This is awesome, thank you for sharing I find it so interesting.

How would I go about finding the most +'d deal of all time?

    Cheers

    • Ah yeah. Our stats page - (I've just added that to the post). It was the eBay deal from June - 2441 votes.

      • Page views for top deals are in the tens of thousands whereas the highest rated deals are in the low thousands. Are you making an effort to get people to sign-in and vote/comment on deals or just happy that people are visiting the site?

        • Yes, that's pretty much our top goal. Trying to convert guests into members. We've certaintly created useful member features to help bargain hunting. We recently added the ability to use Facebook/G+ to signup for those who can't be bothered/lazy to enter details.

Guess we need more inspiration to guests to get them to sign up. Happy for suggestions.

  • The links for 'Top 5 most popular stores (in pageviews)' & 'Top 5 most popular forum thread by traffic (in pageviews)' don't work for us.

8.47% of people use Internet Explorer?

    Now that's fascinating.

This may also include people using Windows Phone devices.

This is from Analytics, so I think that's only desktop.

        The breakdown is:

        11 - 48.72%
        9 - 19.04%
        10 - 17.06%
        8 - 15.07%
        6 - .08%
        5 - .02%

Thankfully, IE6 is almost entirely eradicated.

      Comparing to July 2013

      Chrome was 40.96 (+9%)
Safari was 21.87 (no significant change)
      Firefox was 17.57 (-3%)
      IE was 11.47% (-3%)
Android was 11.47% (-3%) - I think this may be due to Chrome being default on new devices

  • @ Neil: I've wondered about this for a while — can you tell us what days of the week is Ozbargain the most active? (i.e number of deals posted).

    • +6

      Looking just at July:

Around 9PM has the highest amount of traffic. Low is around 4AM.

Tuesday has the highest traffic but is fairly close to Monday and Wednesday's traffic. Saturday is dramatically lower (~40K sessions). Sunday is slightly higher.

  • Just goes to show that we all work more or less the same way i.e. weekdays after dinner go & check computer, around 10.30pm be in bed pushing up the zzzzzzzzzzzz's, Saturday do things around the house & enjoy fun time with friends & family, Sunday have slight hangover & clear up, Monday back to work with brain not quite in gear but make the effort with alot of help with coffee & water, Tuesday feel back to normal & can concentrate on the day ahead, Wednesday - hey- it's hump day - another weekend around the corner, Thursday Oh No it's late night shopping but at least it's Friday tomorrow, Friday - end of another hard week & all that stuff can wait until Monday.

Neil, can we find user who spent longest time based on time on ozb….

    • pent longest time based on time on ozb….

That would be scotty wouldn't it? This website is his job / life.

      • I should have said that exclude mods.

      • That would be scotty wouldn't it?

I am actually on OzB less than many of you guys as I have to deal with the "business" side of this website, i.e. working on ideas, coding, doing a lot of emails (and sometimes phone calls). That doesn't leave me much time hunting the bargains each day :(

        • Just want to thank you for the good work, we really saved a lot (in the same time spend a lot lol ;) )
Really thanks and keep the great job you guys doing.
