I guess that's why they added a free stand with it

      • +2

Still doesnt justify the price IMO.

        • +1

          Harvey Norman it's $597

        • +1

          @TRENT86: and at Mobileciti it's $349

        • does that include delivery? And a free stand worth $150?

        • @TRENT86: yes free delivery no stand
i am not compairing other stors prices i am stateing that this mobilephone is over priced when compaired to the competition such as a nexus 5.

        • +1

          @TRENT86:
It is worth a bit. It isn't just a stand at all.

        • @holden93:

          Grey or local stock though??

        • @linton: what?
nexus 5 you can buy straight from google the mobileciti they are based in Parramatta

        • @holden93:

The might be based in parramatta, but their stock is not local, and so not warranties are not supported by the manufacturers themselves.

          From their site:

All MobiCity products come with extensive local warranties and are backed by local warranty provider AWS.

Stock is sourced from around the world according to quality, value and availability and sent from our warehouses in Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and USA direct to the end user through fast and reliable courier services that offer live tracking.

      • +1

The nexus 5 is objectively superior, even with the free stand that will gather dust after it's used 2 times.

thumb up JB hifi website - now has 50% off cringes when you look at it now.

    • I have a similar stand for a Sony camera. It works well, camera follows movement and noise and takes photos automatically.

  • Awesome thanks op
ps: where did you see it

    • On front page of catalogue dude, I'm not sure if it's online yet though

      • thanks
        nah cant find online yet

        • +1

I added a pic of the deal

  • Z1 or this is better?

    • +1

Z1, but this is smaller despite the screen being the same size.

  • +1

To anyone considering this as their primary phone, be warned that there are some issues with it! Relatively slow updates from Sony (also consider that they now have to support the Z1, the Z2 and the upcoming Z3). The screen is pretty bland with poor colour reproduction and bad viewing angles. The design is quite nice although it can heat up a fair amount. For another $50-$60 you could get the Z1 which is marginally better, with the Z2 having fixed most of the previous generations faults. If it's a phone for a kid or for anybody who isn't obsessed with the latest tech it's fine.

    • is this another $50-$60 from JB aswell?

      • I should clarify, no it isn't from JB. I don't believe JB sell them anymore. I'm talking about DWI/Kogan/eGlobal/Mobicity.

        • -3

I would say your really paying only around $269 when you get the free smart stand.

        • +4

Not really. These things are bonuses. 9/10 buyers would just want the phone.

    • +2

Went from an Xperia Z to a Z2, Z is running KitKat well so updates aren't terrible.

Personally never found the XZ to get hot unless I was running a custom ROM, Z2 seems to get much warmer when using the camera.

Would recommend both of them, now I just have to decide what to do with the Z.

      • +1

My bin is more than welcome to accept it.

    • Sony Xperia Z2 is, believe or not, really unpopular despite a hype on the internet. Vodafone did drop the price from $64/mth to $54($4 for the handset on $50 plan) per month, yet many people just bought either iphone 5s or Galaxy S5. I guess because Xperia Z(which looks almost identical to Z2) is free on $30 plan.

      • The z2 really is just a little too big to be held and used comfortably in one hand.
Specs are up there with the best and even better in some cases, but when you have to use it every day sometimes it's better to go with a nicer looking or more comfortable phone.

  • I'm quite happy with the z1 compact that I got during the 15% off eBay sale. It was $388 after discount.

I have the Z - 4G/LTE 16Gb model, it used to run pretty warm as well, but that was because of so many background app (on android 4.3). After the 4.4 kitkat update, speed improved, the phone didn't warm up as much either. The fact its waterproof is also handy. Running battery doctor enabled me to keep the phone on for up to 24hours+, otherwise after one days of use, im at home at around 30% at least.
Decent phone, and honestly it feels better than the nexus 5, but that's my own personal opinion.

    • Careful about relying on the water proof status

I took mine over to Japan last month… was using wifi in a rooftop spa and it was working fine. 3 hours later it started vibrating non-stop and switched itself off for 2 days. Later on, I was taking photos in the rooftop pool at Marina Bay Sands - same thing… it worked fine until I was out of the pool and then vibrated itself to sleep… and hasnt worked since.

Harveys sent it off to be pressure tested and it passed, so now they claim I must have had one of the flaps open. I'm about to lodge a Consumer Affairs claim, as I was using it as designed.

  • How's the camera photo quality?

  • Our store(vodafone select) is selling Sony Xperia Z for $330 though. I'm pretty sure it is unlocked,

    • Does that model have Vodafone software on it?

  • Is the 'self cracking screen' issue something that I should be worried about? Has it happened to anyone that has previously owned one?

    • Check the reviews link man, a few reviews there from owners

    • +3

I've had my XZ since release and have had nil issues. Use it everyday, work included and there it gets rather dirty but quick rinse under the tap it's fine.
People that say the viewing angle is poor, is the phone strapped to your body or something!? Colours are good once you adjust the white balance. Better than the S3 I had.

      • Bad viewing angle means you can't use it while docked , ie. in car

  • Does anyone know if the stand fits and works with other phones?

    • it works with other sony phones. The compatibility is in link, I'm not sure about other brand phones

  • How's the screen like?
I have read that viewing angle is very poor, and display is generally washed out due to use of Non IPS panel.
The latest Z2 has this fixed.

  • How much could I sell the stand for ?

    • -3

$368 if phone is free with stand.

    • Around $200 through online shops.

    Hi all
Picked it up today. For $367
Awesome phone and stand is good but don't think I'll be using it
Had $100 of jb gift card from coke rewards which I finally used today
    Total paid $267
    Thanks Trent bro

  • I bought this phone, its half as heavy as my old iphone 4 and twice the size, the screen quality is great, its like having a little LCD TV in your hands, camera is awesome. Havent used stand.

Issues: sound is too low with headphones and on own, so far wont connect to 4G… will take it to telstra shop tomorrow.

If i can get these things fixed i will be rapt for this phone at this price, JB dude said they worth 800 and seemed to want one himself.

    • I think there's an option to allow your mobile data to connect to 4g
I was having the same issue and had specifically turn on 4g even when mobile data was on and phone was using 3G

      • I'm not currently getting any internet on my phone apart from WiFi at home… as soon as I go past letterbox I get nothing, Jb and Telstra both told me it's as simple as putting in SIM card but not for me unfortunately…

Also, just put iPhone headphones in, much louder thank God! Supplied headphones must just be weak. Don't sit in ears nicely either, but iPhone headphone cable is too short :(

Doesn't reach from ears to pocket… spent so much trying to get good in ear headphones.,,

  • The stand isn't available if purchased online?

    • Not too sure, you will have to call customer service.

      • Fair enough. Just mentioned it in case someone wanted to purchase it online, as the imaging stand is shown anywhere from what I saw.

  • can anyone recommend cases or other accessories to buy….can you get waterproof screen protectors for this?
That is protector that wont come off when wet.

    • Isn't this waterproof anyway?

      • Yeah but I want to put a screen protector on but if I do will it just come off with wayer thus a a waterproof version that won't come off.

        • screen protector doesn't come off when wet though, what are you talking about?

        • @clse945111:

cool thanks for that, I thought they would if they got wet. sweet going ebay to get the el-cheapos then

  • Got one from The Strand JB Hifi for $355 with the Imaging stand. All i did was ask if they are still negotiable on price.

    • Yeah it's basically permanent price now there, hasn't gone up in months
