Edit 10/11/2024 8:56PM: Thank you all for your overwhelming support on this deal! We've sold out of this system for the moment, if anything changes OzBargain will be the first to know!

Morning OzBargain!

Our Black Friday deals keep rolling in! Today we've got the long-awaited and anticipated Ryzen 7 9800X3D - the new fastest gaming CPU on the market! Fantastic price point for its performance compared to its predecessor the 7800X3D, Hardware Unboxed did a great review on this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcYixjMMHFk. To the best of my knowledge, all 9800X3D are already sold out at all retailers in Australia and are already in shortage. We have a super limited amount and it will be on a first come first serve basis and spread the love on OzBargain! Typically you never see a deal for new products like these 😁.

Bonus $225USD Steam gift card as well up for grabs for each system purchased*. Along with a better MSI cooler compared to the M240, we've got the MSI MAG E240 for the base models of these systems that perform and look better (subjective).

Thank you all for your support, we've been smashed with work and are pushing towards the end of our ETA for despatch. For the latest deals, it may be a bit longer than the estimated 7-10 business days, no longer than a few days. We're working as fast as we can to get your rigs out!

Is there any chance you'll use factual torrent compact cases in the future (or an option to change to that case). It's one of the blockers for me to get prebuild…

    • +5

Yes, if you prefer we can organise a custom case for you. For this deal there needs to be six MSI components, case has to be MSI unfortunately otherwise it won't be eligible for the $225USD Steam gift card - only $120USD.

  • When does the Steam card expire? If we purchase the deal with the card, will it be posted 1st or sent via email?

    • +6

It will be sent by email via your redemption, to the best of my knowledge they don't expire but please don't quote me on that. Best to clarify with MSI as it's their promotion.

      • +1

It needs to be redeemed by a certain date. But once redeemed it can sit in the steam wallet forever

  • +6

Nice to see the 9800X3D so soon but those power supplies… yikes!

    • +2

Plenty of power for this rig, can upgrade if you prefer another :). OzBargain wants a bargain and we try our best to balance both worlds between that and value.

      • -2

Yeah I get it, it's more the Bronze rating I was referring to. Paired with a top of the line $800 CPU it's just an odd place to cut costs is all. No offence - just highlighting it for those who might be looking at it.

ozb. always pushing you to do your best :)

        • +4

The difference between a bronze and gold PSU if you run the PC 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, is around $1-$2 per month on your electricity bill…

        • there is basically no difference in power efficiency between the different rated power supplies, as long as it has an 80+ bronze or above rating they all perform the same with marginal differences.

        • +3

Don't think anyone serious about PCs has ever had this as a major issue. I'd be more concerned with 650W. Should be higher at this price point, which is a constant grievance with nebula.

    • +1

Depending on how much power available on the PSU thru the rail to the GPU, this is more than enough.

  • +1

I would buy if the default SSD was of decent speed and size.

Is there any option to swap it for a faster 2tb option?

    • +1

For a secondary one you can add a 2TB one of 1TB, one SSD has to be MSI to be eligible for the MSI promotion for a $225USD Steam gift card. We don't have any 2TB MSI SSD option at this stage. Please see our available options here for primary and secondary drives - https://gyazo.com/e67c306af840b157f0be019013d9283e, https://gyazo.com/206ff7d7eecc160c0de2b976a27d04dc, https://gyazo.com/534fa57eb4406d83e6baec093fe3377c.

Any questions please let me know!

      • +1

So in other words to get the promo you must use one of MSI's slower speed SSD's as your "primary" HDD?

And it must be 1TB because you have no 2TB options?

I think these are dealbreakers for me.

        • No, you can upgrade to the MSI M460 1TB with speeds of (R: 5000MB/s | W: 4500MB/s) which is generally enough for your average user. Yes, it must be a 1TB MSI SSD option to be eligible for the promotion. You can opt for a secondary 1TB M460 as well to achieve 2TBs of fast NVME speeds at a better cost as well. I think it's a great middle line considering the MSI $225 Steam gift card promotion, something has to give :(.

          • @Nebula PC: Yeah I've looked at these and really would want a primary 2tb MSI SSD but none of the deals ever have them.

            • @kulprit: I've noticed a similar pattern. 5000MB/s is still not 7000MB/s or more. There is still a performance hit.

        • Lol if these are the deal breakers for you, wow… you are almost impossible to please, you do realise you can replace SSDs yourself etc? :)

          • +1

@bunnybash: But why would you want to go to the trouble of replacing an SSD in a vendor built system. That's why people choose vendor built systems, so they don't have to pull it apart to install another NVMe. It'd be like buying a new sports car and getting Corolla wheels on it with no option to swap out. No shade on Nebula as they are simply providing specs that most people want.

            • @ElectricJeebus: Ssd's are super easy to swap out. Probs most user servicable part.

              • @BananaMan007: Yeah, I get that. But with big hands, most NVMe drives I've had to access needed me to remove components to get in. I really don't want to do that. That's why I want a vendor built PC. I just want a PC with an SSD I choose, not a base/mid tier SSD that I will only swap out. Especially when it is being paired with the fastest gaming CPU on the market.

  • +3

    overkill for 4070ti

    • +1

      no 4080 option either…

      4090 is a hugeeee jump

      • might as well wait for next gen cards at this stage

      • Hi @musai and @goblues31

We've just released a new 9800X3D with 4080 SUPER rig due to popular demand - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/876793. Bonus $150 Prezzee E-Gift card as well! 😁

    • +3

It will depend on the user, no 4080 SUPER options with MSI at this stage, unfortunately. Price point for the performance of 4070 SUPER and 4070 Ti SUPER are in a great place for most people's budgets whilst still reaping the benefits from the newest fastest gaming CPU on the market! 😁

      • Do you mean that MSI aren't offering a 4080 S, or that you can't offer one as part of this deal? MSI offer loads of 4080 S options. I'm dying to build a 9800X3D system and want to buy from a vendor, but the inability to add a 4080 S is killing it for me.

Also, curious why the inability to include an X870 or X870E motherboard. Understand OZB likes deals, but surely this would be a sensible custom inclusion given the CPU choice.

        • +3

No 4080 S from MSI for us on hand at this stage to be eligible for the promotion and the same with X870 from MSI, unfortunately won't be a bargain price :(. They also run ATX in size which means the case needs to be ATX meaning extra cost. We try our best to deliver a bargain but without a doubt understand there is a high end market segment, we will work on this.

          • @Nebula PC: Thank you. I'm not looking for an absolute bargain, just a fair price and the surety of having a vendor build with an overall system warranty.

    • +1

Not for competitive games if you want to push very high frame rates, 300+.

Plus it's such a good CPU , likely still be capable enough for a 60 series GPU upgrade in 2.5 yrs.

      • That'd be awesome for future proofing in that case then for people on a tighter budget!

  • I wish I wasn't halfway through a 4070TI S build, I'd jump on this :(

    • I'm half way into a 7950x3d build.. But there will always be new things on the way that's how pc gaming is.

      • Exactly. I bought my 4090 6 months ago. Did it happily because i went from a 1080ti and wanted to play MW3 and Gears maxed and ive been doing that. It was good ibe been playing other games now at 4k maxed.. ill probably get a 60 or 70 after this.

  • +5

I thought I'd share my experience. The PC from Nebula has been great—well-built with excellent customer service and quick responses to any questions. However, my experience with MSI's gift card claim process was disappointing. I upgraded from the standard Wintry build to having six MSI components, expecting to receive a $225 USD gift card, however I was only issued a $120 USD card. I haven’t heard back from MSI support since. Wait times for the gift card was about a week. So yeah, PC great, the gift cards are a hit or miss, so please consider that when making this purchase.

    • +1

Did the 6 MSI components cover the below?

MSI Motherboard + MSI Graphics Card + MSI Power Supply + MSI Case + MSI Liquid Cooler+ MSI SSD

I found the info above here: https://au.msi.com/Promotion/anz-get-powered-by-msi-2024

Table where I got this info from is about mid-way down the page.

      Hope that helps.

      • +1

        Yep, my parts were:
        MSI MAG Forge M100R mATX
        MSI MAG B650M MORTAR WIFI
        1TB MSI M460 Gen4
        MSI Ventus GeForce RTX 4070
        Ti SUPER 2X OC
        MSI A750GL 750W 80+ Gold
        MSI MAG M240 240mm Liquid
        Cooler ARGB
I also had email confirmation from Nebula that my build qualified for the USD 225 Steam card promotion, but I didn't get it. So yeah, the additional effort of upgrading to 6 MSI components was a bit of a waste.

        • +1

Yea, I don't get why as well, on the face of it, you should have definitely get that $225. The amount of effort to chase this up would have been annoying. Sorry to hear but keep at it.

          • +1

@NatoePotato: Yeah, it's a bit unfortunate. I just thought I'd share my experience so people know what to expect with the MSI claims process.

            • +7

@twlandre: Sorry about your experience, we have no control over the distribution. I will raise your case with MSI and escalate it. Definitely an error on their end.

  • +1

if i change a part out down the road, is the rest of the pc still covered under warranty? Actually nevermind, not really a deal in the end, by the time you add shipping and insurance, your only saving $100, yes you get the gift card, but still not really saving much

    • Yes, any warrantable fault will be covered. User induced damage will not be covered. CPU is out of stock everywhere, we are selling the system well below market price for OzBargain :).

  • +1

How much more will it cost if I ask that we custom order the Solid Black Fractal Define 7 Mini case or Lian Li Dan A3 (Wood)? Aware that it'll only be eligible for the MSI Advance $120 USD Steam Card.

    • For A3 wood it'll be +$100 for the case, Fractal Define 7 Mini we don't have on hand. Would be best for A3 Wood.

    • +1

You'd almost be better off buying the case elsewhere and moving the PC across and then selling the current MSI case. Get the higher gift card etc.

      • Yea strongly considering it at the moment.

  • +3

Best gaming cpu so far. RIP intel

    • The X3D truly are the best, but the price on the 9000s so far don't feel like they are worth the extra money

    • Bad, 30% faster in gaming compared to Intel's best, according to HUB

  • +2

Any issues forseen with one of these if I decide to upgrade to a newer GPU down the road?

    • +1

you would need a bigger psu, and maybe case depending on size of new gpu

    • Agree with @Gotboost - PSU seems a bit low on my end. My understanding is that the power draw for the 9800X3D is higher than the previous 7800X3D so would recommend a bigger PSU.

    • +1

Yep, mainly case and PSU you will need to factor in.

  • If this had a better msi motherboard upgrade like the Tomahawk I would pull the trigger

    • Tomahawk I believe is ATX in size only, the base model case is mATX and would also require a case upgrade. Closest would be the B650M Mortar if it suits :).

      • i wanted to upgrade case to the MSI MAG FORGE AIRFLOW 320R ATX - Black.
can i get the Tomahawk b650?

        • We don't stock this model sorry, if we were to order one unit the price would not be good for you. Apologies for that.

  • With your builds what happens if i dont get the operating system from you?

do you do linux? or something else?
How do you handle the setup?

  • +1

Still free games with the CPU or GPU as well? Star wars extended until the 12th?

    • You're right, only GPU. Star Wars has been extended and the system will be eligible for it. I will update our builder now.

      • Great. CPU games ended in October? And the 12th is correct for star wars? Will keeping waiting until they pick another game.

        • +1

CPU promotion from AMD ended early this month.

          • @Nebula PC: Ahh thanks. Seems it was 7000 series CPU only anyway, so didn't include the 9000 ones.

  • Keep up the good work. Ill be in the market for a new PC in the new year (to last me another 3+yrs). Want to see how these new AMD GPUs pan out.

    • Thank you for your support!

  • Hi Rep - Thanks for putting together some great deals.
Can I ask when they will expire please.
In particular the Surge - MSI RTX 4060 OC deal.

    Thanks

    • Until we sell out, for this one should be very quick as we don't have many 9800X3D's. They are already in a shortage and sold out nationwide.

For any MSI promotion PC the promotion will end at the end of this month.

  • +2

    Hi Nebula.
I am looking forward to your 5080/5090 deal.

    • +2

Thank you, we are too! :).

  • Super fast

  • +1

dam, i’d jump on this if it were 4080S :(. one day…

  • Thank you very much. This looks great, very tempting straight out of the gate.

Can someone please guide me on which Case and Motherboard from the 4070 Super deal would be suitable to allow for a GPU upgrade in the future to something the size of a 4090 (or larger if the trend continues).

    • +1

Email the guys , they are pretty good at advice

  • Bonus will be paid on 20 Nov not sure if too late lol.

  • +1

Any chance of a deal with the 9800X3D and an RX7900XTX?

    • +1

      This!

    • Not at this stage unfortunately.

  • How would this compare to PS5 Pro?

    • -1

      Ps5pro basically is ryzen 5 3600+ Radeon 6800.
So the new generation x3d CPU + any GPU above Radeon 6800 definitely overkill Ps5pro.

      • -1

PS5 pro is comparable to 7800xt apparently.
Also Ray tracing of ps5pro would be better than 6800
But this is definitely more powerful

  • +3

The 7800x3d with 4070ti super last month for $2188 is more powerful than this for cheaper. The CPU gain is not equivalent to the GPU gain for 1440p gaming on the 4070ti super over the 4070s.
It's a nice deal if anyone wants the new super but not as good of a deal as your previous one (located here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/860960)

    • Whaaaa?
You can get 4070ti here for $500 more
      Faster ram
Plus you get steam gift card of over $300 AUD
Plus more powerful CPU which is a beast

I think your wrong but each to their own

      • You got three games in the other which were no slouch.
And also at that price you might as well spend $80 extra and get a 4080 super. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/865583
Again GPU gains will be more beneficial than CPU gains.
It's a shame the promo ended for the free games but that deal was insanely good value. This is just hype from the new CPU

        • You get one same game here , the other 2 games were trash anyway , I wouldn't play them .
If this had a 4080 for this price then yes , it's a steal but this is good enough for 1440p
Also look at the aud , it's tanking
Price of amd CPU is not gonna come down any time soon
This will end up being a pretty good deal I recon if AUD doesn't recover soon.

  • If you purchase Windows preinstalled and later on decide to format the HDD (for a clean install), will Windows reactivate again automatically or will you have to buy yet another Windows license?
Back in the day you used to receive a printed key with a Windows purchase…

if you register your windows copy with Microsoft it should carry on to the new device and activate when you log back in to your account

  • Can someone recommend something from here (or any changes)?
I use my PC for office stuff, games and AI (stable diffusion). Would the specs be enough or should I upgrade some things?

    • Depending on how much you are doing with stable diffusion will determine what you need. But since you're asking here I would assume its nothing too crazy and a 4070ti super would be enough for your workload. But more vram the better for stable diffusion.

The 4070ti super build is great for 1440p 144hz gaming maybe pushing towards 4k depending on settings.

      • Thanks, you're right - nothing too crazy. Just learning, playing around, editing my photography on PS etc :)

    • 9700X would also be suitable for you needs, unfortunately we have sold out of the 9800X3D system build :(.

when will we be able to geta deal with the 9800x3d and a 4080 super

    • +1

Not at this stage with the MSI promotion, GPU needs to be MSI.

  • +3

waiting for the deal on 9800x3d and 5080

  • Praying for a 9800X3D and 4080S deal this black friday

  • Think I'll definitely be in on the next 4070ti S deal you put through. Just don't get any value out of the steam balance myself to justify some of the MSI picks.

    • Of course! Will definitely have one with the best price possible without the promotion requirements from MSI etc… I understand many people don't value the Steam gfit cards as much.
