Hi OzBargain,

Fantastic all-time lows on super high end Intel i9 14900KF systems. The media hasn't been too friendly with the Intel CPUs understandably however it seems like Intel's new CPU Microcode 0x129 has resolved the issue of instability and lifespan issues. All systems will come with motherboard BIOS' updated to the latest version to ensure stability and prolong lifespan with Microcode 0x129. Intel has also extended their warranty on the 14900KF globally for extra peace of mind, from our internal testing with our system configuration everything is stable. Ripper CPU for people that need the overkill amount of cores for productivity tasks along with playing on Ultra settings for any game on 1440P!

Lovely system…out of my range/not looking to buy. Keep up the good work.

    • +1

Thanks mate! Market is huge, lots of different needs :). When the time is right let us know!

      • Hey I am a complete noob and only buy pre made PC. I am almost in the market. What kind of settings could I expect to get from Warzone and Fortnite on 1440p with the Glaz

  • +6

The extended Intel warranty is only 3 years. I'd still go for an AMD build if that is possible

    • +1

14900k is extremely power hungry as well. Pcpart picker is not listing the right tdp.
The 14900kf has hit upwards of 400w on usage but for most goes around 350 (depending on mobo)

      • +2

Isn't the heat also one of the main reasons as to why the chip is failing. I'm surprised that many of the prebuilt builds on here still come with an Intel chip, even during the months of Intel CPU failures. I assume that they have lots of stock that they need to use up or sell. This seems to pretty comparable to the 4070TS build -> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/860960

        • +1

Yep I can speak from experience on a 13600kf build I had to undervolt and put a much more powerful cooler to maintain its integrity.
I mentioned this over the last couple of years but people assumed I didn't understand, lo and behold a few months ago the class action against Intel took place for those same reasons

  • +3

750w is not enough for this system
Needs a bump to at least 850w for base spec
Also that air cooler won't do anything.
I also think that case is going to make the 14900kf like a furnace. Needs more airflow.. I actually think this build is not well optimised for the CPU in it.
If this same build had the 7800x3d it would have been fine.. the change to Intel changes everything dramatically. And hasn't been considered in the build

Thank you for your feedback as always legend! We've tested this system with OCCT for hours with the power testing under 100% load for the CPU and GPU and the power draw wasn't an issue, plenty of power for the system is available even accounting for power spikes. Understand completely how hot they get but the AK500 is a pretty beefy cooler and did its job. We tried our best to keep the price as low as possible without compromise but we will take your feedback into strong consideration and improve 😁.

      • +2

        I also appreciate your transparency.
I can only speak from experience with a 13600kf and 3070 that the processor does get hot and thermal throttles . I upgrade my case to fractal torrent nano and upgraded air cooler to peerless assassin 120.. which still didn't cool enough until I undervolted a little then CPU maintained a temp of less than 83 degrees. Btw peerless assassin was designed to handle up to 220w tdp.. the Intel was going over 230 when max tdp was mentioned as 185.
The 14900kf is even hungrier than my 13600kf. I only say this as the last thing I'd want to happen is that all these people buy the machine and then you have to deal with this RMA process.
I would really advise for everyone to get hwinfo as a first line install to check the system is working well.

I'd second John's comment. 14900kf on an aircooler is not the best combo, my own 13900k on a Noctua NH-D15 gets pretty toasty with the dual 140mm fans working hard to get the heat out especially during summer. I too run a slight undervolt to keep everything in check.

Ngl, with how you guys have set this case up for cooling, you should just bite the bullet and run an aio top mounted.

Also, it might be a good decision to share what BIOS these systems will ship with to ensure latest intel micro-code has been implemented.

Edit, omg I too run a 3070. Matching PCs Hi-five!

        • Hi 5!
Btw im guessing you are a K Drama fan or just an IU fan based on prof pic

        • Will be the latest BIOS version with Microcode 0x129 :).

  • Love the frequency and transparency of these deals. Will be in the market for a pre-built in around 6 months and you guys are at the top of my list.

    • Thank you my friend!

  • Lawrence can make the Pimp systems but where are the good games this year? I've put more time into The last stand flash games than Space Marine 2, Frostpunk 2 etc etc

    • Haha I heard Wukong has been super super hot.

  • +1

Ah good call I haven't got that yet. I rate Monkey Magic and Dragonball etc. They deserve our money just for refusing to be shaken down.

  • Hi there, Do the Nebula N5 case fans have PWM? I can't find any information about the case and it's fans on your website.

    • They're molex fans, not PWM. Will be a set fan speed :).

  • Hey Lawrence!

Is there any chance of a 7900 xtx deal or config? If so ill hold for that if not ill definitely look into getting a 4080S.

    Thanks :)

    • Not at this stage, 4080 S would be the closest :). 7900XTX sell-through is not good, unfortunately.

  • how to buy i9 14900KF, RTX 4080 SUPER, 32GB 6000MHz RAM, 1TB M.2, 750W Gold at price 2k8, I tried booking on the website, and it cost more than 3k3, thanks

    • Use the code "OZB_TAXBACK$500OFF" at checkout. Theres a box where you can type in a coupon.

    • Please use OZB_TAXBACK$500OFF in checkout to bring price down by $500 :).

  • Why do you guys only offer options for 240mm AIOs on your builds? This is the one CPU where a 360mm or even 420mm AIO is considered a necessity. The TDP on these CPUs is absolutely monstrous.

I get you want to keep the price low, but if I want to pay for better cooling, but can't, that'd be a deal breaker. That case would be an oven under load, despite what you said above about testing. Your results go against every other test of the i9 14900KF I've seen.
