Merged from Marin Alpine Trail XR Mountain Bike $2899 (Demo Stock) + Delivery & More Demo Stock @ Bikes Online
    Go to Deal

If you're a mountain biker you've probably seen that reality has caught up and most of the big brands have been heavily discounting, especially last year models. Specialized and Giant and Santa Cruz are all offering good discounts at the moment.

Bikes Online have sharp pricing at the best of times. I think the Alpine Trail XR at $5000 was good value. So to buy the exact same bike for $2899 (size Large, ex demo) with a warranty is outstanding value.

I've linked to their ex-demo page, but even the regular prices are all heavily discounted at the moment as well.

If you're in the market, I think they're definitely worth a look.

    • any mtb deals around $500-$600?

still using first mtb bike from 2004…

    • There's a S and XS in there around that price, otherwise no.

Maybe check Pushy's? They have a big sale at the moment. Also, Specialized are doing lots of sales, check their website, or even ask your local bike store?

To be honest, there's not much fat in the low end of the market, so they probably can't discount too much, but it's worth asking.

    • pushys have this jamis 29 inch. is this an ok brand? only need it for weekend on trails.

      edit: delivery is $219 lol

    • Looking for a 24 inch mountain bike for my soon to be 8 year old. Seems as though brands like Specialized are pricing their hardtails ridiculously expensive ($1,600).

They have a rigid version for $900 but why on earth you'd want a mountain bike with no front suspension is beyond me? Trek have done the same.

Merged from Majority Histon Compact DAB & FM Radio $29 C&C Only @ Target
    Go to Deal

Found this little DAB/FM radio at Target for just $29. Has 3.5mm audio out and can be powered with AA batteries or supplied micro USB power supply. Couple of units were remaining at Target - Chadstone when I got mine.

    • -1

I don’t really understand why DAB (and FM and AM) are still a thing?

      • I don't think I have ever used DAB or DAB+. Was once tempted to buy a shower radio that could do them but I don't think I even have digital stations in my area.

    • 4060 pairs pretty well with a 1080p high refresh rate imo. I have a 3060 with a 1080p 165hz screen and it's pretty great.

I'm trying but struggling to find the downside for this one, granted I haven't watched any reviews or anything. The MUX switch is great, usually that's where laptops at this price point go to shit. 12th gen and DDR5 is also nice.

So what's the caveat? Or is it just that good?

      • +2

The downside is everyone is poor now and 3060 laptops were 1k and this is 1.7k.

      • +2

Battery is tiny would be the only one I can see from a quick glance

    • +2

I had this watch in mid 90's and gave it away to nephew in around 2010-2013
he is still using it from time to time
has been abused during my time
Does keeping the time pretty accurate. good watch and brand
however $2599 is only about 23% less than RRP
I believed you can get most tag watch (low to med) for that much anytime any day
this is not a bargain at all.

    • +3

Many moons ago I picked up at a bargain price a Heuer Deep Dive 1000m. Big, chunky thing. I loved it. Then one day I put the most almighty scratch in the glass after bumping against a star picket. Agh! So I took it to the local dealer who was a Tag dealer and asked if they could fix it. No probs they said, but they'd have to get a new glass in. Fair enough, I thought. About three weeks later I checked in, new glass still on order, they were tricky to get being an older model, etc etc. I wasn't in a hurry so left it there. After a couple of months of not hearing anything I figured I'd better chase them up and…the shop had gone. Closed, emptied out. No warning. Watch gone! I tried to chase something down for a while but got nowhere.

After that, I just haven't been able to face picking up a Tag again.

    • +1

Take it with a bag of Salt.

      Considering this is Quartz.
Way better options are there for 1% of the price.

      Head to TEMU or ALIEXPRESS.
and for 10% of the price you can land a Seiko/citizen Quartz Chronograph.

    • +1

      Tachymetre? More like Tackymetre

    • Have the grey version of this and hasn't missed a beat in 8 years, great reliable quartz chrono.
      The colour of this though…
      not a fan.

Also Tag have lost their way in terms of market demographic, it's not high end and doesn't do mid range too well either.

I'd get an Oris if i had to do it again or Omega/Rolex as a proper watch.

    Merged from Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 Gaming Laptop - 17.3" QHD240hz, R9 7945HX, RTX4090, 32GB, 1TB $5139 Delivered + Surcharge @ Centre Com
    Go to Deal

Yeah I know, I know. But this is the deal to get if you are after a 4090M laptop with the no.1 mobile CPU there is. Can't believe Im posting a deal from CentreCon but here we are with them being a good several hundred dollars cheaper than everyone else, and Ive been watching eBay sellers with coupons and whatnot but none have been this 'cheap'.

A comparable desktop build performance wise (base tower only, no fans or monitors etc) I got on PCPP is just above 3100$, with everything setup, a proper desktop of the performance of this would set you back 4 grand give or take. Probably 3.5 if you get in on all the deals and such?

As per the usual, the 4090 here is not a desktop 4090 or anywhere close to it. Its a 4080 die with GDDR6 vram running at a very conservative 175w leading to ~4070ti levels of performance. I dont have the proper benchmarks to back it up, but you can estimate worse performance than 4070ti at 1080p, while QHD/4k/UW will see 4090M giving better frames due to higher bandwidth and larger vram. The 7945HX is, to put it simply, a delidded 7950X running at reduced wattage, single core wise it runs worse than a 7900x but better multicores which puts it in under the 7950x.

To round it up, this laptop uses the same chasis as last years Strix Scar 17 SE, with the huge vapor chamber design, so thermals definitely isnt an issue, points are taken off for the 16:9 screen with many others using 16:10 now with higher brightness, but apart from that, its a good 1440p 240hz panel with 100% dci-p3, gsync and the whole nine yards. 1TB of PC801 is included which is an oem version of the hynix P41 - basically the fastest consumer drive there is. And as for the wifi card its our same old meditatek* friend, which some folks may considering into upgrading to an ax210 or ax410 whenever that is released.

*Not to Asus's fault, going across the market you will find no AMD based machine from any brand uses Intel/Killer wifi card stock and opted for Mediatek/Realtek etc solutions, a loss to the consumer, whether if its intel or AMD forcing manufactuerers to do so is another question.

Thumb up for the detailed description. Bought 0.

    • One more thing, I forgot to make a deal for this before it was expired. But for those that dont care about AMD (i know some folks disliked the whole p&e thing on intel that doesnt run well with the program they use), L7i Pro is your go to for cheapest 4090 as long as you wait for a return on this cashback deal. Lenovo doesnt seem to be doing a flagship amd machine this year which is sad but what can you do right.

        • They won't match other stores tho

@ozbs25: The question is, what are you going to do with your extra $5?

              • @kiriakoz: They aren't the same thing. No point in trying to compare. Both the $329 and $20 price points are ridiculous for a jumper like that.

                • @ozbs25: I never said they were the same thing. You said $15 doesn't get you much. Please point to where I said it was the same thing.

                  • @kiriakoz: A noname hoodie doesn't count.

                    • @ozbs25: Why not? They're usually made in the same factory as your overpriced name crap.

                      • @kiriakoz: You can get it anywhere, anytime. They aren't as comfortabe and don't last as long.

                        • @ozbs25: Doesn't last as long? Your name crap is almost 22 times the price. It's going to have to last for a few lifetimes to justify the extra price. Absolute bollox from you here mate.

                          • @kiriakoz: Tell me where I said I'm getting name crap for almost 22 times the price. You like Superdry right? That's not cheap.

                            • @ozbs25: I was literally talking about this Ralph Lauren jumper that we've been talking about. Remember or did you have a breakdown midway through this conversation?

                              • @kiriakoz: I didn't say I was buying it. I even said the price was ridiculous.

Having worked at Kmart while in uni, these sorts of things would happen when stock got buried/lost in the store room.

A year or two later a corner would finally be cleaned or empty and you'd be asked to put random stuff on the floor, scan it to get a price and find it was either a few bucks or no longer in the system.

Not likely many stores would have stock by the sounds of it.

  • Merged from Seiko Speedtimer SFJ001P $799 Delivered @ Starbuy
    Go to Deal

Seiko Prospex 'Panda' One Hundreth of a Second Speedtimer Solar Chronograph Mens Watch SFJ001P

The Speedtimer Prospex watch collection represents Seiko’s professional timekeeping heritage and takes inspiration from the brand’s innovative history.

This particular model SFJ001P1 is powered by a new in-house solar chronograph calibre equipped with a stopwatch which measures time to the nearest 1/100th of a second. This new release model commemorates the 40th anniversary of Seiko’s world-first analogue quartz chronograph, the 7A28. The dial of this particular timepiece achieves visibility and legibility due to its separate indicators for time and chronograph functions – its monochrome colourways give it the nickname from Seiko fans as a ‘panda’ style. Conveniently solar-powered; the watch charges from both natural and electric light.

Becoming official timekeeper for Tokyo’s 1964 Olympics was a turning point in Seiko’s history when the brand began making precisely accurate professional sports timing instruments, with no prior experience. This legacy continues today as Seiko is the World Athletics Official Timekeeper since 1985, supplying timing and measurement services to more than 180 World Athletics events in every corner of the globe.

The hammer-shaped button allows for easier operability of the stopwatch function. This model is powered by the in-house built Solar chronograph calibre 8A50 that allows measurement to the nearest one-hundredth of a second.

Prospex is a combination of the words ‘Professional’ and ‘Specifications.’ Seiko Prospex timepieces are designed to be practical, reliable and durable; to meet the high standards required in extreme environments for sports lovers and adventure seekers alike.

Featuring the Seiko Solar 8A50 movement, the SFJ001P has an approximate accuracy tolerance of +/- 15 seconds per month and a 6 month Power reserve once fully charged. Lowest price I've seen so far for a GPP7.

This is model ga03454-us, currently $1,299 at Harvey Norman.

Rep said it's only available in store while clearance stock last, so best to call up your local OW to see if they have one.

    Store: Vic Park, WA.

    • Shows $1287 on their website? You would be pretty annoyed buying online then finding out it’s $797 in store. Is this even ethical business practice?

    • which store was this please?

      • +3

        Vic Park, WA

        • Put the store in title, don't think it's available everywhere

          • +3

            @yanyan1: No need.

Clearance prices are denoted by a yellow tag and are national prices. No need to note the store in the title for clearance but please mention the store & quantity left in the description. Clearance prices denoted by a white sticker (about 2cm x 1cm) are for that store only. Please mention the location in the title

Tried 2 stores in Vic but they are $1200

      • +3

Which stores? This will help others who are looking.

    • Can someone please let me know if this was the better choice over the s23 from experience? Same price 256gb. Didn't get the targeted email.

      • +7

I'd still pick the S23, worse cameras but much better SoC.

        • +3

I love how we're at the point where people are going to Samsung to avoid using a Samsung SoC. (The S23 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the Pixel uses a "Google" Tensor G2 which is Exynos under the hood with customisation)

      • +3

S23 for battery/SoC, Pixel for software and camera. (I have a pixel 7)

        • That's interesting. I thought I'd lose the camera game. Coming from a Oppo X5 pro.

      • +2

Tons of review sites compare the cameras on the two phones - the P7Pro and the S23Ultra. Cameras usually rate very closely - some websites give the top mark to the P7Pro cameras, other websites give the top mark to the S23Ultra. I'd say they're pretty much equal in that area. I've got the S23Ultra.

        • Thank you all. All I wanted was a Motorola with a good camera and settled for the s23. I've compared and compared. User experience feedback is another helpful side in deciding or regretting

      • Is the s23 available at this price?

    • +1

interesting that this is instore only - I guess they are trying to clear last stocks before the 8/8P is released on 4 October.

      • The 7 pro is sold out even on the google store, this is the last remaining stock.

      • It's actually model GA03454-US — doesn't come up at all on NRBY

    • +1

I have this phone after using multiple S phones. The screen is very fragile. Replacement is $500. Copying files to PC is a pain cause Windows doesn't recognize it as a device. Fast charging only works with certain types of C-C cables, and not really fast as advertised. Auto macro focus doesn't work with the latest OS update.

      • +5

Copying files to PC is a pain cause Windows doesn't recognize it as a device

I have a P6P; this is more the cable you're using rather than Windows. Try a USB-C to USB-C

      • Screen is fragile because it's curved rubbish. Moving back to flat is a fantastic move by them.

        • +2

You mean the 8 Pro will have a flat-screen?? I can't wait for the end of curved screens.

          • @jason3w: That's the rumour yes. It's pretty much confirmed to my knowledge.

            It's about goddamn time.

      • Surely everyone uses a case these days anyway?

      • I've noticed macro mode playing up - thought it was a scratch on the lens or something. Seems to engage for no reason, even for landscape shots. Is this what you have experienced?

      • Screen is fine. No problems whatsoever. I put my phone in a case.

    • Can someone try do a price beat with their local? Lol.

    • +2

Question, so many upvotes already but has anyone else found this price at any other store, or is it only one store in the whole country?

    • I find these clearance items tend to start with only 1-2 left over stock and aren't available everywhere, by the time it's listed on bargain sites or reddit they're all gone

      • rapid popularity of this post is going to give many people false hope

    • +4

Definitely store specific. I've now tried 3 stores in Victoria, all scanning at $1280.

      • Which model did they scan?
        OW sells two, gpx7pr128s ($1287) and ga03454-us ($787)

    • +2

      Toowoomba, QLD - $1280.

    • +3

Stores are able to set store specific prices and print off on clearance tickets. I used to work for Officeworks.

      • Can other OW stores price match this?

        • +1

Up to the store. They have the ability to change the price to match or set a clearance price it but up to the store whether they will do it. Considering the phone is still on the Officeworks website but unavailable online it's probably in the non replenished stage where we don't get new stock. But it hasn't reached clearance yet. Once it reaches clearance stage, head office will start dropping the price automatically. Usually we used to only set a custom price to rapidly clear it out when it was in late stages of clearance.

      • Thank you, that’s good know.

    • Don't get how the P7P is still mainly going for full retail almost a year after when Optus offered the 24month deal at launch that effectively made these about 650ish through HN and others, and Telstra wasn't too far off with their points deals.

    • That's a brilliant price for a very good phone. I got mine for $869, a very good deal in itself, a few months back and am very happy with it.

A steal at this price, nothing in the same price range will even be close to being as good.

    • +1

Terrible battery life, horrendous fingerprint reader (doesn't even use an USS). Yeah nah I'll wait for Pixel 8 next month

      • Fingerprint reader works fine for me. No problem with the battery life.

      • Absolutely no problem with fingerprint reader on mine, works just as well as other phones I've had.

Battery life is fine too, comparable to the iPhones the rest of my family have, probably a bit better.

How do you know so much about using the 7 pro if you're waiting for the 8? 8 pro will be around double this price too.

    • Need to do the price protection claim. If anyone goes to Vic Park, WA store. Can you please share the screenshot of the discounted ticket price "Hazel" Color please

  • -1

Just tried to price match in the Perth store, and they flatly refused, and wouldn't even go any lower than their sticker price.

    • +1

If you put one aside at Vic Park, I can collect and pay for you.

      • +3

cheers @mmd, but I actually went to East Vic Park store tonight and grabbed the last one (they would only do it for the snow, as that's what was on the sticker, but that's ok, it will have a case on it) - ! got the last one they had in stock. Cheers @ozilicious. The tag wasn't there any more, but I'm wondering it was still on the system at the reduced price, as I showed the photo and the girl on the registered looked it up.

Now to find a phone case, belt case and screen protectors (screen + cameras).

Merged from Reid Sphinx Dual Suspension Electric Mountain Bike L Size $3099 + Delivery (Free C&C) @ Reid Cycles
    Go to Deal
    Coupon Code: TECHMANPAT200

Reid quote a RRP of $3800, down to $3300, and then $3100 with the above coupon.

This is the best price I could find for a dual suspension, mid hub ebike.

Compared with the Merida eOne-Forty 400 ($5000 at 99 bikes), it has Ananda electrics rather than Shimano (a big step down) but quite good components (but still a small step down from the Merida).

I know Reid gets some hate here. I'm, clicking and collecting, so I have a little more confidence.

In the end, $3100 I could swallow and $5000 was a bit too big a bite. Posting for opinions and the $200 voucher, mostly. (Tech Man Pat gives the bike a pretty good review).

No mention of the rim details on the reid, any idea if they're tubeless compatible? Be a bummer if they're not.
Also no dropper, and not sure how you'd be able to route an internal cable for one either, which is limiting.

Mostly though: (profanity) me bikes are expensive now! Basic Suntour forks and shock on a 5k bike?!

    • I'd steer clear of any ebike that doesn't have a motor from a well known motor manufacturer. My giant ebike has had several controller and sensor problems out of warranty. The local giant shop has always had the parts required in stock and replacement costs are reasonable. Not sure that Ananda motor parts are going to be easy to acquire.

    • +1

Please check the comments section of other Reid posts before purchasing. Customer service is horrid.

    • If you have a reid sphinx, you should probably see a doctor.

    • Yes this is a great deal on an e-bike and luckily backed up by a warranty (you'll likely need it).

The forks and rear suspension are budget

Brakes are Shimano's cheapest and i'd say almost underpowered for a 15-20kg e-bike.

Drivetrain is decent - no issues there.

Electronic drive is a bit hit and miss, i'd personally stick with shimano, but hey if it gets the job done and is covered by warranty who cares.

    • Personally I wouldn't risk the Reid.

There's some serious discounting on mountain bikes at the moment, try your luck with Merida (as mentioned) or Marin or Polygon.

If you're only riding on a road this Reid one might be ok, don't take it on a trail.

  • -5

Nothing wrong with Ananda M100 motor, I stripped mine down and was impressed with the components and build quality. Stupidly powerful. Reid finally paired it with a bigger 15Ah battery which was it's previous weak link and nothing wrong with Shimano MT200 brakes.

If you don't need rear suspension check out the XDS E-Rupt 3.0 & 4.0 models from $2679 / $2349 running Bafang and excellent value for money.

    • Cheers. Having ridden down my road on a hardtail, my arse seriously desires rear suspension.

    $55 cheaper than SUBTYPE

    DESCRIPTION
The 990’s original designers were tasked with creating the single best running shoe on the market. The finished product more than lived up to its billing. When it hit shelves for the first time in 1982 the 990 sported an elegantly understated grey colorway, and a then unheard of three-figure price tag. For avid runners and ahead of the curve tastemakers alike, the 990 was a mark of quality and superior taste. There have been updates to the design since ’82, and more color options, but the 990’s aspirational status symbol aura has never changed. Simply put, the 990 is the shoe so good, that we’ve never stopped making it. The 990v1 features a premium upper construction and ENCAP midsole cushioning.

      $495 at Watch Depot
      $498 at Starbuy & Watsons

    • I have the yellow, non-limited version of this (i.e., silver, not black stainless steel) and I love it. It's definitely my favorite watch in my collection. The carbon-fiber-textured dial may be a bit too eye-catching for some, but for me that's exactly the kind of aesthetics that I like.

    - 43mm case

The discount code SAVE15 (15% off, duh!) works across the board, but these two looked like the standouts.

    • +2

I’ve noticed Woolworths seem to be doing some excellent markdowns, but they are store dependent. I’m cleaning up on stuff 80-90% off which happens at the same time each day. But they also have a shelf at the back of the store with random clearance stuff, some of it is cheap, some isn’t. But worth a look each visit.

      • I’m cleaning up on stuff 80-90% off which happens at the same time each day.

          Yes food, dairy etc

Woolies has a section for markdown in the fridge section. Coles don't, you have to search for it.

          • @brocky2006: Coles discounts are garbage. They used to be better than Woolies. In some ways I don’t like the dedicated markdown fridge as it attracts hordes of people and you have to be lucky. Rather they just put them on the shelves as normal.

        • Picked the Omnia due to the eARC connection (I need a soundbar). Thank you for your comment.

I picked this 'Ice Blue' up last week when Watches Galore had it for ~$425 (price matched @ Bevilles).

  • Merged from [QLD] Roborock S7 MaxV $699 (was $888) Instore @ Harvey Norman Bundall
    Go to Deal

2 weeks ago I saw the S7 MaxV on display at Harvey Norman in Bundall (Gold Coast), clearance for $888. Pondered enough, came in this morning to buy it and suddenly they're offering it for $699. Sales guy was amused to see my surprised face.

No idea if they are offering it for the same crazy reduced price in other stores in QLD or rest of Australia, but maybe if you check with another store (or ask another retailer entirely) they can match it. The Bundall store had 8 units left 2 weeks ago and as of this morning still around 5 left. Not surprising considering they advertise it as "clearance" for $1399 online! https://www.harveynorman.com.au/roborock-s7-max-v-robotic-va…

Combine it with Roborock Australia's $599 Ultra dock (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/813062, went out of stock a couple times but is currently back in stock) and you'll end up with the complete Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra for $1298.

s7 max v ultra is still the best

      • it really is! beats s8

      • Why is the S7 MaxV Ultra better? Doesn't it have older mop technology and a more expensive dock (without heating)?

        • +2

youtube videos will show this. better watch them to learn more.

          • +1

@mr_asstight: I can't see any reviews where the s7 max Ultra is that much better than a q revo.

Sure small differences, but overall similar.

            • @kulprit: @kulprit I assume you're mistaking the S7 Max for being the same product as S7 MaxV. They're not. S7 MaxV has the superior object avoidance of any Roborock product.

    • +3

Will any store in Vic price match?

      • +1

        I wonder the same

        • @Yankyviking @cyber9uy any luck?

    • What's the difference between this and a S5 max?

      • More expensive

      • +2

Mop vibrate, mop rise, optional docking station, object detection with front camera.

        • +1

Thank you appreciate it. had my s5 a few years and still going strong so not sure worth the upgrade :(

          • @adrianhughes1998: I’m in the same boat, but with the s5 non-max. Plus my lidar unit is on the blink intermittently & a spare has been on order for a couple of weeks now…
Seeing as I live nowhere near the Goldy, I’ll hold off for a deal closer to me..

          • +1

@adrianhughes1998: The biggest difference IMO is the mop raising feature. Can theoretically do the house in one run if it's a mixture of hardfloors, carpets and rugs.

            • @mrvaluepack: Nice, my s5 max when the mop is attached doesn't go in certain rooms (that I've marked as no go mop zones), but would go in those rooms if there wasn't the mop bracket attached . Guess would make sense if there was tiles in one room mixed with carpet but there isn't so yeah..

Rock… Robot Rock… Do do dum dum

    • +1

Tried to price match it in store at HN and they couldn’t do it as it’s just way too cheap. Guy explained that the price goes into “negative commission” when it’s that low and it’s a loss for the store.

      • @WowBargain Thanks for the info! Well the deal was already moved to "insufficient quantity" so I guess that's appropriate.
But it probably still depends on the manager. For clearance items, I assume some may not care about going negative, as long as the stock is cleared at all, as sometimes happens with car dealers at the end of a calendar year.

    • +2

Sadly none left at Bundall. HN wouldn't price match over live chat and the only other local store that has it in stock is Burleigh for the regular website price.

      • Bummer! Same city and double the price, I don't get it tbh

      • There's no way the other stores will sell out their MaxV stock for that price. You could try visiting the Burleigh store every few weeks to check if they lower the price. When it reaches <1000, ask for stock level and then wait another few weeks ;)

        Yeah thats why

How good is the quality during the day though?

          • +3

@itsmoe: Thats subjective but with a proper UST screen (apparently included) and some basic daytime light control like no direct sunlight on the screen and nearby blinds employed the image is going to be good.

          • +6

@itsmoe: people buying this probably have a dedicated multimedia room with block out curtains and aircon.

          • +5

@itsmoe: Included ALR Screen – The Series L9H is perfectly paired with an ambient light rejecting (ALR) screen which means you don’t have to kill the lights to get a killer picture.

            • @Ozgrabber: Typically, are ALR screens that are included rollable or it's a panel that needs to be fixed onto a wall?

        • -3

Kogan is selling a 98" 4K QLED for 3,499 dollars, even 98 inch is a bit of an over kill tbh.

          • +9

@itsmoe: Not everybody calls 98 inch overkill. To me thats small compared to my 130 inch projected image.

          • -1

            @itsmoe:

How good is the quality during the day though?

Apparently it's ok, but a projector will never be as good as a TV. Better suited to low ambient light environments.

even 98 inch is a bit of an over kill tbh.

Not really up for us to judge what's overkill or not. It may suit some people, especially in larger rooms

            • +2

@beltdrive: Also, at least in my household… we rarely watch TV during the day… most of the time TV is used is 5pm onwards…

Takes up less space in the house, probably safer to have around kids, in certain cases easier to setup and can use the space where a huge TV unit would be for something else

      • is that you @rosebank?

        • Nuh. Great grandson of Christopher Skase.

    • You should put the $300 gift card in title definitely makes it a more enticing deal

    • +2

I have been using this on dedicated theatre room for roughly a year now and apart from VIDAA OS it's amazing value for what it costs, you can easily watch things even during day with curtains wide open but its best suited for dark environments, I've hooked up a 4k Apple TV box, HDR performance is meh but overall if you want a big boi this is prob best value for money out there with local warranty.

    • +2

I recently watched one of these (or a similar model) on an ALR screen in a very bright JB-Hifi, and the detail, clarity, and brightness blew me away.
I will get one of the short-throw laser projectors when my primary TV needs replacing unless large OLED prices drop dramatically.

      • +2

They perform extremely well compared with traditional projectors with white screens in a bright room.

You can't compare it to an OLED screen, but watching films on a 120 inch ALR/UST screen with Dolby Vision / HDR in 4K they look exceptionally great especially at night.

Having a private cinema is great and TV's cant provide that kind of entertainment just yet at an affordable price.

    • Can anyone comment on how these are compared to traditional roof projectors? Most shops seem to say stick to conventional projection if you have the room for it, but no one can properly explain why

      • Might be because the shops make more on overhead projectors, a Sony 4K LED laser overhead equivalent to this short throw will cost you $10,000.

      • +2

Why is because long throw projectors still beat UST in image quality. So if you dont need tbe UST specific benefits long throw is better. You CAN find explanations and comparisons on that but I'm speaking as a projector user for 30 years (not the same one LOL).

BTW you can use an ALR screen with long throw projectors too you know (but a different kind to UST), its not the screens that define which category of projector is capable of a superior image.

Description from Laser.com.au…of 7" CarPlay & Android Auto Touchscreen: Drive Smart NAVC-BHUD-982

Create a powerful and convenient to use entertainment system inside your car with the Navig8r 7-inch Portable CarPlay/Android Auto Touchscreen Display.
    Key Features

Made with a 7-inch display for optimal viewing
Features a wireless connection for convenient, hands-free connectivity
Simply instruct and read out your messages (S2T) and your speech is conveniently converted to text
Comes with a choice of preset stations on the device, allowing you to enjoy audio from the car's audio system

    • Does it have a way to play audio via the car's audio system? Not clear from the description. It mentions something about an FM transmitter, but it talks about radio stations not sharing the device audio.

      • +1

FM transmitter - with a choice of preset stations on the device, simply tune your FM radio to one of the preset stations and enjoy audio from the cars audio system. Alternately there is a built in speaker in the device if you dont want to use the cars stereo

      • +1

I would assume it casts any audio over the FM transmitter

    • +1

Slightly off topic but what would I look for if I wanted something like this but doesn't need to attach to my phone? Previously we had a Joying 7" head unit that connected to in-car WiFi (an optus mobile broadband dongle connected to the cigarette lighter) and also had a wiring harness which wired up to ingcar speakers, so no phone needed. It had access to the full play store so we could download radio apps etc. Do they even make this type of setup anymore? Seems like everyone is going for Android auto but I don't want to use my phone at all.

      • Latest Android headunit for your specific car would work best. I'm running a unit in my i30 that looks like a factory item but runs full android similar to your Joying.
I noticed there is a big variation in specs though from seller to seller

        • I've got an old Outlander so not sure they would make one specific to my car. I took out the stock single din radio and tape deck and replaced the fascia with a proper double din mount so when the Joying was installed it looked factory. Watched a lot of YouTube to figure it out but it's been years since.

I wonder if I could just replace with any double din 7" Android head unit. Seems like the brand label ones use carplay though, I need one with full Android.

Can I ask what brand is yours on your i30? Did you get it from ebay or a b&m retailer?

    • +1

No stock or available for delivery in NSW.

Also this transmits only via FM. The unit does not pair with car Bluetooth or has aux output.

On the plus side full year warranty, better than purchasing from AliExpress.

      • -1

While you get a warranty, you could get 2-3 from aliexpress for similar money

    • Just a sidenote to your original post.

Your posted board is apparently also magnetic.

      BUT.

The other example you listed, actually has the same sizing available at $179. I'm wondering if it may actually be the same product. If not, atleast a much closer comparison. 😅

      • +1

Just looking at the manual I see is that the old version actually includes 2x strong magnets but the new one doesn't (they specify in the listing "You will require super strong magnets, with the product code of JBC3M6POGB, for optimal use of the magnetic feature."

Mounting rail is different length but apart from that, it's a metal backed piece of glass so wouldn't expect much difference, a slightly revised package (listed weights are quite different though, maybe now thinner glass).

Noticed the old manual also says 8 year warranty (despite 12 months on page) but new manual doesn't mention warranty.

        • Haha, nice work. So I'm guessing the older version is the one in the deal and might actually be the better product? 🤔

      • +1

Its really only useful for tiny lawns, I bought one for my mother in laws place where she has a tiny lawn and I dont have to move mine to her place and get grass everywhere. For a full size lawn, this is a no goer

        • And that's why you purchase additional batteries.

          • @chrism238: No, its not just a matter of additional batteries. The mower itself is as weak as piss.

Great for small lawns but you 100% have to keep an eye on it.

        • For a full size lawn, this is a no goer

It is used on plenty of decent sized lawns on the FB group. I use it on a 140 m2 front lawn easily.

i literally have to empty it 2-3 times to finish my 4x10m lawn

      • +1

I took one look at the catcher and decided to skip it.

    • +6

How do we know this is this correct price across all stores? I would say this is Cannington store specific. It's already been noted that SA has been cheaper and NSW not even matching this level. In fact nryby shows the price is $219.

      • +2

Yeah still shows $219 in the powerpass app when I search it as well

    • -2

FYI - wont stripe up lawn very well, roller has no weight to it.

I used mine twice, bent reel and retrned. Purchased Scott Bonnar.. haha.

Would suit very small areas maybe - under 100m2

      • +4

Potential mods include steel roller, weight on top and carpet on underside of catcher to enhance stripes.

    • +2

There's an entire Facebook group dedicated to this mower.
I bought one and joined the group because of the hype.

IMO it's overrated. I bought one used and the cutter bar was warped and didn't line up with the cutting blades well.
You need to try and adjust it then backlap it with grinding paste.

For $99 is cheap enough to see what the hype is about, but expect to do some work on it to maintain it

I didn't have much luck so got rid of it.

I found a regular rotary mower easier for buffalo grass

      • +1

I got a 2nd hand one first and didn't have any of these issues you should have returned your faulty one

      • Yeh most buff is going to be too long for any type of cylinder mower to be fair.

If you want stripes grab a hybrid rotary roller mower. They are a little more than $99 though lol

        • Would you say it's best to use a rotary to chop the bulk of the grass, then run a cylinder mower like this to just snip the tops and make it look tidy?

          • +1

@montorola: You may need to with an initial mow, or with a mow after a longer period of growth if things have gotten out of hand.

But ideally, with either a cylinder/reel or a rotary, you don't want to be cutting more than about 1/3 of the length of your grass when you mow.

    • +4

I have heard that these 18v Mowers (Specifically the Ozito 18v, but likely applies to all 18v mowers) are a little weak.
Might be alright if you look after your lawn and keep on-top of it, but if you don't feel like mowing every week to ensure the grass doesn't grow too long then you may need something a little more powerful.

For context, I have a 36v Ryobi Lawn Mower (RLM36X46BL) and it struggles to cut damp grass, I have to wait like 3+ days after a rainy day (eg. Today in Melbourne) for the grass to dry up enough so it will cut the grass without struggling, and one would perceive Ryobi > Ozito and 36v 4ah > 18v 4ah so yeah….

      • +5

        Totally different use case.

        Cylinder mower ≠ rotary mower

        • My last mower had a 1.3L twin rotor, sounded nice but just burned oil like there was no tomorrow.

      • +5

This is a cylinder mower, you don't use it on long grass… You use it on your golf course

        • +3

Don’t have a golf course, guess I need to give it a miss 😁

        • I own the Ozito cylinder mower, and it's been fine on my Buffalo after not being mowed for ten weeks and after my sprinklers have run the same morning.

Did it stall a couple of times in the damp, wet stuff? Yes, but it still got through it.

Dont write these off, they do a great job, especially for the coin. There are plenty of Ozito owners on the Aus Lawn Fanatics page who rate them.

      • Yeah heard the same, mate has Dewalt 36v and says a clover can basically stop it. I forked out for Ego instead and it hasn't missed a beat in the last 2 years.

      • most mowers struggle on damp grass, cut in the arvo or early evening

    • +2

As someone who knows jack about mowing, what's so special about this mower ?

      • Also wondering what it is

      • +5

It's a cheap, electric cylinder mower that can give a sharp clean cut. It can also mow quite low (down to 14mm).

      • +10

Cylinder mowers are favoured over traditional styles by lawn enthusiasts due to the very clean cut (they work like rotary scissors) and are capable of cutting the grass quite short without scalping it. Cylinder mowers are traditionally fairly expensive as they're more mechanically complex, and sold in much lower volume.

Ozito makes an electric model that is very appealing due to its very low price, but it's even cheaper with this discount, especially considering that the deal includes a battery that's worth 30-40% of the total price.

      • I've got one, I just liked that it was small, cordless and electric. I still need to bust out the regular mower for dandelions and other tall shit that grows in the lawn. This mower doesn't cut dandelion flowers well, or really at all.

    • Paid 170 at bennetts green nsw today they wouldn't match other stores happy to have a spare tho at that price

      • +1

I got one last week from there for $170 by asking them to price match the $120 others were reporting at the time. They said that $170 was the best they could do and stores that only had one or two might be inclined to sell them cheaper to clear them out.

    • This shows price and stock at each store that has them, just click on the three dots next to the store name and select store price.

      https://bunnings.youinstock.com.au/search/0497957

      • +4

The price is not correct on this website. The photo above shows $99 ar Cannington, but the website shows $219.

        • That’s pretty odd, I’ve found the website accurate at my local, I have certain tools on a watch list and when they drop on there they are the same in store.

I guess it shows nothing is infallible, might be interesting to see if the site shows $99 tomorrow.

    • -4

are these any good for back hair?
      asking for my mother.

    • -9

Might as well buy a slightly more expensive petrol mower that will actually do the job

      • +1

You do realise how much a petrol cylinder mower costs?

      • +1

        Lol @ slightly

    • Any reason besides from price anyone would buy this over a regular battery mower?

      • +1

If you just want to mow your lawn, there's no reason to consider this model over regular ones. This one will be smaller and slower, and the advantages of cylinder mowers are lost on all but the most enthusiastic lawnkeepers.

      • I think they are supposed to cut grass so it looks pretty.

      • Without the catcher it's quite small.

    • +1

Gah I have been eyeing this off for months now.

    • +7

Just beware that cylinder mowers in general are more suited for well maintained flat lawns.

If you have a bumpy lawn, better good with a tradition rotary mower.

    • +1

I don't think this price is available at all stores though. I vaguely remember seeing those at $219 or so at Springvale store yesterday.

Can anyone recommend me a good mower for about 75 sqm lawn? Moving to a new place and never had used these before. I gathered that 36 V non cylindrical ones are the goto and I already got 2 Ozito batteries.

    • -21

Ozito is very much a dog water brand. The kind that people leave at work once they have quit the job.

      • Naaa not dog water.

Orzito is mad lit on God. No caps!

        • -4

Aw damn, all the non qualified tradespersons voted me down.

          • +1

@teabogan: Maybe voted down by the qualified ones too as they realise this brand might not be particularly for them; but do see the value Orzito represents for non tradespersons.

            • @Eeples: Yeah man, let's all buy 'full boar' tools too, whilst we are at it =~]

      • +1

        Username checks out!

    • Does anyone have a receipt for this at $99 so we can try and price match? Seems to be $219 at every other Bunnings unless I'm mistaken?

    • Even Cannington Bunnings shows as $219 on the stock checker.
I'm guessing this is where maulmonk purchased this for $99, maybe the stock checker doesn't reflect special mark downs.

    • +4

Went to to a couple local ones today and one on the way to work and they were all $219. Must be some stores only.

    • receipt please
      tia

    • As other comments - looks like that price is specific to that store. My trip to Bunnings ended with nothing. $219 tag and asked employees about it, they said it had to be store specific.

    • I understand that cylinder mowers are not the best choice for buffalo grass as they cut too short? What do you think.

      • You can't get as low as other varieties, but if your buffalo turf is largely flat and not spongey, you can certainly mow it with a cylinder mower like this at ~20-30mm height and enjoy all the same benefits.

        • Ok, I think my buffalo is thick and normally cut high, I seen many recommending to cut it from at least 30 to 50, so unless you set this to the max height of 38, it would be too risky to damage it.

          • @huntabargain: You would probably need to do a lawn renovation, cut it lower and get the thatch out. Flatten it out etc.

After that is all complete (it'll take 3-4 weeks to recover), you could then start mowing lower with a cylinder mower like this, and as long as you stay on top of it you'll have a beautiful lawn for months/years to come.

YouTube videos on "lawn renovation" or "buffalo renovation", it's a bit of work but absolutely worth it if you can spare the time.

      • I don't know about this one but as a kid I tried to use a new manual powered cylinder mower on buffalo grass and it was terrible. The grass was clearly too long and thick, and it would jam with every push. I don't know if this would be much better but I doubt it. Mine was a solingen branded one sold in Big W at the time alongside a flymo one that cost a few bucks more.

I know people are saying that these are great for putting greens and the like, but in that case couldn't you just use a push one in case of such fine grass? Then you wouldn't have to run the battery.

    • Must be select stores only. My local has it $219 reduced from $249

    • -1

Mods asleep on this deal (4 reports as of this morning). No way voting should be 87 for a store specific deal and store only has 2 units mind you.

    • Its $219 at Bunning Tarneit, trip wasted.

      • +1

Could have just used a phone and called up first?

        • Was not aware of different pricing at different bunning stores.

    • Also, $219 at Hoppers Crossing.

    • I checked Thomastown in VIC yesterday. Still sitting at $219 with 5 left in stock. I've asked to price match but person said they dont price match clearance items from other Bunnings stores.

      • Weird, I called them about anither product and they said they did

    • -1

Is this suitable for overgrown buffalo grass? say like 6 inches tall?

      • +1

        Absolutely not

    • +1

Was able to price match at Stafford,QLD

      • +2

@kapil27: How did you do that? All Bunnings I’ve been to have been adamant they won’t price match other Bunnings stores. Do you remember who you spoke to?

        • +1

I just went to counter and asked if they can price match.
It was nice lady and she happily did it for me

          • @kapil27: I picked one up at Stafford today too. Guess it really depends on who you ask

          • @kapil27: Would you be able to post the receipt please

      • Can you post the receipt pls, so I can go there and do the same. Virginia wouldn't budge

      • I asked for price match but in vain.

    • Still $219 at Malaga in WA.

      • Can't find the single one at Bayswater. Oh well.

        • +2

You'll never find the single item remaining … it's a magical golden fleeced platinum toothed unicorn that doesn't actually exist.
So if you see 2 in stock, you're getting the last one.

          • +1

@liam2040: It's like when you place an online order at Super Cheap Auto which says it's in stock. You get a call later from the store saying "We can't find the stock. The system says there are two in stock but we can't find them".

    • Can anyone upload a copy of their receipt? My local is difficult and will only price match if I give them a garbage story that my cousin just bought one blah blah

      • +1

uploaded now. edited into original post

    • Not $99 at Port Melbourne. $219 is the price today.

      • same, called some stores and they replied $219

    • +5

Ask to speak to the store manager… mention that it's a discontinued item and selling at other stores for (in this case) $110. Worked for me and @satcher on Saturday at Vermont South.

Receipt I used (not mine but uploaded by a member of the FB group):
      https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/226071/109658/bunnings…

    • It was posted on a FB before Christmas that this cylinder mower kit was on sale for $120 in a store in Adelaide, and when I went to my local Bunnings last week after the new year and tried to match it, I talked to a staff and he gave a straight answer without evening looking that they can't match other stores, then I asked to talk to a supervisor, and I told him it's a deleted item and on clearance, and he said that the lower I can do is $180, and I got one for that price.

      https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/407398/109660/fb_img_1…

    • Just spoke with Bunnings Cannington and they said it's $219 and that there was no way it'd have been sold for $99. I gave them the item number listed at the top here.

      • Whoever you spoke to had no idea what they were talking about. Its likely the items been taken off their systems so maybe they couldn't find it.

        • She did look it up on their system using the item number I provided and told me that it's $219.

          • +1

@WestAussie: I did ask the store lady about OP's photo and she said it was a return item and hence its price was reduced to $99.

            • +1

@WestAussie: I just picked up one listed at $219 instore at Heatherbrae, they have 4 left, and asked for them to price match this post, lady gave it to me for $110. Not the skin version either, comes with battery and charger, just went and used it, works really well but I do have couch grass.

      • You think the OP's pic is fake?

        • I did ask the store lady about it and she said it was a return item and hence its price was reduced to $99.

Got the last one from belmont bunnings, price matched for 99 from OP

    • no go at Oakleigh south, but they were willing to reduce it to $150, around 5 left.

    • There are 11 units available at Bunnings Maddington, but the saleswoman isn't willing to sell it for $99. She firmly stated that despite it being a discontinued item, she won't sell it below $219. The Maddington and Cannington stores are only 2 kilometers apart. Oh Well I tried.

      • Same she was quite vocal about it too !

    • No such luck either @ Caroline Springs VIC (10 on display), manager mentioned they would only reduce further if they were down to their last 1 or 2 to clear space.

Also pointed to a price policy print out saying they do not match other Bunnings stores.

    • $219 hoppers crossing vic yesterday :(

Not so much of a deal - the motherboard is ~100, CPU can be found for ~130-150. Still, the combo is not bad for someone upgrading from years ago that need the m2 slots.
