No, upgrade to a Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 router if your devices are capable of it.
Was it actually Leaptel or nbn doing the work? Launtel is using Superloop for backhaul and Leaptel is also switching to Superloop backhaul.
All providers and nbn do planned maintenance after midnight. Not all providers email you about it.

A new VDSL2 modem might help on FTTN. What modem are you using now? If not you will just have to wait for FTTP to fix the FTTN problems.
