So 256gb for $1046 and $350 gift card?
    That's it right?

(2)Can I add my device for trade in with this deal?

    • +5

Yeah I think you can trade in but I don't think you get a $350 gift card…. It says "This offer is not available in conjunction with any other JB Hi-Fi mobile or broadband offer or trade-in coupon offer or Google Pixel gift card offer."

But I will let you know! I am going tomorrow at 9am to try and get it. Hopefully a $350 gift card too!!

      • It’s showing the same offer on the 128GB variant too, which makes the initial deal posted even sweeter. I don’t see why it shouldn’t stack, if they’re going with the same promo ran previously on the Pro 9 XL

        • +4

Yeah I just want the pink one…. 😍

          • @Jasbones: same

share your exprience with us tomorrow thanks

        • @Jasbones may want to edit post.
"DON'T MISS OUT ON THESE!" - doesn't apply for 128GB (maybe it's been changed but never intended for that one I'd say).

          Get $1700 off a Google Pixel 9 Pro 256GB or 512GB Phone.

        • How many Pro 9 will you will this time? Lol

          • @DraggyX: I’m on break from Telstra after the last fiasco xD

            • @BargainsGrabber: what fiasco? S24U or something else?

              • @sonic-juggernaut: My service when I signed up to the 9 Pro XL deal took a week when others took 24-48 hours

JB gave verbal confirmation that since I had signed up during the promo period, they could honour the phone deal with the preorder bonus

                • @BargainsGrabber: Hey BG, do you know if I could swap the p9 pro XL for this? It is unopened

      • You'd want to organise the trade before buying the new phone, otherwise have fun on marketplace. Waiting for an eBay no fee selling promo.

Do they organise trades instore since this deal instore only?

Bit hard to say I think you'd still get the $350 GC (for purchase of a pro 9, just don't get the usual trade in GC but can trade phone).
Seems pointless to try and trade as well for these kind of big voucher deals - last I checked get $390 trade for P8 128GB, but I'm sure could sell on ebay for at least $500. Would still be alright to get rid of it.

Let us know if the CIS contract is still a $800 cancellation fee (not $1700 same as voucher).

      • Let us know how you went?

        • +1

@Jasbones still not back from the store, I'm now scared to drop by the store lol

          • +8

@sonic-juggernaut: Sorry, I updated the top bit and wasn't sure who to reply to and switched to new phone!

Deal acquired! Paid $99 + $2 for sim and phone plan, paid $147 for deal, got a receipt that says $1847 with $1700 off online voucher.

And also got a $350 gift card yay!

I haven't tried to cancel yet but the JB HiFi employee said that maximum charge to cancel would be $766.67 (-1/24 cost for the repay voucher of $800) so if you wanted to keep the plan for more than 1 month then it would go down by $33.33 each month until you cancel!

I am going to attempt to cancel and see what they say for cost. But I was gonna keep the plan for a month at least because why not..

            • @Jasbones: Good work, that's the deal you'd expect. Would be a good phone to keep but the plan is an overkill.

what sim $2 and activated for $0?

              • @G-rig: The JB HiFi employee just did it for me, it was a telstra sim.

Actually check my bank again and sim was free. So only paid $99 and $147 today.

Defs not gonna keep the plan!

                • @Jasbones: sweet. I guess BYO can just be a new sim no need to port a dud number/sim unless already have one lying around.

            • @Jasbones: Did you try the trade-in?

              • @babyboii: Trade in old phone? nah the website said my phone was worth $11 so I didn't bother. Google website trade in says its now worth $300 but their deal is less good. (pixel 6 pro full smashed but functional)

            • @Jasbones: nice thank you! also, looks like you got lucky with the GC because a lot of folks have been saying they got denied.

(side Q: which $2 sim did you get? all sims look like you gotta credit like $10 to activate them)

              • @sonic-juggernaut: Sorry, they actually just gave me the sim for free and got a new number. I didn't pay for it, I got confused!

            • @Jasbones: If the receipt says $1847, can I use it to get tax back at the airport? I thought that you wouldn't be able to with a plan since you only really paid $147.

              • +1

@StealaDeal: you can. just show the receipt and claim against it. don't worry about the plan whatsoever.

            • -1

@Jasbones: Could you flick the photo of the receipt to me please. I wanna have a look at what if says about the final price, I mean how much would I be able to claim for tax.

              • @flame143: Just claim it all, percentage or none.

If you were paying 99/m you'd be claiming that cost over 24 months.

            • @Jasbones: not sure how you were able to acquire this. my store refused to as they said the deals don't stack and it's either GC or the $1700 off on the 99 plan

    • +1

Yes, you can trade in your old phone won't be a problem. But you're not supposed to get the $350 gift card but as many people have said in the comments here it depends on where you go. This is the first time that I've seen the gift card not stack and the only way staff would know would be if they actually read the daily memo.

      • The first thing the staff said when I asked for the phone was that I can either choose $1700 off without the $350 GC or $1200 off with GC. I didn't even ask about the deal, it was almost like they were actually pulled into an emergency meeting or something to make them aware of this thing lol

      • How do you trade it in, just take in-store? Realise no trade in bonus GC but the deal should be the same otherwise?

        • All the trade in stuff is actually all done online now. If you take it into a store they will just tell you to do it online, we're actually not allowed to do it for you. If you just google "jb hifi trade in" it should be the first link. How it works its
          - you answer questions about the condition of the phone
          - they give you a quote for what they think it's worth.
          - once you accept you are emailed the gift card.
          - they will put a holding charge of the gift card value on a credit/debit card
          - you then have a week to mail them the phone so you can transfer data, they email you all the postage stuff
          - once they get the phone they will remove the holding charge or keep some depending on their assessment of the phone

          • @AnotherTelcoWorker: Yeah I've done it a few times. Thought you had to order the new phone online as part of that process. Cheers.

          • @AnotherTelcoWorker: Would the holding charge include the bonus value of the trade in as well? Sometimes it's like the trade in value of my phone is $250 but there is a trade in bonus of another $400. If I fail to return the phone, do they deduct $250 or $650? Thanks.

            • @flame143: Usually separate, just make sure send phone in otherwise get charged $250. When I didn't they charged me credit card because spent the $300 bonus voucher from the new phone. Confusing AF and didn't seem right but there was no bonus voucher or something (because big discount on pixel 9).

Think you're better off going for the better deal ($1700 off) and just sell phone to MM etc

            • @flame143: I don't belive that they add it to the holding charge but like G-rig said I have heard of them just charging the card. So it would be $650. Also, be aware that you can't use the bonus coupon with the JB mobile gift cards/offers.

  • Is there a workaround if I have a current JBhifi post paid plan? I need to keep my number too..

    • +1

Available instore only. Available to port-in and new customers only (excluding JB Upfront/Prepaid, The Good Guys Mobile & Broadband, Telstra or Boost).

I thought it used to be easier if you had a Telstra ID or something. I guess port out to any other Sim first (amaysim etc) then use that for the byo deal sign-up.

Most people just get a new number if they are going to cancel.

    • +2

Work-around with the intention of cancelling? Just get a brand new number and cancel it (as G-rig said as well)

  • +4

    Shouldn't Effective Price if you want to cancel = $147 + 99 + $766 = $1012.67?

  • Assume you can use a gift card for the difference

    • Always can!

  • This one is only available for port in but not new number right?

    • -2

      Wrong

      • Byo, but people have been getting a $2 Telstra Sim in store. Whatever is easiest

      • Actually you're wrong, all contract deals are port-in only.

The $350 gift card bonus, does not require anything.
Source: Just left JB Hi-Fi store who assumed I was buying outright, which then became a port process… And Telstra ID verification services are down. That's Black Friday + 3G cancellation day combined for you!

        • This deal is for both port-in and new numbers

  • How does cancellation work? Do you just port your number out of telstra to your preferred carrier and telstra follows up, or do you cancel with telstra first, and port to your preferred carrier before the first month ends?

    • Couldn't you just sign up for a new number if you're planning on cancelling it anyway?

      • It's funny you can't just sign up for a new number, have to bring your own from another sim.

I got a 2$ voda sim, isn't activated but just get something like that.

        • Ugh how annoying. I got the Pixel 8 Pro through HN cancel last year, and could fortunately sign up for a new number, and cancelled it when I got home.

          • @matictac: Got it on a new number today - will cancel in a few days time!

        • +1

Sign up with new number was possible for me, just issues with the Telstra system and a very long wait time yesterday.

          • @johnmelb: Unsurprisin - they were flat out not working an hour ago. 3G ceasing + Black Friday = Telstra broken. Considering Optus deal now for the sake of (profanity) Telstra @JB

            • @parad0x: When's black Fri, what is this 3G

    • +1

Last month I ported my number to Belong I received the $766 final bill after 2 days. I didn't contact Telstra and JB.

      • Simply by porting out and you only contacted belong?

  • Does signing up/cancelling affect your credit score?

    • +1

      credit check not credit score.

Sign up to Equifax to check if you are worried
      https://www.equifax.com.au/personal/

Unfortunately I didn't have it for a few months so can't see if it dipped down and up again but wouldn't worry about it (and still excellent).

      • Credit score is right.

The credit score gets checked with a credit check. You can't have a bad credit check, it can turn out to be bad, when the score is bad.

        • +4

Not sure who downvoted me, I thought applying for forms of credit reduce your credit score. Specifically I was wondering about the cancellation of the contract

          • @DeToxin: Someone who couldn’t be bothered to answer your original comment with a no,
just gave you a negative vote instead,
and now people are giving you up votes to feel better.
Upvoted your original comment, feel better dude .
            lol

            • @beach bum: I don't think anyone has actually answered my question though. I know the credit check alone won't affect my credit score (unless you're getting a lot of credit checks for some reason), but I'm interested in the cancellation.

It seems like people are unsure about the final cost now too given the differences between JB and Telstra terms.

Don't think I'll bother with this deal

      • Hi @G-rig

I missed a payment for $89 in August paid back in 5 days , no dues. I believe my credit score has gone to Average from Very Good. Can I get the plan or shall I consider it as a lost opportunity.

        • Dunno but wouldn't worry.

    • -1

Go to JB, sign up for a new number, cancel it immediately and it's <900 dollars.

Not sure why you'd go to OW

      • How is it less than $900 for the 256. It's closer to to $1000

      • I don't think you can sign up for a new number though, it says bring your own number - maybe get a $2 sim ready before you go in

        • yes assume that's the way to do it. You'd have to activate it so maybe need to charge $10-12 like most sims to set it up.
Just don't get Telstra or boost.

        • I just got Pixel Pro 9 512 and got the new number from JB HIFI. They applied $1700 discount.

          • @dharmesht: Total out of pocket?

            • @retnup: $347 + $99 + Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee ($800) = 1246.

I have not cancelled plan yet.

Plus, I will get $350 JB card when I pick up my phone tomorrow.

  • +1

@retnup maybe post it in classifieds or you'll get pinged for selling here..

Agree, the OW deal isn't anywhere near as good, don't get $1700 off.
Rather get stuck with JB vouchers than OW vouchers.

@NotSuchABigMac it's because you can trade in and get a trade in GC $400. Perhaps could trade to get rid of phone then return unopened to OW?

  • Dam im just going to buy this for that Rose Quartz color..

    • Shame the 9 Pro has matte back glossy sides, not bad if it's a dark gloss not chrome on the black (but with a case on you'd wouldn't see it).
Matte on matte would be the best.

ps. Should get a free year of Gemini with the Pixel 9 Pro still I believe.

  • -3

    Can I return the pixel for $1847 gift card after paying $147 + $800 + $99?

I want to buy something else.

    • -2

Why neg me? Posts in the 128GB deal were talking about this and I just wonder if it's the same deal other than different prices

      • Depends on the store and staff member you get. Some don’t care others will make up rules to stop you from returning it

      • I think it depends if it gets flagged when you return, my receipt says "03 online gift card $1700.00" so maybe if someone doesn't realize it could work…

  • +1

Can get 9 Pro XL instead?

    • I asked in store and they told me this deal is just for Pro. But for XL we can try the $99 monthly plan with $1200 off something

  • The link to the Telstra CIS by OP indicates that if you get an $800 voucher, the maximum repayment is $800.

The Ts&Cs linked to this offer has no cap. It says you repay the entire voucher on a pro rata basis. The $800 limit in the CIS is different from the Ts&Cs, so there is an arguable case of an ACL representation having been made, but is it confirmed that Telstra (and JB) will limit the repayment to the $800?

    https://www.telstra.com.au/content/dam/tcom/personal/consume…

    • Where is that linked on the offer page? The link I find on the jb hi-fi pixel 9 pro $1700 voucher offer takes me to the page which shows an $800 Max cap.

      • Terms. Not CIS. It's actually linked twice.

        • Ahh I see it now thanks. So a discrepancy between the CIS and T&Cs

          • @JaaayD: Arguably not. The CIS has voucher of $800 with voucher repayment of $800. JB state on the $1200 voucher page (on their standard $99 per month mobile plan details) that the $800 is replaced with $1200 voucher amount. Assume this one replaces it with $1700. It is arguable that both $800 amounts are replaced with $1200 (on standard JB plan) and $1700 (on P9P promo).

I did this sort of deal 5 years ago when there was an explicit cap on the cancellation fee for the plan. Now that the fee relates to the voucher rather than the plan, it is less clear.

As I say, arguable ACL claim if Telstra follow the Ts&Cs (and demand repayment of $1700) vs the interpretation of the CIS where the fee is arguably capped ($800). Just want to know their approach.

            • @Trosticles: According to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/866578

"JB Hi-Fi Voucher" is not the same as "Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee". The upsized JB Hi-Fi voucher in the CIS will not be updated upon signing up to the contract, thus will remain at the base value stipulated in the CIS.

              • @FatTofu: But in the T&C section 6.2 it states "If you received a JB Hi-Fi Voucher when you purchased your Mobile Service and you cancel
that Mobile Service within any applicable Voucher Term, you must pay us the outstanding amounts for the JB Hi-Fi Voucher you received for the cancelled Mobile Service (the Voucher
                Repayment Fee)"

Like JaaayD said, the CIS doesn't match the T&C

                • @noone: But the fine print of some deals state "replacing" CIS voucher $ with T&C voucher $ while others don't.

            • @Trosticles: Also interesting to note that the other 128GB deal (https://imgur.com/a/CsA3h4v) has "replacing the dollar value of the Voucher in CIS" but this 256/512GB deal (https://imgur.com/a/x7lAczb) does not have that language.

              • @FatTofu: Yep, it's a bit of a mess.

I expect I could fight (and win) to cap the refund, if required. But it would be good to know their actual policy. Also, what Bargainsgrabber said a month ago is not the same as confirmed experiences today, so figured I'd ask first.

  • +3

What's wrong with Nokia 110 or 125 which were $15-$20 on catch last night?

  • +13

Got this this morning. Can confirm got the $350 gift card on top.

Couldn't use the gift card to pay the $147 for the 256gb model but that's all good.

So all said and done $2050 worth of gift cards to sign up.

Out of pocket today $99 for the plan and $147 for the 246gb model.

Also confirmed the termination for the plan is $800.

    • Did you confirm the $800 termination plan with JB employee or Telstra rep?

      • +1

With JB. Had up it up on the screen as part of the contract.

        • -1

So you’re paying $800+$99+$147 and getting back $1700+$350 should you decide to return the phone.

          • +1

@nightelves: I can't comment on the return of the phone as I have been holding out for this and intend on keeping it. My pixel 6 is struggling battery wise.

      • Yeah rep confirm it as well for me.

    • Thats really good if you got the $350 gift card on top.

      $1847 ($1700 off) = $147 + 99 + $800 - $350 = $696 and if you can get the $99 refunded its $597
