    • Good job.
JB/Telstra seemed to have a lot of issues with activating my service too - ended up having to wait almost 3 hours.
I did not get a phone upgrade though.
I did get the $350 (and some free accessories ~$150 RRP).
Note that the $50 screen protector I got, doesn't really look/feel better than the $3 aliexpress ones I have.

      • +2

My local JB is essentially a reception deadzone, the authorisation/sign up process took some time lol.

I probably could have pushed harder on the discounts too but its not in my nature. Overall very satisfied and the phone has been great so far.

I don't have any experience with aliexpress screens but the one I got was the Zagg brand. Its the first I've had with an installation kit which made the process very easy, aside from my installing it upside down and (very carefully) removing and reinstalling it :)

Don't forget to get your $99 refund if you are planning on cancelling your service.

        • every time I try to get the refund, they (JB support) won't allow as they keep noting that we've agreed to pay this, etc. They refuse to refund the $99.

          • +1

@djmiko: Try Telstra chat instead - have had success on there

      • which jb did u go to?

    • Did you cancel through Telstra or jbhifi?

      • +1

        Telstra chat easier imo.

      • +1

Telstra Chat. They are pretty slow with replies.

      • Jb chat no luck 3 times

Telstra chat directly, first go no issue and got it cancelled and refund processed as well

Did it 5 days after signup

  • Any store in Sydney happy to give $350 voucher? Going to signing up 2 number before 5th November.

    • +1

I was able to get the 350$ gift card at the counter at broadway, although when I signed up for the deal at the phone section the lady specifically said you can't stack them together. I ordered the phone as a transfer from another store last week and went to pick it up today. It seems like alot of people have been getting lucky at the register when asking about it, as it is a different person .

  • Seems like 512GB is out of stock. Can we place back order in store and use this deal?

    • +1

I was told I could today. Manager said something about them using a 'temp IMEI' at the registers, allowing customers to take up the offer before it expires. You would still need to make payment same day.

I ended up going with a different deal though and got a 256gb transferred from a different store.

      • Thank you so much for the info. Wish i can manage with 256GB but unfortunately I'm one of those old school people who has offline music and content.

        • +1

Majority of my stuff is offline as well. Don't take a huge amount of photos/videos. I reckon most of storage is whatsapp media. Will eventually move stuff to the cloud.

    • +1

@urluv4u: My 512GB was put through as a delivery order as no stores with stock that could do a transfer without waiting weeks

      • Thank you for the info :) I guess you paid upfront too?

  • Have anyone tried returning the phone + trade in?
Do you get the full refund? Or exclude trade in amount?

    • +1

      Bought by mistake? 😂
No. Waste of time just keep it.
      No returns remember..

      • +1

I actually returned mine for a different colour same model no questions asked, I picked up the pink because it was the only one in stock but got a black one coming (went in the next day) from like 100km away to my local store. Yet to collect but should be here today or tomorrow.

        • Nice.. Sounds like an exchange not a return.

It all depends if the people on the cash registers are having a good or bad day I guess.

          • @G-rig: Yeah you're right sorry, interestingly I got a new receipt however that show's the full amount and no mention of any gift cards etc.

So if you could be bothered you could do an exchange, and then do a return/swap for another product I imagine.

Unless they follow the trail of receipts.

Thanks to whoever cancelled their pickup from JB Southland, got the last 256GB Obsidian.

The guy made sure to fill me in regarding the ozbargain confusion regarding the $350 gift cards haiyaaa

    • Only a handful still unaware. I was told twice to collect it but didn’t get it, however I left a message for the manager next day and got callback with not the ful, 350, but 220 as a goodwill gesture and for the confusion as I went for 256 based on getting a gc back

  • Could we expect similar or cheaper deals by the end of the year?
New to the pixel scene so has anyone seen a similar timeline for the pixel 8?

  • If I order online to buy it outright with delivery, will I have full invoice and gst as well?

    • -1

      Yep, definitely.

  • Can someone help me understand how to Port out and bring back my number (I want to keep the $99 plan for a couple of months, please forgive me my sins).I've read through this and other threads but still not sure.

I'm on a jb hi Fi plan. Do I need to have ported out and paid any final invoice before I can come back? Or is there a minimum time period?

    Thanks for any help!

  • +1

Got 256gb Hazel today and the guy in store told that they can’t give the 350$ voucher. But instead he offered 220$ off (1627$ for the phone) if I go for a care plan which is 14.99$ pm (first month free and can cancel at anytime). So instead of me paying the 147$ they gave me 73$ voucher balance.

I got it just now from Marion JB-HiFI. I didnt even asked for this deal. I was pretending to compare 2 deals they had S24 vs P6 256GB. Sales guy approached me and told me i can get $350 if I buy Pixel. He himself took me to the cashier and completed the payment etc… I have not spoke to Telstra yet, so 50% work done. need to 1) cancel the service 2) request credit back. Will post an update later. Marion still had stock in White and Pink for 256GB. They had Black and White for 128GB as at 12 noon.

    • Finding return air ticket BNE to ADL now

    • Awesome! Will try to go to Marion tomorrow and see if i can get this deal.

    • +1

Update - Just cancelled the service. Already got an email to confirm. $767 was charged. They didnt want to refund $99 fee. However I been with Telstra for years (i know and dont ask as true OZB should not )and asked them politely again. As the fees are "pending" they said check back in 5 days and they will refund. So PE pro 25GB cost = 147+767-350=564

I cant claim TRS…otherwise this would be one of the best prices i could ever get. thank you OP!!!

Wollongong Refused the $350 gift card - No Stacking of deals!
    &
by paying the monthly Telstra fee of $99 (by credit card) Telstra also declined to refund this as well.

So I paid Google Pixel 9 Pro - $125 for the phone, $766.59 account cancellation fee & $99 first month fee = $990.59

I got online with JB HiFi and requested they assist me to get the $350 gift card. Even sent the photo with the receipt showing the gift card posted higher in this thread. I will be contacted apparently. (Fingers crossed but not holding a lot of hope.)

Any tips are most welcome to help me get this gift card!!!!!!

    • Success I got the GiftCard - see below

  • I think all the confusion is due to the fact that past deals that were similar where you get extra on the gift card towards a phone purchase on a plan, had other bonuses like chrome cast AND another item AND a gc OR just a gc but changed for the 9pro, however I think the xl as a preorder had gc included as well so you’d think 9pro would the same until you read the conditions thoroughly

Any store in MEL still offers 350 gift card?

    • None…

  • Any store in Sydney still offers 350 gift card along with 1700 off?

    • None at marsden park or mt druitt

  • Has anyone buying the 512 had the store place an order due to local stores being oos? When I purchased in store on monday, they told me to expect delivery via AusPost on Friday at the latest. I took the day off so that I'd be home to sign for it, but nothing was delivered. Should they have given me an AP tracking number? Has anyone else had delays?
It seems ridiculous to be paying $99/m for a plan that I can't use for the first week while waiting for the phone.

    • If you don't activate the Sim you can get that $99 refunded if you are planning to cancel and use your own plan

  • +1

Success ***** I got online and requested the $350 Gift Card with JB HiFi Online chat *****
(The previous parts of this are posted earlier)

Anyway, they said they would send through a request to the Wollongong Store and a manager would email me.

I awoke from nightshift and was happy to receive an email saying that a Manager had organised a gift Card for me. I walked in, requested a manager and the $350 Giftcard was happily handed over to me

    Very happy.

    • Was it given by the same manager? I wonder if he will just just give it to everyone who sign up now

      • Different person that obviously didn't talk to the girl who is the manager of the phone section.

    • Woah awesome! Do you by any chance have the comment which linked the receipt showing the gift card?

    • What wording did you do cos jb online straight say if you bought in store, they won't help or can't help and will refer you back to the store as I've tried multiple times.

  • If you're in Victoria, they're pretty much out of stock for the 256GB variant and new stock won't come in until Christmas. I've tried searching everywhere and unable to get one anymore. They can't sign you up either cos they need an IMEI number so had to go with the 128GB instead :(

    • Yeah snooze you lose, better to jump on these deals the first day or so (and would have probably got the GC too).

  • If the website is saying no stock within 200km, am I shit out of luck in getting this deal (with or without the $350 GC)?

    • Website stock hasnt been right since launch, as been in crazy high demand. Call up local stores and try your luck - I got lucky with the last 256GB on Thursday due to someone cancelling their order

    • Chat online with them and they will find you a phone and can reserve it for you. Nb. Request a deal price as well.
Screenshot the shopping cart they create for you and also the link. Nb. The cart will expire in 24 hours.

      • thy doesn't work with this. this is for in store deal only. what u mention is outright price only. and BTW no stock till dec

        • Well I did it this way, chatted online and they found out where the stock was, I went in store and got the phone. This was on Saturday.

If they have since sold out everywhere, then that is bad for anyone after this deal.

        • yeah no stock until 24th of Dec

      • As soon. As you mention mobile phone to online chat you get told 12 different ways why they can't help you… 15min and h3 never even looked at my account

        • Telstra chat, don't bother with JB mobile.
No doubt they are becoming wise about these cancellations but just have to keep opening a new chat until you get your result.

    • +1

My local store ordered from another store 200km away - it will be express couriered to my home and they refunded the delivery fee. Accessories from the same in store purchase are on the same receipt.

  • Am currently with Telstra. If I port out to a prepaid SIM with another provider on the day of signing up, then port in on the deal, will that work? Or do I need to have ported out for X days?

    • +2

Just ask for new number and cancel afterwards.

      • Ah, I actually want the plan. My employer reimburses me the cost.

        • So keep the plan. Don't know if the shop can transfer telstra to telstra, just ask them when you go in (seems like stock gone anyway for 256GB) and today deal over tmrw?

Easier though if you port to another network (keep number), usually fairly instant then go in.

          • @G-rig: Thanks!

I should have clarified in my original question - I'd heard some time back that Telstra typically requires customers to have ported out (of Telstra) for at least one billing cycle to be considered for port-in deals. Sounds like I can actually do it all in on day (today) though, based on your message?

            • +1

@theanatoki: Not sure about the billing cycle thing, I'd just port out anyway there's not much they can do, then sort the new plan. The previous bill can be addressed when it comes in. others may be able to advise better.

  • Does JB Hi-fi mobile plan has esim ?

    • Dunno, they gave me a physical sim when I signed up. eSim wasn't mentioned

    • They do. Initially they give a card then you can change to esim

  • Hmm no idea why I didn't see this deal until now. I presume the likelihood of being able to get one today with GC will be very low?

  • I ordered the 256GB Rose Quartz, but it wasn't available in the store so will be shipped in a week or two. Should I cancel the plan immediately for the $765 charge plus a $99 refund, or should I wait until the phone is delivered?

    P.S. didn't get the $350 GC

    • How was this possible? I went to the JB store who tried to sign me up for the 256gb as they didn't have it in stock but the guy saw on the system that two would be arriving in the coming weeks. He attempted to process it and reached the end part where it asked for an IMEI, which he couldn't provide as he didn't have the IMEI for those devices yet….so I was unable to get the 256GB so just went with the 128GB instead…sadddd

      • He checked the stock for Rose Quartz, found it available at a distant store, and contacted their representative to arrange shipping to the local store. He obtained the IMEI from the representative and used it to create the invoice.

      • Yeah deal over.

  • Seems sold out

    • +1

called up a couple of JB Hifi branches and was able to get a hold of one. In particular, Pakenham Lifestyle centre in VIC has a couple of stocks left

  • Oops! We can't find the page you're looking for.

    • +1

Interesting… 256 and 512 variants are no longer available on JB sites

  • Went to JB Hi-fi Cannington WA and was told $350 Gift card cannot be stacked with $1700 discount

    • +1

Bit late to the party, deal ends today.
It can if you are lucky.

  • +1

I’m unable to get a refund of $99. Can anyone explain the process? Should I cancel the plan first and then request a refund for the $99 after paying $766? I’ve tried reaching out to Telstra and JB HiFi agents, but without success.

  • +1

I was literally driving to JBhifi last night to get this deal - I got stuck in traffic, thought "I'll only arrive 5 minutes before closing time, might not be enough to do the paperwork, the staff might not be so generous around the gift card, so I'll try tomorrow."
Now I see the deal went out of stock over night. Damn!
Hopefully there will be a decent deal on Black Friday.

    • Ha 5 min.. takes ages at least 30-40 min.
Had since the 24th but should be other deals eventually.

      • Jeez 40 minutes. Thanks that's helpful to know, I'll factor that in next time.

  • +3

Got this deal in-store for Pixel pro 256gb Hazel on 2/11/24 but no luck with 350$ GC. They didn't have stocks but I still decided to go ahead, signed up and wait for stocks. Today I got the call to come and pickup the phone. It turned out to be a mistake and they only had 256gb Pixel pro XL Hazel not the pro. They offered the same deal for the XL plus 230$ off if I sign up to their care plan (which was free for the first month and free to cancel). So came home with XL instead happy days ;)
    Effective price for Pixel pro 9 XL Hazel (1997$ - 1700$ - 230$ + 99$ + 767 = 933$)

  • Successfully exchanged for the 256GB version from 128gb today. I'm wondering if it's still possible to get a refund after the exchange? Of course, I'm happy with the current one, but if there's an opportunity, I wouldn't mind upgrading to the 16 promax

    • Hard to make up ya mind isn't it.

      • there aren't many options since JB Hi-Fi has closed the loophole for refunds on contract phones. However, I saw some comments saying that after an exchange, a new order is generated, which could potentially allow for a successful refund. I'm just not sure if that's actually true

        • Maybe sell it then if you never actually wanted the phone.

          • @G-rig: Nah, I really do want one, I'm just being greedy😞

  • Ordered a 256GB version as it was the only one available before the deal finished. Haven't picked it up yet. Any way to still exchange it for a 512GB one?

  • +1

For anyone who needs (and sees) this, the outcome of following through with this was as follows: I was told by two people in store that I qualified for the $350 gift card when getting the phone. I picked up the phone a few days later (due to stock transfer). A manager told me that I was not supposed to get the gift card due to "fine print" and showed me a different deal as he couldn't find this one. They ended up giving me the gift card since I was told by 2 staff and he frankly seemed unsure on the original deal. I cancelled and got the mobile plan refunded (I opted to get an esim that I didn't activate).

For the phone and a $350 gift card
Paid $147 in discounted gift cards
Paid and refunded $99 for mobile plan
Yet to pay $766.59 (instead of $800 cancellation fee)
    Total paid: $147 + $766.59 = $898.89 (- $350)

    • +1

For cancelling and refunding the plan, I mentioned that I never activated it and I got it for someone who does not require it via Telstra chat.

      • -1

Ok, so you don't have to go to jb for cancelling? Telstea chat would be sufficient? How did you pay the remaining? Did they send you an invoice?
