      This is per the Ts&Cs

Limit of 1 device per connection, up to a maximum of 3 connections per customer.

  • +1

Facebook ad also mentions the $350 GC
    https://ibb.co/k90sSGM

  • So where do we do cancellation, after doing the contract in the shop?

    • Telstra live chat i think

    • +1

Or just port out. Don't need to wait to speak to anyone

  • +3

    Just got mine.

    $147 + $99 + $766.59 + $350giftcard
Also got testra live chat to refund the $99.

    • Telstra live chat refused to give back $99. Only told me to wait for $766.59 bill

      • +2

        ymmv on the $99 refund.
I said: "yes I would like to cancel the payment and pay the voucher repayment fee
        "

Can someone share the exact process for the plan deal. Is it like this:

    1) Sign up for plan.
    2) Get a $1700 GC on the spot
    3) Go to counter and purchase a Pixel 9 Pro 256GB outright using the GC from step 2 and pay in the extra $147?
    4) Ask for $350 since I effectively purchased outright using GC and cash?

    Thanks

    • That's what I did but I waited > 1 hour for step (1) due to super slow Telstra sign up system

      • I'm confused by this because isnt it $1700 off, not $1700 gift card. There is currently a separate deal for $1200 gift card, is this what you are referring to?

        • The $1,700 gift card is specific for the Pixel 9 Pros. The $1,200 gift card is for other phones.

    • yes, use a new number if you plan to pay the voucher fee

    • How'd you sign up for the plan?
      in-store or online?

      • This deal is in-store only because you need to do ID check etc to sign up to the plans

        • I thought so too. but @victrix said in step 1 to sign up for the plan. And get the $1700 gift card.
So I am confused if it's $1700 off or $1700 GC

          • +1

@ansh4friends: $1700 off in form of gc (the cashier will do it when you make the outright payment)

  • I'm curious to know if anyone can guide me to the best course of action using this on the plan it comes with vs paying the cancellation if;
    - Me and my partner both want a 256gb Pixel Pro 9 (so likely I could use the gift card from mine to cover some of hers)
-My partner isn't fussy what network and she only needs like 30gb. I need to be on the full testra network but don't need this full 300gb/month. Maybe 60gb ish per month.

Do people that want the testra network find the $99/month is bad value and it's better to cancel and find a better sim-only plan? The only way i would use the 300gb / month be if there is a way to add a second sim without it costing a fortune to a be able to use a portable 5g modem, but i'm unclear on if this can be done on the JB plans.

Got one but no $350 gc, shop said its not valid on promo

    • Which JBHIFI?

    • +1

Also, telstra wont refund the $99 upfront. So, total cost is $766.59+$147+$99=$1012.59

      • +1

So previously I contacted chat support through JBHiFi Mobile on the same day and was denied refund.

Today, 26/10/2024, I checked that the $99 charge has been cleared on my CC account, so I went to contact Telstra chat support to ask for the refund again. I started the conversation like, "Hello, I would like to request a refund for the payment of the service number 04xxxx that I didn't use and cancelled on the same day. Can you assist with this please?" and the agent acknowledged there was no usage on the number (not even activated), and happily processed the refund within a few minutes and I received the refund receipt in my email as confirmation.

In total, the price for the phone (minus the $350 gift card and $99 refunded upfront payment) is $766.59 (contract cancellation fee) +$147 (phone outright price)=$913.59

sub $1k for a flagship 256GB is a good deal!

  • Can I buy and the swap with pixel 9 pro xl by paying the difference? Is that doable?

    • No. Deal for the XL was 2 months ago.

    • I was more thinking of refunding the 9pro all back to a gift card, then purchasing the 9xl?

  • Am I understanding this right…
If I get a plan with JB on a Pixel 9 Pro 512, and I cancel after 1 month. I won't be paying that much for the device payout?

    • Correct. You'll pay at most $899, plus (the handset cost minus $1700)

      • I've been living under a rock.

So where or when should I cancel after getting one? Won't they be charging back the voucher of 1.7k?

  • +1

Pick a 256gb this morning. Called and confirmed beforehand it came with the $350 gift card. Used it to pay for a discounted case.

    • @mandelbrot what discouted case did you get? share the link please

      • +2
        • Thanks mate looks good, will try and see if can get the same for $20

        • I just called the store where I picked my pixel 9 pro from to ask about the case. They said they can give the case at that price only if I can show the proof of price that you mentioned. Can you kindly share the receipt of purchase of the case :)

        • +1

Grabbed the same case from Sydney CBD store (Westfield @ Market St) for $20. Deal just got sweeter 😍

  • As a current telstra customer, if I sign up with a new number can I somehow keep my old number on the new plan? I'm doubting it's possible but can't hurt to ask

    • -1

Deal says its for porting in a number. Can't sign up for a new number.

Get $1700 off a Google Pixel 9 Pro 256GB or 512GB Phone◊ when you switch your number to JB HI-FI Mobile on a $99 Plan over 24 months#

      • I believe most have been able to though.

        • Then I guess go in store and give it a shot. No harm in trying.

      • I was able to do it earlier today on a new service/number

      • Unless I get a new number, cancel it and put my sim in the new phone?

  • +1

Thanks OP, just got the 256GB Hazel with $350 gift card. Onto cancelling the plan and getting $99 refund if possible.

    • Did you have to ask the phone salesperson or cashier for the $350 card?

      • I just asked casually that $350 GC is included in this deal and he nodded and I sushed myself :).

        • Care to share store 😊

        • Lucky! I did exactly that. They were clued in :(

    • Where and when did you cancel? Did you activate the sim or are you just moving your current number?

  • Looking to get two phones. Assuming I can get lucky with the $350 gift card, is there any per person limit to stop me getting two (one per phone)? I couldn't see one.

    • Shouldn't be a problem. Do one first, then use the gift card to pay for the $147 for the second phone.

      • What happens to the $203 remaining on the gift card, does that just stay on the gift card?

        • yes. you take it away to use for another day.

    • It says in the T&Cs its only 1 per person, they take your license and check your credit. So maybe get a friend to help?

      • Limit of 1 device per connection, up to a maximum of 3 connections per customer.

If you can pass a credit check, you can get three.

  • +1

Thanks OP, I just got the 256GB with a new number without any problems. The checkout person also gave me the $350 without me having to ask! Time to cancel the plan and try my luck at getting the $99 back.

Is everyone just getting black/obsidian? The website says none of the other colours are available even if I change the store.

    • Best to call the store and ask for stock. It wasn't displaying for me properly on the website.

    • yeah obsidian seems to be the favourite. Is sold out at many stores it seems

  • had success getting the 256gb, got the $350 gift card without even having to ask. The only issue was the store had no stock of Hazel, so I went with Obsidian.

    • which store?

      • I don't wanna snitch on the worker sorry

  • +1

    Got denied the $350 gc

  • PSA: I had issues with my Pixel 7's screen falling off and the warranty claims process has been dog shit. They keep supplying me the details for out-of-warranty repair, i.e. forcing me to pay for it.

They refuse to supply the in-warranty repair options. Caveat emptor.

  • I made the mistake of cancelling my JB/Telstra service from a recent gift card deal today before going in to take advantage of this deal.
Consequently the system declined my application.

    • So they don't let you use another Sim or you black listed? If you paid out the previous contract then that should be that.

      • Ah, I haven't paid the last contract out yet. Only just got the email notifying me they'll debit me In a few days (or I can pay early). Maybe I'll try paying out and then try again.

  • I got offered the gift card on the spot, didn't ask a single question about it.

  • +2

No luck at Merrylands or Westfield Parra for the $350 gift card. :(

  • Just came out of JB and the GC is not applicable in conjunction with Mobile plan offer :( Looks like it's been updated, condition now reads as below.

"This offer is not available in conjunction with any other JB Hi-Fi mobile or broadband offer or trade-in coupon offer or Google Pixel gift card offer"

    • +2

Not true. Just got the $350 and $1700 on the spot no questions asked, it was handed to me.

      • I have called up a different store and they confirmed over the phone that they could do it and waiting to know.. Will keep posted.

BTW , the store denied was North Lakes , Brisbane

        • +1

Got the deal in another store $350 GC + $1700 Mobile plan. For 512 gig

        • Damn, i was gonna go to North Lakes in the morning to grab 2 lol

          • @hsingh1186: Try Carseldine @hsingh1186

            • @chandru888: Do they do it in Carseldine, $350 +$1700?

            • @chandru888: @chandru888 thank you, i called North Lakes and Morayfield this morning who said no but Carseldine was happy to do it.

They did not let me use a 2nd gift card to offset the cost of the 1st though. They put both through in the same transaction.

              • @hsingh1186: Great !! @hsingh1186 Enjoy :)

@Rebu Just call them to say you are driving from far off and wanted to confirm the deal - then you can tell the store person , you got the confirmation of the deal GC + sim offer (in case they dont play well on the store). Good luck!

  • Anyone know how the $766 will be paid? I tried to ask but the live chat disconnected. It seems like they cancelled my service anyway though.

    • +3

Telstra will invoice you, you just go to payments tab and it should be there for you to pay. I just paid mine!

      • Thanks! Found it and paid!

      • Thought you were goin to keep the plan active for couple weeks :)

Got mine from JB-Hifi Chatswood.. Sweet deal

Q - Did they disconnect the plan as soon as you canceled? Or do they allow to keep it on until end of current month because you've paid 99 for it?

        • Did you get the gc in Chatswood?

          • +1

@jazzza: Yes!! But can't use it in the same purchase to avoid the extra 147 payment

        • +1

Unfortunately they instantly cancel the plan so rip $99 but there's a small chance the $99 might be refunded too as purchase is pending in my bank account

          • @Jasbones: Telstra was happy to refund my $99 as well .. Hope its luck based. @Jasbones

  • JB employee just told me that I'd have to pay the Voucher Repayment Fee to Telstra $1700 and not just the $800 fee. Can anyone confirm what the actual charges will be?
    T&C's are still unclear

      • Yes haha
        What did they tell you?

        • +2

I was listening just before, should have spoken with the girl. Go back, you'll get it
          $800 Max cancellation

    • +2

Wrong. Look at the CIS, max repayment $800.
They always try that on, just ignore it.

    • +1

Never ask them then if I will cancel. They know that some people cancel the service to same more. Always read the terms and you will get everything what you need to know.

    • Did you try to cancel?

      • +1

Cancelled the plan with JB Hi Fi today and got the final Tax Invoice for $766.59.
Then talked to Telstra and they said they'll refund the $99 once it's processed, it was still pending so they couldn't refund it yet but told me to check in a few days.
