  • Anyone in Melbourne able to pick up a 256GB in Hazel? Website is showing out of stock statewide

    • that's just what the website says, there was stock in store but varying levels of different colours, none of my specific one and I had to go pick up my preferred at the next closest store. You'll just have to go in store and ask directly, and when you order they will call the store that has the stock for you to pick it up (bring completed receipt, and photo ID)

    • I got one from Pakenham

  • Seems it was a good thing I got it earlier today. Got the $350 gift card with the signup deal.

  • No gift card offered at JB Ipswich.

  • I have pixel 8a which is very inefficient in battery and constantly gets HOT especially if mounted on car windscreen.

It is a $75 phone in my books.

Is 9 pro or 9 XL any better with respect to battery?

  • Looks like stores are having their own discretion on $350 gc. Just came from Merrylands and Parramatta and they denied $350 gc with $1700 gc offer. They said conditions got changed today noon. Looked like missed the party :(

For those of us (including myself) who didn't get the gift card but went ahead with the deal anyway, could we:

    1. Get a gift card refund for our purchase of the P9Pro 256GB ($1847 as a JB GC).
    2. Purchase outright in a new transaction (or even online) where we don't also sign up to a Telstra phone plan.
    3. Get the $350 Gift Card as their T+Cs don't mention anything excluding purchases using gift cards.

I guess the risk is the phone selling out and not getting back in stock before the GC offer ends (6th Nov).

Got this deal with $350 in Epping, Victoria. The person knew about the deal posted on OzBargain and straight away said I'd get a $1700 gift card towards the mobile payment and $350 after the purchase.

    Here’s the breakdown:

    • Pixel 9 Pro: $1847 - $1700 gift card = $147
    • Mobile plan: $99
    • Additional costs: $800 - $350 gift card

    Total cost: $147 + $99 + $800 - $350 = $696

Now, I’m planning to claim TRS on it.

    • I'm flying overseas on the 26th Dec, annoyingly have to wait till Sunday to buy so that it's within 60 days to claim TRS!

    • Wait $800-$350 so you can pay the voucher repayment fee with the gift card?

      • +1

OFC you can't, people are just counting that as money saved in terms of the deal.
You got to pay out the contract to Telstra.

  • I'm looking at getting one for myself and one for my wife. If i am lucky to get the $350 gift cards with the deal, would i be able to use the 1st gift card to pay for the 2nd phone?

Buy 256gb, get gift card, then buy 512gb, use it to pay the $347 difference?

  • Just got mine, how does one go about cancelling the $99p/m plan. Do I contact Hi-Fi mobile or Telstra. Any suggestions to see if I could get the first months 99 back as well?

    • +1

Login to your Telstra and access live chat from there. Explain that you want to cancel your service (they'll ask for a reason) and once they're processing that just request for the $99 refund because you didn't use the plan at all.

      • I’m speaking to the person now, I’m unable to get the $99 refunded. I just have to pay the early termination fee of $766.59

        • +4

All in all pixel 9 pro 256gb hazel was $766.59 for the cancel fee + $147 +$99 for first month = $1012.59. Minus the $350 gift card and $662.59. Still an absolute steal of a deal for the 256gb hazel.

          • +2

@Bonesaw321: There still may be a possibility of getting that $99 refunded. I’ve been dealing with the jbhifi mobile app to deal with the refund but they weren’t as reluctant to refund the $99. Instead jump on Telstra directly and live chat they said once that once $99 payment has fully cleared (still shows pending on my bank). You can submit a refund request with Telstra directly, screenshotted her chat and I’m going to use that to get my $99.

            • +1

@Bonesaw321: Yes Telstra are more likely to refund, but you could also get lucky with another JB Mobile rep. Tell them you didn't activate or use the service at all, and you cancelled it on the same day - it's reasonable for you to get the full refund.

And congrats on getting the $350 gift card! Some of us weren't so lucky - now to work out TRS…

        • +2

I messaged telstra via the chat and asked them for $99 refund as I didn't use it even for 24 hours and they were happy to refund $99 and only left with invoice of 766.59 for early termination.. May be depends on the Telstra agent and mood.

          So total cost 766.59 + 347 (for 512GB) - 350 (GC) = $763.59
If I get lucky with TRS then 763.59-191.55 = $572.04 Pretty sweet for a brand new 9 pro 512 gigs..

Got one with the $350 gc from Craigieburn Vic as well.

  • Any luck with the $350 gift card at Melbourne Central or Bourke Street?

    • Bourke St will do it. I spoke to two staff members and they both said it stacks.

      • When did you check? Yesterday I asked this short girl and she said no :(

  • +1

Got one WITH the $350 GC yesterday from Whitford, WA, for other Perth people who are interested!

  • Can anyone confirm what the tax receipt shows? I am hoping to salary package it.

    • +1

      Subtotal $RRP
      Voucher values shown below
Balance is however you've paid the remainder.

Not sure if it matter for tax but let us know, as long as it's a tax invoice should be fine? Salary sacrifice you'd have to have the whole amount deducted in one pay I believe.

  • Can confirm I got the $350 card from Blacktown store. The sales person pretended to forget at the check out but I firmly reminded and was handed over the GC without any fuss.

    • Did you ask for the $350 before you sign up?

      • Yes, I casually asked if the $350 voucher goes along with the plan, the person responded affirmatively.

        • Did you get it this morning? I might drop a "Someone I know got it just this morning" if they refuse :)

    • Blacktown got denied, you got lucky there. The salesperson showed me his group chat, apparently the manager already warned everyone not to giveout $350 GC.

      Also got denied at Penrith.

  • What does everyone do for a plan after cancelling?

    • +2

Well what are you using now?
Boost 365 Sim does me well for cheap.

    • I'm still on my Kogan yearly plan, got it for 50% off, works out to be $11 a month for 20GB.

I didnt even have to use the JB SIM card, it worked straight away with the Kogan one.

  • -2

Did not receive the $350 GC and unable to refund the $99 first month… Please kindly advise what can I do now to get both?

    • Should ask for $350 at the time.
Jump on Telstra chat and try again for first month refund, may take a few attempts. Don't use the Sim at all.

      • Did ask for the $350 at the time, but the both sales rep (from the mobile section and front desk) mentioned it wasn't part of the deal :(

Called the JB Mobile, the CS said they can do it over the phone, it has to be in-store!

        • Dunno last time jumped on the Telstra site chat.

Looks like you could just return everything and start again ha, or not worry about it, still a great deal.

          • @G-rig: Will try going into JB store for the $99 refund, and call Telstra again. Thanks

            • +1

@MID: and say they forgot to give you the 350$ GC, and everyone else you know getting it as you want to buy some ear buds.

    • +5

From last experience after being denied a few times: don't go to JB nor JB chat.
Payment needs to be settled, they can't refund pending.
I waited 1 week, contacted Telstra chat. If they decline close chat immediately. No point in arguing.
Open chat again later and try again.
Mine took 2 attempts via Telstra app, my partner only 1 attempt after payment was settled.
I asked refund when I cancelled the plan and was told too wait until payment is settled.

      • How long do they give you to pay the cancellation costs? Is it due immediately or do you get some time before its due?

  • -5

I got pixel 9 pro today and they said $350 gift card and $1700 off don't go in conjunction, it's this or that. Has anyone got both?

    • +7

Does anyone bother to read threw this thread, it's 4 pages long maybe, just maybe you could find the answer many times over if you looked before posting

    • Same here apparently had to drop last

  • seems like no 512g version in stock in WA

    • Call them, the store I went to only had 1 particular device in stock. When I was there all of them were in stock (but not visible on the website).

  • +4

I managed to get 1 this morning. The store said its very clear no GC and he just cant issue it. But he said he can still do a deal for me, which is waive the remaining upfront fee. So basically no $350 GC but get extra $147 discount. I then said what if I take the 512GB, can you waive that upfront fee, and he said not on a new number, but if I port in he will do the deal. So went with port in and no upfront for the 512gb. Perhaps ask your local store for similar deal if interested.

  • why 512g is only in black?

  • +1

Didn't manage to get the gift card, didn't ask but they brought it up and asked if I came from Oz bargain 😂

    • Guess ozbargain is official in their daily memo now lol, the store I went to they were very bitchy fulluy aware of it lol

  • Gift card agreed/offered at Browns Plains store when signing up for the plan, however had to pick up 256gb phone stock from Springfield store (who initially weren't aware of the gift card offer) but did eventually agree to issue it when picking up the phone.

  • I have totally zero luck for the GC 😂 tried 2 stores yesterday, all refused. Tried another store last night, they said they provide the GC on top, so yeah of course go ahead. Everything smooth until final page to make a payment, system had some problem so the staff told me to try again today. Just went instore today and didn't see yesterday staff so spoke to another one, and he refused it. 😂

    • Which JB did you try on the GC?

      • Few stores western suburbs, Melbourne

        • Which one in western suburbs please? i will try my luck tonight. Hopper Crossing, Burmside, Maribyrnong, Altona, Highpoint? :)

          • @golddragon: I don't think you gonna have any luck anymore. I rang another few stores and they all refused it.

          • +2

@golddragon: Found a store that still give me the GC. Try asap if you can 😅 AP West. I just grabbed one. In and out in 25 minutes.

            • @jasonnguyenaus: Thanks. Do you have to ask?

              • @golddragon: I did. I rang up the store and asked first. Then the girl said yes, I asked for her name to make sure when I head to the store I will talk to the right person. Everything was smooth

                • @jasonnguyenaus: I went to ap west. Now sold out. Congrats if you all snagged it

                  • @RQNinja: Wow lucky me then. I did rang a few stores around and all refuses except here.
Just cancel the service and managed to asked for the $99 refunded after 2 tried. Still need to way for the payment to clear first for it to be refunded.

          • @golddragon: Check stock levels. More of them sold out

    • Holy crap that sounds like exactly what just happened to me… I'll report back tomorrow what happens re the gift card…

  • +1

Don't waste your time at Sydney CBD ones been refused. Seems party is over.

      • +6

Bloke acts surprised when store refuses change of mind refund on a piss-taking purchase.

        • Unreal isn't it, hardly an honest purchase
          Some people are pretty entitled.

  • No $350 GC at Gepps Cross, SA.

How long did it take for the new mobile service to show up on My Telstra account? It's been 2hrs already and still nothing. Do I need the service to show up on the account before going on Telstra live chat to cancel?

    • +1

      Follow up:
Now on Telstra live chat to initiate the cancellation even though the service hasn't shown up on My Telstra account.

The $99 will also be refunded within 10 business days.

      • The service only shows on the JB Mobile.

        • Thank you. That explains it.

  • +2

Cancelled the plan with JB Hi Fi today and got the final Tax Invoice for $766.59.

I asked a couple of times to waive the $99 fee as well since I never activated the SIM card but no luck. Might ask Telstra chat but happy to pay it in the end, still a great deal on the phone.

    • Telstra said they'll be able to refund the $99 in a few days once the payment has gone through since it's currently sitting as pending.

      • +3

yup Telstra was happy to refund $99.

        • What reason did you give?

  • +3

Got it with $350 gift card. The mobile sales guy told me no $350 gift card but the guy at the checkout brought it up himself and gave it to me. Seems the message hasn't reached everyone yet, get in before they figure it all out.

  • Rang plenty valley Vic. They are on to it and wouldn't bundle the 350 gift card

  • Got the phone deal + $350 gift card no issues. If managed to get $99 back it will come down to sub-400 :)

    STRESSFUL!!

    • Which store?

      • Brown Plain in qld

        • I mentioned "no issues* and added "Stressful* at the end of my comment because the sale guy was very happy to discuss the deal and he even said $350 gc without me requesting it. So, it was all smooth until I went to cashier.

The cashier did some routine and handed me the phone with receipt and a big smile. Then, I had to explain that a gc of $350 should be there too based on colleagues explanation. Then 4 cashier guys were staring at me at the same time and it took them a couple of minutes to finalise it and it was stressful as they seemed that they not liked doing it.

          • @Rebu: Just say you want to return it straight away and see if they'd prefer that more, and you were lead to believe you were supposed to get it (like most people have).

Sounds like that store is a go.

Sub $400? May be worth me trading the P8 and it would cost me nothing then. Or just trade next year.

  • Anyone in Perth able to get the $350 gc? If so which store?

  • Where it is written, bonus for $350 GC, so that we can show them in the stores.

    • In the store there are ads on the phones area

    • Facebook ads also mentions it too:
      https://ibb.co/k90sSGM

  • Anyone with experience with TRS mind describing what the expected process looks like please?

    • Download the app, provide information of your purchase (must exceed $300) and it generates a QR code.

When you are the TRS Claims counter at the airport, show them the QR code, invoice and product.
