        You don't get $350 GC
Gift card offer is not stackable with Google BYO offers. BYO is Telstra where I get $1700 GC which you can pay the phone on the spot.
        You can't get both GC

        $1847 ($1700 off) = $147 + 99 + $767.66 = $1046

This is final. I confirmed with store and bought one

        • A lot of people have and there was some confusion. it was the case for the P9PXL and S24U
          (deal I got = 256gb price [RRP $2187] = $1999 - $1700 + $766 = $1065 and $300 gift card ($765).

Seems like they have removed it from the deal, fair enough since most people are cancelling the plan and/or returning the phone. YMMV

        • +3

I got the $350 gift card, they said everyone buying a pixel will get one regardless of deal.

        • I just went in to a store and try staff said that it stacks, even without me mentioning the word "stack". And they also checked the system which confirmed this

      • -1

        $1847 ($1700 off) = $147 + 99 + $800 - $350 = $696 and if you can get the $99 refunded its $597

These equations which show the "- $350" to factor in the gift card, is a bit misleading.

        The phone would cost $147 + 99 + $800 = $1046 cash out of your pocket.
That's the price of the phone, out of your own pocket.

All amounts are 'tangible money', whereas the $350 is a gift card, and not really money, because you are forced to get something from JB Hifi priced up to $350, and you are still $1046 out of pocket for a phone.

A lot of times, I don't really want anything from JB HiFi anyway, and I would have preferred the phone to just be $597 only.
I don't need to pay $1046 for a Pixel phone —AND— other JB-HiFi stuff.

Maybe, I can gift the $350 gift-card, to someone's wedding or as a present, which is something practical I would do with the gift card, haha

Then again, that $350 gift-card could come in handy, towards the purchase of a big screen TV.

        • +1

I think you can count it, you can use it instead of cash down the track. May not be tomorrow may not be next week but they don't expire. Or you can still sell them for a bit less. I'd rather it than not.

    • Please can I ask when you say $2050 worth of gift cards, does it mean you can return the device for gift cards?

What's the GST on your invoice? I was thinking to claim TRS later

      • Don't know what the relevance is with that. The max you'd get back is $1,847 (RRP)
They return same payment method so $147 out of pocket they ain't going to give you it in cash.

        • Sorry wasn't clear. Just so that I could use that $1700 gift card to buy something else.

          • @FatTofu: Probably good to have if your TV carks it or something.
Can't see myself using the vouchers for the next new phone again with these massive $1700 off type deals as there is basically no out of pocket.
Maybe try it an tell us.

    • +1

Would not it be just easier to get 256gb instead, right away?

      • +2

I did get the 256gb right away. You get the $1700 gift card applied to that. But can't use the $350 gift card to make up the $147 difference.

You only get the $350 gift card after the purchase of the phone.

        • Can you please confirm if the invoice state the full price of $1847?

          Thanks!

          • +3

@ddddddddddd: Yeh invoice has 1847. Split as 1700 of gift card and 147 EFTPOS.

    • Did you port in or were they happy to issue a new number to you?

      • Ported in. But I told the bloke what deal I wanted and he asked if I was porting or getting a new number.

    • +1

Did you have to ask for the $350 gift card or did the system give it to you automatically?

      • +1

I was going to ask but the employee mentioned it.

    • Did you get the $350 GC in store? I was told I won't be able to get the GC this morning.

      • +1

Gave it to me instore. I used some of it on an over priced case and screen protector so I could start using the phone straight away.

    • +1

Damn wish I saw this before going in. I wasn’t offered the $350 gift card on top. I’ll have to go back in.
Edit: Went back in and they gave me it straight away.

      • You are lucky
In Castle Hill they did not offer me.
They said you can't stack the GCs as I already took 1700 GC

        • I think you should try it again, because it is included with the sale

        • +2

I played polite and dumb. I called the store and said I just bought the Pixel 9 Pro and noticed the website says you’re meant to get a $350. They checked the purchase on their system and asked me to come back in to receive the gift card.

          https://imgur.com/a/U8mrmxo

          • @Cheshire090: Did you have to show them receipt?
Got the 256GB but didnt get the 350GC

            • +1

@JDn: I got them to confirm over the phone if I was eligible as it was bought outright. They said I was and apologised, I just had to bring my receipt into store and they had the gift card waiting for me.

      • Me too

    • +2

Was told gift card is not included. So likely luck of the draw with who serves you.

    • -1

Can you provide some kind of evidence for the $350 gift card? Not that I don't believe you, but so I can show it to the JB rep when I try to get it myself

    • +2

You got lucky with a naive JB employee giving you the $350 GC. JB T&Cs have been updated to explicitly say the $350GC and $1700 off deals are not stackable.

      • +2

hmm they must have updated it sometime this morning.
Pays to go in early before they know what's going on, but it was definitely offered as well as BYO on the S24U and P9XL plans.

Just go to a few different JBs and ask them if you get it first up.

        • Yes, so people who took the S24U and P9XL deals going around saying this is what you should get are giving outdated info.

          • @star-ggg: They must have edited the JB site after posting, I'm sure it was both first thing this morn (and people have been getting it). Anyway I deleted some posts 👌.

    • Which store did you go to? I think it was given by a naive employee, so if you could let us know which store some people might benefit from it as well.

      • Sounds like someone's gonna snitch 😑

        • Me? Why would i wanna snitch? Just see no one who says can get $350 gc or can refund says which stores they got it from.

    • Did you do a 128 to 256 switch here?

    • You may have just gotten lucky.

      Which store

    • Were you forced to port your exisiting number or could you just request a new one?

  • +4

Can someone explain to me why this deal has way less likes than the 128GB deal? It seems a lot better considering you get a 350$ gift card on top! Am I missing something?

    If this math is correct ($1847 ($1700 off) = $147 + 99 + $800 - $350 = $696 and if you can get the $99 refunded its $597) it's an amazing deal!

    • I was thinking the same thing.

    • +1

This was posted 5 hours later and also at night so many (including me) didnt see it till this morning.

Can you please explain why/how you would get the $99 refunded? Aren't you obligated to pay the first month?

      • +2

I think I saw on an earlier post that someone hit up Telstra chat asking for a waiver on the first month and they got lucky.

        • I was refused that $99

    • Someone said the $350 might be available for the 128GB deal as well in the other post. Can someone confirm?

    • Perhaps because Telstra is too slow to activate your account? So that you cannot just take the device and go?

I have been waiting for 1 hour already in store and they told me could be waiting till tonight…

    • +1

The short answer is that this deal is technically better especially if you want more than 128GB - just keep in mind the $350 gift card bonus is not guaranteed. The staff can point to their T&C's for this offer and negate your request for the additional $350.

      • +1

So the $350 is just pure luck on either deal?

        • It appears so. But a good deal either way.

  • If I get a new SIM today to avoid losing my current number, do I need to activate it before I get to the store?

    • +1

They just got me a new sim and a new number in store, I didn't have to bring a new one. I just said I wanted a new number!

  • Should we hold for XL deals?

  • Was kind of set on the 9 Pro 256GB but got sick of waiting so got the S24U (on the similar JB deal, $1999 - $1700 + $766 = $1065 and $300 gift card = $765)
The fingerprint and face unlock aren't that impressive on the samsung with screen protector, screen obviously better/bigger, not quite as flowing to use the OS.

Not really sure which is better pros and cons to both and still got a pixel 8 sitting around (can't really trade in with these deals).

Anyone know if normal screen protectors work on the Pixel 9 or they've curved the edges like the 8 (had to get a custom nanofilm thing put on).

    • I went for the s21 (not ultra, just base model) based on a deal and I regretted it badly, honestly.

      If you're a pixel person you're a pixel person.

The p9 has flat screen, not curved edges.

      • hmm yeah. I find some of the native pixels shortcuts/productivity much better for managing apps, screen shots selecting text etc.
Not a fan of the sharp edges on the S24 U and pretty big in pocket. The battery is good considering the size, obviously the screen is better (bigger for videos), loud speaker better, and snapdragon is better. Easy enough to install the Google apps and basically set it up the same, and ignore the S24 apps mostly. The ultra is a bit step up from the normal ones.

One handed operation with the small pixels is a breeze. May take some battery tweaks, I've found the smaller phone/screen still doesn't last ages from what you'd expect. The camera is 'easier' on the pixel, the S24U has more potential but need to know what you're doing.

Doesn't seem like many mag cases options for the P9, maybe it's too small.

Cheers, will have to think about it. I got a spare active sim but using boost 365 so won't bring that into the equation.

    • +1

i came from Samsung to pixel 8 pro. Pixel aint bad but Samsung definitely has the better quality. I just hate the samsung camera.

In the end, im gonna switch back to samsung next year

      • yeah I'll just keep the S24U at least till the P10 Pro since I already got the Samsung.
I agree, it's probably better quality overall, a few odd things if used to pixel. Can just install all the google apps anyway.

The camera is a bit harder to use, so many settings and the Camera Assistant app allows you to tinker/enable a bit more.
Still don't know if it results in better photos yet.

        • idk what it is with the Samsung camera but it just looks weird, my friends think i have a filter on but i dont.

Just an FYI, Samsung notes wont transfer to google. If you wanted to find an app now that's compatible with both to save you sorting them out later.

          • @treater: yeah there are a shitload of settings and tweaks. Plenty of online comparisons/reviews/recommendations.. just a bit of work going through it all. The Pixel camera isn't perfect by any stretch either. just different.

  • So you can get the $1700.discount AND the $350 gift card at the same time?

Actually, just looked in store and you can't

    • Yes you can. Just ask for it. A lot of guys received it and commented in the 128GB deal post.
I also received it when I got P9P XL on similar deal.

      • Oh ok. I'm just basing it on the t&C instore. I didn't get a chance to ask staff

They got it with the 128GB deal?

        • No. $350GC is only for 256GB and up

          • @OZBsince2018: $1700 is for 256GB and up
            People getting confused.

Why would you even get the 128GB if you don't even get either voucher.

      • +1

        Can confirm

  • +1

Went in to get the deal and was similarly told you can't stack the $350 gift card offer onto this deal. So I was okay to just get the regular deal. Now getting Telstra to cancel my new number so I can start chasing up the $99 refund.

    • You can't stack, but did they give $350 gift card, that you can spend on something else?

      • Sorry just to clarify - the problem is not stacking the $350 gift card on top of the remaining payment you have to make.

The problem is that this original deal is technically a $1700 gift card offer and they won't stack another gift card offer on top of it. There are terms and conditions specifically covering this ("This offer is not available in conjunction with any other JB-HiFi mobile or broadband offer or trade-in coupon offer or Google Pixel gift card offer.")

tldr: JB staff have the right to deny the $350 gift card because of terms and conditions.

        • Awh that sucks, somehow they let me get the $350 gift card too!

    • Did they let you start a new phone number, or did you have to port-in existing number?

      • +2

It was a new number, since I was going to cancel the plan anyway. Didn't want my regular number to be affected or disrupted.

        • Did you get the 128 or 256 model? I wonder if it's possible to get the 128 model to get the $1700 voucher for porting in, and then pay the difference between of $147 and then get the $350 in the second transaction

Theoretically, you're buying the 256 "outright" in the second transaction

Edit: this is assuming you didn't open the first 128 model phone

          • @ddddddddddd: Hypothetically could work to get 128GB first… but remember it's conditional on JB giving you $1700. Too risky for me but YMMV. I got the 256GB as an upgrade to my 6a.

            • +1

              @vSchweetz: Nah $1700 is for 256 and 512.

            • +1

@vSchweetz: Turns out that both the $1700 voucher for port in and $350 GC is eligible for all pixel 9 pro models.

I originally thought that the 350gc was for 256+

No point in returning and upgrading

        • @vSchweetz - can you please confirm the fee for cancelling the Telstra plan? or are you still on hold!

          • @RiceBurnr: Just cancelled and Telstra acknowledged the $99 I paid would be refunded in 5 days. Haven't got the invoice from Telstra yet but I expect it to be $800 as stated on their Critical Information Summary

            • @vSchweetz: Oh shit so you got the $99 refunded too? Damn I will have to try. What did you say to get the $99 refunded?

              • @Jasbones: Pretty efficient on Telstra chat - sign in and then open live chat. Explain that you want to cancel your service and once they process that just mention you'd like the first month payment of $99 to be refunded as you didn't use the service.

Update: $766.59 cancellation invoice instead of $800, nice!

            • @vSchweetz: Yeah did you call or go online chat to cancel? I got the phone and 350 GC too but haven't cancelled yet.

              • @papskies: I did telstra chat online, dont do JB Hi Fi Moblie lol they are angry.

If you want to keep number just sign up with a different mobile plan company first then contact telstra.
Also, telstra said that if the $99 is still pending in your bank, they have cancelled the $99 so it will be refunded/cancelled too but JB mobile said no so who knows.

Just means I cancelled today instead for the chance of $99 off

              • @papskies: Online chat is very simple, just sign into your Telstra account:

                1. Know what you want
                2. Tell them clearly but politely
                3. Thank them after they process it
                4. Ask for and save the case number of your online chat just in case
    • You should get the $350 GC, although it can’t be used in the same transaction.
Just ask for it. A lot of guys received it and commented in the 128GB deal post.
I also received it when I got P9P XL on similar deal.

      • +2

Yes but it is against the T&C so no guarantee.

        • -1

Need to know which stores will give the card

      • I love me a free $350 and I did ask for it - but they were firm in their Terms & Conditions so personally didn't push any further. But I appreciate you trying to help everyone get the best deal!

To make up the $147 difference I did use my gift card from this deal which helped.

        • Can you share which store?

  • why does the title say "256GB $147, 512GB $347" when they are clearly not the final prices?

    • +1

Because that is the actual price if you stick with the advertised $99/month 2 year plan (which noone here is doing obviously.

      • Oh lol. ok gotcha

  • -1

Are phones from these deals OEM-locked?

If I can't install GrapheneOS, I don't want to buy.

  • +8

Just got this deal in Brisbane.

The sales rep didn't mention anything about a gift card. But when I got to the cashier, towards the end of the transaction I casually asked "did I see something about getting a gift card too for getting a Pixel 9 pro? If so, I'll use that to buy the buds pro 2 as well"

The cashier took a quick glance at a piece of paper on the side of her desk and said "oh yeah! You're right" and just issued it right away.

    Seems I got lucky

    • Sounds like it's not really automatic?

      • Yeah, didn't look automatic

      • It's weird, I got a JB Hifi add on Instagram today "Get a bonus $350 JB Hi-Fi Gift Card when you buy a Google Pixel 9 Pro by 6/11/24.*"

*Offer valid 12:01am (AEDT) 24/10/2024 to 11:59pm (AEDT) 06/11/2024. JB HI-FI gift card emailed within 2 weeks of your online purchase being delivered or collected, or provided at time of purchase instore. Excludes commercial orders. Gift card subject to T&C.

So this means it's will be automatically emailed to you?
