FFs I had a response and lost it to a dodgy page refresh because I'm still using my old phone because the thought of the 9 makes me sick.
        1) $147 or whatever the additional cost is.
        2) I did cross my wires in it applying in different scenarios, and bad the beauty of my phone knowing what I wanted to hear so it fed it to me. I still believe that I have enough grounds to warrant involving CA, ever without the home run I thought I had.
Neg me, I honestly couldn't care less right now. An OzB neg really is the least of my problems, this one just pushed the remainder back because it's time critical.
Especially as it becomes more and more evident that people just don't care
Whether you do or not, it will be another 3rd party whose decision it will be. For JB to ever see a cent it will have to be a magistrate who issues a court ordered payment/deduction. At which point I will again have an option to pay, and an option to not pay. Those I will contemplate when it comes to it.

How to say a lot without saying anything

    • +1

I don't understand why you'd cancel after everything has been done. Were you still expecting the $350 GC to be given by some naive cashier? If you did this at HN there's no chance you'd be able to cancel the contract and return the phone as well, because their phone is just bundled with the Optus plan as a gift. With HN your invoice for the phone would be $0.

      • -7

I don't expect you, or anyone to understand why it occurred as such.. And no, I wasn't.
Just like I don't understand how you think it's fair to be charged $800 for 15min of indecision.
I know what the difference is between the lack of mutual understanding, but certainly don't nor will I ever understand it.

        • +5

Not sure if indecision is appropriate here. You made a decision to sign up to a contract and changed your mind, hence the cancellation fee.

I'm not experienced with these type of promotion but would this be a better deal than waiting for Black Friday? I'm eyeing the 512 and the -1700+800+99 is kinda tempting. Appreciate the insights.

    • Both this and HN deals run until 5th November. It's probable that something will come up, but there's no telling whether it'll be Pixel related. Based on how hard stock levels have been hit already, I'd say it's probably unlikely unless they prepared to get hit this hard. I must say, both stores were very empty Fri evening and Saturday morning. More staff than customers

  • Anyone had any luck today getting the gc in Sydney?

  • Struggling to find much 256gb stock.

Does anyone know… If I signed up to this deal today and reserved one from the next re-stock, and then cancelled the service today before actually receiving the phone - would that cause any problems?

    • I would not risk it…

    • Why cancel the service today instead of waiting until you get your phone?

    • Decided to hold off until they restock

  • +2

    Got the 256GB model.

Had to go to a different store since the first one was out of stock, and he said it'd be difficult to get one transferred since other nearby stores also only had 1 left and would be hesitant to give it up. Didn't bother pushing as it's 30mns before they closed anyway so I just went to a different store next day.

Paid for the phone, $147. I asked the cashier about a $350 gift card offer and she went "Oh right, yeah you get one as well". About halfway through issuing the card another cashier asked her if I got a plan with the phone, if so I wasn't supposed to get the GC. She somehow convinced him it was okay and I got the GC anyway lol. They seem to be on it now and more and more staff members are becoming aware, but still not everyone it seems.

Cancelled the plan at home using Telstra app live chat, fee was $766.59. Also asked for $99 refund, they said yes and will email me in 5 days once the payment clears.

    All together: $1847 - $1700 - 350 + 766.59 = 563.59 for a new P9P :)

    • Which store?

      • It was in Melbourne.

    • +1

I visited Bankstown and roseland. But no luck. They are happy to give discount $147 but no gift cards

  • Just tried to signup. Have they changed the terms and conditions? Wouldn't give me the $350

    • They changed them later on on launch day

      • About 5pm wa time on Thursday as I had trouble getting it at the till. They had to look on their system for updated memo.

        • Waited 30 mins to talk to someone. Wanted any colour other than pink. Only had pink. Said I'll just get pink then proceeded to call other stores for 20 minutes. Had to say it 3 times I'll just take the pink one.

Couldn't port out of boost, no gift card. I'll just get something for $300 and save my monies.

  • Thinking about this as a replacement for my Mi9T that's going to stop working tomorrow…

Since it says new number even though I'm currently with Telstra can I just get get a new sim/plan in store, not activate it and insert my old one after canceling the 99/month plan?

    • That's what I did, just get a new number and cancel it. I believe they already activate the sim card for you on the spot, but it shouldn't matter. You might get better luck for the refund of the initial $99 though if you argue you have never used the sim card at all.

      • Thanks! That's good to know.

  • Luck of the draw re getting a $99 refund from Telstra. Keep talking to em until you find someone that'll process it for you

    • How are you contacting them through Telstra without an active service? Just normal chat without logging in?

      • Registered for a Telstra id and logged in thru myTelstra app. Did not activate SIM. Customer service could see my service details (i.e $99 plan)

  • Salesperson reminded me to get the gift card from the counter when I pay then the cashier hit up someone and said not to issue one.

Bit frustrating that I was specifically told to grab it as did the other person getting same deal as me which he got, but I didn't ….

    • Did you tell the salesperson after that?

      • Unfortunately no, they had finished up for the day. Took me a while at the registers as there was a bit of a line

Worth contacting specific sales person tomorrow?

The guy that came and spoke to me seems like he was some manager or something so dunno if sales person can actually do anything

        • No harm trying so just push them tomorrow.

        • You should definitely try as it was confirmed to you prior to the sale.

  • First time doing this had a look through the Telstra app and JB app where does one cancel the plan or do I need to chat? Don't see any active services

    Thanks

    • Think it can take up to 24 hours to appear, and I think you need to chat too

    • I didn't see it in my account either, just jumped on Telstra chat and the person cancelled it for me.

      • +1

Yep you're right had to go through Telstra chat. Cheers

    Hey guys,

Have the 256GB P8P but very keen to get a smaller phone… Technically I could return this phone still for a refund, as having consistent reception issues (!!!), but can't really be bothered for that hassle… Would be a $1010 refund via gift card.

I noticed that P9P page on the JB website now offers a $400 additional bonus for trade ins ($930 total including $530 offered for P8P 256GB), can I assume that this would not stack with the $1700 discount?

And if that's correct, I would at least still get the $350 gift card too, right?

    Thanks so much :)

      Put it in noodles overnight.

      (Replied in the other thread).

  • I purchased my Pixel 9 Pro XL for $1600 last month and now have the opportunity to return it to the seller due to a fault. Should I return it and opt for the Pixel 9 Pro instead, considering the significantly better deal currently available at JB Hi-Fi? Any suggestions?

    • Yep

  • -1

Anyone successfully return the phone? What will be the maximum value we can get back as gift card?

    • Do it and let us know
      Reason for return..?

    • +1

I would advise against returning the phone when it attached to a gift card from the mobile deal. Better sell it on ebay or FB Marketplace for less hassle. My personal experience from the previous deal S24 Ultra is not pleasant. They looked at you like a fraudster regardless of you telling them it is a genuine change of mind return. I tried 6 stores in Melbourne. All said the phone cannot be returned because it attached to the mobile contract. You can try if you are willing to visit a lot of stores and have the unpleasant feelings. I heard some were successful getting the refund.

The stores I tried are (to save you some travel time :) ): Maribyrnong, Highpoint, Preston, South Wharf, Brunswick, Altona.

      • Wow thanks for sharing your experience. That was a lot of efforts to tried on 6 stores. So you gave up after that?

        • Just keep it, sounds like you didn't you need a free phone. Marketplace and 100s of low ballers and drainbows is still a lot of effort haha.

          • +2

@G-rig: It's not free. At minimum they cost $700 or so and easily a day of work (to get it, comment on it, and sell it). You would have had your credit also checked

      • Exactly, this was the experience I had in Sydney as well. Tried 5 different stores, and each of them know that you are trying to tricked the system. Better sell it in marketplace as most people will still be able to sell it for profit anyways.

  • +2

I signed up a couple of days ago, unfortunately did not do my due diligence of reading OzBargain comments regarding the $350 voucher. My wife signed up the following day after we scouted a store that honours the $350 GC promo and was successful. We also both managed to get the $99 refund from Telstra chat upon the first attempt. My tip would be to be polite and concise with what you want, make it as easy for the rep as possible.

  • To those who successfully ordered in a Pixel from another store that had stock, did they give you another tax invoice on pickup?

The tax invoice I received at the time of placing the stock transfer does not show GST for the phone (GST = $0), saying it's not taxable which is unusual. I'm wondering whether that's just a quirk in the system and an updated tax invoice with GST included will be issued when I go to pick up the phone.

    • +1

Same case for me last time JB had deal on ipad pro. They transferred it from another store. When picking up, remember asking the staff the reprint the Receipt showing the GST. I used this for TRS when flying overseas.

      • Thanks for replying, so I don't have anything to be worried about then? It's my first time ordering stock from another store and I couldn't see why it would affect the GST amount on the initial receipt (must be an internal policy thing).

Can you confirm that the first receipt had no GST, but when you went to pick up and asked for a receipt reprint, the GST magically appeared?

        • +1

Make sure it has your name on invoice as in passport to claim the GST at airport or won't give refund.

          • @WesthamAreMassive: do you need to bring the phone with the box and all to claim at the airport?

            • +2

@bl33su: Yeah, it's best to. They've often checked, especially when the value is this much.

    • Login to JB online and you should be able to download invoices.

      • Online digital invoice also strangely excludes GST..

        • +1

Strange. Just ask them for a proper invoice.
Trying to stop you returning it or forgot.

        • From previous online invoices, they do have the GST mentioned for me, it's right below the total

          Subtotal $xxx.xx
          Shipping $0.00
          Total amount paid $xxx.xx
          Includes $xx.xx GST

For me I did buy online, and went to that specific store for pickup

    • I ordered one last Friday and they organised the transfer from another store, the receipt didn't have GST probably because the order is not fulfilled yet.
I picked up the phone yesterday, can confirm they sent me a receipt including GST except they forgot to add my name to it, but they are able to write one up manually.

    Hey guys,

Just got the 256GB one from Leichhardt.

$350 Gift card not included. And I got their last phone as well.

Going to cancel the plan tomorrow, and try to get a $99 refund from Telstra tomorrow too.

    • -2

What was the price of the phone, on the invoice?
      Was it $147 or $1847?
or does it show all the other prices, eg. the 24-month phone plan, etc.?

      • +1

        Hey mate, on my invoice it says;

        $1847 Total Price
        -$1700 Gift Card
        -$147 Amex

        $167.91 GST

        Sorry for the delayed reply

        • Thanks for that.

So, technically, the TRS refund would be on that GST amount.

          I don't know why I got negged.

    • +1

Cancelled plan through JB-HiFi App, $766.59 / $69.69(hehe) GST (Voucher)

  • So, I popped into JB-HIFI yesterday, and the staff told me the $350 gift card bonus isn’t included with the Telstra offer. But heaps of you guys seem to be getting it! What’s the story here? The deal’s way better with that $350 gift card in the mix!

    • +1

When I went in store last week Thursday, I just said I was interested in P9Pro.
The staff told me there was a promotion with a $99 plan "And you get a $350 gift card on top if you sign up today." So I didn't ask and just went ahead with it.
Not sure what they would say now.
The store seemed to be keen to just get additional sales (at one point, while waiting, I overheard staff talking to each other saying "just give a discount, we need the money ..").

      • Hardly a deal if don't get $1700 off.

Just wait till next year and get the 10 Pro straight away, before the staff know what's going on. Too late now haha.

        • +1

I agree, just the $350 is not a deal.
Going for the $1700 off (even without $350) is a good deal though.
Of course, having $350 on top is a nice bonus, getting the $99 refunded is another cherry on top.

          • +1

@johnmelb: Yeah got the works for the S24U deal.
Just sold phone (P8) for $480 separately now, so very cheap upgrade.

      • overheard staff talking to each other saying "just give a discount, we need the money .."

        wow

  • Tried Blacktown and Rosehill. No luck with the 350$gc.

  • Yeah looks like the offer is patched, seems like every store is onto it, you cant stack it.

    • It's in the fineprint but a lot got away with it.

    • These are the Terms & Conditions (below).

So, I wonder how people are buying the phone, getting the discount (with/without gift card) and still managing the Telstra cancellation ?

The voucher repayment fee is only $800. So that's why people are paying the pro-rata of 23/24 x 800 = 766.5 to cancel the plan and leave with the phone.

        • Ah,…I see.
          Thanks for explaining.

          So, this makes sense now.

The bonus in this equation is the $350 gift card itself, and if we don't get that, then the 'discounts' are still decent enough, but needing to pay over the next 24 months!

          • +3

@whyisave: I don't recommend anyone pay off all 24 installments of $99 unless they really have a need for 300GB of data PER MONTH

Better to pull out for $800, the remaining $1600 will buy you Boost plans for the next 5-10 years

            • @dogsryummy:

I don't recommend anyone pay off all 24 installments of $99 unless they really have a need for 300GB of data PER MONTH

Yes, it's $99 per month for the 300GB monthly plan (over 2 years)
              or
$33.33 per month for the cancellation (over 2 years)

Boost 12-monthly plans are about $300 nowaday, but with cashbacks, it can come down to lower $200s (eg. $230?)

So, 2 years of Boost is 2 x $230 = $460 , which is still cheaper than the $99 monthly plans or the $800 cancellation voucher.

I might actually go looking for this Pixel 9 phone tomorrow then.

              • +1

@whyisave: Is Boost reception as good as Telstra? I think they use Telstra network but not sure about reception

                • +2

                  @Rebu: I've had Boost for 4? 5? years now.
Others in my family, are also enjoying Boost.

Boost, apparently, is Telstra direct (not Telstra wholesale) and since a year or so ago, Boost offers 5G in their prepaid plans, so it's a decent alternative.

The reception for Boost, in metro areas, has been alright for me, and sometimes in rural areas too.
                  I have no complaints.

  • +2

Got the 256gb today. Can confirm that it's possible to get it for $147 and also got the $350 gift card afterwards (couldn't be used on the 147 itself)

Cancelling fee was as expected through the JB support. I've not yet been able to get the 99$ from the plan refunded, will try in a couple days.

    Cheers All!

    • -1

      Got the 256gb today.

What were the price(s) on the final invoice?
Was it only $147 or did it show the full amount of the phone $1847 ?

      • +2

Showed the price as full $1847, then a payment of 1700 using giftcard and another 147 (from another giftcard I had)

    • Which store did you go to?

      • I picked it up at Rockingham, Perth

        • In QLD. Love ❤️ Rockingham wa!!

    • **Note I got the 99 refunded through Telstra web chat

    • how did you manage to get the gift card?

Anyone in Adelaide been lucky with $350 gift card? which store please?

    • +1

I got the GC from Mile End store.

      • Thank you! i got it from Marion mid day today.

  • Can you take up these offers more than once?

Already went through this last month's with a Galaxy, but the P9P would be my preference I think..

    • I did but he prepared to fight a bit harder if you're chasing the $99 refund

      • Hmm didn't get them the first time either unfortunately… Was still an insane deal.

    • -2

Yes. I have done it 6 times in total since August. Paid 6xETCs on time and got 6x$99 refund (you have to try multiple agents sometimes)

      • 6 times? How your credit score after that?

        • Nothing changed really. Had 2 enquiries from Telstra. My credit score is still excellent with Experian and Illion.

          • +1

@golddragon: Incredible Telstra keep giving you a contract. You would've expected a strike on the account after the second or third attempt.

  • +3

I signed up but wasn't able to secure the $350 gift card.

Fortunately/Unfortunately the sign up systems were slow and was offered the 256GB Pro for $1700 (effectively $0).

I cancelled with Telstra and managed to get $99 refund first go too. (I did have to come back to the Telstra chat after 2 days once my payment cleared to finalise the cancellation and refund).

Oh and the JB Clerk gave me discounts on a screen protector, case and wall charger ($169.89 RRP down to $82.70)

    TLDR:
Got 256GB Pro for $767.66 (No $350 Gift Card)
And ~$170 worth of accessories for nearly 50% off RRP.
