After a few requests I've negotiated a further price drop price on this tablet that's an excellent choice for those wanting something with a lot of power at a lower price. At 8.8" it's the perfect form factor for something more portable than the larger tablets, like the 12.7" Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro and the screen quality is excellent. While there is a newer 2025 version, the 2023 version has a microSD card slot.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 holds up well for gaming and it's close to the performance of the Dimensity 8300 in the flagship Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2025. Paired with 12GB or 16GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB storage it's great option for gaming. There's two full feature USB-C 3.2 10Gbps ports with support for video out that allows you to use USB-C headphones while charging. For reviews I recommend Retro Handhelds review and this review of the 2023 and 2025 versions compared.

Featuring Android 14 with ZUI 16, 8.8" 2560x1600 144Hz IPS display with 500nits brightness, Dolby Vision, HDR10 & 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, Widevine L1 DRM for Netflix HD, 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB UFS 3.1 storage (microSD card slot), Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 CPU, Adreno 730 GPU, 6550mAh battery with 45W PD charging, JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos, inbuilt mics, Dual USB-C 10Gbps (DP Alt Mode), 13MP + 2MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3.

  • Add Bundle: Flash Deal to the cart
  • Apply the coupons 5AUY700 and AUCD30 at checkout

GST inclusive and AU$ based on current Mastercard rate.

To enable Google Play, go to Settings > App Management > 3 dots top right > Google Basic Services > Turn on.
Then download Google Play from the Application Center or sideload an apk yourself. If the English characters and spacing look off you can change the font to fix the issue, as shown here.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

    @Toxinor @rssluca @Punkboy

Apologies for anyone I forgot to tag and were interested.

    • +1

      thanks clear

  • This is the tablet with the same display as the Legion Go, right?

    • +1

Yes it does. And it’s such a vivid screen it’s great.

  • +1

Thanks Clear. Just to confirm, this is CN Rom? It says English and Chinese language only, so i assume so.
With CN rom i can start using fresh put the box right? Just enable play store or something simple like that's?

    • +2

Correct it's the CN ROM and that's Chinese and English only. During setup select English and after setup follow my instructions in the post for Google Play. Essentially turn on Google Services in settings, then download Google Play from Lenovo's app market, or a mirror site like APKMirror or APKPure.

    • +4

Also best to stay on the CN rom for less troubles. Lenovo has enforced region locks on the ROMs now.

I never went off the CN rom and it has been fine, everything is in English bar a few apps which you will know what to press due to muscle memory.

One tip is to change the system font to the standard font, this gets rid of the space after an apostrophe that is the default Chinese/English font in the CN Rom.

      Best small Android Tablet.

      • Which font do you select? I have the Pad pro 2022 and I have had this issue. I feel like I've tried every font and still have the weird apostrophe issue. It's not a deal breaker, but it would be nice to have it fixed.

Could you perhaps send a screenshot of which one you have chosen?

        • Settings —> Personal customization —> Scroll to the bottom and select "Font" then select "T Mine" then "原生字体" the option on the right, translate to Native Font, but when you select it should say System Font.

Hope that helps all CN ROM users, that have that weird apostrophe issue. :D

If after you installed Google Play and installed non-Chinese apps you see that the some apps have characters in Chinese even after you set the language to English, based on my experience, updating to at least version 16.0.336 will solve most of this issue (except for the original Chinese apps that came with the tablet),

  • Unrelated but the 11" 2024 Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad seems to be on the way out, any news on an equivalent replacement soon?

And any chance of a last-min discount on the remaining 2024 ones Clear? :)

    • Lenovo China haven't released a replacement model for the 2024 Xiaoxin (non Pro) yet and they're still selling it locally. I'll see if there's any listings around without unlocked bootloaders and dodgy ROMs.

      • Thanks Clear! I think one of the very few CN rom sellers left for the non pro is the same seller in this listing (70mai-Goldway)

    • I think the 2025 version have much better CPU.

      • He's referring to the Xiaoxin Pad with a Snapdragon 685 - their base model.

I've negotiated a further price drop price on this tablet

Coupon codes should be Clear30, 50ClearAU etc. You deserve.

    • Surprisingly that would upset a few people around here.

  • +1

Please forgive the newbie question, what kind of "gaming" are people doing on this? Just things from Android store in general?

    • +3

Yes and emulation too. I.e. Gamecube, PS2 and Wii.

  • I'm looking at getting my 8yo son a tablet upgrade, they're currently using a 2019 Samsung A series and it's rubbish. I was just going to stump for an iPad, would this be a decent option? Price and specs look pretty damn good

    • +1

Get something with a bigger screen than this.

  • +1

apart from the obvious screen size why would you go for this over the lenovo xiaoxin pro?

the xiaoxin pro seems to have a better battery, a new build year and cheaper

    • +1

Size basically. 8.8" is easier to handle in bed than 12.7".

      • Thanks, I think i'd prefer the bigger screen vs my phone for flights etc

      • +5

That what I said to my girlfriend, but she's still unconvinced

        • +3

Ask her again when the 12.7” falls on her face. I’ll bet she would prefer the smaller one then.

          :D

  • Would this be good for taking notes and if so what stylus would you recommend?

    • +1

I bought one with the additional Lenovo pen bundle that works with this tablet and it works well, it has pressure sensitive sensor too. A bit expensive but heaps better than the passive stylus. It works similar to the Apple Pencil (but not sure if it is better or worse as I only played with the Apple Pencil at the Apple Store). The harder part is to find good note taking apps that are free non-subscriptions base.

      • +1

Do you have a link to the stylus you purchased?

        • In the same boat, the Lenovo pen feels smooth and responsive for general everyday use like note taking. Been also trialling different note taking apps, currently settled on Goodnotes even though it lacks some features compared to the iPad version. The stylus on Ali is the: Original Lenovo Xiaoxin Stylus 2023 for Legion Y700 2023

        • In the link above given by Clear, scroll down to the selection of the device (256GB or 512GB), and one or two lines above it has a few bundle selection. The one with the compatible pen is the rightmost button. This was what I chose from last price drop.

Not sure if this is included in this price drop. @Clear maybe able to help with your next question.

          • @OhWellThen: Is it similar to this pen?

            • +1

@CoreNex: Looks similar to mine. And it says that it is compatible with Y700 2023. Maybe check on the details and/or the review.
At this discounted price it is cheaper that when I bought mine.

Hey Clear I was actually watching this listing for the last few days. You should ask them about the price increase.

It was US$277 today. As low as US$273 around 6pm AEDT. Then US$293.. US$295.. US$296 before settling at US$287. Just wished they kept the cheaper price though for OzB. Their store coupon was also already live then. When I added it to cart at US$273 my total was US$268ish all in so pretty close to ATL.

  • these are the totals im getting after selecting "Flash deal"+AUCD30, what am i doing wrong?

    (Saved: US $30.00) Total:US $296.63
    (Saved: AU$8.16) Total:AU$522.50

    AUCD30 seems expired now

  • how does one justify spending >$450 and forgoing warranty from AliExpress.

  • So hard to get excited about tablets these days……

  • Thanks Clear, impulse purchased one lol.

Will still end up using the Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2022 mostly at home probably because of the larger OLED screen but the smaller tablet is much nicer for the few times I go traveling.

  • oh dam, i purchased the other one. can i cancel and purchase this instead. was only yesterday

    • +1

Depends, just login, go to your orders and check if you can still cancel. Usually you can if shipping process hasn't started. But if they are quick with starting shipping you can't.

  • +1

    Got one. Thanks!
