            • @timhn: nice.
although I still use bundll lately as I earn a small amount of velocity with it, on top of what the credit card gives.

              • @bohn: Have to wait for the card as well and have a few bills coming up. Would this offer work with Bundll? Just worried that I’m gonna spend heaps on the Bundll card and then Citi says it’s not eligible. Would I be able to pay fines using Bundll and then use the Citi card to pay it off?

  • Given the poor conversion rate for virgin points i was not planning to keep it after I get the 60k bonus - is there a reason others are holding onto it?

    • +2

No real point in keeping. Gap after u get points v

      • PayAll not worth it?

        • it's worth it but only because payall fee is waived until Oct this year.

          • +1

            @twistedbow: Oct 2023 isn't it?

            • @philldo: lol yes, next year. although some pages still say Oct 2022. I'm guessing Citi/NAB hasn't updated their website. Best to contact Citi chat and confirm.

  • I just ticked the maximum credit limit amount…
Applied.on Thur 22nd, just got the approval email today, to note, credit limit, $48,800
    Bit excessive, but ok

Can we stop the $2 pernmonth paper statements fee?

    • Can we stop the $2 pernmonth paper statements fee?

Don't sign up to them in the first place? I never got one when I had this card. You should be able to change your statement preferences in your account somewhere

    • Spending2Much do you have any other credit cards? That is quite the limit they allocated.

      • NAB Qantas Signature Visa.

Yeah, just ticked the maximum, rather than any specified amount.
        Bit extreme none the less

        • You can reduce the limit in the app

          • @timhn: Good to know. Once card arrives, can activate the app and reduce it from there.

        • The NAB one 15k?

        • NAB Qantas Signature Visa

That's good information for those wondering about being an existing NAB customer. I think someone asked specifically about NAB Qantas Signature too.

G-Wallet is now working for Citibank credit/debit cards.

    https://www1.citibank.com.au/help-and-support/card-activatio…

    • Where does it say on that? I can't find it.

      • Don't need evidence. Just add your card.

Source: been using my Citi Debit Mastercard on Google Wallet. Doesn't work for cards like Coles Mastercard, only Citi cards

  • Received my application approval email with credit limit and table of fees & charges etc. Have people been able to go from that email only to being able to transact on the card and load into Apple/Google Pay without waiting for anything to arrive in the mail?

      • Thanks - I saw this comment earlier but how did you actually access the digital card? If I try and set up my Citi login/online account I'm asked for a card number which obviously I don't have yet.

        • +1

I see. I have existing account with Citibank so when they approved my application, i can see the card in Citibank app. From there, just add to Wallet.

          • @timhn: Yep, that's the case. I received a few more emails from Citibank that made it clear that because this is my first product/I don't have an existing account I will have to wait for the card to arrive.

Just out of curiosity, what other Citi product do you have? I maintain a basic (fee free) transaction account with like $20 in it with about 4-5 banks that I regularly churn through so that I'm considered eligible for the existing customer discounts/offers. Wonder if I should add a Citi account too.

            • +1

@daanish: Citi Plus transaction account and the free-for-life Signature CC.

You should get the Plus account, so if you cancel the CC later, at least you can still access to your account/app. Also, it's not charge fx transaction and no charge ATM withdraw from overseas.

  • Denied immediately, I did have a paypal rewards card that was about to be converted to this card that I cancelled recently.

  • I really want this one but Citi (pre NAB) have rejected me three times. My worst record with any card issuer!

  • Approved within 5 mins of submitting application, that was fast.

    • Are you sure it is not conditionally approved?

  • applied tuesday 20th sept, approved today wednesday 28th sept, limit of 22,600

    • Are you really need that amount of credit? Should have apply for a higher tier card like the Premier instead.

      • i didnt specify an amount, thats what they gave me

        • +1

          Love the random $600 then.

  • Applied Monday arvo (it was quite a short application form), and uploaded 1 recent payslip. Approved by Wednesday morning, and just added the digital card from Citi app into Google Wallet. Already racking up the spend before card arrives. Would highly recommend this for a painless experience.

  • Can you pay utilities and rego bills using Bpay via credit card? And does this count towards the points ?

    • Yes. Depend.

Check the T&C if they count or not. Generally, payments to government will not.

      • I thought bpay payment is excluded from earning points

    • Yeah generally won't count towards points, however with this may be a different story with City PayAll.

    • +1
  • Month 3 and still waiting for points - made the spend in month 1.

Worst churn experience so far, even by Citi usually low standards.

Ironic as also have a Suncorp card atm, run by Citi, and they have given the bonus points inside the first month (thanks for the 25% bonus transfer Velocity!)

    • Did you talk to them to check? Do that via webchat so you'll have the log.

      • I was on the phone last month to some guy who, bless him, was utterly useless.

        I'll give chat a go.

        • +1

Chat telling me no bonus points as not a new customer. Which is true - did do a 100,000 bonus points. But interestingly that was over 12 months ago, and they seem to be counting it.

So Citi seem to have gone from a soft 6 month exclusion, to a permanent one?

Hard yikes, unless I am just very unlucky. Maybe NAB influence?

          • @Miso: Wait, was your previous card for Velocity bonus points?

They explicitly said this "Customers who have previously received or are entitled to receive the 60,000 Velocity Points will not be eligible to receive another 60,000 Velocity Points."

            • +2

@timhn: It was indeed a Velocity card. I tried to say that as I had the 100k velocity card then I was fine for this 60k one. No luck

              They pointed to this line;

"New Citi Rewards credit card customers only and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers.", first in the Things you should know section

Apparently due to that I was not a new Citi Rewards card holder in their opinion and so no bonus points. They also doubled down by saying I also had a Rewards card in 2019 (qantas) - this is also true.

I sent a Complaint mail with the chat logs asking for clarification. Will update here.

I still find it hard to believe there is a permanent exclusion if you've churned through Citi previously.

              • @Miso: Damn. Didn't notice about the "new Reward customers" clause. Like you, i had held several Rewards cards since 2019 - i think at least 3.

              • @Miso: wow. that's crap.

              • @Miso: Damn. Yep, had a CITI Qantas card before.

Best check that now, before spending any more on card.
Only activated it last night…already spent over 1k this morning

              • +2

@Miso: Had time to be on hold, so just called CITI.
Surprisingly fast once once I got through the lengthy extension list and confirmed my OTP.
The CSR from overseas call centre confirmed what I understood to be a 'Capping Code' (I think that's the word he used) which as he said, is a code linked to my account when I signed up and he checked the Capping Code is for 60k bonus points Velocity on 3k spend within 90 days.

I was confident after that, I'll get the bonus points once all spent….I think. Hopefully. Maybe

                • @Spending2Much: Nice - hope points come through for you.

Maybe we can assume then that Qantas and Velocity Rewards are seen as different cards, and 'new' customers.

No response to my complaint email or the general email I sent from inside my account.

I'm over not getting the points now, but need to know if Citi are out of the rotation moving forward as don't want to waste my time again.

              • +1

@Miso: Nice, just received email from Citibank saying my bonus V points is coming. The email was sent 2 days after my last transaction that went over the spending requirement.

Their T&C on "New Rewards credit card customers only" definitely for new applications, but not for those already owned a Rewards card in the past. My last Rewards card (Flybuy bonus points) was closed in June last year.

                • @timhn: my last transaction that took me over was on 4th October, not heard anything ;/

                  • @bohn: Maybe some of your spend had excluded spends like rates and utility bills?

                    • @kerfuffle: had a gas bill that I put through Beem but everything else should be okay.

                • @timhn: Very interesting - I'm going to chase them again - thanks for letting me know

                  • @Miso: Few emails back and forth but looks like they will be giving me the points. Not gonna count my chickens just yet, wait till points are in.

                    But looking good.

This is putting Citi and the bottom of the churn list though.

                    • +1

@Miso: Got my points. The lesson is that persistence pays off.

Still, will be wary of Citi moving forward

  • Got rejected in half a day…probably because I applied and got approved for nab & westpac cards in Aug & Sep, even though currently I only have one active card.
Well luckily I don't need loan in the near future, so just gonna wait a few months before applying for new card.
Too bad I have big spend coming up :(

  • +2

Just got a SMS that I am eligible for the bonus points.
Bit weird that it wasn't an email.. but whatever ;)

    • Was there a link in the msg for you to click and submit the Velocity number?

      • Yeah.

A quick rundown of my application timeline as a new customer to Citi:

    Friday 23/09 - Applied
Tuesday 27/09 - Called Citi to check my application status/give them a nudge. Received a text and email to confirm my application was approved about 10min after the call ended.

Over the next few days I received various emails with rates, fees and info on the benefits but nothing useful.

Wednesday 12/10 - Received a text outlining how to active my card ending in digits XXXX once it's received.

Thursday 13/10 - Finally received the card in metro Brisbane.

Even accounting for a few public holidays it definitely was not as quick to receive my card as some posters in this Citi deal or some of the other current Citi deals.

    • I wonder if it's worth calling, I haven't heard from them after 3 days and I was under the impression it would be approved / denied within 48hrs.

      • I had seen another comment where the user had their card approved straight after the call so I called to try and put myself at the top of the queue and it worked. I was hoping to make a substantial purchase with the card but the 2 week mail delay put that plan to rest. Ran it through a different card instead.

  • is there a 12 month no citibank reward card criteria for this card

    • no

  • anyone that has also got this card know how or where we input our velocity number for the points?

    • +3

They send you an email once you've made the qualifying spend and you provide your Velocity number then.

      • oh thanks!

      • I got a text and not an email. Ymmv

        • how long after the text or email did you get credited the points?

          • +1

@offthetap: Got the text yesterday so not just yet. The t&c's say within 10 weeks

          • +1

            @offthetap: 4 weeks for me.

    • +1

I got an email asking me to provide my velocity membership number. No sms.

  • Does this mean if you spend $10,000 on CitiPayAll transactions and $2000 on groceries, you will only receive the 10,000 points as it is capped at 10,000 points per statement?

  • Just got my first statement; was hoping the points would be added around the same time , but not yet.

    • You will get the email from Citibank asking for the Velocity number. Then wait within 10weeks for the points credit to your V account.

I've submitted my Velocity number 2 weeks ago and still no points yet.

      • yeah I already submitted mine.
within 10 weeks is just the standard crappy line they put out.
I'm just saying that after submitting my #, it didn't come with my first statement. They usually have it on a schedule. Perhaps it will come before the next statement then.

        • +1

my "transaction" for the bonus points appeared to be backdated. Not sure why that is the case, just interesting to note.

  • Will the points go automatically to my Velocity account? Or do I need to set up some sort of auto redemption to convert them?

    • See comments right above your.

  • +1

    Got my points today.

    • Yep my 60,000 came through today as well (but backdated to September).

Anyone get additional bonus points from this offer https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/728360 too?

Edit: Looks like not eligible for the bonus points if you have auto redemption turned on.

      • My bonus points are also in.

Anyone suggest what we can get from the ~3K points remain in Citibank?

    • Yep got mine as well.

      • How long did it take for your points to come in?

        • +1

I got the points about 2 weeks after submitted the Velocity number.

  • Got the SMS saying the spend has been met and asking for my velocity number. The name that generates through this website is not aligned with my velocity account though - anyone know how to fix this?

Citibank credit card name matches velocity account but they've used the "preferred name" from my citi profile. Trying to get the profile name updated but as you are aware the customer service is a nightmare.

Website says to contact velocity if the name is incorrect but the issue is actually at the citi end.

    • +1

I can't confirm if it will 100% work the same for you but I recently transferred some BOQ rewards points from my dad's account to his VFF account and his BOQ account has his short name but his VFF account has his full name (think Rod vs Rodney). Surname correct on both sides though and there was no issue bringing the points over. Even when you transfer VFF using family transfers it only asks for the surname and VFF number so I don't think the first/given name is that important.

      • Oh awesome good to know. Managed to update the name on the citi profile but the velocity points transfer website still had the old short name. Ended up just submitting it and hoping for the best. This gives me some confidence!

      • Points came through today woohoo!

        • So like two weeks from when you get the email?

I got the email today so hopefully soon.

ANZ were immediate within minutes for me.

  • What's everyone doing with the standard Rewards points, once received the bonus 60k Velocity points?

    • +1

I waited until I had enough for a $50 gift card, then redeemed and closed the account.

      • 10500 points…..

I'm on 2763. Not all my spend counted obviously, but still added to the $3000 spend/60k VFF.

Might just send it to flybuys for about $10 of FB points, or do the auto transfer to VFF

    • All my points came in before the 25% bonus transfer to VFF finished so I emptied the tank into that. Still deciding if I want to keep the card for the PayAll recycling or not. I only took out a 5k limit so max I can get is 24k VFF for a year. Not sure it's worth tying up the credit limit for that.
