    So $6?

Seems like it. Worse than Vanilla at WW

      • +10

At least you can buy these. Vanilla at ww is a myth

        • +1

According to the staff at 8:05am on Wednesday, these cards are popular and went quick.

          cough bull excrement cough

        • +1

My local WW has plenty from yesterday and today. Bought 8 variables already

        • Bought one this morning, plenty on the shelf

        • +1

I've bought 4 this week and plan to buy another 4 next week.

    • +1

The $13 discount is off the usual price including fee ($257)

  • +1

2.40% off + 244 flybuys pts per card purchase.

    • +5

I won't get out of bed for anything less than 5% off. :-P

    • +3

plus credit card points as well if applicable

      • +1

That's my main motivation. Small cash discount buys a coffee, but the points on an Amex Plat Edge are worth it, now that you can transfer for superior FF points (Avios, Virgin Atlantic).

    • you get flybuys points on gift cards????

      • +3

You earn 1x standard point per $1 at Coles when purchasing third-party gift cards in-store (e.g. Coles Mastercard gift cards, Apple gift cards, TCN gift cards, Ultimate gift cards).

You cannot earn any Flybuys points at Coles when purchasing gift cards issued by Coles Group in-store (e.g. Coles Group & Myer gift card, Officeworks gift card).

  • +1

    Yeah nah.
    Do better Coles.

  • +2

What happened to the 10 per cent off deals? I was hanging out for that.

  • +9

You risk $250 for being hacked for $6 in return? No, thanks.

    • +3

The deals will just get worse of people still purchase on smaller discounts too.

  • +7

Limit 5 Gift Cards per Flybuys account per day.

This is incorrect. Limit apply per account the whole promotion time, not per day.

    • Ok.

  • +1

seems they removed anything $10 off includes GC as Coles Financial Services Customer?
    tried at both counter & self-service, didn't see $10 off pop-up.

  • +4

Just used Vanilla mastercard to buy 2 of the Coles one without issue. Set pin first otherwise you’ll need to sign.

    • Thanks, confirming it works also, just bought 2 also.

    • +3

No need to setup pin. Just put any 4 digits and it will go through

  • went to a couple of local COLES, nothing left…

  • +1

Went to Coles at Parramatta Westfield. There's none on the gift voucher shelf but there was HEAPS behind the shelf. One of the shelf is a door which opens up. Staff served me when I asked for 5x $250. When it came to paying, staff said some BS that the cards won't activate after paying, so I can't buy it. What kind of BS is this? Coles at it again with misleading advertising?

    • +1

Saving for themselves after their shift perhaps.

    • +1

Same at my local (WA). They had them up there yesterday, and then today was all gone. So I took a peek behind the door and found the entire peg.

The guys who authorised my sale went to take a look at the shelf as I was walking out to check where I found these.

      • Same here the staff hid them all behind the shelf that opens up

    • +1

I bought 3 cards today in a single transaction. 2 cards with expiry of 04/28 didn’t activate. Came up as Declined - Follow Refund Process or words to that effect. They refunded me. I used up my 5 card discount with that last transaction and was unable to purchase 2 replacement cards with discount. Buyer beware on the ones with 04/28 expiry

      • +1

I appreciate the warning. However, I purchased 5 cards with expiry of 04/28. I just checked the balance on 1 and it was fine.

        • +1

If it activates at checkout, you should be fine. If it doesn’t, your discount is used up anyway

        • +1

          I spoke too soon. I just had 3 x 04/28 cards decline.

      • +1

Just had one of my five not activate. Missed out on the small $6 saving, but getting the points on Amex Plat Edge and the Flybuys, main objective attained.

        • But your spend would have to be refunded?

        • I'm hoping these purchases won't push up the min spend for Flybuys bonus points offers!

      • +1

Last time I had this the card was actually activated even though the docket said failed.

      • I didn't check the receipts, and worker didn't say anything but 2 of my cards had declined. Anyone been through the process of getting them reloaded/fixed by customer care?

  • +1

plenty of stock in SYD city stores, looks $6 profit is not so attractive?

I just converted vanilla MC +FF for a little more benefit. that $500 MC card showed as "redeemable 3rd party GIFT CARD" at counter's screen but staff didn't care.

    • Plenty of stock available at Cole’s Wynyard on counter. Getting these to pay for strata which would normally incur a 1.5% credit card surcharge. By getting these and paying via Sniip works out to be no surcharge once factor in the $6 off. Get Cc points too

  • Look like no 10% discount for this year.

    • No. There has been no shortage of cards available in my coles. Sign of the times.

    • yes there was actually

  • Encountered this issue when using the gift card to pay for my ATO bill:
"There was an unexpected processing error. Check your account statement to confirm whether the payment was successful before you try to make your payment again."

Gift card status is active and has the full balance. Any idea how to resolve this issue?

    • I have had this and successfully did it again about 10 min later.

      • Great to hear! Tried again a few hours later and still encountering the same issue, unfortunately…

        • +1

Tried the next day and it worked! :)

          • @thebricoleur: Its failing while paying Origin utility bills. Have used it successfully many times in the past!

  • -1

I used these exact cards to buy new ones and received the discount

    • Epic if true (although I doubt it).

      • +1

Woolies vanilla work to. It's a bit of an annoyance getting the worker to approve the gift card after you scan and then verify the signature but it's a free $60 if you have 2 flybuys accounts

        • Could you explain how you get a return of $60 ?
Sorry fairly new to prepaid cards and need to pay ATO tonight.
wanting to get best return if I can, thanks!

    • Now you've ruined it.

      • How

  • I got a new one on the weekend . It’s five cards per household . I showed the manager the banner which states five per flybuys but he said that’s at the managers discretion lol

    • 🤯

    • +3

Yes, I have had that as well. The good thing is that someone who has not been told this will be there the next day. I find it best to go on weekends or late in the day when casuals work and don't know or do not care. The best one I had was when I was told that I could not buy the cards individually as they would not activate. A few weeks later I was told that I could not buy them individually because that is what scammers do. Another time again I was told that it was against the law for them to sell more than 4 cards and when I asked what law was that I was quickly surrounded by 2 assistants and a burly security guy. I do not know what they thought a lady in her 60s would do to them. All in the same store.
But if you load up a trolley and walk out without paying they are told not to do anything about it.

      • Do you know what exactly is the scam? I have been getting the look when I buy giftcards lately, it used to be a concerned look. Do people promise you gift cards in exchange for work or something?

        • There have been scams one was a romance scam where the scammer asks for the details of the card to be given to them so they can spend it. Probably others too. But my point is that Coles employees are eager to scrutinise purchases of this card and this card only. The excuse about cards not activating if purchased individually was fake as I bought many during this promotion that did. They just make these rules to make purchasing these more and more difficult, even not placing them on the stands even though they have them in storage which I have seen myself. Maybe someone who works at Coles can tell us why.

          • +1

@Yola: Oh lol Catfishing is getting harder if they are going after gift cards now. I’ve only heard of people transferring cash for this kind of thing. Employees usually have their own understanding of what promotions are for, some have very misplaced loyalty. Maybe you could just ask them next time.

  • +2

I have had my local store see me walk in to buy these cards at 10% and run up to the rack and take them from the shelfs. I asked about it and was told they aren't for sale there's a problem with activating them. I said I could fix that but they still wouldn't let me buy them. For me it's gotten that bad I filmed the staff telling me on camera that they just don't like me and what im doing. I even was banned for 12 months from coles supermarkets for buying these cards.

    • +1

You win. That is the worst example of what happens when people buy these cards. You should complain to Coles head office.

    • Back in the day at Woolworths they took the EFTPOS cards off the shelf as we were going around in circles buying them using inception. We called it a day and went for dinner using the EFTPOS cards to pay.

  • So I sent a email to coles head office and messaged on Facebook. Nothing changed

    • Send it every day. Squicky door gets oiled.

      • +3

Nah! It just gets you blocked.

Officeworks took over one year to refund a faulty router. Numerous phone calls went unanswered for at least30 minutes each time. Numerous emails failed to get the matter resolved. So I decided to shame them on Facebook. Ended up with a warning that if I continually posted, I would be blocked, to which I responded "get me someone who can help, and I wouldn't have to keep posting, or expect a small claims summons soon"

What would you know… someone finally resolved my issue, to which I signed off on the last email. Looks like I did have to shame Officeworks into doing the right thing after all.
