CG-NAT works fine for most users. CG-NAT can break remote access to some home security cameras, some home automation products, Plex server, NAS, servers or if you want to host online P2P games. When you turn off CG-NAT you will be able to use remote access and host online P2P games again. Leave CG-NAT turned on if you don't do any of this.

If your home security cameras and automation products use a cloud server you will not be affected by CG-NAT.

You can get Carrier Grade NAT turned off for free if needed. Call up Superloop support or use the Superloop online chat on the Superloop website (red and black icon, bottom right).

$5/month is for a static IP address.

Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (CGNAT)
Where CGNAT is available, your IP address will default to using CGNAT, unless you specifically request to opt out of CGNAT, which may be approved by Superloop in its discretion. When opting out of CGNAT, a dynamic public IP address will be assigned to the service, however, you may request a static public IP address (at additional cost).

Static IP
A single Static IP address is available upon request for the additional monthly fee on all residential Superloop nbn plans.
Static IP $5 (inc. GST)

Cancelling Your Plan
You can cancel your Superloop nbn Home Broadband Service at any time by giving Superloop 30 days' notice.

Credit Card Surcharge
Services that are paid by Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express) incur a 1.0% transaction fee. You can pay by Direct Debit from your bank to avoid these fees.

Solid deal. I wish they would do a decent 250/100 deal, am really itching for some faster upload

    • They’ve got a 2Gbps symmetrical plan for $350.

      • +2

Even 1 gigabit symmetrical is US$70, which is about $105 here. Seriously, WTF Libs?!?!

      • FAR OUT

    • +4

Yeah, I'd much rather this than 1000/50. Something like 500/100 would be ideal, though, but I'd settle for 250/100 if the price was good.

      • Same. Working from home with very large data sets the upload is the crippler - not the download. Stuck on HFC however, and NBNco have upgrading HFC technology at a pretty low priority.

  • +3

Anyone have any luck in getting them to apply it for existing customers?

    • +4

I got my existing account dropped to $99pm for the next 12 months by asking nicely to their accounts team. I’ve been with Superloop since MyRepublic closed and haven’t been bothered churning to save a few bucks. They wouldn’t throw in an Eero as well though.

      • +2

Ditto on that. Just did the same, dropped to $99pm as an existing customer - by kindly pointing out I could churn to Leaptel for the same BF offer. cheers @bargainben

        • I'm already on the $99 for 250mbps plan, but have a referral discount for 2 more months. Hope I don't lose the discount if I change

        • I asked really nicely on chat and they said No. They just said the Black Friday deal is new customers only. Will try calling their retention team

          • @TheNewBargainer: I just tried.. got offered every free piece of junk under the sun.. then got offered $105 and still wouldnt go to $99..

Cya superloop.. you care as much for your existing customers as ABB did with this sort of crap

            • @r1mick: I just tried calling on my lunch break and the estimated 20-minute wait time has actually taken 1 hour. They won't answer. So I think I'll just leave them.

Did someone say there was a leaptel Black Friday deal?

              • +1

@TheNewBargainer: Their website is so frustrating that you can't cancel.. you have to call.. and then have to give them 30 days.. I got offered $99 on my CANCEL call and I was telling her I still wanted to cancel becuase I should have just been offered it in the first place.. :P

I accepted the 99 for 12 months but I might still look to move out of principal..

        • **i'm blind theres a chat function

      • Hey. I actually never knew they closed. I had an excellent run with them, but moved for pricing… And forgot they existed

      • What team did you talk to? The billing team?

        • It was the retention team. Put me on hold twice and took a few mins. But agreed to match the $99 for 12 months. I did leverage that I had been with them for a while on this plan and was thinking of changing to one of 5 other suppliers with a $99 or cheaper promotion plan. Seemed to get me over the line. Good luck 👍🏼

    • +3

+1 im currently with superloop, wonder if i can ask them in live chat to get this deal.

Currently paying $79 a month for 100/40 (first 6 months)

I would be wanting to switch to 1000/50 for $89/month.

Not sure if they'll let it slide since I'll go to a more expensive plan.

      • +1

I pay $81/m for 50/20 with Superloop, I've asked for discounts in the past and they've always told me I'm getting the best price.

        • +6

….they've always told me I'm getting the best price

as they snigger with their hand over the microphone.

          • +1

@alidli: Spoke to the retention team and they offered me a $3/m discount. After I said I want to cancel they offered me a $10/m discount for 12 months. Happy with that for now, paying $79/m for 100/20 and get 5 free speed boosts per month to 250

    • +1

I've tried twice and they have told me to leave if I don't like the current prices, they claimed they get a rebate from NBN for new customers only, not sure if true.

      • +1

I was considering jumping to Buddy once my referral discount is over, damn that 30 day thing is annoying

      • +1

I’m on the $99 250 plan and called them to match this offer. Wouldn’t budge as it was for new customers only. Anyway, got them to give me the 1000 speed at my existing price so bit of a win.

    • +1

When I first signed up with Superloop, the guy told me to call up every 6 months and ask for my sign-up deal to be refreshed. I also recall their website having a system set up for users to refresh the deal as well.

They've since gotten rid of that, and seemed to have moved their call centre overseas. I was having drop out issues for a few months and afterwards asked to get on the new signup deal and the lady said "we can't do that, we've never been able to do that".

    • Unfortunately no luck. They insisted it is for new customers only.

      Churn.

  • How long does this deal go for? I was thinking of trying SL about 4 or 5 months ago, but never got around to it. Had been meaning to still try them, so this could be the right time to move over

How would I go about signing up if I want to activate on a different port? I'd like to keep my current service on the current FTTP port, as I'd like to try SL first before cancelling it as I'm on a grandfathered plan that I don't want to cancel with first trying SL first.

If I have to call via phone to do it this way, would I be able to use the BF code verbally?

Insta post says until the 8 Dec.

      - 8 Dec, 2024. Typical Evening Speeds 860/42Mbps.
Price for 12 months then $109 ongoing. See website for T&Cs.”

      • +1

I'm contemplating ticking the box, but is the eero 6+ modem regarded as a good modem for a home with no serious gamers and a bit of movie streaming?

        • +2

eero 6+ Wi-Fi 6 router is good enough for most. You may need more than one eero.

Each eero 6+ covers up to 140 sq. m.

FTTN, FTTB = BYO VDSL2 modem bridged + eero 6+ router.
FTTC = nbn NCD box + eero 6+ router.
FTTP, HFC, Fixed Wireless = nbn NTD box + eero 6+ router.

          • +2

            @Twix: Thanks!

            Yes, I realised after I posted that I'd mis-named it :)

            • +1

@Wing Nut: All good. Your other option is to purchase eero from Amazon AU.

  • +4

    Code still not working

  • Will they let you opt out of CGNat and also offer ipv6?

Last time I was with Superloop it didn't play nice with our online gaming consoles.

    Leaptel has been much better.

    • +1

I think it is $5 a month for static IP which is what I likely would choose. Can't remember if you can opt. out of CGNat.

      • -1

I tried, to opt out of CGNat you've to get static IP for 5 dollars a month. There's no other way around. But with leaptel I could just login and turn CGNat off.

        • +10

Incorrect.Same as ABB just contact support, the line I use is I can’t access my “security cameras” remotely any more.

        • +1

Did you end up getting a static IP? If not, you could try what UltimateAI said.

    • +2

Yes you can, just ssk through live chat

    • +1

      Yes free

    • +1

I asked Customer service chat if I could opt out last month and they did it for free?

    • +2

Seems every nbn deal I see now, there's comments about CGNat. Is literally every provider defaulting to CGN nowadays? I've needed a static IP for years so I haven't noticed and just purchased the add on, but I never knew ABB and Superloop default to CGnat.

I wonder how many average consumers have issues with gaming and never realise why.

      • +2

Telstra, TPG and Optus don't use CG-NAT on nbn. Most other nbn providers use CG-NAT for new signups. Some nbn providers let you turn off CG-NAT for $0 or pay an extra $5/m or $10/m fee for a static IP address to turn off CG-NAT.

CG-NAT can be a problem if you want to host online P2P games. Most other online games normally work fine.

    • +4

      I just switched from Leaptel.

I called them up and explained what I wanted and they initially tried to steer me to a static IP for $5 a month. I explained I don't want a static IP, I just want the CGNAT turned off to allow me to access my CCTV remotely. The online chat advises you must call them to do it, however you can still do it online according to other comments on this thread.

Soon after the call I power cycled my router and I was able to access my CCTV remotely again!

Also in case anyone was wondering, it took 40 minutes from start to finish for me to swap over from Leaptel and be up and running.

  • +1

SB or CB stackable or nah?

    • Try and let us know.

  • +5

I keep getting the error "promo code is not valid" on checkout page 1. Did it work for anyone?

    • +5

Nope, probably starts at 7am/10am I assume

    • +1

I can't see where to put the promo code. Is it when you put your credit details in?

      • +3

If on mobile, right after you tap checkout, you'll be able to expand "Your order summary", and it will have a couple fields for referral and promo codes.

  • +5

    Code not working for me.

  • +5

This couldnt have come at a better time, my 12 month with leaptel ends next month 😂

  • +1

I literally just renewed with them YESTERDAY for 250/25 for $89/month for 12 months

    • +3

Then you have a cooling off period.

      Time to get cold feet

  • +2

does anyone know if this would be valid if i was last with them in June 2024? Is there a 6 month or 12 month ‘new customer’ waiting period

    • +1

Not sure but have you got someone else in your household to join with in case?

  • +3

Was about to sign up, but saw the cgnat is now enforced unless paying $5 extra for static ip.

Sorry, superloop no go for me.

    • +3

Annoying as it use to be just a manual request option:/

      • yeah. I used to be Superloop customer 2 years ago before switching to my current ISP Exetel. and that was the case when I was with Superloop. I was able to opt out the CGNAT.

    • Don't think it is. I asked the live chat last month if I could opt out and had no issues with doing it? Didn't have to pay anything

    • +1

Surely $5 extra still makes this a decent deal?

  • +1

    code not working still

  • When you want to leave do these guys accept the 30 day notice via email/live chat?

    • +4

Prob have to call them… So they can try to retain you

  • +2

So if you sign up now how long can you postpone the activation date for?

    • Like to know this too, my current plan needs one month notice

    • +1

You can pick a date within a month.

      • Do you have to do that via phone call?

Also, any idea if I can join on a different port? I assume that can't be done on the online form?

        • livechat can help if you didn’t choose a specific date

          • @cyruslol: It's not about the specific date, it's about the specific port. I don't want to churn as I want to leave my current connection enabled still while also moving over to SL on a different port. The date that happens doesn't really bother me. I want to have both service running for a couple of weeks to test the SL one before cancelling my current one.

      • Ok cheers that's perfect then

  • +1

Can Nbn/ HFC device box actually hit 1000?

    • It may hit the typical evening speed of 860 though. lol

    • 970Mbps max.

      • -2

The max speed on nbn Gigabit is actually 970Mbps. Thanks for the neg champ.

    • +1

The new NBN HFC NTD’s are capable of 2.5Gbps.

      https://imgur.com/46SzGWl

    • +1

Just signed up, and on HFC
It got connected in less than an hour (replaced my previous NBN with ABB)

      Speed test results:

      Download Mbps 919.98
      Upload Mbps 47.68

  • Think I saw something similar for Leaptel being pushed the other day too if, cant seem to find it now.

    • That would be great, because I want to switch to them to take advantage of the $599 eero 7 max deal

    • +2

Leaptel Black Friday pricing is the same as what's already offered.

1000/50 $99/m for 12 months (new nbn FTTP and HFC customers).
1000/50 $89/m for 12 months when you swap from nbn FTTN to FTTP or FTTC to FTTP (new and existing customers).

  • +2

    Code still not working

  • Says promo code is not valid when I try to checkout ?

  • Any modem/router recommendations? (For HFC)

  • +3

    When does it end?
I need to shuffle a month.

All good the add notes 18th nov to 9th dec

    • Are you with TPG as well, as I am too.

  • My POI is Werribee, anyone in this POI with superloop including experience with drop outs/speeds?

    • +1

I am in Point Cook. Excellent speeds and no dropouts. Been with them for past 2 years.

  • +1

code isn't working for me :(

  • i don't have to be home when i get service, correct? I plan on picking a day that i am in the office when i am not depending on internet. how fast does it iake to get service running?

  • I had great experience with their customer service, but unfortunately my smart devices never worked with them. Had to move to ABB.

    • +2

Which smart devices? I wouldn't have thought ISP would make any difference to smart devices operations?
