CG-NAT works fine for most users. CG-NAT can break remote access to some home security cameras, some home automation products, Plex server, NAS, servers or if you want to host online P2P games. When you turn off CG-NAT you will be able to use remote access and host online P2P games again. Leave CG-NAT turned on if you don't do any of this.

If your home security cameras and automation products use a cloud server you will not be affected by CG-NAT.

You can get Carrier Grade NAT turned off for free if needed. Call up Superloop support or use the Superloop online chat on the Superloop website (red and black icon, bottom right).

$5/month is for a static IP address.

Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (CGNAT)
Where CGNAT is available, your IP address will default to using CGNAT, unless you specifically request to opt out of CGNAT, which may be approved by Superloop in its discretion. When opting out of CGNAT, a dynamic public IP address will be assigned to the service, however, you may request a static public IP address (at additional cost).

Static IP
A single Static IP address is available upon request for the additional monthly fee on all residential Superloop nbn plans.
Static IP $5 (inc. GST)

Cancelling Your Plan
You can cancel your Superloop nbn Home Broadband Service at any time by giving Superloop 30 days' notice.

Credit Card Surcharge
Services that are paid by Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express) incur a 1.0% transaction fee. You can pay by Direct Debit from your bank to avoid these fees.

          Tangerine should cancel automatically.

        • I was with More and Tangerine before. The speed is the "Real Terrible".

  • Guess I'm going with superloop. Leaptel are refusing to drop from $109 even though their system shows me on a $99 plan for the same service.

Zero effort to keep me on board as a loyal customer, even after I said I would be fine with $99/mo.

  • I signed up to the 1000/50 plan
It only took a couple of hours for them to cancel old supplier and Connect Superloop

Reset everything and ran a speedtest.

4pm and I am only getting 177/47Mb/s with 3ms Lat

I might as well have stayed on my 100Mb/s old service if this is what I will get

    • +1

Your router and devices might not be capable of Gigabit. What are you using?

      • ASUS RT-AC68U ac1900
Says gigabit on the front of it even

        • +1

You won't get close to Gigabit speeds if the router has a slow processor. Is it the Asus RT-AC68U or something else?

          • @Twix: I get over 800Mb/s transferring files between PC's
Yes it's the Asus RT-AC68U, hardwired too, not wifi

            • @Cral42: Yeah some RT-AC68U get 920-950Mbps no problem and some RT-AC68U are stuck with much slower wired speeds. Switch off Asus AiProtection, QoS, Traffic Analyzer and do another speedtest. If those changes don't make a difference you have to replace the RT-AC68U with a higher spec router to solve the problem.

  • I'm with TPG and they said it's 30 days notice to cancel, so I'll be charged for another month.

Signed up with superloop and matched the connection date with the cancel date with TPG but see so many people signing up and connecting today so thought I'd see what others have done with notice periods.

    • +5

Based on ACCC guidance and past cases, generally anything beyond 5-10 business days for a standard consumer internet service could be considered excessive, since technically switching providers or disconnecting an NBN service can be done within 1-2 business days from a technical standpoint.

I'll be lodging a TIO complaint if Tangerine tries it on. Dec 4 is my month end date. They can pay the TIO for the privilege of dealing with a complaint if they wish.

  • +1

Tempted to go for the 100mbps plan but my FTTN can only reach 67mbps :(

    • +3

Can you swap from nbn FTTN to FTTP?

      https://www.superloop.com/flip-to-fibre

    • How do you know if your FTTN only reaches 67mbps? Sorry I have never had any plan over 50mbps. Is it through normal internet speed test to find out? TIA

      • +1

Login to your modem and look for sync speed or max attainable speed.

If you can swap to FTTP you can get 100/20 or any of these faster speed tiers.

    Just sharing my experience:
I was with superloop last year and due to dropouts in the middle of the day (and some nights) decided to churn over to ABB before the end of the billing cycle. So I didn’t know about SL “1 month cancellation notice” and they sent another bill even though I had not even used 1 byte of. Long story short reported to telecoms ombudsman and they waived the charge. Today decided to switch back to SL and guess what, got an email after few hours later stating:
“Your Application for Service has been declined as we have detected what might be attempts at misrepresentation to obtain goods and services.
Your application details were matched by our reporting agency to previously declined applications within the Superloop Group of Companies.”

I would stay away from a company who would hold grudge against their past customers. So long SL

    • wow. kinda dislike SL myself, esp over their $10 fee they charge, just because the stored payment method didnt work on the 1st attempt.

    • +11

Definitely report that to the TIO. Retaliatory action against customers for making complaints (including TIO complaints) is prohibited under several frameworks including ACL and ACCC

    • +1

I just got declined as well. No idea why… I take particular offense at "attempts at misrepresentation to obtain goods and services". Just went through the normal signup procedure. Dunno.

Also in their email "No further correspondence will be entered into and any further applications will be Declined without notification."

Oh well, no Superloop customer here then.

  • My current router system can only deliver the full speed (1000mbps) through the main node and the satellite nodes can only deliver speed like 250mbps.

Any recommendations on the router system that don't have that dramatic speed drop from satellite nodes?

    • +1

wired back haul if possible or try wireless access points

  • If you're an existing customer, call up and go through to the cancellation team, tell them you would like to cancel because of this offer and they'll likely offer you $99/month for 12 months to keep you. Not $20 off, but potentially super quick and easy for $10 off.

  • +1

Signed up at 0930 this morning and it's still pending.

Interesting others have churned. Last time I tried to churn it was blocked since they won't connect more than one 1000 service at a time.

    • +1

Same. Signed up at 9.27am AEST and still no progress.

      • Signed up 3:35pm
        4:17pm SL service looks active.

        haven't touched router/modem/NTD.

    • Same here. I signed up at 10:45am (AEST) and it's still on "Order submitted" in superhub. I need a VOIP service ported so maybe it has something to do with that.

      • If you have ordered a router, you will need to contact them via online chat/call to get them to log the order, as if you select a router their assumption is you do not currently have one so it would not be processed until the new router arrives.
I’ve just called them and they were really helpful!

        • Thanks for the heads up!

In my case I haven't ordered a router, but I reached out to support anyway. They confirmed that they're waiting on the phone port to be completed before they churn NBN.

      • Was told it would take up to 10—15 days to port out my old VoIP number. As the service is a package my Superloop connection won't be activated until number is ported over. Decided to cancel the port and connect straight away before my next Telstra billing cycle. Nightmare trying to cancel port request as Telstra won't cancel your service if there is a port request pending.

  • Just made the swap, took around 30 mins to be transferred over from Leaptel to SL. Getting 950/47 right now, same as leaptel. Automatically ported, I didn't have to do anything.

  • Anyone know how long it takes to get an email confirmation from superloop after signing up via Econexx for shopback cashback?

    • +1

do top cashback over shopback much better cashback.

      • Thanks ended up cancelling order and going through topcashback

  • Would this work if your fibre connection is OptiComm?

  • Hi all I apologise if this question asked previously in this large post.
Anyone with SL Brisbane North Side around Mitchelton on HFC. If so what is your thoughts?

    • North Brisbane here - they’re fine

      • Thank you

  • I know HFC Telstra Modem will work on Superloop, but what about my Smart Booster V3?

Bulk of gaming is in a bungalow, hence hardwired not an option without trenching

    • Just ported and have the booster and both work, just having issues with speed atm, was on 250 before signed for 1000 but only gettin 300-450 max

  • +1

Noob question. I have always had around 100/20mbps nbn. Would I get a better gaming experience if I went for 100/40 service? Or is the extra upload speed just for big files like WFH stuff.

    • +1

Yeah the extra upload speed is mostly useful for big files or streaming: WFH, cloud storage/backup, video streaming, Plex over the internet, etc.

For gaming, you probably won't see much benefit unless you're hosting a game server yourself and even then it'd need to be a pretty big server to see a benefit going from 20 to 40mbps. The thing that would make a big difference is your ping to the server which has more to do with your connection type (FTTP is marginally better than HFC/FTTC/FTTN, which are way better than FW/Satellite) and distance to the game server.

      • Thank you…helped to make up my mind.

  • +4

cmon NBN lower the wholesale prices more please. daddy needs that 250mbps for $60 a month

  • please note add .50-70cents for credit card transaction fees

  • doesn't work for Opticomm customers, otherwise about 6 people i know would have already jumped on this deal.

  • @tightarse can this be stacked with cashback offer?

  • Just called them as an existing customer. Best they could offer was $104 for 6 months for the 1000/50, or $94 for 250/25 for 6 months.

  • I'm on Opticomm, the code doesn't work and don't get free Amazon router -_-

  • Cashrewards currently has $85 cashback for Superloop via Econnect cashback. Offer ends in 2 days.

You can get same plans, eg
    100/20 $69/Month for 12 Months

  • did anyone with a deferred sign up date not get a confirmation email? I have checked junk

    • +1

Deferred til 5 December. Have received receipt and “let’s get started” emails

      • 5th December… any chance you’re with More?

  • +1

Thanks OP, transfer took about 30 minutes and the speed is the same (if not better) than Leaptel. Not sure why there’s so much hate for this RSP. My ex colleagues friend who works at NBN said Superloop have the lowest ping times after Telstra.

  • Could I cancel my existing account with them and have someone else in my household sign up again under this offer as a new customer?

    • Also thinking of doing this. Just calling and cancelling my service as I’m moving out and having my partner sign up as a new customer. Would be keen to know if anyone successfully had this done?

Sucks that they need 30 day notice AND they don't pro rata refunds

    • I have done this, it took a bit more effort but I just signed up for the black-friday special and asked them to apply the service at the end of my 30 day cancellation date.

They said they have set it up to do that, I wont know exactly how it plays out until 19/12 but it seems to be working.

      • I did the same, logged into the account and saw the order state as hold/rejected because of duplicate request. Are you getting the same thing?

        • Yes, I called them up and they needed identity documents.
After I gave them the documents and called back they said they would pass the info to the engineers to apply the service on the end date of the currently active one (due to the 30 notice period)

I also asked them to confirm what the account number was for the current service and the incoming service and confirmed they were correct, so I suspect that on the 19/12 I should get my discounted service

        • +1

Same for me - Hold or rejected status.

I've cancelled existing service under my partner's name then signup under my name and set the connection date 1 day after current disconnection date.

  • Thanks OP, got connected within an hour, and cash back (TopCashback) tracked immediately after I placed the order

  • Sorry if it's been answered already. Do I need to change any settings in router (TP-Link Deco M5) if I move from ABB FTTP to SL?
And should I first signup SL and after connection is setup then call ABB to terminate?

    • +1

Signup to SL first. Aussie BB should auto cancel. Give Aussie BB a call if it doesn't.

You don't change any Deco settings when swapping between Aussie BB and SL.

    • Nothing to change.
They would let you know if you need to change anything regarding ports etc but 99% it will sort itself automatically.

  • Noob question - what’s the benefit of opting out to CGNAT?

    • +4

CG-NAT can break remote access to some home security cameras, some home automation products, Plex server, NAS, servers or if you want to host online P2P games. When you turn off CG-NAT you will be able to use remote access and host online P2P games again. Leave CG-NAT turned on if you don't do any of this.

If your home security cameras and automation products use a cloud server you will not be affected by CG-NAT.

      • +3

Finally a good explanation. Usually you just see some randos that claim nothing will work with CG Nat in place, but the reality is most people will be absolutely fine.

  • Just signed up was easy as, took 20min.

  • +1

This would be up there with the NBN deal of the decade.

For 12 months will work out around $80 a month after the cashback for NBN1000. The wholesale cost is $72.50ish.

Add in a 10% referral bonus and you are paying less than the wholesale cost!

For a genuinely quality network, albeit crap customer service, that is insane.

    • +1

you don't get 10% off the referrer does not you

      • I wonder if existing customers could do this:

        • Referral to partner / other household member
        • Cancel service
        • Sign up to this offer via the partner's referral
        • Combine with Topcashback

It would be interesting and sure beats the $4 discount they appear to be offering many existing customers when asked…

  • Hi Everyone!

Sorry for the noob question…as ive never needed to churn but this offer is too good to pass!

im currently with Exetel… if I want to switch to superloop, what should I do first?

Sign up and then call Exetel afterwards and give them the “30 days notice” cancellation?

Can i ask SL to use the next available UNI-D port during the sign up ? (Currently exetel is using UNI-D 1)

    Thanks in advanced! :)

    Thanks :)

    • +1

Just sign up, the Superloop can see your existing connection and they action the disconnect/transfer for you.

I didn't have any option to choose UNI port, it just replaced the existing ABB one and changed over by itself.
      Total 60seconds downtime.

  • nice deal anyone in Coffs harbour region, with some ping times! aslo what backbone do superloop use.

    • North side of Coffs and it's been rock solid with nill dropouts over the last 3 months
      https://www.speedtest.net/result/17027064806
      i am on the 250/25
i did have a trial period of 1000/50 and was getting 600/50 over wifi mesh
I am an existing customer and am going to give 30 days notice and put and start new service in my wifes name

  • I am with More Telecom for $95/month 1000/40 lifetime deal, should I switch to this for $5/month savings for a year then see how it goes next year?

  • +1

Switched to Superloop from Optus. Switchover happened after about 45mins without any issues. Was getting 250mbps~ on 1000 plan HFC and worked fine for about 2 more hours before internet going down completely. Now theres no internet urghhh

  • I don't understand why the plans are not 100/20 > 100/40 > 250/50

Why does going to 250 download mean a downgrade in upload speeds?

    • Ask NBN

    • +1

100/40 is the original FTTP plan, but when the NBN was butchered by the Abbott/Turnbull government they had to accommodate FTTN and HFC, hence the heavily asymmetric plans.

HFC is better these days and FTTP is becoming the most common option again, so they could fix it, but most people don't care about uploads so that's how it is.

  • +2

Ok, massive big up to our man OP!
Signed up on way home from work.
    They were super patient.
    Just finalised around 5pm.
    Had my own router …
Yep a few issues arose, so called but no ot got to 5:30.
Then i realised the service centre doesn't shut till maybe 10pm.
.an am i impressed with everything so far , they connected me within less than an hour and support were patient and helpful.
Sorry for rambling but after great customer service from Mate but crap actual NBN im SUPER happy so far with Superloop …(fingers crossed).
    Sign up now

  • Currently on 100/20, What real world differences do you find with 100/40? Thanks

    • Not much unless you're regularly uploading/backing up large files (and noticing this takes longer than you'd prefer).
If you're not having issues related to upload speed then there's no need to upgrade to 100/40.

  • So I just noticed they charge a $10 late payment fee. This is quite annoying considering Leaptel didn’t but oh well, at least the service is good.

  • When using Topcashback does anyone else get an error when being transferred to SL?

This site can’t be reached | t.cfjump.com’s server IP address could not be found.

    • +1

Do you have an adblocker enabled?

      • Works on phone. Might have been.

  • WOW transferred from ABB. 40min later activation completed on FTTP 1000/50.
    Very happy so far

    • roughly what time did you submit your application if you don’t mind me asking?

  • Any chance all these new sign ups are gonna cause peak time congestion?

    • I wonder too. They grab all the customers then network congested… better stay where I'm!?

  • So Superloop is good again? 522 positives..
