CG-NAT works fine for most users. CG-NAT can break remote access to some home security cameras, some home automation products, Plex server, NAS, servers or if you want to host online P2P games. When you turn off CG-NAT you will be able to use remote access and host online P2P games again. Leave CG-NAT turned on if you don't do any of this.

If your home security cameras and automation products use a cloud server you will not be affected by CG-NAT.

You can get Carrier Grade NAT turned off for free if needed. Call up Superloop support or use the Superloop online chat on the Superloop website (red and black icon, bottom right).

$5/month is for a static IP address.

Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (CGNAT)
Where CGNAT is available, your IP address will default to using CGNAT, unless you specifically request to opt out of CGNAT, which may be approved by Superloop in its discretion. When opting out of CGNAT, a dynamic public IP address will be assigned to the service, however, you may request a static public IP address (at additional cost).

Static IP
A single Static IP address is available upon request for the additional monthly fee on all residential Superloop nbn plans.
Static IP $5 (inc. GST)

Cancelling Your Plan
You can cancel your Superloop nbn Home Broadband Service at any time by giving Superloop 30 days' notice.

Credit Card Surcharge
Services that are paid by Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express) incur a 1.0% transaction fee. You can pay by Direct Debit from your bank to avoid these fees.

    • Not really they are good when connection works but not when the connection goes down and you need support

  • Transfer took about 30mins just now - note that when you leave you need 30 days cancellation notice! I got burnt by this in the past!

Remember all these companies whether telecom, banking, insurance, there's never worthwhile rewards for "loyal" customers so keep switching and make them compete with each other to offer better new customer deals.

  • Guess it's time to see if the router and wifi can handle 1000/50

  • Looking for some help here as their current help desk is closed.

My current modem connected to the nbn black box (HFC), isn’t fast enough for the 1000mbps plan. Can the amazon eero 6+ replace the modem?

Currently with mate nbn and it’s possibly the worst nbn I’ve signed up ever for wfh.

    • Yes it can.
      (It's a router not a modem)

  • +1

    Nothing for 50/20…..? :(

  • A bit pissed that I just finished churning off Superloop in Sep…

Anyone know what counts as a new customer, looks like it's not in the T&C?

    • Try contacting costumer service

    • I just got my housemate to sign up with their email, obviously same address and the like as the last service and it seems to have accepted the black-friday coupon.

There is the 30-day cancellation period though so it could change after that.

  • Is it just me, or does Superloop seem to take slightly longer to load webpages and YouTube videos, even on a 1000/50 connection?

I previously used Aussie Broadband on a 100/20 plan, and it felt like pages and videos loaded instantly.

  • Anyone know if you leave other isp in between if they return the balance from termination date?

  • I have a telstra modem. can i use that and would it do it automatically?

    • +1

should be able to i just requested with a Telstra modem which i took to abb and now I'm taking to superloop

    • +1

Yes it'll work as it works with your current provider

  • Are you charged the first month up front?

    • +1

      No

  • Thank-you OP.
I was with Superloop, moved over to More because of the CBA discount, which ended in October, so now back to Superloop. For the record I did not have an issue with either Superloop or More. I am just moving because of the pricing.

  • Churned to Superloop NBN 100/20 at 7pm last night and it was activated about 70 minutes later. $70 TCB tracked quickly and later confirmed.

  • Noob question: Switched over to the 1000/50 plan from 100/20 AGL, restarted router and NTD, Deco M5 router speed test returns 800mbps-ish within its own software, all other speed tests via WiFi return <100mbps. Is my router throttling the WiFi still? Is it that QoS thing?

    • might be the Deco 5 itself
      I only get 8-900 with WiFi 7
      With WiFi 6 I get 4-500

    • this probably wont help but when i first upgraded i was getting super slow wifi speeds on my laptop, i went into google chrome settings and played with the settings, after turning "use hardware acceleration" on, it got alot faster, i also turned my laptop from silent mode to performance mode and between those 2 settings my wifi went from 80Mbps to 500Mbps +

    • +1

Deco M5 is capable of about 900Mbps wired ethernet and up to 450-500Mbps with Wi-Fi 5. Sub 100Mbps sounds like it's connecting over 2.4GHz. Check that your Wi-Fi device is using 5GHz.

  • Switched from ABBs 25/10 to this 100/40.

Deco x55 mesh system (excellent signal of -40 everywhere).

Done a dozen speedtests after the changeover, multiple router soft restarts and 9/10 of the speedtests are in the 25-30DL/10-15 UL, one or two at double that.

    Previously was getting 23/8.

All wifi/ didn't change any settings.

    Elwood, Mel.

    Anyone able to help?

    • Maybe try restarting NTD and power off router for a min or 2 then try again?

      • Great advice - didn't yet work for me but something like this will.

  • How's the latency and consistency compared to Aussie BB? Considering 1000/50mb for gaming.

    • +1

I switched last night they are pretty much the same as ABB for me nothing has changes speed, upload, ping all the same just 40$ cheaper lol

    • +3

well they are cheap because they cut the customer support level, otherwise they are both just NBN resellers, i doubt there will be big difference.

  • -1

Almost clicked go until I read they want $5 per month for a fixed IP address… nope, just nope.

    • +1

Most providers charge for a Static IP.

      • Not mine (Exetel). Zero, zip, nothing. It costs them zero, so they charge just because they can.

        • +3

I wonder how long that will last since Superloop does own Exetel. An extra $5/m with this pricing is still good. IPs cost money and there is a IPv4 shortage.

    • So your provider is offering better price than 94/m for 1000/50 for 12 months?

      • Unfortunately Exetel dont offer 1000/50 which is the reason I looked at Superloop. Remember, the $94/m is only for 12 months. The $5 per month for fixed IP tips the cost over a reasonable price point, so I'll look at other providers. I am in no mad hurry to move, so happy to take my time to find the most effective deal.

        • +6

come on, who is going to pay full price nowadays, after 12 months we all jump to another provider with better promo price. i paid 89/m for 1000/50 12 months last year at leaptel, and now again same price from superloop, 12 months later, go to somewhere else.

        • +4

          1000/50 comparison.

          Superloop $89/m for 12 months + $5/m for a static IP address.
Leaptel $89/m for 12 months (only if you are swapping from FTTN to FTTP or FTTC to FTTP) + $10/m for a static IP address.
Leaptel $99/m for 12 months (if you already have FTTP or HFC) + $10/m for a static IP address.
Buddy Telco (Aussie BB) $99/m ongoing + free static IPv6 only. They might add a $10/m static IPv4 option later.
Aussie BB $109/m for 6 months + $5/m for a static IP address.
Launtel $4.20 a day (about $126/m) + $0.15 cents a day or $100 flat rate for a static IP address. The $100 deposit gets fully refunded if you cancel the service or no longer need the static IP.

          • @Twix: Don't forget Telstra $150/mth with no static IP lol

            • +1

@bdl: Plus you get a free home phone with unlimited calls 😂

        • +2

Exetel do offer 1000/50 plans but they don't publicly publish it on their website…you gotta call them and its only offered to "selective" customers. I rang them today to cancel my service as i was planning to move to SL and they were willing to offer me the 1000/50 plan but for $98.00 p/m…i said to price match or beat SL and ill consider staying…they said they couldn't lol

        • Unfortunately Exetel dont offer 1000/50 which is the reason I looked at Superloop.

Exetel offers it, you just have to tell them that you are thinking of moving to Superloop. Exetel is owned by Superloop.

          • @BuyOrNot: Exetel put you on Superloop's network for 1000/50 so just signup to Superloop online. It saves you calling up support.

        • I am with Exetel and on the 1000/50 plan for many months. You just have to call them and mention you want the 1000/50 plan.

  • Thanks. Have signed up for mid next month when Leaptel billing month ends.

Now do I upgrade the trusty Deco M5s.

    • no need to wait for billing ends you can do it now and get refund with unused days. why not upgrade to 6E or 7, at least 6. of course depend on you situation and setup.

      • Shit. Didnt realise Leaptel pro rata refund unused billing days?

        • +1

at least that's what i've been told an hour ago. they will send you email, asking for card detail for refund. also once SL is active, Leaptel plan cancelled automaticly.

          • @ce5himm: Great thanks. I just did online chat with Leaptel and they confirmed. I must have read a different document about another service they supply about refunds. On to SL now to change date to today. Thanks

  • Is it work the extra few $ to upgrade from Family 100/20 to Power Home 100/40?

    What is the benefit?

    • faster upload?

    • Do you upload a lot data monthly? If not then just stick to 100/20.

      • No much up load. Just mostly streaming.

        • +1

then you are fine, save the money

    • Only if you WFH and upload large files, host web services/file sharing etc. If you just use it to watch streaming video and web browsing, you probably don't need it.

  • Hi. Anyone on the Eastern Creek 2 POI in NSW? Just want to get your thoughts on the speeds there for the 100/40 Mbps plan. Thanks.

  • +1

existing customer, I signed up for super loop few weeks ago using the top cash deal for 250/25 $85 (around $70 after cashback) for 6 months, just gave them call via the cancellation team to match the BF deal and they would only do it for 6 months for $79. I asked twice if they could match it but for 12 months but they wouldn't do it. Agent told me to call again before the 6 months mark and try to negotiate using the same/similar deal. I still haven't received my cash back yet from top cash back, will the new negotiated price invalidate my cashback? just made me thinking if that will be an issue..

    • The current T&C of the cashback says Cashback is eligible for new Superloop customers only, and must remain a Superloop customer for at least 90 days after placing your order to be eligible for cashback.

I think it would have been the same for the one you signed up with. You basically wont see a cashback for a few more months

      • oh ok thanks, I don't think I signed up for a new plan, they just changed the pricing of my current 6 mths plan yo $79.. it was all done on the phone. I hope that doesn't make ineligible for the cashback?

      • +1

The $105 cash back is 20 weeks now, expect to receive it in April 2025 the earliest

      • What is considered as new customer? I have not used them for 18 months does that count?

        • should count as new. or just use parnters name to sign up.

          • @ce5himm: Does this work if you are an existing customer? Sign up in partners name at the same address?
It would seem a pretty simple work around to the 'new customer' problem…

            • @Capitano: No harm to try, I just heard from somewhere, but haven't dig into it.

              • @ce5himm: Will report back

                • @Capitano: How did you end up going with this? I was thinking of doing something similar but I wasn't sure if it was going to work

                  • @safwanc: It didn't work for me as we could not show partners address details on a bill or lease agreement. Obviously needs to be only their name and that's where we fell over…
                    With the right documentation YMMV

  • I was a customer up to about a year ago. They used to be great, until they merged with Exetel. I started having a lot of random outages. Their "speed boost" function was totally buggy, typically initiating half a day late and cutting my internet out in the process. Their app was a mess. Talking to their tech support about these issues was hopeless. Am currently with Leaptel, and so far so good.

    • +3

I had drop outs when I was with Superloop. Changed to Leaptel never had any drop outs. Connection extremely stable. And their customer service is awesome.

Also no need to deal with the 30 day billing notice in n advance

      • +1

Exactly. That 30 days notice is an Exetel thing. My interactions with Leaptel have been much more positive.

        • +1

Yeah Leaptel $89 for 12 months 250/50 is not bad however can't match Superloop deal. But that extra $10 buys you customer service and hassle free internet. I'm considering that instead.

Also considering so many people doing this Black Friday deal sign ups would congest their network for sure

Therefore I might skip this one.

20 weeks for $85 Cashback is too long not worth it

  • -1

Just switched from Exetel, didn't opt for the modem since I already had Exetel modem which is the same ZTE superloop is offering and I don't like eero modem.
Signed-up at 11:33 AM for 1Gbps FTTP and my service was activated at 1:30 PM same day. I didn't have to configure anything.

I just found it annoying that you are asked to provide current provider details and that they switch it for you canceling the previous service on your behalf. Which to be fair what I would eventually do but I thought you could have up to 4 active internet connections on different UNI ports of the NBN modem. It would be nice if they would ask.

    • They do? If you don't tick the transfer from current supplier (when you choose the one from the drop down) it would have activated on a different port

  • +2

Thanks, service active within the hour and received a cancellation notice from Aussie BB a few mins later. Live chat disabled CGNat without any issues. $105 cashback tracked through TopCashback as well!

  • +1

Called Superloop to cancel and was offered $85/m for 12 months on the 250 plan. Proceeded with the cancellation still..

    • Did you re-sign up for this deal? Worried that they might reject TCB cashback as I'm obviously just switching emails lol

      • Nah there is a 30 day cancellation notice so have to stay with for another 30 days.

        • I was thinking to give them the notice to end after my next billing period (31st) and then sign up on a new account at the end of this month as you can choose a month later as a start date

  • +1

How long did you guys have to wait on the live chat to disable cgnat? I've been stuck at estimated wait time of 2 minutes for over half an hour now.

edit: all good now, my chat wasn't working, called up and was already assigned to dynamic ip.

    • +1

After smashing my face on the bot trying to sell me a static IP about 5 minutes on the live chat window about 45 minutes ago. It did start at 2 minutes estimated wait and keep going up until it said 5. The tech disabled CGNAT pretty quick once I got a hold of one.

      • Really, you deal with the bot? the second I saw the bot, I choose to call. 5 mins all done.

  • When does this promo ends?

    • 8th December

      • Thanks, I will wait.

  • I have an existing service with them, and got rejected for the BF offer, so I asked if I could relocate the service to a new address, and they said on the call if it's a relocation you can get the BF offer (which surprised me) and they said it's because a relocation is considered a new service.

So potentially if they won't give you the offer, rather than churning, you can relocate, and relocate back….. Will be scheduling this in, later this week to see.

    • Can you elaborate what you/ they mean by they'll accept if you are relocating an existing service to a new address and how it will pan out-
will they actually move your current NBN plan to another property eg one that you own or to a relative's address, etc?
What's going to happen to/ will there be any internet at the first address?
And how soon can you relocate it back to first address?

      • +1

By the looks of things they treat relocations as a cancellation and new service. (I presume they get some bonus or incentive from NBN for it)
Rather than 'moving' your existing service.

So they allowed me to sign up with the Black Friday deal at the "new" address. (I used my parents address, both are FTTP, which allows more than 1 service). I then just scheduled their existing service to be cancelled the day after the Superloop service is to be activated (currently with Buddy).

So then I can just set up a new service at my own address.

As for how soon thereafter you can relocate back, I'm not entirely sure, but when "relocating" to my parents address they advised I can schedule it in 24 hours in advanced, so that may be the minimum amount of time.

  • +2

I churned last night, signed up and was connected within an hour. They also automatically cancelled my leaptel plan on top of that topcashback tracked the $105. This whole process couldn't go any smoother 😂

    • +1

+1 same experience. cash back is 20 weeks by the way.

    • Don't you need to wait for the cycling date? First time churning.

      • +1

Not with leaptel, others you may need 30 day notice.

    • same experience. hope to remember the 30 day notice next BF

  • Yep - long time Superloop customer - wrote them a great review when I joined …but now they refused to assist with these deals and agreed to my cancellation ultimatium within 30 seconds! - caught out by their 30 day notice.(my product review has gone from 5 to 1 star!)..- now moving to Spintel - good price for the 250 speed- $79 for 6 months then $89. see how we go with them!

    • -1

superloop cannot enforce this policy. TIO fixes it and they know it

  • Dumb question but seeing if anyone can help, after I switch over to superloop do I need to do anything to configure my router to the new provider?

    • would depend on your previous configurations, but most likely you won't have to do anything manually

    • Superloop uses DHCP on NBN connection. If your previous is the same no configuration needs to be changed. But if you are were using PPPoE and had to enter a password, then you need change to to Auto under DHCP for WAN on the router.

That said DHCP is less reliable than PPPoE.

  • CG-NAT means Paramount plus live sport (Aleague and Socceroos) keeps giving me a content not available error or says I'm on a VPN.
Funnily enough, I turn ON the VPN and it works. Go figure.
They've also upped their prices outside of the promo period (looks like most ISPs have) so I'll be churning away.

  • +2

Looks like a popular deal but after 3 days of outages (internal Superloop issue as confirmed by their technical support) with no ETA on resolution and what feels like no-care-factor (except very apologetic call center staff), I have switched over to DoDo which seems to be offering the best price for 100/20 connection. Switch over was done within 30 mins, and internet back up and running, and great speed.

The 30-day cancellation policy for Superloop is rediculous (make sure you are aware of that) but they agreed to waive in my circumsance.

    • +1

Yes Superloop is very poor when it comes to NBN issues. It's not worth the discount in the long term

I won't recommend them if you are working from home or have essential stuff rely on internet eg. Surveillance cameras. Also a hassle to disable CGNAT yes you can tell them to disable but YMMV depends who you talk and what reason you give

The 30 days billing notice is the worse thing ever

They don't answer emails and only phone calls

      • Exactly. It was unexpected to me to get disconnected from the current provider by Superloop way ahead of the scheduled activation date, which took my house offline and all cctv down while I am away for a week 🤬 never experienced this with any other providers before. The connection was always scheduled for a specific date. Didn't work with SL, even though I provided my preferred connection date. 🥴

        • What the!? you mean you told them connection date and still disconnect the wrong time
