CG-NAT works fine for most users. CG-NAT can break remote access to some home security cameras, some home automation products, Plex server, NAS, servers or if you want to host online P2P games. When you turn off CG-NAT you will be able to use remote access and host online P2P games again. Leave CG-NAT turned on if you don't do any of this.

If your home security cameras and automation products use a cloud server you will not be affected by CG-NAT.

You can get Carrier Grade NAT turned off for free if needed. Call up Superloop support or use the Superloop online chat on the Superloop website (red and black icon, bottom right).

$5/month is for a static IP address.

Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (CGNAT)
Where CGNAT is available, your IP address will default to using CGNAT, unless you specifically request to opt out of CGNAT, which may be approved by Superloop in its discretion. When opting out of CGNAT, a dynamic public IP address will be assigned to the service, however, you may request a static public IP address (at additional cost).

Static IP
A single Static IP address is available upon request for the additional monthly fee on all residential Superloop nbn plans.
Static IP $5 (inc. GST)

Cancelling Your Plan
You can cancel your Superloop nbn Home Broadband Service at any time by giving Superloop 30 days' notice.

Credit Card Surcharge
Services that are paid by Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express) incur a 1.0% transaction fee. You can pay by Direct Debit from your bank to avoid these fees.

  • Just signed up from Belong which we've been on for years (yes we've been paying lazy tax). Pricing had always been okay, but the last year or two it kept creeping up every 6-12 months. I got an email saying it was going to $85 for a 50/17 connection from next month… so 250/25 for $79 was a no brainer. I've set it to go through Monday so if there is any snags I'm not stuck without the internet for the F1!

  • Just signed up and got activated, all running smoothly. Only thing is why does the billing cycle show as "20 days left" even though I just signed up? Shouldn't it be 30 days left to represent a whole billing month?

    • Did the same for me. A couple of hours later it showed as 29. I already ended up paying early so I should be good till January.

      • Ah yep, looks like it just updated to 29 for me too. Cheers!

  • So if I have lights controlled via google home like tapo (sd card recording), I should call to opt out of CGNAT?

    • +2

      no

      • Care to elaborate? Sorry, new and dumb to the CGNAT. I'm remote access my Tapo camera and it mentioned in the description that it may be affected?

        • +1

Leave CG-NAT turned on if you can view the Tapo camera remotely using your mobile 4G or 5G signal.

Get CG-NAT turned off if you can't view the Tapo camera remotely using your mobile 4G or 5G signal. Once CG-NAT is turned off you can use remote access again.

  • Does Superloop churn on weekends?

    • +1

      Yep I did today

      • I churned mine this morning, still waiting for activation 90 minutes later….

        • Order the eero any chance? Mine was pending delivery until I requested go ahead

          • @scar4ace: Nah no eero. I'll try and chat with them.

            • @11112007: I called them and they said its up to NBN to do the switch over and it takes up to 2 days hahaha

        • I'm in activation loop after churning too, 3 + hours so far

          • @retnup: 6 hours for me.

            • @11112007: Thanks for the info re; the phone chats. Crazy that it takes them so long. I pulled the trigger impulsively to churn as quickly as possible to obtain this and assumed ABB would be the fastest, and like within 5 mins I was active on another Uni
Crazy to think that for whatever reason, its takes Superloop 48 hours when its evident that's not the case

              • +1

@retnup: Its most likely not enough resources on a weekend. $10 bucks says my connection goes live by 10AM tomorrow haha.

              • +1

@retnup: As predicted. My connection was just activated at 939AM. Haha.

                • @11112007: Nothing here for me
Portal says 'Information needed. Hold or rejected.'

                  • @retnup: Ah, better give them a ring!

                    • @11112007: I never get through, just put on hold forever
And chat agent went to investigate and then magically disappeared and i cant reconnect to chat

I used TopCashback and it tracked the $105 1000mb plan.
Only problem was when I signed up on my phone I didn't see where to input the promo code for black Friday.
I showed my friend and he said to checkout and it will show it, but it was the receipt page.
Spent hour on hold to talk to someone only to be told they will have a sales person call back, but since it's 10pm the office is now closed with no call.

Does anyone know if they can fix it up or will they cancel order and get me to reorder, which will cancel my tracked TopCashback.

I just checked on my tablet the superloop signing up page and it shows the whole details and promo to input together, while on the phone you have to press a icon to display the rest if the page to input the promo details which I didn't know.

I used my phone data mobile data connection because I have ad blocker on my router and didn't want to miss out on the tracking by using the tablet.

    Cheers ozbargainers

    • How long did it take for topcashback to track it? I signed up through that and about a day later it hasn't shown up on my account. No history or anything.
Yes I clicked the "Get up to $105 Cashback" button as shown on here: https://www.topcashback.com.au/superloop/ and signed up to Superloop through the same tab.

      • tracking was instant for me

        • Still nothing on my end… :( and I can't make a claim until 7 days.
Man this is not fair… instant for you guys but I get screwed?

          • @RocketToSpace: i turned off all ad blockers within the extension tab in chorme, only way to be sure, mine waas instant

            • @Roe Jogan: I made sure mine was disabled. I use Firefox.
I'll just wait out the 7 days and make a claim… seems it's all I can do.

If I'm not successful I'm staying away from these websites.

              • @RocketToSpace: disable is different to turning it off completely from the extension menu instead of allow site workaround

    • Did the same thing forgot the code! On call now with them. I hope they can still apply it.

      • How did you go?
I need to call them and resolve it.

      • Did you ever resolve this? I'm in the same boat and can't get anyone to help me from superloop.

    • Did you ever resolve this? I'm in the same boat and can't get anyone to help me from superloop.
Haven't had my cashback tracked though either so really didn't go great for me.

  • It took 6 minutes for email confirmation.

  • Switched from Swoop to Superloop. Took around 20min and I'm not connected.

    • Have you been connected yet?

  • Got cancelled without notice, had to wait in queue for 30 mins on phone as chat couldn't tell me why, then they said no BF offer for opticomm we can give u regular price ! No ty :)

    • -1

Uniti has recently increased price by $5 end of Aug, now another $15, which is ridiculous. Opticomm is so much more expensive compared to other network. Any idea which provider to churn to? I am looking at Exetel.

  • +1

Ty OP, happy days. Getting 900+ wifi speed consistency now, disposed my 3 mesh deco5 and replaced by this monster.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BR5S6MYX?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_f…

    Really doing the job well.

  • I've just switched over to Superloop from AGL. Do i need to contact AGL to cancel my old plan or will this happen automatically? Thank you!

    • No harm to contact them, make sure it's been cancelled. It was automatically cancelled from Leaptel when I connected to superloop, not sure other retailers.

  • Swapped from telstra with smart modem 3, worked, but speed is only staying at 300 with sometimes max 450, anyone know why? I cycle powered the nbn and router but nothing.

    • You may have to factory reset the Telstra SMG3 to remove the Telstra speed profile. What speed plan did you have with Telstra?

      Is that 300-450Mbps wired ethernet, on Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6?

  • Anyone know if the Eero6+ has mac filtering (white list vs black list). Or any reason I should not get it and buy something else?

  • Switched over last night, went completely painlessly, we didn't even notice any downtime. Unfortunately it seems my topcashback never tracked, not too sure what to do about that. I'll check their terms and conditions

  • Did anyone who cancelled and then reordered in wife’s/husbands/partners name get an email asking for proof of residency that the new user lives at the address?

I received that email from them today. Luckily my wife’s name is on all the utility docs

    • Yeah some providers do ask for proof from a different bill.

      • Yep, had to do this myself

  • I ordered 24 hours ago and still in "Order Submitted" stage. Do I need to nudge them?

    • Did you churn at the same address?

    • I'm the same

      • Call, send proof of address
I had to do this to complete the connection

      • Finally activated overnight about 72 hours later. I didn't have to do anything, but speed is crap 100mbps even though I signed up for Lightspeed plan (NBN 1000)

Already restarted NBN box and modem (TPlink VR1600V). Tested this speed on ethernet cable.

  • How long can connection be delayed for? I could sign up now but wouldn't want connection to begin until January.

  • Is it like porting a mobile phone plan & the cancellation is done automatically, or do i have to cancel my existing provider & coordinate the new install etc ?

    • +1

By default they just transfer your existing connection to themselves.
But you could choose to ask them to make it as a second connection if your location supports that. In this case you'd have to call them then you'd have to and cancel the old one yourself.
Also take a look at your current arrangement, see the contract details. You might have 30days notice to cancel in which case they might bill you for another month once you leave.

  • I am with another ISP that will bill me on 1 Dec for usage between 16/11 and 15/12. I plan to sign up to SL and ask them to migrate me over on 15/12. Is this the right way to do it?

  • Anything for current customers

  • +1

Switched from Leaptel 1000 $99 that was ending in 4 months to Superloop 1000, im on fttp.

didnt need the router, it only took 30 minutes to get the change active. Support call was instant and took a few minutes to turn CG Nat off.

    • Turning CG Nat off, in layman's terms, why is this a thing that I see so much off? What's the benefits of doing this? What does it do? Should everyone do this or only some with special needs and use cases?

      • +1

Only if you face issues hosting servers for cameras, Plex, streaming P2P, playing multiplayer games P2P connections. I know some games that require hosting and having friends connect have issues so I disabled it. I also use Moonlight/Steam to stream my PC games to my phone to play remotely sometimes.

        • Gotcha! This is helpful thank you. Any cons to disabling?

          • @retnup: CG-Nat is more beneficial for the ISP as it reserves more public IP addresses for them and allows them to monitor network traffic easier. As your public IP is shared around with others it also adds another layer security for you making it harder for attacks to happen - so that's the only thing.

      • +1

I answered this in the deal description.

  • I specifically clicked 9/12 as activation date but it's got switched over immediately. Not the usual problem but I would like to know if anyone else is experiencing this? I called them and they said they can't see a "specific date" therefore the immediate action (and start billing of course).

    • You churn from SL or someone else?

      • I was using Flip and paid till 2/12.

    • I had this issue, got AGL to request it back and Superloop reordered for the intended date.

  • +2

my 1000mb nbn is only maxing out at 300mb only. anyone one having issues?

    • Mee too, i am only getting 400 in 5g and 70 in 2.4. Canberra

      • i have AX1800 router i should be able to do 1200mb on 5ghz and 600mb on 2.4ghz

do i really need to buy a new router AX3000 or even an AX6000?

        • You won't get 1200Mbps on 5GHz and 600Mbps on 2.4GHz in the real world with an AX1800 router. Not all Wi-Fi devices can handle 1000Mbps either.

What is the model of your router?
Is that 300Mbps tested over Wi-Fi or wired ethernet?

          • @Twix: im not expecting 1200, but at least get to 1/2 or 3/4 of that, which would be 600mb - 900mb
i'm getting 300mb which is only 1/4 of max

            i have the ASUS RT-AX55
AX1800 Dual Band WiFi 6 (802.11ax) Router supporting MU-MIMO and OFDMA technology, with AiProtection Classic network security powered by Trend Micro™, compatible with ASUS AiMesh WiFi system

Ultra-fast Wi-Fi Speed – RT-AX55 supports 1024-QAM for dramatically faster wireless connections. With a total networking speed of about 1800Mbps — 574 Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and 1201 Mbps on the 5GHz band.

I tested over wifi 5ghz, all over the house next to, middle, and far away from router.

            • @Hugh G Rection: Yeah it's possible to get 550-670Mbps out of the RT-AX55 over 5GHz at close distance.

What model Wi-Fi device are you using?
              What website/server/app are you using?

              • +1

@Twix: i tried my iPhone, iPad, and iMac (cable)

                safari browser

                speedtest.net website and app

i will get a new router (AX6000) on monday with amazon and see if that changes anything.

                Up to 6000 Mbps (4804 Mbps + 1148 Mbps)

if this doesn't work, then it is superloop's fault and i need to find a new provider. lol

      • 400Mbps on 5GHz is normal for some routers. Very slow speeds on 2.4GHz is also normal so don't use it.

What is the model of your router?
What speeds do you get using wired ethernet?

  • -1

I have signed up today, pathetic speeds 400 mbps in 5ghz and 80 approx in 2.4ghz. So bad speeds. I have spoken to customer care 3 times. They are useless.

    • i did as well, they said my signal is fine. i have cat 6 cables. i have an AX1800 router and im guessing i will try a new router next. AX3000 or even a AX6000. i need to buy a good value one that is the best performance for the lowest price.

    • What is speed when testing via cable?

      • less, 240mb

        • Yeah that's not good. Try turning off NTD and router for a few minutes then turn back on and test.

          • @Whatisthatvelvet: yea, i did that. same result :(

going to buy a new router and hopefully that fixes the issue. i want to get an AX6000, but i also don't want to spend a fortune. if i can't get max speed with an AX6000, something is really really wrong. spoke to superloop 3 times already, and they said the connection is good. i changed cables, same result. now im going to change router and hopefully i can get the correct speed.

            • @Hugh G Rection: I signed up to this deal aswell about a week ago.
I originally had Deco M5s (could get max speed with wired but less than half with wifi) and grabbed this
It's a AX3000 wired speeds have remained full and wifi is up to about 700Mbps

Maybe get something from Amazon which you can return easily if needed

              • @Whatisthatvelvet: thanks mate, great idea. just bought one from amazon. won't be delivered until monday with prime :(

              • +1

@Whatisthatvelvet: i got an AX6000, it was suppose to come monday, but actually came in today. tested it out, im now getting 940mb through ethernet to iMac, and getting 820mb with 5ghz wifi.

what a huge difference. i thought my AX1800 was going to be more than sufficient, man i was wrong.

i am happy now, nothing wrong with my internet, it was my router.

  • For the people who want the same deal, someone said they got TPG to match this deal even the 12 months lock, if you are willing to change

  • I'm with Quokka. What a waste of time they are. Don't get anywhere near the advertised speeds. How would I go about moving away from them?

  • Guessing this is not applicable for new opticomm plans?

    • nbn only.

  • I tried to finalise the purchase but kept getting error message that the 'billing postcode is invalid' - has anyone had the same issue?

  • Has anyone had their TopCashback applied? I did everything to the T and it hasn't shown in app yet. First time using TCB so pretty disappointed. I filed a claim but it says it will take 3 months to be verified.

    • +1

mine also did not track, have week to apply for missing cb.

      • Same! I've now submitted a missing cashback too. Applied on the 23rd and now today is the 30th and still nothing.

I couldn't figure out the order number part so I just put in my reference number for the $89 I gave Superloop so I hope they accept that and give me my cashback.

  • +1

For those existing customers who put in your notice and reordered towards the end of your billing period, who did you put down as your current provider? Are you porting away before the new plan starts?

    • I put in 'Any Other'… as there is 1 day cross over I'm suspecting the new service will end up on a different port
