  • No system glitches today, I ported my number in-store and all verification codes came immediately and I could activate the Telstra eSIM directly.

Sales guy wasn't 100% firm on the details but I even saw during the signing-up process on the screen that it said $800 voucher and the guy was quick to point out that I will get the $1700 discount as advertised. Paid my 297+99 and hope to pick it up next week :)

    • Do you plan to cancel it or stay with the plan?

      • I will use the month I now paid for and then port out. Prefer to have some call mins to Europe included which this plan has not despite costing $99

  • Can it be stacked with $350 gift card on purchase of pixel xl pro deal?

  • I suspect I could’ve been banned from Telstra. Number is still in progress and I couldn’t even activate one of my Boost SIMs

    • Have U been charged the $99 fee?

      • Yes - just changed from Pending to Posted on my NAB account

        • How many times have you signed up and cancelled ?

          • @mmd: 7 within the last 2 months iirc

Okie so login via Boost is still fine and able to go to the inclusion data page. Still dunno and unexplained on the JB plan

            • +1

              @BargainsGrabber: 7 within 2 months. you're pushing it hey

            • @BargainsGrabber: how much $$$ have you saved doing these plans lol

              • @dichotomeme: A lot lol 😂 , all were for gifting (aka I bought heaps on behalf of my friends during the iPad deal)

                • @BargainsGrabber: I just found about this new thing, feel really dumb spenind 1.9k on new phones when I see ppl have been doing these and saving 700$ :( Will now wait for deals on new iphones as Im too far in the iphone ecosystem :(

                • @BargainsGrabber: What was the iPad deal BG? I need to get 2 for my kids for school next year.

                  • +1

@dockersrule: Sorry I missed your comment, any new notifications from this deal gets bogged down on any replies to any of the comments that I made

                    It was this deal previously

                    • +1

                      @BargainsGrabber: Thanks BG.

                    • @BargainsGrabber: Based on the previous deal, it seems that JB & Telstra clearly knows what is happening with these cancellations…I'm not complaining but why do they let it happen over and over again when obviously someone is losing money over this (or are they still making money from these?)

Guess as a smart consumers, we gotta strike on these opportunities

                      • +1

@evilhomura89: Well number of people signing up to these plans and staying would be much higher than ozbargainers using the bargains..

    • +1

I had no existing services and new account created. Mines still pending.

JB hi-fi told me 24-48 hours it could take.

      • +2

Same, just signed up with a new number and no existing services (had some prepaids many years ago). Stuck in "In Progress".

Told it's a Telstra problem and will need to wait for them to but it through before my pre order can be made.

      • Mine has been more than 48 hours 🙃

        • Have you escalated either on the app chat or in store?

          • @the69thhokage: I haven’t, all I did was just talked to the JB ppl in store

            • @BargainsGrabber: will you miss out on the deal if it doesn't activate?

              • @28kb: No, it is invoiced on the day the connect is done. The order just needs to show as Activated to get the gift card.
Worse case scenario if the order fails after (Highly unlikely) then there is a back of house that can add back in deals that have expired for times when the system fails.

                • @Mattycee: thanks rep

                • @Mattycee: Hi mattycee
I signed up on Fri night, but can't see the number in my Telstra app. I logged onto the JB hifi app and can see the number but it looks like i won't be charged the first month until 28/08 (Sim is not activated yet and can't seem any pending charge on my cc)

Should I wait or reach out to JB?

                  • @mmd: There have been lots of issues with the system in the last few days. Connections are taking hours and sometimes days to go active.
If you've not heard from the store is just follow them up to check..

As above as well if you sign up to a JB plan your number won't show on the My Telstra app and will only show on the JB Mobile app.

        • Mine just activated. Planning to go instore tomorrow to get the voucher and preorder sorted.

Is there anyone else that hates the icon colours on the Pixel 9 series?
Not a big deal, I know, but I'm really not a fan.

    • No

  • Thank you buddies. I have signed into postpaid plan and ordered obsidian pixel 9 pro xl. Would be helpful if someone can add the details steps to cancel the postpaid plan. Thanks

    • Did you get $350 gift card as well?

      • They said I can collect it when I collect the mobile

    • Simply port out to another network and plan will automatically be cancelled. Alternately you can cancel via chat or calling Telstra.

  • -2

I will keep the plan. Can I asked Telstra for monthly discount or more data or share data with other number?

    • You can try your luck depending on whether they want to retain you as their customers
For last year HN Optus deal, quite a few was offered 50% off the $69 monthly plan when they were cancelling their plan early

      • -1

But that is optus, a different company. I remember some people talked about $10 off, is that still the case?

  • Anyone know any good mobile buybackers? Other than WeBuyBack and Mobile Monster?

For some reason MM is offering a better price for working than As new….🤷‍♂️

  • Signed up today at Osborne Park WA. Still in progress. Just wondering did everyone else get a JB Hi Fi Sim rather than Telstra?
Confirmed 800 cancellation and he said to me best wait a week.

    • Mine is Telstra branded

    • Mine is JB branded.

    • One more for team JB.

    • JB sim here. Signed up today at Westfield Sydney, still in progress too.

Did you get your voucher or did you have to wait for the activation to come through before you can pre-order?

      • Have to wait for it to come through so I didn't reserve the phone yet :(

        • Same :(

        • Nothing has come through overnight for me unfortunately

    • JB sim

    • Successfully signed up at Joondalup store in WA. New number with Jbhifi Sim - service activated immediately. I was told that $350 gift card will be given on phone collection which may happen earlier than 22nd.

      • I thought it must be port in?

        • Nope, you can opt for a brand new number/service.

  • Obsidian or Hazel colour?

    • I went with Porcelain

  • What happens if you decide to change it to a smaller plan instead of canceling it? Still have to pay the 766$ fee?

    • +1

Yes. Read T’s and C’s. It clearly says if you cancel or switch to a lower plan……..

  • What price shows up on your receipt for this one? $149 or $1849?

Thinking of leaving the country soon so can claim GST refund.

    • +2

      Don’t read the comments

    • I believe if you do this you might also have to claim the voucher as income. But obviously this is not financial or legal advice and speak to a professional to confirm.

  • Can I cancel the plan as soon as the order is placed or I have to wait till I receive the device?

    • Up to you. Probs more risk cancelling it before getting the phone.

  • Just ordered mine, took 10 min easy. Hazel colour: )

  • Anyone had luck in cancelling and only pay the 800? Being told in store that repayment will be the 1700 voucher if you cancel.

    • Please went through all the comments above..

      • I read the comments. Was told by a manager at my local JB that it's since changed and is no longer the 800 but equivalent to the gift card. Why I asked

        • Click on the Critical information summary - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/pages/upfront-mobile-plans

        • Just signed up and the sheet I have says max voucher repayment fee is $800

          • @Phesto: Yep… as per all the other posts…

            • +1

@dockersrule: I think it's just some staff aren't knowledgeable or trying to discourage taking advantage of this. The staff where I just signed up didn't even know about the extra $350 gift card.

              • @Phesto: can any JB employees confirm whether they get a time sensitive commission on sign-up's? do people need to stay on, for example, 3 months for their commission to come through?

      • -3

What happens when I cancel my plan early?
You’ll need to repay Telstra for any vouchers you received when you purchased your plan. The Voucher Repayment Fee (if applicable) is pro-rated, equal to the total amount of the base voucher divided by 24 and multiplied by months (or part months) remaining in your plan.
        🤔

        • Do these terms kill this deal?

          • +1

@PR0r: Read the comments. This has been questioned so many times over the past week and so many people have already answered this.

  • Anyone reconsidering the XL for the regular pro? Purely on physical size?

    • +1

No, I prefer a larger than smaller phone

    • +1

I was planning on getting the Pro but I think I may give into the FOMO and get the XL. I'm gonna go check out a display model first to be completely sure.

    • I was a bit worried with the XL moniker but I'm currently on S10 5g and it's pretty much the same size

      • yeah they are roughly the same in dimensions. p9 XL just a lil taller whereas the s10 5g just a lil wider.

the 2019 s10 5g has a bigger screen though cos of the aspect ratio.

the s10 5g was one of the biggest phones back then so you will be primed to accept any of the big phones available today

  • Is there anyway to be able to keep your existing number?

I’m on a $69 Jb mobile plan and need to keep my number

If I go on the $99 plan I won’t be able to keep the number will I? What would happen to the existing plan and number then

    • You can get a new number all good no need to port

      • Tbf I need to keep my number it’s work and personal related

        • Cant you get a new number to secure this phone from the deal then cancel the $99 plan and finally use your existing number/Sim card on the new phone?

          • @beOson: yup, that was what I wrote, no need to port lol

  • Just ordered no need for port in. Easy process, new mumbers are quicker to activate

  • +2

Thanks OP just signed up. I was refused the last year P8P Havey Norman deal due to being a visa holder. No such problem with JB if anyone on a visa is considering this deal.

  • -1

Anyone had any luck getting a similar discount (and keeping the $350 gift card), if swapping to the Fold?

  • Gees there was a line of 5 people signing up for this at my local JB Hi Fi, the sales staff were super helpful and sounded like he was aware of OzB.

Mentioned of course you know what the cancellation fee is lol, they get commission on the sale so he was happy to help.

Just in time for the 3G shutoff with my Poco F3

    • Wow I was the first at my jb and that was yesterday

  • Has anyone received their phone receipt in their email or SMS as well as a physical copy?

    • +1

I received only physical copy. They said I will get a sms when the order is ready to collect

    • +1

Physical only because it's technically a purchase order and not a tax receipt. It gets finalised on pickup.

You'll see on your receipt you got that you purchased "0 items" and there's no tax value.

  • Can someone please confirm if we can cancel the postpaid plan via JB Hi fi app? I tried searching but I could not find any such option in the app. Thanks

    • +2

You can only cancel it via the live chat on the JB app

      • +1

Another way to cancel is to buy a $2 prepaid SIM of another Telco and port out. Easiest way to cancel.

  • Is there a limit as to how many times you can do this deal? Thinking of upgrading both my parents and I to Google Pixel ecosystem
