  • Thanks for sharing OP
So I can buy 2x $2000 variable load in one go and I'll get the full 40,000 EDR points?

    • +8

I believe variable load card max is $500

      • -1

Thanks, yeah have since looked and it appears not much for variable load available.
I want Good Guys , but that's going to be very annoying collecting 40 cards 🥴 at $100 max

        • I did 100x cards as there was a daily 2 card max on the $100 cards so made up the difference in $50 cards. Totalled $6k cards I used at the Good Guys on appliances.

          • @theraque: You belong here 🙏
I've done $4k a few times, guess I'm ready to troll the poor cashier another time 😂

            • @cook99: and here I wondered how on earth I was going to get 350K QFF points on time 🤣

  • How do we transfer to Uber team?

    • +1

You go to the gift card website and enter the number and it lets you choose to change the voucher to various stores, then they email a new code for that voucher.

      • how long it takes to receive the uber code ?

  • Noice. Thanks OP.

  • Any offers for luxuryescapes?

  • How many gift cards can be used at The Good Guys ?

    • Many

It depends on how you want to shop at TGG.

      In-store

My understanding is that there is no payment card redemption limit in the checkouts. Someone redeemed 100 TCN gift cards in one transaction a few weeks ago. However, splitting payments between multiple payment cards is at the discretion of the staff member serving you, so if the staff member gets cranky at you for wanting to use 100x TCN gift cards in one transaction and refuses to help you, you are kinda stuck.

I will note that things may get tricky if you are trying to purchase an agency product (e.g. Miele dishwasher, Asko washing machine), as payment for those are usually made directly to the manufacturer, rather than TGG themselves. I am not sure whether the physical TGG store you go to will know or be willing to accept TCN gift cards as a payment method for agency products.

      Online

The TGG website does not directly accept TCN gift cards as a payment method, as the TCN gift cards in this deal do not support online transactions.

However, you can go to the TCN website and request to exchange the full or partial balance of your TCN gift card for a digital TGG gift card. Keep in mind you can only redeem a maximum of two TGG gift cards + one other accepted payment method (e.g. PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, AMEX) in one transaction. Additionally, if you were going to use these TGG gift cards to make a purchase from the regular TGG website to take advantage of a cashback deal via Cashrewards or ShopBack (as an example), this would make very little sense, because you would not earn cashback on any portion of a transaction paid for with TGG gift cards.

      Over the phone

The phone sales team may be able to help you redeem multiple TGG gift cards to pay for an order over the phone and then either have it delivered to you, or make it available for pick up from a physical TGG store. If you were interested in this option, I would suggest you call the phone sales team and see if they can help you, as they have offered to help others in the past.

      TGG Commercial

Just in case the item(s) you were wanting were available on TGG Commercial and you wanted to take advantage of this, things get a little tricker.

TGG’s gift card policy states you cannot use gift cards to pay for items from TGG Commercial, and there is no option to redeem TGG gift cards on the TGG Commercial website. There used to be a workaround where you contact TGG Commercial to have a sales order generated and sent to a physical TGG store for payment, but it looks like TGG Commercial does not do this anymore. However, you could still ask someone at a physical TGG store to see whether they would be happy to price match TGG Commercial.

    • My record was 100 cards totalling $6k. The secret is going in on a Monday/Tuesday at opening time. Have the cards pre-scratched and ready to use. Took me about 35 min swiping the cards and putting the pins in. They may push back if they're in a mood. I went to another GG store as a result so they missed out on the sale at that branch. The store policy is that they can redeem an unlimited number of cards and a manager will back you if you press them.

      • How many km of long receipt at the end?

  • +1

    No love for airbnb still

    • Probably sick of the mad rush at store open for people buying them all up and having everyone complain there are none left for a week

    • +3

Airbnb are a rip now days

Better off finding something on booking.com cheaper

      • I have to make bookings for work purposes so not behd

        • +2

Issue with Airbnb is the host can cancel last minute while stuff on booking.com more choice

          • +1

@Poor Ass: Do you still need to scan the room for camera bugs or has Airbnb gotten serious with voyers.

            • +1

@turtlesinmypants: They can watch my hairy butt all they want

            • @turtlesinmypants: what ya talking about they always have voyeurs

nah just 2 times a day before the host said the previous renters trash the place so it's less stable when you got a busy schedule

but booking.com more choice and do apartments and houses too

  • For TCN pampers - can be used for dinner as well at Hotel?

    • +1

Failed for me. I assume the hotel restaurant MCC where it failed wasn't one that worked with the Pamper card.

But has worked for me by charging the dinner to your room, then use the Pamper card to pay at reception on checkout (where the hotel reception MCC worked with the Pamper card).

  • No Nandos?

    • +1

Nando's does not participate in the TCN multi-retailer gift card scheme.

  • I am wondering that 2 cards per day per member, is every member only allowed to purchase 2 cards in total or 2 cards every day in total?

  • Anyone know if the gift card can be use at JB to get Google Play Gift card?

    • +3

Not sure about Google Play, but I've used the Ultimate gift cards many times at JB to buy Playstation store gift cards. So I assume the Google ones would also be OK?

      • +1

They are likely asking, because it is against the JB Hi-Fi gift card policy to use gift cards including the JB Hi-Fi brand (e.g. these TCN gift cards, Ultimate gift cards and JB Hi-Fi gift cards) as a payment method for any gift cards.

        14. Gift Cards and Third Party JB Hi-Fi Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase another JB Hi-Fi branded Gift Card or another third party gift card e.g. Steam Gift Cards, Xbox Gift Cards, Google Play Cards.

It is also against the terms and conditions of TCN gift cards:

        8. The Card cannot be used towards the purchase of any other gift cards or vouchers at participating merchants.

… and it is also against the terms and conditions of Ultimate gift cards:

        3. Cards cannot be used towards the purchase of any other gift cards or vouchers at participating merchants.

It is up to JB Hi-Fi to enforce this, so if their checkouts have been updated to automatically block this (or a staff member demands to see your payment method before allowing the purchase to go ahead), then there would be issues.

        • Hmm perhaps. I always just do it through the JB website and it works fine. Perhaps because the Ultimate gift cards have to get put through as credit cards on the website, maybe it can't tell the difference between that and a proper credit card?

          • @AngusD: A few months ago, I tried to purchase a JB Hi-Fi gift card on the JB Hi-Fi website using an Ultimate gift card, but JB Hi-Fi cancelled my orders (and I tried adding the card details directly into the online checkout, then tried going through Apple Pay. 1

For other gift cards sold on the JB Hi-Fi website, JB Hi-Fi probably have not implemented the same checks as when you are purchasing JB Hi-Fi gift cards (but who knows).

Also, it would be incredibly easy for JB Hi-Fi (or more accurately, its payment gateway) to tell the difference between an Ultimate gift card and another type of Visa card, because all it would need to do is check the BIN (bank identification number) on the card being used.

            1. If you were wondering why I was doing this instead of using the exchange portal, it was because I had $10 left on the Ultimate gift card and wanted to use it and a few other gift cards on the JB Hi-Fi website for an overnight-only Perks deal. However, the Ultimate gift card exchange portal had a $20 minimum for JB Hi-Fi gift cards.

            • +1

@WookieMonster: Ah well, I guess they either don't know or don't care. It's a bunch of stuff I'm buying from JB that I otherwise would not be buying from JB.

              • @AngusD: I’m sure they don’t care if you buy it from them or not.

  • What is the smallest amount you can load on a variable card?

    • +1

Should be $20 for TCN Teen and TCN Deluxe?

    • +2

I checked one Woolworths earlier today and could only find the TCN Active, TCN Deluxe and TCN Teen gift cards in a variable load denomination ($20-$500).

  • I assume this doesn't stack with the 10% off monthly shop?

  • Anyone know when the visa gift cards are coming?

  • To clarify, as part of variable can you have Teen card loaded with amount of $30?

  • Thanks op! Got the TCN Deluxe variable load card and loaded it with 500$. 5k EDR points credited within 1 hour.

    • +3

No, it should be 10k pts.

  • anyone tried using the coles mastercard to buy these?

  • Was not able to pay with tcn eftpos gift cards.

    • What was the error message?

      • -1

        Yep.

    • I had the same error today - was these ones you bought today?

    • Best to wait for one day.

  • Anyone knows if i can use multiple-gift cards in one transaction at Cotton-on? @WookieMonster

Apparently, while converting TCN to Cotton-on, I can't enter the amount myself and must select from pre defined values of 20, 30 100 etc.

    • +1

No idea, as I have only ever used one gift card at Cotton On (and that was in-store).

      • +1

Thanks, I managed to use 3 last night, online rep said that you can't but apparently he didn't know about it :)

  • +2

Thanks OP, stacked up a few. For anyone interested, I tried using rewards dollars to pay partly, redeeming the 10% from monthly membership offer as well as the Woolies insurance 10%. None were allowed.
The rewards points/dollars were added within 5 min on the account. Cheers!!

  • Thanks OP.
I purchased an Active variable load for $500. The bottom of the WW receipt says you collected 10000 rewards points, so no delay. App shows $50 rewards dollars waiting to be spent.

  • Is it only the $100 him and her gift cards applicable to this and not the $30 or $50 cards?

    • it should work on $30 and $50 except for Teen.
you can confirm the bonus points before payment on self checkout to be sure.

  • Can you stack the 10% monthly mobile discount to purchase the gift cards?

  • can i use the cinema gift card as payment through event or hoyts websites?

  • -3

If you pay with a credit card will you get charged the cash forward fee?

I’m not sure whether the banks caught on. Last year, I paid with a credit card and didn’t get charged the fee.. not sure if its changed this time around. Does anyone know or has tested it?

    • +3

      No.

Woolworths should report your in-store purchase as a supermarket purchase (i.e. they should report MCC 5411). AFAIK, Woolworths also does not report the items you have purchased in the transaction information shared with your credit card issuer, so your credit card issuer would not be able to tell whether your $400 purchase at Woolworths today (as an example) was for groceries or for a gift card.

The same advice would apply for Coles (in-store), ALDI, BIG W (in-store), Kmart (in-store), Target (in-store) and JB Hi-Fi (in-store), as a few examples.

If you were purchasing a gift card from Australia Post (in-store), it would depend on how your credit card issuer treats transactions at the post office, especially since a Post Billpay transaction in-store should report the same information as a purchase of a gift card in-store, or a purchase of a postage stamp in-store.

When it comes to purchases of gift cards online, that is a completely different story altogether, but I digress. :)

  • Be careful to confirm the brand of card you pick up. They have TCN and Ultimate gift cards and you only get points on one of them. I purchased a Ultimate for Teens thinking I'd get the 20x points but no points showed up. The staff said it might take time to load so I didn't think too much more about it. 2 days later I still see no points so wondering what has happened. Looking closer for the 3rd time I realised the difference. The misleading part of this is that neither card clearly states the brand of the card!

    • +1

Yes keep your eyes wide open to check if you are getting a TCN or an Ultimate!

    • Yep you always have to be careful and check the back to make sure you have the right network!

FWIW I've found Everyday Reward points credit instantaneously especially at self serve check out since it prompts you on screen to say how many you earnt/converted before you've even finished.

    • The Ultimate gift cards literally say “the ultimate gift for (card type)” on the packaging.
