YouTube Premium Monthly Subscription: TRY ₺79.99 (~A$3.58) / INR ₹149 (~A$2.69), No VPN Required

2635

Hey Everyone!

I know there are a lot of ways to get YouTube Premium, but currently some of these methods are only available on iOS or require VPN. So, I thought I’d share a method I used recently to get YouTube Premium for Android users (or anyone else looking for a good deal). Please be gentle this is my first time posting something like this. I just spent hours on how to format on Oz :p

EDIT: Hey everyone, based on many comments below, it seems this method no longer works as it used to. It might work initially, but later on, YouTube seems to be asking users to update their payment details to match the country they've selected, like India. It works for a while, but eventually, they prompt you to change it. Personally, I haven’t been contacted yet, even after more than a month. Some people are still having success using the iOS method with a Turkey Apple/iOS account. (Reddit)

As the mods mentioned below, depending on feedback, I’ll consider taking this post down. Feel free to let me know your thoughts! :)

How to Get YouTube Premium with Geo-price (Android/Global Method)

Step 1: Set Up a New Google Account

  1. Create a new Google account.
  2. Once it’s created, click on the profile icon in the top right corner and select “Manage your Google account”.
  3. Go here Google Personal info link
  4. Look for a random address in India or Turkey. You can use any address generator online, or search for one.
  5. Make sure the address is set as India or Turkey in the Google payment center link
    — Important: When entering payment details, ensure you use an India or Turkey address. (Comm bank worked, assuming others would work too)

Step 2: Change Country Settings in Google Play Store

  1. Switch to phone and open the Google Play Store app.
  2. Tap the profile icon in the top right corner, then go to Settings > General > Account and device preferences.
  3. Make sure the "Country and profiles" setting is set to India or Turkey this is important for the next step.

Step 3: Subscribe to YouTube Premium

  1. Open YouTube either in the app or through Google Chrome (Note: it might not work on PC without a VPN).
  2. In the YouTube app, tap the profile icon in the bottom right corner and select "Get YouTube Premium”.
  3. Choose the payment option in Indian Rupees (INR) or Turkish Lira (TRY) to pay for your subscription at a discounted rate.
  4. Youtube premium

Youtube Plan AUD $ INR ₹ AUD$ Conversion
Individual $16.99 ₹149 $2.69 AUD
Family $32.99 ₹299 $5.39 AUD
Student $10.49 ₹89 $1.60 AUD
Annual $139.99 ₹1489 $26.84 AUD
Youtube Plan AUD $ TRY ₺ AUD$ Conversion
Individual $16.99 ₺79.99 $3.54 AUD
Family $32.99 ₺159.99 $7.08 AUD
Student $10.49 ₺52.99 $2.35 AUD
Annual $139.99 ₺N/A $N/A

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • If you're having trouble, you can try using the app “Fake GPS Location” by Lexa (available on the Google Play Store). I haven’t played around with it, but it kind of helped me for me on one of my accounts.
  • Alternatively, you might need to use a VPN to set the country correctly.

Moderator's Note

We are aware of users commenting that a local form of payment and/or a VPN is required to purchase the subscription. We are also aware that YouTube is cracking down on non-residential subscriptions and forcing subscribers to change to Australian subscriptions after 1 month. We will leave this deal post up to let users decide for themselves whether it is worth the time and effort to attempt this procedure. We encourage you to discuss your experiences and to vote accordingly.

User Potatohead82 has reported success using an alternative procedure which requires a VPN and a WISE card.

  • I still got a Turk payment profile (google ) but card on file can't be verified. Anyone tried using Turk gift cards or not worth it? Could try a month.

  • +2

They are definitely making it more of a challenge to pay non-AU prices. My Turkish YT Premium sub was due to expire 21 Dec, as I got the email saying I needed to update to a local payment method. I spend much of the year in Vietnam, and have just renewed the subscription and 79K VND (plus VAT), so $5.20 AUD approx. It wouldn't accept Revolut MC as a payment method, but luckily I have a local bank account and VISA debit card, so all sorted (for now…)

    • +1

$5-10 for non-family is what it should cost, then no one would think twice about paying it.

Funny story, set up all the Google and Android alternatives then my family member decided they need premium so they just bought and I'm in the family group instead, haha.

    • Hmmm, thanks for the reminder. We actually have a Thai bank account, hopefully it is still active, and might try the Thai debit card. Good idea.

    • I'm in a similar situation myself. Do you mind letting me know the process that you used to change the region from Turkey to Vietnam? I also have a local Vietnamese bank account as well.

  • My TRY subscription seems still working, got new charge today $5.35

  • I changed to Wise card, seems to work for now…

    • wise card for india sub?

      • for Turkey

    • My wise card worked fine for turkey too

      • Hey mate I'm a newbie with wise. Just wondering if you just transfered Lira into Wise card and just use the card details onto YouTube? It's still saying I need payment method from billing country.

    • Do you need to have Turkey's currency on your Wise?

      • I left it as AUD, it worked. But who knows for next month !

  • It's December 5th. Anybody loose access or get another message saying to update form of payment ?

  • Hi all my payment keeps failing? Using Indian issued visa credit card and it fails after entering the OTP code? Any idea? Changing from Turkey.. thanks

  • Is there any way to get around having to provide a phone number to receive a code before finalising account creation?

  • Does the new account that is created under India/Turkey have to be a part of the family account? I guess it has to be the family manager?

  • +1

Money taken out yesterday for me. Although the email warning did say that 12th December is the deadline… so will see

    • Mine did that and then renewed with a new email warning with a new deadline date but it was around 20 days, not the full month

  • +1

Mine is not renewing on the 28th. Email says they require a form of payment based in Turkey. Will have a suss to find out if it can be gift cards etc

  • +4

    Just received

Your YouTube Premium membership will not renew automatically and you’ll lose your YouTube Premium membership benefits on Dec 28, 2024. YouTube Premium memberships based in Turkey require a form of payment issued in Turkey.

  • I've got a Pakistan sub. I had the usual email that everyone else received (received email a couple of weeks ago)but the payment seems to have still gone thru yesterday, (due date was the 5th) and everything seems ok. Payment is stuck on "pending" as of today but YT premium is still working. So don't lose hope completely!

    • Did the payment go thru?

      • +1

It actually did! No longer marked as pending, its gone thru. On a NAB debit card. Not sure how I managed to get away with it. Maybe Pakistan is still temporarily ok? No idea.

        • That's good news hopefully Mine does as well

          • @chris666: All the best Chris!

            • @HappyPants: Yours still working?

              • +1

@chris666: Yep, it really is. Without a hiccup. Got the standard email. Never changed my payment details. Left all as it was. Maybe Pakistan is ok? I think if it goes thru again on the 5/6th Jan, (when my next payment is due, then maybe it's really time to get excited about Pakistan. 🤷🏻‍♂️

                • @HappyPants: I got this email today:

                  Hi XXXX,

Your YouTube Premium membership will not renew automatically and you’ll lose your YouTube Premium membership benefits on Jan 11, 2025. YouTube Premium memberships based in Pakistan require a form of payment issued in Pakistan.

If you want to keep your benefits, it’s easy to restart your membership.

Also, when I got into YouTube and go to my profile > Purchases and memberships …… I can see that it now shows : "Benefits end: 11 Jan 2025"

                • @HappyPants: Looks like mine went through fine as well says Jan 15 now in subscriptions

                  • @chris666: When you go to YouTube and go to my profile > Purchases and memberships ——— does it show that it will renew after Jan 15, or does it show Benefits End like it does with mine?

                    • @proudwanderer: Mine says renew

                      • @chris666: Mine doesn't unfortunately.

On 15 November, I received the standard email like everyone else saying my premium will end on 12 December.

But then on 11 December, the payment went through for another month of premium.

Then on 13 December, I got the email I posted above saying my premium will NOT renew and will end on Jan 11. I then went into my YouTube settings to check - and sure enough It says my benefits will end, and there's a "Renew" button there.

When I click the "Renew" button, it presents me with the Aussie prices.

                        I'm with Pakistan btw.

I guess I could possibly try to VPN to Pakistan and then click the "Renew" button - not sure if that will work, but I guess not.

What credit card are you using? I am using CBA Ultimate (no international fee).

                        • @proudwanderer: I'm in exactly the same boat!

                        • @proudwanderer: Using nab… I might get that email in a few days then as mine was only Dec 15 now Jan 15

                          • +1

@chris666: I might try the method of setting up an Indian Apple ID and buying Indian Apple gift cards via India Amazon and then subscribing via iOS. But I'll have to wait until after my current one expires (11Jan).

I think that method has a better chance since no credit card details have been provided.

Although I guess they can still check IP addresses - particularly during usage.

  • Mine will expire from Turkey on the 21st December

Can get the app to appear in turkey currency but none of my cards work…

revolut card, Wise and all aussie cards are a no go

    Does this work?

    https://www.ininal.com/

I think this game is over and google has won

    • The Ininal method works well. I wrote a step by step guide on a previous comment to this thread.

  • I change mine from. Revolute to wise and it worked. They did deduct the TRY but after week later got the same email, billing address don't match Card.

  • +6

Just spent a fair bit of time trying to get Wise to play ball on my Turkish account. Kept getting rejected.

Ended up joining as a Papua New Guinea Wantok - $8.99USD/month for family, not much in the way of location checking - just had to use NordVPN.

    • What payment method did you use ?

    • did you join the new region on the existing account?

      • Just used my CBA credit card.

I literally just joined Nord's PNG node, then signed up through the YouTube music app. Gave the physical address of a lawyers office in the Moresby CBD.

    • wantok???

    • The PNG method worked perfectly for me. Big thanks to Senorclean! No need to mess with Turgame or create a new Google account. I just used my existing Indonesian YouTube Premium, which was about to be canceled because my payment method no longer matched the region.

      1. Connected to the Port Moresby (PNG) server with NordVPN.
      2. Logged into my usual YouTube account through YouTube Music.
      3. Clicked on Memberships and found the USD $8.99/month family membership option.
      4. Used a virtual credit card from Wise.
      5. Inputted a random address from https://www.bestrandoms.com/random-address-in-pg

It sure beats paying the standard AUD $40/month!

      • found the USD $8.99/month family membership option.

Still too expensive compare with what we have before.

  • Even though it said to update my payment I got billed today and have another month
This is my main google account
    Could they ban my account?

    • They're not gonna do bans, just eliminate your options of getting cheap premium unless you resort to using the alternative apps.
Think you get one more month after they send out email about using a local payment method then the subscription is cancelled.

  • +1

On the list of countries Croatia didnt list as needing payment verification. I can not remember the price but it was cheap

So I moved to Croatia and today I got billed "Premium London GBR" $24.16 AUD. Why England? WTF google.

  • +2

Tried PNG- its confusing with actual address and legal address. Now it says it will bill my $9us ~ $14au for family per month.
Not sure why i gave usd when vpn to png and gave a png address.

Anyways $14au for family is ok for a while

    • Foreign exchange in PNG is very limited / complex - I'm sure it's much easier for Google to take USD.

This could be a good thing for us..

  • Ok, no email yet from youtube about the payment method with today being the deadline in their email. I did change from revolut to wise… so not sure if it worked

    • Argh got the dreaded email.

Time to look for a solution

      • I did the same. Did you find a solution?

  • +2

For those that signed up to Spotify Philippines all those years ago via a Paypal Philippines account, you can use that as a payment method to subscribe to YouTube PH without VPN or gift cards.

    • I wonder if the same could be done for Netflix…

    • Thank you for informing us of this. I still have the paypal philippines account. Might try it once they have stopped my argentina account.

Funnily today is supposed to be the day the argentina premium ends, but they are still charging my card.

      • I got charged on Nigerian YT for a month and then got swept a week later, so chances are this is going to happen to you.

  • Pack it up boys, we're cooked:
You can only change your Google Play country or region annually. After you initially set up or change your Google Play country or region, you must wait 12 months before you can make another change.
To set up a new country or region, you must be in that location and have a payment method from the new country or region.
If you’re a member of a Google Family group, you can’t change your Google Play country or region.

    • Pretty sure that's different - it's about the region of the apps in google play store.

      • No, it's the country change step in the instructions.

  • received:
Premium memberships based in Argentina require a form of payment issued in Argentina.
cannot get it processed any more

  • Someone posted that they were able to open a Turkish bank account and get a debit card for payment in one of the OzBargain threads. Can’t seem to find it right now… anyone have any luck?

    • Find my comment on this thread, currently on page 4, with a step by step guide, it works

      • How long did it take them to verify your account?

        • A day or so

          • @liongalahad: Been trying to sign up to Ininal for weeks now. Always getting errors that details incorrect. Their support is in Turkish only as well.

            • @zerokas: Sorry can't really help with that, personally I had no issues so not sure what you're doing wrong.

              • +1

@liongalahad: Wrote to customer support and they replied that my account has been already set up and I just need to reset the password to get access. Worked like a charm! Back on the Türkiye train! 🎉

  • Anyone know if you can transfer an existing accounts playlists etc To this thanks.

  • I'd appreciate if someone could help me with the family setup. I created a new account as per the OP, but I can't seem to add my AU account to the family. When I click on join family, I get an error message saying that my AU account isn't in the same country as the family owner (new account). I've tried remove payment methods from my AU account and created a new payment profile with same Indian address as the family owner account I keep getting the same message. Do I need to follow a different process?

    • You needed to add the family members before signing up to youtube premium

  • Deleted all my payment profiles, since didn't work anymore.

  • mine gone back to standard today after a few warnings

  • +1

Times up for me. Changed to smarttube on fire stick. No complaints.

  • Your YouTube Premium membership will not renew automatically and you’ll lose your YouTube Premium membership benefits on Jan 5, 2025. YouTube Premium memberships based in Turkey require a form of payment issued in Turkey.

    • I’ve got the Turkey debit card all sorted and funded. Just need help resubscribing using a VPN that works for Turkey.. seems like they blocked all the popular ones. Have tried PureVPN, WindScribe, Getflix, Speedify, etc

      • try Nord VPN or Express VPN

      • Avast Secureline seems to be working.

        • No luck with Avast, when did you try it last?

      • All my attempts say not available

        • Did you try Nord and Express VPN?

          • @Moo Deng: got it working with indian iOS account and amazon India iTunes credits

            happy days

            • @Wiadro: Trying to avoid that now since I’ve already gone to the trouble of setting up the Turkish virtual debit card and topping it up.

            • @Wiadro: I heard it may work for a short period of time and will get cancel again.

              • @superforever: will report back, i don't use the manager's account, only the shared accounts

  • Have heard VPN Unlimited might work? Anyone try that recently?

  • +3

I was also one of the many with the dreaded email.

I have since followed this guide and now using YouTube revanced. Has a few more tools in it too for removing sponsored ads within videos, intros etc.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/revancedapp/comments/159zbb6/guide_…

I haven't tried it yet but have also seen YouTube SmartTube for TV's

    • +1

I just did this. Maked sure to only download from GitHub to avoid the spyware clone versions.
      Works like a charm.
We Chromecast to the tv from YouTube when needed this works also.
You need to disable auto update for the YouTube app before you install the new patched one.

      • +2

Yup, once you go revanced you never go back, those with pixels or phones that make you unable to uninstall youtube, disable it in settings.

Follow the reddit instructions and only download GitHub files, albeit the YouTube APK you need to download from a website that has an APK.

It takes 5 minutes to follow the instructions, once you understand it and need to update the YouTube APK, it takes 1-2 minutes.

  • +3

I moved to the Amazon gift card way of doing this and had no issues since.
It’s been posted in the forums just search for it, you create an Indian Apple ID and link it to Amazon and purchase cards there to use as credit to pay for yt.

    • Does this method require an apple device ? The posts I have ffound only seem to work if you have an apple device.

      • @Ryxxi:That's only for subscribing via Apple and paying via using ApplePayID as noted Here.

      • I use my Apple device but you might be able to somehow do it via Apple Store app? The idea is your Apple account is international therefore doesn’t get flagged by the mixed payment methods.

    • Mind if you share the forum link?

  • +2

Shows over peeps. I just switched to Brave Browser on PC and happy so far. Rarely see an ad.

  • anyone tried it today and worked?
