Hey Everyone!
I know there are a lot of ways to get YouTube Premium, but currently some of these methods are only available on iOS or require VPN. So, I thought I’d share a method I used recently to get YouTube Premium for Android users (or anyone else looking for a good deal). Please be gentle this is my first time posting something like this. I just spent hours on how to format on Oz :p
EDIT: Hey everyone, based on many comments below, it seems this method no longer works as it used to. It might work initially, but later on, YouTube seems to be asking users to update their payment details to match the country they've selected, like India. It works for a while, but eventually, they prompt you to change it. Personally, I haven’t been contacted yet, even after more than a month. Some people are still having success using the iOS method with a Turkey Apple/iOS account. (Reddit)
As the mods mentioned below, depending on feedback, I’ll consider taking this post down. Feel free to let me know your thoughts! :)
How to Get YouTube Premium with Geo-price (Android/Global Method)
Step 1: Set Up a New Google Account
- Create a new Google account.
- Once it’s created, click on the profile icon in the top right corner and select “Manage your Google account”.
- Go here Google Personal info link
- Look for a random address in India or Turkey. You can use any address generator online, or search for one.
- Make sure the address is set as India or Turkey in the Google payment center link
— Important: When entering payment details, ensure you use an India or Turkey address. (Comm bank worked, assuming others would work too)
Step 2: Change Country Settings in Google Play Store
- Switch to phone and open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap the profile icon in the top right corner, then go to Settings > General > Account and device preferences.
- Make sure the "Country and profiles" setting is set to India or Turkey this is important for the next step.
Step 3: Subscribe to YouTube Premium
- Open YouTube either in the app or through Google Chrome (Note: it might not work on PC without a VPN).
- In the YouTube app, tap the profile icon in the bottom right corner and select "Get YouTube Premium”.
- Choose the payment option in Indian Rupees (INR) or Turkish Lira (TRY) to pay for your subscription at a discounted rate.

Troubleshooting Tips:
- If you're having trouble, you can try using the app “Fake GPS Location” by Lexa (available on the Google Play Store). I haven’t played around with it, but it kind of helped me for me on one of my accounts.
- Alternatively, you might need to use a VPN to set the country correctly.

Moderator's Note
We are aware of users commenting that a local form of payment and/or a VPN is required to purchase the subscription. We are also aware that YouTube is cracking down on non-residential subscriptions and forcing subscribers to change to Australian subscriptions after 1 month. We will leave this deal post up to let users decide for themselves whether it is worth the time and effort to attempt this procedure. We encourage you to discuss your experiences and to vote accordingly.
User Potatohead82 has reported success using an alternative procedure which requires a VPN and a WISE card.
As others have mentioned, this method no longer works reliably (if it works for you, then you win the OzBargain lotto) as Google is cracking down on these loopholes by requiring payments from the issuing country. The only reliable way to not pay ridiculous Australian prices is to (sigh) pay the Apple tax and use gift cards to subscribe into YouTube premium.
I did this a few days ago, but quick steps on how I did it was -
Note: If you want to sign up for Family (around AUD$9 per month), you probably want to set up your Google family first before signing up, because whoever joins the family will need to have the same payment profile as the owner of the subscription.
Note 2: I've seen people do this with India instead of Turkey, it turns out to be slightly cheaper but I haven't tested this so YMMV
