YouTube Premium Monthly Subscription: TRY ₺79.99 (~A$3.58) / INR ₹149 (~A$2.69), No VPN Required

2635

Hey Everyone!

I know there are a lot of ways to get YouTube Premium, but currently some of these methods are only available on iOS or require VPN. So, I thought I’d share a method I used recently to get YouTube Premium for Android users (or anyone else looking for a good deal). Please be gentle this is my first time posting something like this. I just spent hours on how to format on Oz :p

EDIT: Hey everyone, based on many comments below, it seems this method no longer works as it used to. It might work initially, but later on, YouTube seems to be asking users to update their payment details to match the country they've selected, like India. It works for a while, but eventually, they prompt you to change it. Personally, I haven’t been contacted yet, even after more than a month. Some people are still having success using the iOS method with a Turkey Apple/iOS account. (Reddit)

As the mods mentioned below, depending on feedback, I’ll consider taking this post down. Feel free to let me know your thoughts! :)

How to Get YouTube Premium with Geo-price (Android/Global Method)

Step 1: Set Up a New Google Account

  1. Create a new Google account.
  2. Once it’s created, click on the profile icon in the top right corner and select “Manage your Google account”.
  3. Go here Google Personal info link
  4. Look for a random address in India or Turkey. You can use any address generator online, or search for one.
  5. Make sure the address is set as India or Turkey in the Google payment center link
    — Important: When entering payment details, ensure you use an India or Turkey address. (Comm bank worked, assuming others would work too)

Step 2: Change Country Settings in Google Play Store

  1. Switch to phone and open the Google Play Store app.
  2. Tap the profile icon in the top right corner, then go to Settings > General > Account and device preferences.
  3. Make sure the "Country and profiles" setting is set to India or Turkey this is important for the next step.

Step 3: Subscribe to YouTube Premium

  1. Open YouTube either in the app or through Google Chrome (Note: it might not work on PC without a VPN).
  2. In the YouTube app, tap the profile icon in the bottom right corner and select "Get YouTube Premium”.
  3. Choose the payment option in Indian Rupees (INR) or Turkish Lira (TRY) to pay for your subscription at a discounted rate.
  4. Youtube premium

Youtube Plan AUD $ INR ₹ AUD$ Conversion
Individual $16.99 ₹149 $2.69 AUD
Family $32.99 ₹299 $5.39 AUD
Student $10.49 ₹89 $1.60 AUD
Annual $139.99 ₹1489 $26.84 AUD
Youtube Plan AUD $ TRY ₺ AUD$ Conversion
Individual $16.99 ₺79.99 $3.54 AUD
Family $32.99 ₺159.99 $7.08 AUD
Student $10.49 ₺52.99 $2.35 AUD
Annual $139.99 ₺N/A $N/A

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • If you're having trouble, you can try using the app “Fake GPS Location” by Lexa (available on the Google Play Store). I haven’t played around with it, but it kind of helped me for me on one of my accounts.
  • Alternatively, you might need to use a VPN to set the country correctly.

Moderator's Note

We are aware of users commenting that a local form of payment and/or a VPN is required to purchase the subscription. We are also aware that YouTube is cracking down on non-residential subscriptions and forcing subscribers to change to Australian subscriptions after 1 month. We will leave this deal post up to let users decide for themselves whether it is worth the time and effort to attempt this procedure. We encourage you to discuss your experiences and to vote accordingly.

User Potatohead82 has reported success using an alternative procedure which requires a VPN and a WISE card.

As others have mentioned, this method no longer works reliably (if it works for you, then you win the OzBargain lotto) as Google is cracking down on these loopholes by requiring payments from the issuing country. The only reliable way to not pay ridiculous Australian prices is to (sigh) pay the Apple tax and use gift cards to subscribe into YouTube premium.

I did this a few days ago, but quick steps on how I did it was -

    1. Create a new Turkey Apple ID
    2. Go to G2A, buy Turkish iTunes gift cards and load onto the new account
    3. Grab an iOS device and sign up to YouTube Premium using the new ID (you might need a VPN for this, I didn't have to)

Note: If you want to sign up for Family (around AUD$9 per month), you probably want to set up your Google family first before signing up, because whoever joins the family will need to have the same payment profile as the owner of the subscription.

Note 2: I've seen people do this with India instead of Turkey, it turns out to be slightly cheaper but I haven't tested this so YMMV

So far this seems like the only realistic workaround. I wonder if my 10 year old iPhone would work for this?

    • Can attest to this being the only option that worked for me and was pretty painless. You'll also need to generate a random Turkish address (iTunes will prompt for it late in the process).

    • Can confirm this works with India. Although family cost/month was 389INR, which is just over $7AUD :(

  • I had success in past with vpn. this time I am keep getting "Country not Verified" with vpn on. Has anyone got same message and any way around? Thanks

  • I created a new account and was able to get the YT premium and then invited it to the family group that I previously had. Seems like YT premium from the new account cannot be shared.

Does anyone know how to get around it?

  • For people like myself who use YoutubeMusic, is their an easy solution - For both PC and android ?

I know revanced kind of works, but heard you cant download songs for offline, which tbh i really need.

    • You can download music and video, or music from a video

I still haven't broken the news to my google family…
It's been a good couple years.

  • To continue delivering great service and features, we’re increasing your price to TRY 104.99/month.

Was TRY 79.99/month. So, this deal post will change soon in price. But will see.

  • I got an email a few days ago that my argentina family account will end as i don't have local payment method. I assume there's no workaround?

Has anyone tried paying via google play gift cards via android? (I don't have iphone)

  • I use youtube premium for the yt music. no idea which region anymore probably pakistan hope they don't get to me. I have a seperate gmail account for it so please leave me alone :(

    • My Pakistani one is coming to an end by 6/12

      • Same 5/12 for me. Sigh.

It worked so well for over 6 years.

Hi all i got charged on the 9th of November after them sending email to saw to change payment. Not sure if they will cancel it but atm says on my account next bill due 9/12 and that there will be a price increase 9/1/25 to 159.99 TRY. Fingers crossed they keep it active.

    • Same. I got the dreaded email and was like.. fkn dreaming if you think I’m paying after that date.

Funnily enough, payment taken on old card and an email about turkey price increase.

Maybe it was just scare tactics to see how many would jump ship and maybe they’re taking the side of ‘some money is better than no money’, because that’s what they’ll get from me if it stops working.

  • -6

Doesn’t work and won’t be wasting my time with this bs

  • If we do a family plan on this and invite our "regular" google account based in Australia, I assume it's not possible? So we will have to all use India google account? Does it mean the algorithm/suggestion will be based on India content?

    • Only initially. Then YouTube will start studying your watching habit and adjust to it.

  • I'm still on TRY plan and I got both emails, that I need a local card and another email saying that the fees are going up.. Hopefully they cancel each other out :D

The four down votes are angry YouTube Mods xD Thanks OP! will suss this out tonight :)

  • Has anyone tried with Wise or Revolut virtual debit cards?

Or are these marked as being from Australia?

    • Visa debit card from Revolut will be marked from AU…

  • +1

Lol all this trouble, might as well just use adblocker for PC (adguard from chrome extension store works perfectly) or revanced for Android.

    Revanced manager even supports YTmusic.

    • +1

can you download music for offline ?

      • +1

        yes

      • +1

        yes

The other option that works for me is using iOS with prepaid TRY giftcard added to apple wallet

  • +1

it doesn't work now, im using mexico famly plan for $22 per month, still cheaper than AU, but not by much, anyone knows any cheaper region which still works pls let me know, thanks

    • Same, I moved to Mexico after my Premium ceased in Pakistan back in September.

    • I moved to Serbian YT, family plan is currently ~$16.20. Signed up a few weeks ago after Argentina stopped working for me.

      • This still working?

        • +1

I haven't been kicked off yet.

  • Will this work if I get a prepaid debit card from Turkey or something similar?
Not sure if they are available but I can ask a Turkish colleague of mine if he can help but I'd like to know for sure before asking.

  • install the brave browser. there are not adds if you go to youtube via brave.
    and its free

    • +1

how do you do that on android TV?

  • +4

    Its been a good run

  • So the next best way to get Youtube Turkey is to spend 1k on an iphone and subscribe in iOS?

    • Downgrading to an iphone 15?

      • iPhone 15 still costs 1k at least. I am checking refurbished iPhone but it's a random luck with the conditions.

    • I'm sure you could pick up a second hand iPad for a few hundred, or a brand new one for ~$500, no need for a $1k phone!

  • Im grateful that I was able to set up a YouTube family plan on my last visit to Ukraine. Probably not possible without my Privat bank debit card.

Was quite tricky getting everyone set up when back in AU mainly because of their previous payment data on their individual accounts.

149 UAH per month is so cheap about $5.50

    • yeah risk being conscripted for a $10 bucks a month, you're a certified ozbargainer…..

      • Last time I checked foreigners on tourists visas aren’t being conscripted.

Wasn't working for me, tried using revolut/wise cards but was still saying it needed a local card.

Ended up doing what a previous commenter stated here being:
    * creating a new apple turkey account
    * buying a turkey apple gift card (i used g2a) - tested for 250 TRY ~ 12.50 AUDish
    * redeem apple gift card into account balance
    * VPN to turkey (using 7 days trial surf shark on IOS)
    * redeem on account - I used a new account as i'm doing this for my mum.

I got a 3 months free trial with monthly repayments of 109 TRY to commence in February. I guess around this time i will need to buy more TRY gift cards and redeem on account. Can't complain about the process as it's still 4x cheaper, Hope this helps anyone else trying.

Touch wood my other youtube accounts that were VPN'd to india and argentina won't have any payment faults in the coming month..

    • Thanks mate, I’m gonna try this when my Indian subscription ends in December. I’m thinking of making a brand new account as well just in case.

    • Yea pretty much that may be one of the best way looking at comments most people getting emailed from YT to change card. I unfortunately do not have an apple to try this method :(

  • big question, can you get annual for a family plan?

  • +2

My apologies guys I wasn't aware that YouTube was asking to change card details, looking at comments Wise may work but some people are still getting contacted by Youtube to change card as well. I tried to have look for an India based gift card, couldn't really find much yet. I'll have a bit more detailed search and get back :)

Looking for a way for pay for my Nigerian YT Premium plan is anyone has a solution. Sorry to hijack thread.

    • +5

Email back the Nigerian Prince to help you out.

      • Need a card to update my payment for YT like everyone else.

        • Weird since this guy further upthread is insisting otherwise.

          • @vawiyoci: Yeah I've had it working since February as well. It's only recently that they flagged me and have ask to fill in the charge form or they'll cancel my subscription on 5th December.

            • @nightelves: So it's the same as all the other countries then, not one left that doesn't require local payment method?

              • @vawiyoci: Looks like it's end of the road then … sigh.

Back to watching YT with ads.

                • @proudwanderer: For me it was mainly being spared the hassle of setting up adfree youtube on the rest of the family's phones as well as controlling smart speakers with the music subscription. Not really personally affected since I'm using rooted revanced on my phone and tablets and smartubenext on the TV.

Wouldn't it be great if the ATO sent Google the same letter?

You need payments issued in Ireland to get access to tax write off benefits. Otherwise pay your fair share for all the Australian transactions.

  • +1

just got an email from youtube advising i need to update my payment method to a card issued in India.

    They've started cracking down!

    • Same for Turkey and I've been paying via Turkey for years!

  • My existing family plan still working TRY115.99, around A$5

  • i've been spending way too much time on youtube shorts/doom scrolling. finally, they gave me the antidote - update your payment method to india..

  • +1

Just got the dreaded update to an Indian payment this morning, the dream is over.

    • No more Bollywood recommendations for you mate!

  • I'm on YT Pakistan - same email to update card as others mentioned.

  • +2

Got charged the new monthly cost of 159 TRY today no mention of having to update payment card. Using UK revolut

    • You'll probably get it soon enough. I just got it today.

This is the email I got today:

      Hi XXXXX,

YouTube Premium memberships based in Pakistan require a form of payment issued in Pakistan.

To maintain your membership, please update your form of payment to one issued in Pakistan before 12 December 2024. If you do not update your form of payment, your membership will not renew automatically and you will lose access to your YouTube Premium benefits.

If you have moved to a different country and need to update your signup country, please cancel your membership and sign up again.

To check the status of your membership and billing information, go to your Settings > Purchases and memberships page.

If you believe that you received this message in error or if you'd like to share feedback with our team, please fill in this form.

  • I received the email about payment plan from turkey last month. On Monday they took another payment on my old card? Tomorrow is the day it’s supposed to end so let’s see what happens.

I’m really hoping for scare tactics to make people switch but I’m also hoping they’ll accept some money is better than none, because they’ll get none from me if it’s cancelled.

    • Unfortunately from the comments on the previous deal threads it seems like they have been terminating subscriptions on the email stated dates so not just a bluff. Mine was also renewed and charged last week though my email warned it it would be cancelled end of this month.

      • Ahwell, $2.65 for 4 days is probably on par with regular Australian prices per month 🤣

    • Hmmm… Have your YouTube been cancelled after the dateline?

      • Nope, but I got another email saying it’s now going to cancel on Dec12 or something like that 🤣

        • Good for you! Hopefully, mine will be the same too and we will just have to take it one month at a time.

  • How are they working out the issuing country of the payment?

Is Mastercard / VISA telling them directly?

Edit - Ah, there's a database. So all we need is to find an outlier provider… like a brand new bank thats not on their DB yet assuming they are manually importing these DBs.

    https://www.mastercard.com.au/en-au/business/issuers/product…

or potentially there's a data entry exploit where we can enter the credit card numbers in a way that's valid but not compatible with their parsing and checking.

another exploit may be to acquire a card in that country that's about to expire/die so it passes initial checks then have your normal payment as backup payment.

Then just never delete the dead card off the system.

  • My Philippine account just got notified I need to update payment method. It was fun while it lasted. I ain’t going back to ads! $6.40 a user on the family plan isn’t that bad I suppose.

  • I received email to update my payment to Turkey but also received an email increasing of price to TRY 159.99

  • Just got an email that I need a Ukranian form of payment….what do I do now :(

  • Thanks for the memories

    Here's what worked for me.

    1) Open an ininal account at https://www.ininal.com. there's a bit of work and involves sending them a photo of yourself holding your passport, but eventually you can get it done.
    2) install mobile app, change language to English and create a virtual debit card
    3) install Remitly on your phone and send money into your ininal debit card. Do your maths on how much money you want to send depending on the subscription you want to do. Send as much as possible as every time you send money it's $5 with Remitly. (But there's an animal monthly limit which I can't remember now)
    4) using a VPN connect to Turkey. I suggest to use this free VPN : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.secure.hot…
Nordvpn doesn't work well for this.
    5) open an incognito window in your browser. Log in into YouTube.com. Cancel your membership if you had it in another country, otherwise no need. Open Google (still in incognito) and search for "YouTube premium". Click on that and it should bring you to the page where you can select the type of subscription. Select the one you want.
    6) input your ininal card details and activate your subscription.
    7) that's it, close the incognito window, disconnect the VPN and open theYouTube app on your phone, which should now say "Premium".

Sometimes the VPN somehow fails to hide your true location to Google and YouTube. So before sending the money to ininal (which will be very hard to retrieve), test point 5 making sure you see all prices in TRY, not in $, and it doesn't say "this offer is not available" or similar.

    • Interesting, do you know if the debit card works for other services like PlayStation/ Xbox store for Turkey accounts?

      • +1

It's a Turkish VISA debit card at all effects so most likely yes

    • Not able to get step 1 completed as I'm not receiving the OTP on my phone. Any ideas?

      • I can't remember exactly if I received the OTP through email or through phone, but it definitely worked.

        • Yup got it done with my work number. Thanks! Just waiting for approvals now.

          • @cray: Great. Before you send money to ininal, make sure the VPN you are using is not failing to hide your location to YouTube. You need to be able to log into YouTube as explained and see prices in TRY.
Might take a few tries with different VPN servers, or even you may have to try again in a few days. See how you go
Just make sure it works because it's very hard to withdraw money from ininal into your Aussie account, I'm not even entirely sure it's possible.

    • Confirming this works, saves me having to go buy a refurb iphone.

When accessing youtube.com/premium (via incognito) was still getting the location not detected error or similar. Same on the Youtube App. However through the Youtube Music app I had no issues getting into the subscriptions page where I could renew the cancelled premium subscription.

      • What card did you use?

    • Can’t you use Wise to send the money there instead of Remitly?

      • Maybe but if there's a way, I couldn't figure out how.
Id love to use wise instead of Remitly, which is quite expensive.

        • I saw comments on Reddit of people using Revolut, maybe that is cheaper option?

Do you transfer to a Turkish bank account or it it only directly to a Turkish debit card?

          • @Moo Deng: Also with Revolut I could not figure out how to use it in this instance. I tried Revolut and Wise before trying successfully with Remitly.

You transfer the money to Ininal which is a bank account, the virtual debit card draws money from the account to make the payments.

    • Does this still work?

      • Yes it still works for me

    • Do you have faith that ininal will keep your Passport details secure? Why?

      • As far as I know it's a reputable company in Turkey. No reason to doubt them more than any other company you share your id details with.

    • That "VPN TURKEY - Unlimited & Proxy" VPN is only for Android devices, anything you can use on a desktop web browser?

    • Hello, again, couldn't get OTP in step 1.. tried 2 different numbers. It doesn't send OTP to emails, only phone

      • It does send OTP to my email

        • i am trying to create the account yet, wasn't able to do it yet, because of the OTP for the first time needs phone number, did you get it on email? how?

          • @StarGrapper: I cant remember to be honest. I think at first it was with phone number yes, bu tthen it was email after you open the account. sorry but I cant recall.
Whats the issue in getting the OTP over text?
