YouTube Premium Monthly Subscription: TRY ₺79.99 (~A$3.58) / INR ₹149 (~A$2.69), No VPN Required

Hey Everyone!

I know there are a lot of ways to get YouTube Premium, but currently some of these methods are only available on iOS or require VPN. So, I thought I’d share a method I used recently to get YouTube Premium for Android users (or anyone else looking for a good deal). Please be gentle this is my first time posting something like this. I just spent hours on how to format on Oz :p

EDIT: Hey everyone, based on many comments below, it seems this method no longer works as it used to. It might work initially, but later on, YouTube seems to be asking users to update their payment details to match the country they've selected, like India. It works for a while, but eventually, they prompt you to change it. Personally, I haven’t been contacted yet, even after more than a month. Some people are still having success using the iOS method with a Turkey Apple/iOS account. (Reddit)

As the mods mentioned below, depending on feedback, I’ll consider taking this post down. Feel free to let me know your thoughts! :)

How to Get YouTube Premium with Geo-price (Android/Global Method)

Step 1: Set Up a New Google Account

  1. Create a new Google account.
  2. Once it’s created, click on the profile icon in the top right corner and select “Manage your Google account”.
  3. Go here Google Personal info link
  4. Look for a random address in India or Turkey. You can use any address generator online, or search for one.
  5. Make sure the address is set as India or Turkey in the Google payment center link
    — Important: When entering payment details, ensure you use an India or Turkey address. (Comm bank worked, assuming others would work too)

Step 2: Change Country Settings in Google Play Store

  1. Switch to phone and open the Google Play Store app.
  2. Tap the profile icon in the top right corner, then go to Settings > General > Account and device preferences.
  3. Make sure the "Country and profiles" setting is set to India or Turkey this is important for the next step.

Step 3: Subscribe to YouTube Premium

  1. Open YouTube either in the app or through Google Chrome (Note: it might not work on PC without a VPN).
  2. In the YouTube app, tap the profile icon in the bottom right corner and select "Get YouTube Premium”.
  3. Choose the payment option in Indian Rupees (INR) or Turkish Lira (TRY) to pay for your subscription at a discounted rate.
  4. Youtube premium

Youtube Plan AUD $ INR ₹ AUD$ Conversion

Student $10.49 ₹89 $1.60 AUD

Youtube Plan AUD $ TRY ₺ AUD$ Conversion

Annual $139.99 ₺N/A $N/A

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • If you're having trouble, you can try using the app “Fake GPS Location” by Lexa (available on the Google Play Store). I haven’t played around with it, but it kind of helped me for me on one of my accounts.
  • Alternatively, you might need to use a VPN to set the country correctly.

Moderator's Note

We are aware of users commenting that a local form of payment and/or a VPN is required to purchase the subscription. We are also aware that YouTube is cracking down on non-residential subscriptions and forcing subscribers to change to Australian subscriptions after 1 month. We will leave this deal post up to let users decide for themselves whether it is worth the time and effort to attempt this procedure. We encourage you to discuss your experiences and to vote accordingly.

User Potatohead82 has reported success using an alternative procedure which requires a VPN and a WISE card.

    thanks for sharing.

This method works great in conjunction with fake GPS and VPN to get better prices on in-game purchases.

It also works for Netflix, but unfortunately, not for Disney. I tried using it, but Disney can tell I'm not using a Turkey-based credit card. I even tried Google Play cards, but with Google’s new gift card verification process, that didn’t work either.

    • +20

Has this worked recently? Because in the past year, they've been progressively cracking down by forcing you to use a credit card issued from the same country.

      • +2

Yep thats what is happening with me. Need to update Credit card info with one that has a billing address in the same country. How do they even check that?

        • +6

Credit card is not a random number. The first 6 numbers know as Issuer Identification Number (IIN). So just looking the first 6 numbers they can known what country, which bank issue the card.

    • better prices on in-game purchases.

Can you use this method to buy cheap games from the Play Store?

  • +59

They are no longer available and now only accept payment options issued in Turkey.
I also got the email from youtube for asking changing the credit card issued in Turkey.

    • +1

I got a similar email recently asking that I change my credit card to one issued in India. Does the above get around this issue? Btw, unrelated to YouTube Premium but a friend recently had problems accessing Australian apps from Google Play store because his country of residence for Google Pay on his phone was set to Thailand…Can't remember how I did it but was not an easy process to change it back to Australia.YMMV

      • -1

You need to change the payment profile form playstore settings first ti be able to change country. Took me a while to figure out and eventually ask for Google support

        • +2

You still need a payment method (card) from that country as well or you will get flagged no?

        • +3

You can only change your country once every 12 months as well.

          • +3

@Onemoredeal: Yes two different things but you need a card from that country too now.

          • +1

@Onemoredeal: Google need to get outdoors more and travel

      • Yes i find this as well. Some apps are not in the google store as it thinks im in India even though i have Australia set as the country. Any way to fix this?

Only way i can locate these apps is to google them then try to download them that way instead of the play store. In some cases that doesn't work as it says this apps is not available in your country?!

      • +1

I use a second google account that is set to Australia to download these apps from play store. Just switch account by tapping the user icon on the top right corner.

    • +11

i got the same mail, was supposed to be canceled yesterday as per their email but somehow the payment went through and it says i have it till next month now?
idk what happened, but ill take it

    • really? I only got a price update email

it is still linked to my cba card

    • Same. Vietnam, Pakistan is being picked up as well.

With restrictions on changing your location/family to every 12 months, it's risky to try again elsewhere at this point.

  • +6

irelevent, but might help someone thinking get rid of ads. on PC browser, i think we all know what to use, and its been working wonderfull so far.
on iOS, i use "video lite" its been a year now, 0 ads, feels just like official app, free ofc. :)

    • Thanks for sharing video lite, isn’t paid subscription to remove ads?

    • Video lite?

    • video lite looks great! Is there a way to download videos and shorts on iOS? There are shortcuts for instagram but can’t find one that works for YouTube.

    • What do you use for windows ?

    • +1

      Android revanced

    • Does this have a time period where it’s only free for?

  • +24

This doesn't work anymore unless you can use a payment card from the specific country. I had a Turkey based YT premium account, but now I got an email saying unless I enter a credit card issued in Turkey, they’ll not continue my membership

    • Have been using turkey for two years and haven’t had any issues or emails sent… interesting.

      • +3

I have been using it for a while as well. First India, now Turkey.
About two weeks ago I got the email that for the next billing period pricing would be adjusted unless I add a card from Turkey.

        • +1

Interesting, I got the email about a week back saying that there were price increases coming, but nothing about the payment method. Suspect I'm living on borrowed time now.

          • +3

@noisymime: I got the price increase last week as well - after the first email saying they would adjust the region.
But not counting on it as think they just sent out the increase to everyone.

First email: "…To maintain your membership, please update your form of payment to one issued in Turkey before 5 December 2024.."

second email:"…To continue delivering great service and features, we’re increasing your price to TRY 159.99/month…."

            • +1

@BlueDiesel: Interesting - I got the "form of payment from given country" one but I did go and check on my renwal date and it's about a week before their "update your info by" date of the 5th. Wonder if it's a convoluted form of "we can't quite crack down on you yet, but if we word this as scarily as we can without actually saying we're cancelling you, you might just switch and pay us more to be safe"?

At this point I'm going to have to keep the eyes open come the 23rd (renewal) until the 5th ("update your info by now or we won't renew") and see what happens…

              • @Sam of Ham: I am more or less in the same boat. Definitely wont change the anything before they actually cancel me.

                • @BlueDiesel: Let's see what happens… At least there's a week in there to panic and change if things don't renew. GL friendo!

              • @Sam of Ham: I'd just try a new form of payment anyway a day or two before the date, see if it's accepted.

                • +1

@G-rig: Will see what they do - it may be jumping the gun and/or signalling one's sense of guilt to change before then. There's a week grace in there so will see what happens after the 23rd.

                  • @Sam of Ham: Yes time will tell. Sounds like after the date premium will end obviously though

                    • @G-rig: Possibly. I've heard others say they renewed without issue despite the email, so what it says and what actually happens may not match up. Either way, we'll see come the end of month!

                      • +1

@Sam of Ham: Yes definitely worth updating payment method just before date and see if it's accepted.

    • I read reviews on using netflix through this platform aren’t good.

      • +2

Yeah since the crack down on account sharing Netflix cancelled all their Turkey accounts. Now they have no accounts to put their users on to.

It was great before the banning.

    • my Gamgso YOUTUBE account is good/working fine.

      • yeah exactly. it's legit. got the family invite within 10 min of purchase.

  • +15

    Nar this doesn't work anymore.
Has been good got years but you need to have a payment method from Turkey unfortunately.

I saw a post where it may be worth trying Ukraine.

    • +14

Nope im on Ukraine, got the local payment email, they are really trying to squeeze everyone lol but in the case of youtube ill just watch less and touch grass.

    • Have been using Turkey for two years and haven’t no issues and no emails regarding update…

  • +9

It won’t work mate ,when inputting indian debit or credit card in Google play store as a payment option it will ask you to verify your card and you will need to upload a copy of your debit card (last 4 digits) and a national ID issued by India government , don’t know how you got this working , I have got an indian mobile no as well as an indian bank card , still unable to get the Sub through India.

  • I currently pay $1.5 (1.7K Nigerian Naira) a month for a family membership for YouTube Premium. I didn't need a VPN to set it up (this was the case 10 months ago, but might have changed now).

    • +2

Do you have the step by step guide to set this up? Thank you in advance.

      • Sorry, I was wrong about the VPN. At the time I did it, I just needed to turn on the VPN (Nigeria) and the Nigerian price appeared. I learned about this trick from here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14957518/redir

        • It didn't require a Nigerian-based credit card? All the recent comments on reddit about it are saying it declines your subscription otherwise.

          • @vawiyoci: No, not really. I used my HSBC debit card and it's working smoothly since February. Every month, I pay $1.52 for the family subscription

            • @Hazz125: Weird then since a couple of those comments were also from earlier this year as well. Might give this a try myself since our Pakistan one is ending soon due to non-local payment card.

  • +23

I recently got the email about YouTube turkey deal coming to an end.

Jokes on them, instead of taking my $5 a month for premium they'll be getting nothing from me now while I enjoy ad free youtube via revanced on phone and adblocks in chrome.

    • Any work around for youtube app on Google Chrome cast TV

      • +6

        Smarttubenext

        • thanks gonna give this a try, youtube ads are doing my head in

    • There are other benefits to YTP, can you have your phone screen off?

      • +3

        For Revanced, yes.

  • I pay try 115.99 for my family plan which was $5.14

  • It’s gone.

TRY card required. Now we have to move to in app purchase.

  • +1

Why gp through all this hassle and just download revanced instead? (Android)

    • Alot of them are blocked. Which one are you using arm? Thanks.

    • -3

Looks like revanced is a hassle too (and still illegal patching old version of YouTube app)

      https://www.reddit.com/r/revancedapp/s/3inNTDawAO

      • It's not illegal.

And as linked in your link, here's a guide:
        https://old.reddit.com/r/revancedapp/comments/xlcny9/revance…

        • -2

You can tell yourself that. As one person said:
There's a difference between blocking incoming connections and blocking element to load on a Web page and modifying a piece of software.

Anyway I'm sure it's worth testing if there are no other economical solutions but not ideal. Changing counties with a VPN to get a cheaper price probably isn't legal anyway when it comes down to it.

PS. Anyone checked Thailand for the price? Usually works without hassle.

          • @G-rig:

There's a difference between blocking incoming connections and blocking element to load on a Web page and modifying a piece of software.

Not really. One is modifying a process (browser extension), the other is modifying a program (revanced patching the app).

Both are modifying software to block connections (among other things).

            • @idonotknowwhy: Dunno you'd have to look up the technicalities, blocking things isn't modifying the software - I use dns.adblock.com in phone settings and it stops most of the ads and popups.

          • @G-rig: How do you feel about buying movies and music online when you don't actually own them?

            • @Headless: Dunno, fine.
Bought my fair share of CDs back in day. I'd rather stream than try and fit 30,000 songs on your device. It's easy to own them anyway if you are so inclined but it's handy streaming.

              • @G-rig: When the company decides to cancel their licensing of the product, you will lose access, would you buy them again with another provider?

      • +1

Works perfectly for me and very easy on Android

        • +1

It's not practical to try and get each family member to set that up. Probably alright for a single sub single device if you are a bit tech savvy.

          • @G-rig: I can confirm, just too hard basket with family and friends, you kinda need to do it yourself if you really want ir

  • +6

I’ve been using Youtube India for a few years and I got an email from Youtube asking to change my payment with card issued in India otherwise the subscription will be cancelled. Has anyone else got this?

    • +1

Yes there was a crackdown a few months ago. I got it as well

    • +1

Yes here as well. FOrtunately I have a relative in India who can update teh payment type

  • +3

I was using the Ukrainian service but YouTube advised if I don’t change to a local credit card, the premium subscription will be cancelled and I have a month to comply.

  • +2

My TRY premium student account still getting charged through my wise card. Only email I've had from YouTube is a price increase email, the same as I received last year that it was increasing in December (to student rate in OP post).

Are other people that are getting change payment method email not using a wise card?

    • Got charged TRY for family to my Revolut card overnight. No emails yet.

    • +3

It's staggered rollout. I got the crackdown email 8 months before my mate.

      • You didn't mention, for a wise card?

        • i was using a wise card, subscribed to turkey. and 2 weeks ago, got the email saying i need a card issued in turkey or they cancel. moved my ytp to philippines (because i have a phil issued card)

    • 28 degrees still works, so I'm too afraid to change

      • I'm using 28 Degrees and I got the email.

        • All about luck

    • +1

I received this email last month and changed my payment option to Wise INR currency.

      Seems to have worked.

      • Thanks for the tip, will try it.

      • how do you "set" the INR currency in Wise?

  • +1

so far revanced is working fine :)

  • +3

They've been cracking down on this, staggered rollout

  • Me too got the recent email saying need a Indian credit card, unsure what I'll do. Can't stand ads, so what are all you guys doing who have got this email ?only a couple have offered complicated suggestions anyone paying full Aussie price or you just canceling premium?I like my YT music too
