551

just added. haven't watched it yet.
when I first saw the trailer wasn't sure if Anya was good for the role of Furiosa. can't say until after I watched it but I kind of always saw her as a bit on the thinner graceful side.

Mad Max Fury Road also available to watch.

The origin story of Imperator Furiosa

When a young Furiosa is taken from the Green Place of Many Mothers, she ends up living with a Biker Horde who follow the Warlord Dementus. As two Tyrants battle for control of the Citadel, Furiosa remains focused on her return to the Wasteland.

2 hours 28 mins
Australian director George Miller.

If you liked fury rd you'll like furiosa. Lots of cool vehicles.

    • +3

      i actually didnt mind Furiosa

i thought it'd be shit… and some parts are… ie. the SFX is way down on the 1st movie but the plot is a lot better

      • -1

no reason i would ever watch furiosa over fury road - chris hemsworth just a thor meme

        • +2

          This was absolute garbage

    • -1

      Yeah nah

    • Hard disagree. Furiosa was hot garbage.
Don’t know how this got a 7.1 on IMDB
We watched it today and it was terrible.
Plot holes everywhere. Really flat acting from key players.
Battle scenes felt like I was watching a choreographed Universal Studios theme park performance.

How is this a bargain? If you already have Netflix, its included and if you dont have Netflix this offers no financial benefit

    Am I missing something?

    • +10

      Am I missing something?

Yes. The disclaimer at the bottom of the post

    • +13

Nope - it ain't a bargain, no matter how many disclaimers.

      • Define a bargain.

Is it paying $30 a year for anti-virus where all major operating systems already come with native protection?

        • Bargains, like beauty, are in the eye of the beholder.

    • +2

Yep no bargain to be had here unless even non subscribers can also avail and watch it, then it will be a whoppin', BARGAIN! 🎆

    • +5

FYI: There's a setting to filter SUBS out of your feed. It'd make sense for people who aren't interested in these kinds of posts to utilise it and move on with their lives…

      • Thanks, i had followed this and they still show up 🙄

    • +1

Nah not missing anyways, literally just an advertisement. No point down voting or commenting though, as they just get removed…

  • +21

Not available in 4k or hdr.

Just HD. Not worth watching such a visually impressive movie in HD.

    • +1

I can see it coming in the near future…

"Our customers complained and we listened, so behold our latest offering Netflix Individial Premium 4K Guaranteed Subscription for $40AUD per month, or Family Premium 4K Guaranteed Subscription for only $65 per month".

    • Sounds like it'll fit our plan, "the missus' mum pays for the cheapest one without ads and we nick it every now and then when Squid Game or something comes out", perfectly.

    • -1

Do you mean HD or FHD? There is a difference.

      • FHD

    • -1

Depends if you have a 4K TV or not, and what size screen you've got, and viewing distance. If you have a smaller size TV, or you're viewing on a mobile device, then HD is more than good enough.

      • Mobiles have HDR these days. iPhone Pro Max has over 1080p resolution, it has a peak 1600 nits brightness for HDR. 4K HDR is more than good enough for modern smartphones, 1080p SDR is less than good enough.

        • -1

So, as you know, they make 8K TVs now. I guess that means that 4K isn't good enough after all, right?

          • -1

@MrZ: With the size of TVs nowadays, 8K makes a lot of sense. Plus the ALP is promising to fix the NBN so we'll be able to deliver 8K streaming, and processors have become so powerful, heat efficient, and cheap that we'll be able to process the 8K streams. Assuming the ALP win the next election, then now is the perfect time to roll out 8K.

    • I'd rather watch the worst show with HDR than without. Even the very slight HDR they added to the original Star Wars movies looks good, helps recreate the kind of glow you get from a silver screen.

    • my TV doesn't even do 4K.

but for those that do have 4K TV's that does sound pretty sucky.

they advertise 4K in the premium tier I just checked, but it doesn't apply to all movies? it doesn't even say that on the tier page.

    Also just dropped on Binge.

    • +1

There will be a post up shortly

    • Time to finally use my $2 month. About what I'd have paid on cheap Tuesday to rent the DVD anyway.

      • How did you get it for $2 a month?

        • I've had 3 or so accounts. Had a trial, got a year for free years ago, had another trial or signed up or something. Point being, I've got a couple accounts. And every other month they'll send one of them a "hey we miss you, come back for $2 for 2 months" message and I was sharing with some people on here a while back but since that fizzled out I've just been bouncing between those on two or three emails. About all Binge is worth for me tbh.

I'd keep Disney (currently approx 7.50 p/m via Turkey) and turf any and all others without a second thought.

    • Is it 4k/hdr unlike netflix.?

How long until we see PPV upgrades costs for higher bitrates as additional costs. Don't want to give them the idea of course.

      • Yeah it's in 4k but no HDR on Binge.

    • I AM THE NIGHT RIIIIIDAAAAAAH!

      • Remember him when you look at the night sky!!

  • +2

    watched today. was great

  • +3

This is actually a decent watch, was better than expected, thought Chris Hemsworth character was good

  • They’re possibly matching Binge!

  • +2

    Pretty average film.

  • +2

Does this movie involved tiny 60kg women doing battle with tall muscular men and winning? Will it make me cringe too much?

    • +6

The movie does have a scene where a tiny 60kg woman gets assaulted and crucified by tall muscular men in front of her daughter. Is that better for you?

    • +1

I dont know man. It basically has flying cars on parachutes and giant structures unbuildable by post-apocalyptic man, so I guess you'll be cringing throughout. There are plenty of iindie dramas and comedies and things you can watch out there. I don't think the fantasy genre is for you.

      • -1

        k bud

      • So according to Aboriginal oral history its basically Australia prior to 1788.

    • I don't wanna be cringe I wanna be based be chill and have swag. but what's wrong with being cringe?

  • +2

I wanted to love it, and think the criticisms re. CGI were absurd, but I just could not get past Hemsworth's horribly faux and forced accent. During PR for the film he constantly spoke about how it was his idea and that he was seeking to mimic his grandfather but yeah, for mine it just didn't come off well at all…

That said, Miller is a genius. I just hope he works with better actors moving forward, Hemsworth is Marvel material, not Mad Max.

  • +1

Watched the first 10 minute and switched it off. Rubbish

    • Same. I enjoyed the first one though.

  • Do I need to watch the previous movie to follow the plot?

    • Not really, it’s a prequel to Fury Road.

    • No

Same universe, doesn't really line up with previous stories. Minor overlaps.

  • Whether you like it or not george miller tells some great stories… i liked it

  • The film relied too heavily on special effects. The story was a bit convoluted. The Jack and Furiosa arc was probably the best part.
