          • @The Value: True, but many people thumbs can move in more than one direction :-p

            • @terrys: Lmao. I should have known better than to criticise Apple in an iPhone thread.

Not everyone can reach the other side of the phone. Not everyone uses two hands to use a phone.
Not everyone has the cognitive ability to swipe from the other end of the phone.
              Options are good.

      • From long term android friends who made the switch to Apple ios, it usually takes about a week to settle in. Also a lot of hidden features to play around with and learn.

    • -1

if I like it as obviously so many people love it.

I can see the attraction, you can do almost anything provided it's the Apple way.

For those complaining about battery life, if you can put up with it not knowing when you last moved your bowls, and go through and turn of everything automatically synching to icloud you may get a bit extra time. Convenience and allowing the phone to have every service it is capable of (and that is no small field) comes at a price. They have at least stayed even with Samsung in not having the battery literally crash and burn…

e.g: Wallpaper change - go to photo, then pick "share" [ broken rectangle with an up arrow], there's no " set as wallpaper" button. I suspect a lot of i-phone users would have little taste for a static screen…

  • If you don't want the SIM Card / 90 Day Mobile Plan, is there a market out there where people buy these?

    • I could be wrong, but you’d probably need to go through the change in ownership process, which seems like a hassle

  • Maybe its me but I can find 'plastic thin film type' screen protectors for the Apple iPhone 12 Mini anywhere

I searched the web, JB and Amazon, and all the Apple iPhone 12 Mini screen protectors are the 'Glass type'

Has anyone been able to find the 'plastic thin film type' ?

    • +1

Personally I’ve only sent the plastic thin film for curved screen phones

    • +1

eBay search lowest > highest plenty 10 packs for $2.95 (personally like glass ones better)

      https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=iphone+12+…

      • -2

I can't stand buying from people on eBay

Have you seen any from a well know brand sold in a store or the company's online store

        • I’m on the look iPhone mini armband for jogging from reputable brand (my new iPod) if this actually ends up coming…

  • -7

Received 256Gb Blue yesterday in Sydney, sold today on marketplace at 675$ . Though People are listing at 800-900$ same model…

    • Did you open the box to charge the phone first or just sold it unopened?

      • -2

Opened the box , battery was flat so charged it 100 percent . Used it for sometime to check camera quality etc ..

  • +2

I got mine but the phone doesn’t turn on. I charged it for 2 hours using wireless charger and 2 hours with original cable but I dont see the charge icon. The battery may go flat and need some special device to charge it. I will bring it to Apple Store tomorrow.

    • +3

Let us know how it goes at the Apple Store and if Apple give you an iPhone 13 Mini as a replacement

    • Have you tried contacting Amaysim and see if you can return for a new one?

Other commenter said Apple sent theirs away to ‘repair’ and didn’t offer a replacement on the spot

      • Contacted Amaysim and they asked to bring it to Apple Store.

    • How did it go at the apple store?

      • The guy at Chadstone Apple Store plugged the phone to his laptop but can't read any device info. He said they will send it to somewhere and answer me in 5 working days.

        • I went to Chaddy as well. They also plugged my phone into a Macbook to run diagnostics. I was told to go back to Amaysim and to see if I can get a refund or replacement. Amaysim told me send it back to Optus. I was told by an Optus rep that a replacement was approved. But, I have not received a replacement yet. How did you go with the Apple Store, any luck?

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: They fixed it, the phone was repaired in Sydney and sent back to me through AusPost.

            • @ndoan: Good to hear, wish I did the same and got Apple to fix the phone! Must've spent 6+ hours chasing up Optus for the replacement device, with nothing to show for it.

  • Ordered about 8pm and received mine via Startrack yesterday, Sydney, 256GB Blue. Tried to update software but it's frozen for couple hours now, still did not complete the updates.

  • I only had the eSIM option when I ordered mine. I chose to get a new number as I wanted to use an existing SIM card and plan with the phone. Is it possible to to transfer the eSIM plan to the blank SIM card they included? I'd like to use the data plan on a different device if possible.

    • From previous comments I believe so. There will be a $2 sim in the package. You need to chat to get it transferred. I have not received mine yet so just based on what others said.

    • +3

It's easy to transfer from eSim to physical SIM with Amaysim.

      • Simply log into your Amaysim account.
      • Click on "Replace SIM" on the left hand column.
      • Enter the SIM number found on the back of your free $2 Amaysim SIM pack.
      • Wait 1-3hrs.
      • Now you can use the $2 physical SIM in any phone.

      Done!

      • Thanks. I discovered that option too before contacting them via chat. Worked well. Been really happy with Amaysim and this deal.

  • +2

Haven’t received the phone yet, but took delivery of this case
High quality by the looks, $20 delivered (Prime)

  • +10

From the comments we are seeing about people receiving phones with dead batteries & in some cases, not able to revive, we have to conclude that these have been sitting in a warehouse for a couple of years before being discovered by surprise. Amaysim must have bought the entire stock to sell at knockdown prices alongside their prepaid sim. They probably accepted that some of them would be DOA & take the hit on Apple warranty replacements/repairs

    Well, that’s my theory

  • +1

Muzeeb accidentally sent me an extra iPhone lmao, even better than this deal

  • +1

I would want to postpone the activation of sim network. But the chat support said I can’t postpone the activation. I have seen someone commenting that one can postpone the activation to 90 days later. How could I do that?

    • +1

When you find out pls post here as I would like to know as well

      • Activation where you are porting a number can be delayed 90 days. For those with a new number. I think the phone is pre-activated?

  • What happens if I got amaysim invoice with an empty tracking number? No AusPost notification.

    • Received my invoice at 2 minutes past midnight, but like the commenter above, my tracking link goes nowhere…

      • Same here ..

    • ditto

    • Same. I reckon they must have prepared it for delivery. One it’s in AusPost’s system, it might get populated in the app.

    • +1

Got another email saying “Welcome to Amaysim” and the plan has started, before receiving the parcel.

      • +1

Same, guess we will have to pre-prepare TIO complaint in advance.

    • Nothing for me so far

  • -1

Could this deal be deemed worthy of receiving the "Deal of the Decade" award?

    • +2

Needing this new phone to come as battery has decline reading daily comments!

    • You have my vote on that !

    • -1
      • +2

not a lot of people got that deal though, only those that were able to get the order reissued.

the bunnings drone deal is probably better but still only few got lucky.

    • -2

Too many DOA, and even fake tracking.

  • Who here has a phone already but bought the mini as a spare?

Realistically how often do you change between phones and under what circumstance?

I already have a phone and just wondering if I actually will use it - didn’t want to miss out on the deal of the year!

    • I have a mini as a spare before this deal was live.

I never ever pull out the phone and use it as a spare

    • +1

I bought it with that intention but didn't suit my needs so just sold it on and made a profit. It's a win for me but it's probs the cheapest new iPhone you'll ever get that's decent for the price.

    • the 12mini battery is indeed a concern.
coming from xs max, 4 and half year old, still gets me thru the day just fine for what i need. but the 12mini despite have 100% health(my xsmax is at 83%), it lasts almost the same, or worse.

my old phone is completely fine, upgrade due to trying out lighter weight and size. I dont think I could do the same with my android phone, no way it is going to perform the same after 4.5 years…..

      • One thing I did when I got this was apply the same protocol I did with my Android devices, and turned off the synching of everything to i-cloud and set up i-tunes on my Windows desktop for back-ups.

I'll probably get negged by the two muppets who didn't like my last comment, however the convenience of " it just works" - and it does - does come with a higher power use.

After a few calls and a bit of browsing my 12 mini has dropped to 79%, tho it's early days and the charge/discharge algorithm will take a little while to truly reflect my use.

With pretty much everything damped down it is matching my Realme 7 for light use - a few calls, ~ 1/2 hour browsing, a few map access sessions and 6 photos.

This article starts on the basis synch is by default off.

        Err, no, it's on.

        https://www.dummies.com/article/technology/electronics/cell-…

    • I bought it as a spare however I am beginning to rethink that. It is fast and responsive and above all fits my pockets.

The downside for me is no headphone jack, and for all the vaunted technical superiority, reports a lower signal and offers slower data rates at my home address as my RealMe 7 on Belong or Voda - Amaysim are a little on the totally incompetent side when it comes to swapping the -eSIM that was never activated to the physical SIM, even after telling me the transfer was complete a mere 54 hours after the request was accepted.

  • +1

This tiny phone seems to be tightly packed everything to accomodate and hence wireless charging is horrible. It turns out to be hot iron. Even normal 20 watt official Apple charging make it too hot to handle. Completely shut down with warning 3 times today. Hope this settle down or is it gonna remain the same. Drop some shades from you guys as well.

    • +3

noticed the same issue as well, my xs max barely gets hot, it is warm to touch, completely fine, also doesnt show warning in battery app (if the charging is halted by temperature, it will tell you there) and it is always the case for the mini, i am not using official charger/brick, just a anker wireless charger with 10W power brick(I choose this wattage on purpose to keep the heat in control).

I always enjoy the seemless, hassle free, wireless charging experience, it also saves the wear-tear on the light port. But need to find a better way to do this now. maybe some better wireless charger that has cooling feature, but nothing looks promising so far (noise issue)

    • I had that a few years ago with one of the first Xperias, but it settled after the first two charges.

Still, heat and batteries don't go well together, especially on a device whose raison detre is " handheld"…

  • +2

Received my white mini on Thursday, DOA. Rang Amaysim and was told to force start by pressing volume up then volume down then hold on button till it starts. Told them already tried that, so told to put on charger for 1/2 hr, said already have for 1.5 hrs. So they told me I could either take it to an Apple store or send it back, I chose to send it back as to far to go to an Apple store. So they told me they will send an email on return procedure, when I received the email they asked me to follow a troubleshoot first which was a rinse and repeat of what was first communication was but then they added try charging for 2hrs and get back to them if nothing happens, of coarse nothing changed. After 2.5hrs of charge I let them know, no change still dead. They must of clocked off as I didn't get a reply back that evening. Later on in the evening I contacted Apple on their chat to see what their advice was, same thing try this try that, then take it into Apple store as need to be checked out. Friday lunchtime, checked emails, no response from Amaysim still. Decided to ring Apple store in the city to see about taking it in to be checked, after explaining the situation so far, I was told as it was DOA it can't be repaired it has to be replaced with a new one, but as it was purchase through Amaysim they have to deal with it as I'm third party. They opened a case ID for me and said for me to supply Amaysim with it and tell them to add ( phone won't start / doa ) on the title to them. Ok cool. Still no email back from Amaysim after 1pm now so decide to ring them again, I explain everything to them again, I got the sorry about that we will sort it out now. After being on hold for a while they told me they will send me an email on the return procedure, I thought great I can get it in the post today so it can travel over the weekend. Did'nt happen , no email till Saturday 5pm saying they will send a post pack out shortly, then another email after from Optus Boomerang which seem to be their repair centre and for assessing. So now waiting for a post pack to arrive to send it back, I can't see having a replacement for at least a week a half to 2 . I think I would have much rather gone into a physical store to purchase a phone, as I could have just taken it back and swapped for another with no headaches, and saved at least 4hrs of time. I must say I did thank the last operator at Amaysim for not having that crap repetitive tune playing while he had me on hold. I hope others with the same issues with their phones don't get the same run around.

    • +4

You will probably just get a refund if you send it back since no stock left

    • +1

Why not just take it to Apple for replacement?

      • +5

I would have gone to an Apple Store with the Tax Invoice

As its a major failure, you are entitled to a new replacement phone

      • I called them and was told as I am the 3rd party, Amaysim has to deal will them, I first have to deal with Amaysim. Apple stated DOA phones have to be replaced not repaired, so will see what happens .Optus through Amaysim finally gave me the return details, they emailed me a Aussie Post return label, I took it to Aussie Post Office and they packed it and sent it off today. I will updated when I hear from Optus on what's next.

        • Any resolution for you? I've got the same issue. An Optus After Sales Care Team email told me to "check the status of your claim" with optus.com.au/basc. It says "Claim Approved.Your device is on its way back to you. Please allow 3 business days for this to arrive". But, it's way past the 3 business days. I called Optus early this week. A rep said it was decided that I would be sent a replacement device. The rep confirmed I should get an update by the today at the latest. No update. I called Optus and used the Optus chat to talk to at least five different people at Optus today but they either hand-balled me off to another team (which ended up being the wrong team), couldn't find my details, didn't know what to do, or told me to go in-store.

  • Ordered mini 12 256gb blue on 7th around 7.30pm. Still bloody no updates!!!!

    • +1

Ordered mini 12 256gb blue on 7th at 7.19pm. Only got an invoice with no tracking number. Also the plan got activated itself. Nothing in AP notification

    • Ordered at similar time and just got notification from AP with tracking number.

      • Same, tracking just popped up in auspost app. No other comms from amaysim except for the invoice without tracking.

  • Ordered on tuesday 7pm for a 128gb green iphone 12 mini, still haven't gotten tracking, what is up with the wait? gonna be an entire week and no shipping link

    • +1

Hopefully we hear something today! I spoke to live chat on Saturday and they said to expect something 'within the day', that didn't happen. Pretty annoyed at the lack of clear communication at this stage.

      • +2

I contacted them yesterday afternoon and they ask me to wait (and said they will wait with me as well lol)

        ==========

        ***** **** 05:21:02 pm

Ok do you mean it hasn’t been shipped actually?

        Hence G 05:21:06 pm

As I can see here that it is processing to be deliver out, the courier will update you via email and the tracking number will be sent to your via email.
Sorry for that, what I mean is it is processing to be deliver out.

        ***** **** 05:21:49 pm

But there is no tracking number, is it normal?
Are you able to see the tracking number from your system?

        Hence G 05:22:54 pm

As of now, we are also waiting for the courier to generate and send the tracking number.

        • +2

I dont believe their fulfillment and dispatch actually worked on Sunday. Instead of making up answers as they go, they should have simply said so. It has been a disaster for those like us which have nothing and also those which are DOA. Some said that this is the best deal ever, well not for us.

      • +1

I just got onto the live chat again, they couldn't give me any new information. I got them to escalate it and they gave me a ticket number, we'll see what happens.

  • Order from VIC. Response from them:

here are some updates. Normally outside NSW, delivery timeframe is 3-5 business days. However, from an update we have just received, since there's an overwhelming amount of orders in the last few days resulting in some technical issues. Our team is working on the next steps to find a resolution. Please bear with us. We'll update you soon on the progress of your order. Actually once it's resolved and shipped out, tracking number will be provided via email then.

    • sydney north shore area, around 6pm 07/02 ordered, still no logistics track number generated for me.😡

  • Ordered on 4pm, 7th. delivered today. Blue 256gb. Sydney Metro.

  • Still nothing for my blue 256. I feel painful and have some mental issues now.

    • +2

Same, I've refreshed the Auspost app hundreds of times. Think I'm losing my mind…

  • +1

Anyone else waiting for the order ?

    • same here

    • Me

    • I just got notification in Aus post app. ordered 256 in blue around 7:45pm.

  • Seems no proper response from Amaysim 😭

    • nice! i thought my 1st gen iphone se was ancient . .

  • Hey guys is there any way to get a tax invoice for the phone

    • +2

I spoke with the customer service on Friday requesting for the invoice. They raised a request and asked me to wait for a day. Nothing came through till 2:30pm today, so I called up again the case was escalated to the "team leader", received the tax invoice within 5 mins.
