Fibre To The Node nbn 50/20 $2.08/Day ($63.27/Mth); nbn 100/40 $2.80/Day ($85.17/Mth) (New Customers, First 180 Days) @ Launtel

EARLYADOPTER

*Discounted prices valid for 180 days from when you activate a service. After that the rates are $2.20/day (=$66.92/mth) for 50/20 and $3.00/day (=$91.25/mth) for 100/40. (From CIS for Fibre TO the Node)

Launtel is a small ISP run by ex Cisco engineer(s).

They have a 7 day free trial to see if the connection is right for you. No questions asked port out during the trial period.

The only ISP where you can pause, cancel and change speeds in minutes. You’re able to change between 25/5, 50/20, and 100/40 in the dashboard. No costs to do so.

Charges are done by the day. Not by the month.

Launtel runs a non congested network with public CVC charts for each POI.

Static IP is available. For techies out there I assume Launtel will be a comfortable home for your NBN connection. $0.35 a day or $150 for the life of your connection. Refunded when you no longer need it.

Network is Vocus and seems solid. Netflix and Amazon direct connect in place. Speed tests constant at all hours. So far the service and speed have been better than Aussie. Speed tests for downloads from Google were solid and so too were overseas downloads from Digital Ocean.

We have an FTTN connection and it’s been fine - no dropouts or speed issues. Changed from 100 to 50 and back to see how that worked. All of which took a few hours to switch up and down. No fuss.

Please note discounts appear to vary by suburb and location and connection type.

        • Thanks guys, we are in Perth (joy) joined the fb group so hopefully gaming wise not too different lag than superloop

    • How much it costs?
I am in Sydney. I just look at the price, it is $3.00 per day for 100/40, not $2.80/day.
Is that any further discount if I use a referral code?

      Thanks.

      • $25 credit with referral code

  • Signed up fot FTTN, churning from Superloop.
On vocus hardware so will see how quickly superloop drops out/Launtel kicks in

    • +1

      well that was easy
already cutover, superloop already detected and confirmed cancel by sms

      Simple enough :)

First speed test shows no difference/issues

also, not sure why it shows expired. the 'early adopter' discount still applies, though depending on location might be marginally more than the OP's pricing details

      • That was a quick porting. Mine is still waiting for more than 2 hours now.

  • I churned from superloop yesterday to Launtel. I'm on HFC with a Vocus POI, and it churned with an hour, which was much faster than I was expecting. The call wait time for Launtel was also incredibly short (less than 2 minutes) today (a Saturday, before 5pm)

  • +1

I'm getting $2.28/day not $2.08 for 50/20, the discount code section is greyed out and already entered "EARLYADOPTER", has the price changed?

  • +2

Just got connected today, after my area came online last week. Blazing along with 98mbps downloads when I was on 14mbps ADSL yesterday. I am a happy boy.

    • +1

How's the reviews eh, literally everyone is happy, can't be more happy with a post :D

  • I have a question, which may have already been asked previously. Let's say I will connect it to 100 Mbps today and next week I would like to downgrade to 50 Mbps. Do I still pay for 100Mbps price or will also go down ? Thanks

    • You pay by day, so sometimes I blast up to a fast and cool 100Mbps of which I don't see, because FTTN, then I sit at 50Mbps because of price and the fact we get it. So one day I pay $2.80 the next $2.20. :) Same goes for 1000Mbps in TAS FTTP you can do $8 something for 1000Mbps a day then tomorrow drop to 25Mbps for $2-3 something. Pause, delete, add a new line, it's very flexible.

        cheersa

  • My FTTN speed is 68.88 download and 17.30 upload with ping 80 ms. And it is from Launtel to AARNet Perth. Why I cannot reach higher than 90 download ?

    • Fttn, did you have a connection previously that achieved those speeds?

Being stuck on fttn, like I am, you're stuck with whatever you get generally

      • Well, when I was with Superloop, I can reach 48 with 50 plan. Nbn guy said my line can reach 100

        • unless you've tested it before with such speeds, its unlikely the 'nbn guy' could tell if you'd actually get that speed
its copper, so quality, distance, joins etc all interfere with theoretical maximums

chances are, thats all your line is capable of

    • Check the sync speed on your modem.

      • How do you do that please?

        • Depending the modem. Login and there may be an option to check line and sync speeds.

          • @checkingthisout: My modem said between 20 and 110. When I checked the speed again with my desktop which connectes direct with the modem, it has 79.80 download, but when I checked with my mobile, it is only 25. What could be wrong?

            • @yht: Sounds like the wifi modem isn’t good. I suggest ubiquiti or similar mesh network.

Remember speedtests are ridiculous. Go to steam and try download a game. That’s a real test.

Or go to google and download a 1gb file test from google drive.

Check the max speeds that are obtained and it should be consistent. If you’re maxing our at 75mbps on FTTN well. That maybe it for you. If you’re on FTTC, HFC, FTTB or FTTP contact support.

              • @checkingthisout: Hi there, I got Tenda mesh system and my modem is Telstra Smart Modem Gen II which I have no trouble with Superloop. When you are saying to download 1 gb test file from google drive, is it from wifi connection or desktop which connected directly to the modem ?
                Thanks

Has the discount expired? There is 30% increase even with the code today ($3/day and $4/day for 100/20 and 100/40) when I compare it with the price for 100/20 and 100/40 last week. It is now more expensive than ABB.

    • Discount hasn't expired, still have the advertised rated applied but if I change my plan then I will be forced onto the 30% increased prices. Extremely disappointed with Launtel doing this without warning as I regularly change my speeds on various days.

Most likely I will be changing to another provider if needing the extra speeds as it is cheaper if forced onto the new plans.

      • I was very surprised and disappointed at the same time also. I have dropped them a message complaining why I wasn't notified, and they called back and "explained" that the older pricing wasn't just cutting it and since I was one of the "few" people in that exceptionally low price, they didn't bother even sending an email.
The pro of this is to be able to switch speed on the fly and now if I move up to 100 and drop back, I have lost my old plan.
Will look into Aussie B. soon.

      • They called and said that was an error and returned the price back to normal as advertised in this page.

I actually changed my mind. I might even stay with them after the promo finishes.

      • I think the promotion has expired although the website said it will continue until end of year. There is no change in the per day, with or without the promo code.
I think I may go to Superloop as I am not happy with the international speed of ABB. SL is too expensive for 100/40. Any better suggestion?

  • I tried again today. The code "EARLYADOPTER" no longer works. The price is unchanged with or without the code.
It seems that is now more expensive than other ISP such as ABB for 100/20 and 100/40.?

    • For me (North Lakes, QLD) ABB is $99 for 100/40 per month (unlimited). Launtel is $90 per month (without any discount).

      • For me, in Sydney, ABB the same as yours, but Launtel is $120/month for 100/40, NO discount.

        • Wow!

          • @rye: @seniordoc: 100/40 also shows as $4.00 a day for me which works out to be $121.66 p/m. Thats the same price as 250/25 which is a new offering.
I am in Inner West Syd.
            25/5 = $1.99, 50/20 = $2.28, 100/20 = $2.90. I wonder if they have their pricing right as $4.00 = 100/40 seems like a big increase just for the slight upload speed difference. I can understand $4.00 for the 250/25.

I thought the code had expired a month or so back but see it still shows and as you noted does not work. Perhaps Launtel need to have a "Expired" rather than accepting the code.

They don't really advertise themselves as being the cheapest. Launtel won't be for everyone.
On a personal level, I find it handy for being able to adjust speeds at leisure as for the most part only need 25/5 @ $1.99 per day ($60 p/m) but on occasion when I need can adjust my speed on the day and for just a day or two. Also having a static IP option is great.

I agree, not the cheapest however not that much more expensive than others. When things go wrong (only one drop out so far in last 4 months) Support were on top of it letting us know of the outage and what to expect. Email notifications are also very good when an outage was observed. With other larger Telcos, it is near impossible to find out what was going on and that was assuming one could get through. So all in all, Launtel are great and hope it remains that way.

Referral Code: For those that do sign up. Don't forget to use the link in OP description for $50 account credit for referrer, $25 account credit for referee

  • Does anyone know if you can pause and unpause during the 7 day trial?

    • You could but the 7day trial would still run out as that is based on a date and not number of days.
Edit: I suppose you could ask them if they could pause the trial for you if needed.

      • Yes it's a manual process and not automated.

        • +1

Be aware that the pausing and resuming does not work on weekends and each time I found my requests taking longer and longer to be actioned.

So by my fourth reconnect(4 days) and fourth disconnect (6 days) this service was no longer viable for me.

Support was hit and miss - issues acknowledged quickly (5 stars!) but resolutions took multiple days, and there were days where I had no idea what going on with the service because there was no communication

I have now terminated my service. Its a shame as I would have liked for my money to be going to someone new, rather than a behemoth like Telstra or TPG

(Edit) I also noticed my speed dropped by 5mbs off after my 3rd disconnect which might bother some, but as Netflix still worked perfectly it meant nothing to me

          • @Markusaus: Yes they did say because I'm not directly on their network but the wholesaler Vocus if there was any issues (an there was last weekend) that nothing could be done till business hours.

I said I needed it on Wednesday so thy gave me Monday and Tuesday free.

Also to clarify it's a manual process to put the trial on again but when doing the actual service the unpausing and pausing is automaed.

            • @brisdaz: I just noticed on my credit card statement this morning that Launtel have refunded my last payment. That was an unexpected gesture of kindness as I did not ask for a refund.

  • Can anyone please let me know how much you are getting charged daily for 50MBS ? I would have thought it is $2.08 but looks like they charged $2.28

    • depends on where you are so best to note this.
