@abs898: So sending a dead phone saves me $29

                    • @Mregmi: Let's read my original comment

                      • @abs898: Send nothing and pay $30

                        • @Mregmi: i traded in my dead phone for $30. if i dont sent it, are they gonna charge me anything on top of the security deposit of $30?

    • -1

You can send them a rock. It'll be considered In-eligible device. They'll charge the in eligible device fee, which is equal to the security charge. And the best part is that according to 7.2 (a) (iv), they need to return Your In-eligible Device to You. A pretty good way to stop Asurion from wrongly charging late return fee for non return.

    • +1

Better than being ripped off by that trade-in company

      https://whrl.pl/RgM8hA

  • No emails from asurion yet. Phone was delivered on Thursday, how long did everyone have to wait to hear about the trade in? Also my trade in phone was assessed at $10 but I just noticed the back of the phone has some damage. What's the best course of action?

    • Check what does it say in your order status under Trade In

      • Just says confirmed.

    • My s25 was delivered Thurs morning and I got the email the same day early arvo. The email subject is: Samsung Trade-in: It's time to send us your device.

  • With the reported and youtubed bad reviews of the clear case - (doesn't raise above camera lens, and open front bottom with no protection) do you think there is an option to return them as not fit for purpose?? Not change of mind, but crap protection. I did use the Galaxy2025 coupon worth $100 and ordered a power adaptor too. I ordered 2x phones, so 2x clear cases.

    • it's a sh#t case that's true.

    • Fit for purpose needs to match the description of when they sold you the case. Which in the description it mentions about style, but nothing about being drop tested, or protection.

Therefore according to what they advertised then it doesn't actually fall within "not fit for purpose"

    • +4

Case is slightly above the camera lens otherwise you end up with a bulkly case. The only issue i have is may be the grip. Slippery smooth.

      • I ordered the clear case and then also ordered the clear magnetic case as a separate order. I didn't bother opening the magnetic one after i saw how rubbish the regulare clear case was, and I've now opened a return request.

If i decide to go down the magnetic case path I'll buy something nicer.

        • Samsung would not return the clear case as it was part of the bundle. Need to return whole order.

    • @Melskius even the Samsung Rugged case is shit too. It did not feel rugged just feel like cheap $5 cover from aliexpress.

How is everyone's refund tracking? I have 2 orders, cancelled accessories for refunded the same day for one of them. Email from Asurion at the same time as well.

For the other, I have UpdateError written under the trade in, and no email from Asurion either so looks like it's stuck somewhere and hasn't been marked as "completed"

    • I've received nothing, from asurion or Samsung.

      • Check your order status, what does it say under 'trade-in'

        • Yes, says update error like yours

          • +1

@bogstation: Yeah, so I reached out to chat earlier; the guy said something along the lines: these refunds need to be processed as accessories were cancelled with promotion on them, lol. I'm not sure why one order got through and the other stuck.

I guess we have to wait for at least 5 business days before reaching out to Samsung.

            Did you cancel accessories?

    • +1

My order seems a little different. Delivered in the Samsung app, "UpdateError" under the trade in, however, I did get the Asurion email, but no refund or completion email yet.

      • +3

Yup, so that is stopping orders from being completed in the backend. So until that moves, refund might be delayed

  • Any ideas what the misgrading fee is? Just wondering what they'll do if my device has damage. Is it just get difference between the valuations?

  • -8

Argh, Startrack has seriously gone downhill. My parcel arrived at the local hub at 5:30am this morning and it's going to sit there all day and get delivered tomorrow rather than today.

    • +1

that's why I like parcel locker lately.
mine arrived at the PO at 10am, and obv missed going out with a delivery driver, but if it's a parcel locker you can pick it up as soon as they put it in.

      • Scratch that. They just sent me a message saying it's coming today. Stupidly, their tracking still says estimated delivery by Tuesday despite being onboard for delivery.

    • +3

Talk about first world problems ffs

      • -2

If you have forgotten, this thread itself is about first world problems LOL
Get off your high horse and go elsewhere if you are upset.

For those of you interested with updates regarding the return of accessories in order to obtain a refund, I have some update today

I ordered the S25U with 2 accessories which one of them was the BudPro3. Managed to cancel that immediately after the order which resulted in the Order Summary being updated to show the BudPro3 was cancelled and I received the cancellation confirmation.

Received the phone on 6/2/2025 along with 1 accessory so the BudPro3 was never delivered. In fact, the "Your Item is On the Way" email did not show they would be delivering the BudPro3 so all was good.

Unlike many of you lucky ones, I did not receive an email about the refund. So I chatted with them where they said to wait for 2 business days. As of 07/02/2025, the Online Summary status has changed from "Shipped" to "Delivered".

Today I chatted with them again and they investigated my order. Turned out my order was still showing as "Shipped" at their end (despite at my end, it showed "Delivered"). So that is the reason why they haven't processed the refund. It has not updated the status as yet. It also explained why I haven't received any Asurion email about returning my traded-in phone as yet (normally they are very quick at this).

So another 5-7 days said the man.

    • I'm curious about that as well- I've had the new device for nearly 5 days at this time; yet no email from Asurion about returning the device. Should I wait until I hear from them?

Half considering selling my trade in device elsewhere for a better return.

      • I think it goes something like this. The theory is supported in above comments as well.

Until their system flagged the delivery as complete, they won't trigger the Asurion's email. And because the delivery hasn't been updated, there is no cause for them to provide refund as yet. A few people did mention above that refunds do trigger a few days after delivery and we should just be patient about it.

This situation does support the theory. As soon as I heard the guy said, "It's still showing as 'shipped' on our end", I knew straight way why Asurion hasn't sent me that email yet and also why they haven't refunded me as yet. So I was happy to wait a bit further.

        • my order been updated to delivered, return started for buds3 but nothing from samsung
and no email from Asurion to send trade in device

          • @Aemit: How do you start the return for the Buds3? I am trying to return them but can't see any button on the order page to do it. I thought I saw it but can't find it anymore.

  • Received my S25 Ultra 512GB. Opened the box but haven't set it up yet. Its a slightly big phone for me, probably would've preferred S25 512GB. Now I am thinking I should have gone to JB prior to ordering to check the phone in person.

    • +3

      Opened the box

Sell it privately on facebook marketplace and buy S25 from JB.

      • Thank you.

        • note some people are reporting that base model s25 overheat from new processor (likely because the base and plus dont have the 40% larger vapour chamber)

          • @OZcheepsk8: Has anyone made any general comments on the battery? My battery in the first 24-48 hours was showing worse signs than my S23

            • +2

@burgo101: Coming from an S21U the battery is amazing.
Remember battery usage will be bad for all new devices on the first few days / week. All newly installed apps are awake, the phone is learning usage patterns, and people use new phones more.
For me, I am about 4-5 hours screen on time a day and I am getting 35%ish left at bed time. It's the best battery life i've had on a phone ever.

            • +1

@burgo101: It's usually like that for a couple of days while it learns your usage i think. I upgraded from a base s23 to base s25 and battery seems to be an improvement. Got 6hrs 13min sot (battery at 44%) on the second day of using my s25. This was with ~7hrs spotify playing on the background with bluetooth on. Although i tend to keep my screen pretty dark but I was using about google maps with brightness up to a max for ~1.5hrs.

              • @cc1122: Did you happen to use Smart Switch or do a clean install on the device?

                • +1

@burgo101: I used smart switch and brought across everything.

            • @burgo101: this is very normal. I've upgraded multiple times since the S21 and each time its done this for first few days. after a week you will see the improvement.

Samsung just called and advised that they can't refund the accessories that I tried to return. I guess they closed the loop this year.

    • have you sent the accessories back to SS or just made the cancel request?

      • +2

Only started the request. Couldn't send as they still need to accept the request first.

  • +3

I cancelled my accessories before loophole was closed. Received my phone today 4 hours ago and just got automatically refunded the full amount of the accessories ($204).

    • +1

Also cancelled my second accessory before loophole was closed. Received early Thursday but still nothing on the refund.

      • +1

check your trade-in status in the order. I did 2 orders, and one of them is stuck.

    • +1

same here. received a refund and email me a credit note.

  • +2

Samsung also just called me earlier this morning and advised that they can't refund the accessories (Buds 3) that I tried to return through the order page after receiving it.

No biggie, sold it on FB Marketplace already for $150

  • Where do people get the instructions to send the phone back ? No email from Samsung for trade in postage label

  • +2

    Chat can't do accessory refund

I sought assistance with our back office for returns, we're unable to process your request for the return of the buds itself given that this is bundled with a promotion. If you return the buds, the whole order needs to be returned too.

  • is it still too early to asked if people who chose not to send their "trade-in" phone to Asurion, did they get charged? and if yes, how much?

    • Is it better to send something? So you don't get charged the late return fee and they only keep the security deposit?

      • +1

They way i see it, if you are sending in something different to what you traded it, all that means is that you sent them in something that isnt related to your trade in and your actual trade in will still be late or non return so should still get charged late return. Thats how it should be imo.

      • you could trigger the mis-grading fee

        • Which is the value of trade in

          • @Mregmi: This is what I meant, so you only lose the value of the trade-in and won't be charged the late fees of up to $60? The mis-grading fee is basically the value of the trade-in?

            • @atom1319: I sent an old S7 in yesterday instead of an iPhone 13. Will let you know what happens. Hoping for the result you have mentioned.

              • @chickennix: Is there any update? Someone got the below email. I thought it would be only the fee up to $60 but the email mentions reversal of any discount voucher?

Thank you for taking our call today.

To provide you with the update on your returned trade device, we've received a sealed and delivered envelope with a wireless earbud instead of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Bluetooth 44mm.

This is to prevent any late fees or reversals of any discount vouchers. Please use the attached e-label for your convenience in returning the declared device.

                Thank you!

                Regards,

                Samsung Trade Up Team

    • Too early. Hasnt even been 14 days since first orders received which is when they have to receive it by. Then they have to process it

  • Anyone cancelled the assesory before the delivery and got refund?

Post delivery of the order, I followed up with Samsung and they said they can not issue refund as a voucher was used. So even after paying for the buds I can not get them. Rep said they will escalate it.

    • +1

i received refund for the Buds after the date of delivery. They sent me an email notifying me the refund of bud and a credit note attached to the email

      • Thank you. Spoke to Samsung again (this time on call) guy said wait for 48hrs. Delivery was done 3 days back. Status on the tracker says 'Delivered' (except for buds - Cancelled)

    • Same for me

  • With samsung refusing to return the earbuds , any ideas if worth selling them and where? I don't use earbuds >$40 as i lose them easily

    • +3

Probably best to hold off a bit since now they are flooding the market place and eBay. Also retailers having sales too. i.e Buds 3 is only $139 at officeworks

      • +1

Wow that is so much cheaper! what the heck, but only in white? Silver is still $208

        white

        silver

      • -1

that's not the pro version. pro is $277

    • +2

I sold my brand new buds3 pro for 200 cash today. Not too bad.

      • Not bad mate… might advertise mine
        Cheers

  • Received my base S25 256GB today, along with Bud 3 and a case. $622 + expecting a $30 penalty

  • Received my order today, S25 Ultra, Jetblack 265, and clear case.
Unfortunately I am missing my Buds 3 Pro, and my screen protector which I ordered too! I contacted Samsung and they are going investigate why I didn’t receive it and possibly send me my items. I checked with the post office and they only had one parcel. So frustrating!!

    • Ask them for a refund…

  • I definitely will

  • Ordered on the 2nd, samsung shop app says get by 13th. Do you get a shipping notification? Really need it to arrive ontime as I go overseas in a week and have to send in trade in as well. I'm supposed to have the phone in 2 days, how quick is the delivery process?

    • My understanding when you see get by, that should be pretty accurate. Mine still showing as ships from. When you see an imei being assigned or cancel button being greyed out, that should mean you have been assigned a phone

      • Canel button has been gone for about a week. No imei.

        • You will hopefully get your phone soon. Watch your auspost account as people reporting they often see notification about delivery from there first rather than samsung.

          • @Abzd: Just got shipping notification, so yes should have it by 13th.

            • @Melskius: Thats great! Im still waiting mine, says ship from 20th. Enjoy your new phone!

              • @Abzd: Startrack did a not home tried to deliver note in mailbox, still not back at post office by the time they shut, i will have to find out where the phone has gone tomorrow so I can collect it.

  • -2

i used the $1 trade-in hack to order. what happens if I don't send any device and the payment method used no longer works when Asurion tries to charge the $30/60 admin fee?

    • you wont get charged the fee - but they will probably blacklist your account/email. Let us know how it goes

    • Not sending the device and coping up the fee is fine as its within the T’s and C’s, but don’t risk your credit just to save $30/60 by using a payment method that won’t work when they try to charge you the device non-return fee.

  • On a side note to all the recent s25 user's;
My S25 Ultra has significantly worse battery life than my s23 Ultra(1.5 YO)
Yes, It has gone past the 48 hour optimisation stage.
I dont game or do anything intensive. Stream and social scroll mostly.
Judging from some online complaints on SD elite, should I keep my old phone and return s25U? What are everyone's experiences with battery life on their new handset?

    https://www.phonearena.com/news/Some-Galaxy-S25-buyers-alrea…
    https://www.reddit.com/r/samsunggalaxy/comments/1ibc46u/real…

    • Noticed a huge improvement over the s23u battery. My s23u would always die by early evening whereas I'm around 30+% with the S25U. Maybe try another reset?

    • Are you using any objective measurement? Or is it just your anecdotal experience?
I run accubattery on both my S21U and S25U and I can see in data that my screen in and screen off time is vastly improved. If you are just going off your anecdotal experience perhaps download some battery apps on both phones and compare properly.

    • Did you use smart switch to transfer everything over? If there was a rouge app then it might have been transferred from your S23U.

    • I've never used an ultra but i think one of my older Samsung phones (S8?) was in the battery learning/ optimisation for about a week. Might be the case for you as well. Also, try keeping track of your actual sot through settings > battery > select since last charge on the dropdown list > tap anywhere around the graph. You can see what apps are consuming battery, your sot etc. if you select each app individually, it'll show the sot, background etc usage of each app.
