Apparently everything i link is affilate or spam… search Meiyan mototola edge 50. Wouldn't call it rugged but there are limited options bought it from Ali express. Can't find any good cases like from Spigen or Otterbox etc…

Mod Edit: This is the link above.

    • +1

      Can't share the link here.

Look for Xundd case in AliExpress. I have ordered one for mine. It was around $10.

  • Can someone help me?

I purchased this and got deducted $200 from my bank account via Apple Pay.
Later got an email saying “payment failed” and no trace under payment history
Contacted eBay support and said it would be back within my account within 24hours (still hasn’t been credited).
I’ve contacted the seller on Friday and they have not responded.

Is there anyway to get my $200 back? Should I contact the bank?

I asked eBay whether I could still get the item for $200 given it has been deducted from my account and got this response -

“Allow me to inform you the seller have stocked out the item when the code was eligible on the item and then they relisted it hence the code expired and is no longer available for the item.”

    • if payment is failed, then it hasn't gone from your account.

      • Yeah, that’s what you’d think. But on my online banking I have been deducted $200.

        • If you have received a payment failed email and haven't received a Tax Invoice from the seller by now, you can safely assume you will be receiving the hold on your $200 to be lifted from your account in the next day or so.

          • @MCWRC: Ok good to know. EBay said 24 hours but I’m guessing business hours.

  • +3

Wow got the 'your item is coming today' email when I was only expecting it in Jan based on what it said on eBay.

It seems in all the rage people have shown here, OP hasn't been thanked enough for sharing a great deal. Thank you OP!

    • +3

      Thanks. Enjoy the phone.

      • +1

        Thx mate!

I contacted Sydney Mobiles and got the below response. Don’t think they or eBay are looking to do anything about it as each is telling us to contact the other lol

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you’ve experienced with your recent order. We understand how frustrating this situation can be.

Due to a high volume of buyer check out simultaneously, we allocated the initial qty of 200, however we notice there over thousand checkout at same time, some order gone through some bounced back for the number of issues. Both seller and eBay has an unexpected surge in traffic. this led to only 200 orders processed at first load, but we increased to 650 to allocated more order gone through however still lots orders processed unsuccessfully or some order went through when they checkout slight later.

While it may appear that stock levels are added later on, the voucher code issue arose from technical limitations beyond our control. As these codes are issued directly by eBay, we are unable to generate new ones or extend them from our end. if you have further concern, we recommend you reaching out to eBay customer support provide feedback or request for further assistance on how to resolve any voucher-related concerns.

We truly value your business and thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. If you have any additional questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to us for assistance.

In other words, it was a lottery, as it has always been. The only issue is some didn’t miss out up front, but had to go through all the payment issues and false hope. I’d put the blame squarely on eBay for dropping the ball hard on this instance. It’s not like it was the first time they got this. Might be some technical glitches? It’d be great if eBay would compensate the affected users with a new coupon but I wouldn’t bet on it. There are always many other great deals (and yes lotteries as well) to come though.

      • Usually the order doesn’t go through once sold out. This time it did, so it’s unacceptable. There was clearly an issue with the payment system. They really should provide some sort of compensation.

  • +1

    Just got a dispatch notification

  • +3

Mine is on its way, standard free shipping. Thanks again OP for posting this deal.

Some people need to get over it. I missed out on the $400 dishwasher deal the other day. Order was accepted by eBay then cancelled by TGG. I didn't shake my fist at sky or OP, I sucked it up. You win some you lose some.

  • It was always going to be a lottery to nab the phone when the units were limited. The deal was excellent. The OP isn't at fault. The seller isn't at fault. The shitty eBay system failed.

The only shonky part on the seller was the sneaky $15 last second shipping fee, which gets promptly refunded/credited by eBay upon request.

  • +1

Received tracking, thank you OP for organising this amazing deal

  • Received tracking info as well. Arriving between 16 Jan to 22 Jan. Anyone else getting the same delivery time frame?

    • +1

      Same here.

      • Thanks!

    • +1

sounds like an error. as op noted in an earlier comment:

Update 29/11 6:46PM: Most orders should be fulfilled by the seller by Monday, not January.

      i wouldnt stress

    • +2

That's the eBay default from the bad listing info.

You'll get it in a few days from AusPost, check your tracking instead when it updates.

  • +2

tracking number received, not bad for a scam. tysm op!

    • aaand arrived! so the deal was definitely real. who wouldve thunk it

  • i received the tracking number as well, but auspost status states - Label created by sender
doesn't look like it is with auspost yet, however, being the busy period, scans may not be up to date.

  • +3

Parcel is on the way! Thanks for a great deal OP, condolences to those who lost the eBay payment processing lottery.

  • +4

Got shipping update it’s shipped via express post (I didn’t pay for shipping) and arriving tomorrow, thank you so much Op best Christmas present

  • +1

  • On the way - Have to try Ebay to recoup $15 shipment fee lol

  • +3

Purchased one of these from Harvey Norman today @ $350.
It is a pretty impressive phone for that price having come from an iphone 12.
The box includes a USB-C charger, USB-C cable, and an actual protective case which was a nice surprise.

  • +2

Expected Tuesday 3 December VIC Metro xD

  • +1

The case it comes with is horrendous. Also, for anyone wanting to use a screen protector, this isn't actually flat like my S23, the edges do curve enough to make glass a likely non-option. I bought some cases & various screen protectors from AE to test out what works best.

    • I usually like the flat back and no sides case. When they are well made, they melt into the back of the phone and keep the side grip feeling nice.
Even better are 2-piece bumpers, that are just small strips of rubber that glue to the the top and bottom of the phone. In hand you barely touch them.
On high end phones with a nice hand feel, less is more.

This one is a bit too wide though. Don't know how the hell they've managed that. Let us know if you find a good case.

For screen protectors, try hydrogel. I find them best on all screens. No impact protection, but the closest to feeling no screen at all.
Get a few spares though, the edges lift after a while

    • Yeh didn't like the case that came with it.
I actually quite like it with our case. The back texture is good to hold, just the right amount of grip.

I did order screen protector and cases from AE too but I've got a feeling that being used to the phone without it's going to feel chunky and heavy.

I did order a screen protector with a set of lens protectors too so might just try with those if they don't affect the camera noticeably and go without the case.

Will see how the screen protector I got fits. The Xiaomis I've had previously have always been a little tricky with their "2.5D" screens as well. Protector usually ends up being slightly smaller than the screen

  • +4

Thank you @shxhshzhz for the amazing deal. Good work.

  • +2

Thank you OP. Mine is expected to arrive tomorrow.

  • +1

Thank you OP. You save me a lot of money on a decent phone for my wife.

  • +3

Maybe I'm a unicorn based on the comments but thanks OP and mobilecity, paid the advertised $200 and got the phone today.

    • me too! just picked up at the local post office as I was taking a piss when the delivery guy came

      • +1

Yeah, they don't like being pissed on.

  • +3

Just on the seller, because I can't let things go. I messaged them about the $15 shipping. I asked for them to explain why some people paid it, whilst others did not & yet everyone received the same express shipping.

Their response was that eBay pays for the shipping on behalf of members and that the seller gets the $15 anyway. They pretty much alluded to the fact it was an eBay tactic, since the seller gets the $15 whether we pay for it or not & that they had nothing to do with the shipping automatically changing when the deal went live.

Interesting - but makes sense. No wonder eBay were happy to refund the $15 for anyone that asked.

    • I am on call with them for last 20 minutes and their staff is literally brainless and have no explanation..

    • People paid because they didn't unselect it? After the item updated around 10.01am, the shipping defaulted to $15 but you could simply select the Free option and avoid it.

In the rush to score the deal, most people probably missed this.

I selected the free option, paid $0 postage, and have the phone in my hand right now.

  • 25 minutes on ebay chat and they have sent my request for postage refund to their 'Manual Correction' team… With a follow up email in 3-5 business days…
Phone is at post office pending pickup :)

    • Did you push for cash refund?

My "refund" was a voucher with 30day expiry, which I accepted cause I had things to buy anyway. But took all of a 5mins to resolve.

  • +1

    Delivered today QLD

  • Got off chat with eBay and they issued me a $15 refund, and minutes later the phone was delivered by Auspost without even knocking (it had signature on delivery on the bag).

    • did you receive the refund? i was told i would receive it within 24hours since saturday and still nothing now :s

    • How do you get to chat the Ebay customer service?

  • lol i paid for express shipping and it is supposed to arrive today and last update was melbourne airport at 4.22am this morning.

    • Same update for me - no express shipping

  • +1

    Delivered today Sydney

  • +2

Just want to say thank you for this deal. Managed to get one, perfect for my son, as he has been wanting to get a phone with bigger storage. (His current phone is 128gb). Delivered today.

  • Received mine today and the seal is broken, is that normal? I thought they would come brand new sealed?

    • Not normal. You should contact the seller to get it replaced with a sealed one.

      • +1

Yes i just did, hoping for a positive outcome. Thanks for this great deal!

        • You're welcome. Good luck.

        • Did they give any reason why yet?

    • Mine also arrived with a broken seal.

Also thanks OP for the amazing deal!

      • Oh wow, I'm not the only one then..you'd think that they would check the phones before sending them out…

        • mine also arrived with the seal broken. seems like this isnt just an isolated case.

    • It's common for Mobile Citi to send some phones with broken seals, and in the past, they blamed it on Australia Post.

  • My seal was intact. Those with broken seals, did the phone (or anything else inside the box) appear touched/used?

    • The phone looks new (did not turn it on) but the box had a strong smell of perfume on the inside (it did not have that new phone smell)

      • Mine was sealed but it does smell of perfume as well.

  • +1

the perfume smell is normal. its a motorola thing. phone seems new. and all the accessories are there.

https://imgur.com/a/DUY7TRY this is what it looked liked on arrival.

  • +3

Arrived today, seal in tact, great phone and already set up for my dad. Thanks OP! Also, 78 negs is crazy…

  • Received my phone yesterday but had the seal broken similar to the photos already posted (appears torn rather than sliced).

Apart from the torn seal the phone appears new.

It appears this may be a long standing issue with new Motorola phones: https://www.reddit.com/r/motorola/comments/18kwszc/motorola_…

I've messaged the seller letting them know and asked to exchange it for a unit with the seal intact.

  • Received my device just now, Brisbane location. Device seal was intact and no issues. Nice form factor and easy to handle. Includes a case, charger and cable on a sustainable packaging. When the big players are behaving cheap for not providing a charger in the box, the inclusions in the box are a welcome change.

    • Hey did you have any pre-installed music files or audiobook files? I was going to change my ringtone when I found some random music I know for a fact I didn't download. Mine had a proper seal but still concerned about it.

  • Got mine yesterday, setting it up. Feels much nicer in hand than the Samsung A35 I got from Amaysim a few weeks ago. Compact size is great.
Software seems better than Samsung, and less laggy. The buttons and speakers seem worse but that's pretty minor. Both have great screens.

Both phones are amazing for the dirt cheap prices paid. A35 is better for watching videos, but the compact size and lighter weight makes the Neo an easy winner for daily use

    • Hey did you have any pre-installed music files or audiobook files? I was going to change my ringtone when I found some random music I know for a fact I didn't download. Mine had a proper seal but still concerned about it.

      • Hi.. Just checked, there are no pre-installed music files. everything is empty, except the standard built in content.

      • Nope, but in the ringtone list I found old audio files and recordings that I recognise from 5 years and a few phones ago. Not sure if they were copied across during transfer or if they're just taking up space in my google account somewhere.

Quite likely this has happened to you too, scour your old phone and google account for any buried files. You might have downloaded that music 10 years ago and forgot

  • My new one for $350 from Harvey Norman definitely had seal intact. It was a white motorola "M" (with motorola printed under) sticker on just the one side of the box.

It is very strange they would ship out with the seal broken unless the phone itself was a display model of sorts. Maybe they switched out the charger as it was a foreign (non Australian) targeted model?

Check the motorola sticker on the box with the IMEI details and see if it has the R-NZ tick (Radio New Zealand)

    • I just checked and it does indeed it has a R-nz tick.
Does that mean this was a New Zealand model?

  • Mine has arrived, seal intact.

  • eBay dropped the ball and instead of investigating my issue, they added me to a list of users who were not able to get the phone and sent me a $50 voucher.

The issue I had was that the order went through with the voucher and the order confirmation confirmed that the voucher was applied to the order (You saved AU $497.99 on this order.)

However my account was charged $697.99 and the site also reflected that. On a hunch I tried to use the voucher but it said that it was already used by my account.

The ebay support staff that told me to screenshot the confirmation is a legend, he saved me such a headache. Even though the issue was escalated I have a feeling no one actually looked at it, ebay support has written up a report and have re escalated it, lets hope something comes of it, worse case I can just return the phone.

  • +1

Seems like some ppl flipping it at eBay, gumtree, fbmarketplace for $500-600 ish.

    $200 buy.
    Then flip it for $550
    Easy peasy profit. Done.

Noice IF, a big IF, you can sell it for that pretty penny.
Anyway someone must be desperate to buy it at $500 when sale price from big retail stores sold at $350 flat.

    • How's the warranty on this on sell?

  • received mine today, sealed.
got in touch with ebay live chat and got the 14.99 refunded.

  • received as well today, seal intact though seemed a little damage/moved around (likely due to slight size difference between the box and lid).

  • +1

Received mine today (WA) seal intact. Thank you OP and seller. Just in time to go on holiday and claim GST!

    • How so? Isn't the minimum spend for the GST refund scheme $300? Also, was going to ask what paperwork you got with your delivery - as I didn't receive any.

      • +1

The tax invoice received by email from the seller is for full price at $697 with no mention of us paying only $200. Also, the GST component is calculated at full price.

        GST: $63.45
        Grand Total: $697.99

        • Oh, that's awesome! I'll reach out to them.

          • -3

@dubo1981: Yay for committing fraud and posting about it on the internet!

  • Mine arrived today in Melbourne. Seal intact. I am surprised all of these drama happened. Sorry for all who could not manage to snag one. Got this for my father in law for his birthday.

  • +2

Thanks. Got mine today. Seal intact.

  • AusPost shows the item was sorted at facility for two days now. Is this normal?

    • +1

It's not unusual, especially in busy times.

  • +4

FBMP is filling up with these. I get the opportunistic buy & flip for quick profit, but I kinda hope they can't sell given those who missed out here :)

    • And they're greedy too. Within 20kms from me there are 5 listed, ranging from $400-$600. I guess the $350 BF deals are over, but these will be $350 again with a few weeks.

  • +1

Received mine 2 days ago - seal was intact but did look like it was bumpy
