  • So back in game now for something under $200
Hopefully some deals will popup on these:

Should we tag @AHUANG for explanation or ebay?

  • +3

Ebay gains a lot of plus members.

    Ban this seller

  • +5

Great way to entice people to join ebay plus!!
I'm curious to know why the item came back in stock immediately after the code became invalid…

    • 💯 but some people think it's eBay's fault 🙄

  • +1

I've got a theory about the dealer adding postage (bit of a dirty bait and switch with free postage) and eBay just getting overwhelmed

Loser: The first people went through without postage and got cancelled. Whether it is eBay or the vendor or both screwing….

vendor adds postage, first orders cancelled

Winner: got the deal with postage, just after it was added. I got a message during every the dealer had changed the deal and had to reenter the code.

Loser: late comers that failed out and they ran out of phones during processing. eBay fail.

I think I'm in the second group. Money has been taken, fingers crossed

    • Sounds about right. I clicked it as fast as The Flash. Enjoy my Phone Lool

    • Sounds about right.

  • -1

i dont understand why if money was never taken out of your account you'd bother go to the effort of contacting seller, ebay, accc, etc. sounds like a waste of time and a self-scam, no?

frustrating situation though, i appreciate that.

    • +5

Either the seller or ebay, or both, are using deceptive practices, we end up with these issues because no one does anything.

Also just because the $200 didn't come out of peoples account that doesn't mean they are not out of pocket, these are ebay plus deals, which is not a coincidence, the deals are designed to promote and increase ebay plus subscriptions, and there will be people who subscribed and paid the fee to access the deal which was ultimately a rug pull.

So your position is essentially people should simply accept these deceptive practices if there was no monetary impact.

I would have to disagree, i think it is important that companies are held to account for this rubbish.

  • How may people inadvertently paid full price after code failed?

  • I got stinged with extra $14.99 express parcel delivery but didn't pay attention as I was rushing to finalise payment.

I received order confirmation but it says ETA is 17 Jan. WTH!!

    • I spotted it but got it anyway. Sour taste though. Mid January delivery is just crap. Uncool

    • Yeah I nearly did, I had to change it to free. I wasted a few extra seconds because I knew i would be disappointed in the end

  • -1

    Ozb just wasted time… again

  • +6

Scam. In the ebay app it was showing the order has been confirmed. Another 5 minutes no where i can find the order details. After a minute received an email stating that the payment issue pay again.

Potential scam to increase the ebay plus membership count???

  • +4

Move on guys. There will be another phone deal around the corner. There always is.

    • But 12GB of RAM! My Pixel 6a only has six widdle gigs :(

  • PAID AND MY BANK REJECTED THE PAYMENT HAHAH, SHIT. EBAY CANCELLED MY ORDER.

    • -1

      Seller rejected it

      • +4

I think you’ll find it’s nothing to do with the seller. Why would they reject orders? More likely to be eBay’s fault.

        • ebay cannot handle ozbargainers

  • +4

I chatted with eBay about the $14.99 postage. I explained "express post" for an item due in 2 months was a simple "bait and switch" tactic. When I first tried to put the other through, it declined saying "seller has changed item…….". They agreed and are "looking into it".

I am not really fussed, given how many others here got screwed out of their order, but I also wanted to make a point of the extra $14.99 the seller is getting, that they shouldn't.

    • +1

Thanks, I'm going to reach out and tell them the same thing. 2 months for "express shipping" is ridiculous. Hopefully they'll refund the postage as it's an Ebay plus deal.

  • +7

Paid successfully with company CC. 2 minutes later order cancelled and fired from my job. What a day!

    • Lol fr?

    • +4

how did you get fired . Is it because you didnt get the deal as per your boss's request ?

  • +2

    Lol

    ebay support
Upon checking the details of the concern, kindly be informed that, we have further reviewed this issue with our back end team and it seems that the item was listed with BFMOTO like you mentioned and where it gave discount at a special price As the item eligible for the promotion is now out of stock. Hence, the voucher is no longer applicable and you will no longer be able to purchase the item at the price you previously tried We request that you be watchful for other promos and act quickly accordingly in days to come

    Me
yes , still here , but i got the purchase confrimation

    Ebay support
I apologise as the number of items listed for the promotion was sold out and only few members that paid within seconds of launching the promotion were able to proceed with the order and as per payments initiation, you seems to have proceed with the payments after the item eligible for the special discount was sold out

    • +4

Not sold out, currently listed still in stock after deal and now showing 10 available with 664 already sold

This deal would be lucky to have more than 10+. Curious to know how many hit the jackpot 🤣

  • +12

funny that its in stock now …..

    • +2

      funny about that….

    • +4

It's showing estimated delivery between Tue, 3 Dec and Fri, 6 Dec too.
Meanwhile, the $200 buyers are waiting until the middle of January.

      • My theory is that this is a cash raise as they have cashflow problems. They will refund everyone in new year.

  • Bummer. This was a bit of a fizzer. I was on the site at 10am and it didn't work. I tried several times. Did anyone get one?

  • Got email saying payment didn't go through.

  • I didn't get one. I used a card that didn't have enough money on it and order still went through on ebay and got the email 4min later saying payment didn't go through so payment doesnt appear to be right at the time of order. There is always a slight delay with ebay orders and confirmation emails and that can affect cashback tracking. ie, if you finish order at 11:58pm, ebay confirms after 12am so cashback ends up being less and this has been discussed before so isnt anything new so maybe that is because of delay of payment processing.
I guess the system was set to only accept x number of orders for $200 and then stop processing payments after that, hence the payment issue emails but still allowed orders to be completed (without payment finalising).
Seemed like a lot of people had in carts/checkout and waited for the code to be posted here but i suspect anyone that did was too late?

  • Well, it was one big waste of time multiplied by the number of people who believed it.

  • +1

Order processed, confirmed on eBay. Then received email from ebay saying payment not processed. Payed with Paypal. So much for deal of the year.. 😂😅

  • +5

LOL it is hilarious they probably had 10 phones and everyone got baited into it

    • Agreed…

  • -5

Anyone knows if this seller has actual shopfront that is searchable on google, so that we can leave a review?

    • That's a bit rough, it's obviously a technical problem.

  • In my commbank app, its saying 200$ is pending also got the order confirmation email.
I am confused. I did not received any cancellation email yet

    • My payment was CBA too, no cancellation so maybe they processed fastest.

    • Ditto! Combank users got lucky?

  • -4

Had to make a call to ebay just to express my disatisfaction! :) After placing my order at 10:01 and having the payment bounce - sounds like the reason is due to the seller changing the item price (in addition to adding the voucher code) after I had placed the item in my cart - seems like that resulted in me being bumped to the end of the queue.

    • +3

I'm sure they care a lot about your dissatisfaction lol in the next meeting they will bring it up with the board about "your eminence" satisfaction level

      • They'd better!!! :) Comment was more to suggest a reason why things glitched and determine what I need to do 'next time'. I'm thinking preloading the item into the cart was the issue here in conjunction with the change in item price.

        • +1

Preloading was not the issue. What you were told was 100% incorrect.

I made a purchase yesterday on another ebay deal, i had it preloaded in my cart, added the promo code when it launched went through the payment process and exactly like this deal it came up with a warning that the listing had changed, i confirmed the purchase (exactly like this one) and the order went through perfectly.

          • @terriblebargainer: Not so much what I was told - but what I was inferring from what I was told… Ok, sounds like it was just random then - that's all I need to know. :)

        • its the biggest shopping day of the year.. even the best servers will crash or lag, on top of that its a banger price so x10 the traffic, its sad that many of us missed out but you sound like a Karen who wants to speak to the manger lol

          • @Roe Jogan: Just so you know, adding a smiley face after a comment usually indicates that it was said 'tounge-in-cheek' - or with sarcasm… Generally interested to know what went wrong. Obviously you have the "fu" and I do not… :)

  • Reminds me of the year, maybe last year when there were daily deals like this for very cheap apple airpods, it was a lottery

  • Managed to snag one haha rip JAN 2025 delivery haha

    • +3

The bigger rip is $15 "express delivery" in 2 months.

      • Haha my thoughts too

      • +7

Plot twist. These become widely available for less than $200 before the $200 buyers receive theirs in the middle of January.

    • Am I the only one who got express delivery for free with an ETA of December 2-3? Well, not long to wait and see I guess!

      • I caved and paid for the delivery. I didn't want to risk taking too long. Transaction processed ok.

Going to be pissed if I paid extra and that was for extra slow shipping.

  • +3

Created an account to share my experiences. I managed to buy the phone within the first minute of its coupon release. Said order was confirmed then 6 minutes later, get an email saying, 'your payment didn't go through, let's try again'. When I refreshed the page afterwards to check the stock at the time, it said only 200 was sold so far at that point. With 600 total being sold within the next 3 minutes. Were other people just faster than me? I'm guessing what happened was, many orders were placed at the same time and payments like mine got declined once the coupon limit reached 0 quantity. With multiple orders at once, I'd also expect for the lag in quantity updates to be accepted temporarily, to later decline your payment.

  • -1

Payment failed because we were too slow and it sold out at that price (there is no requirement for them to sell ALL the stock they have at that price and they are more than welcome to jack it up after the alloted amount were sold),and you will get nowhere with the ACCC as the promo was honoured (some people reported successful transactions).
You signed up for ebay plus knowing you could miss out on this deal so that is not a valid complaint.
With what was probably 1000s of orders in the first minute is it difficult to imagine that other people won out over you?
Stop crying, don’t leave hate on sydney mobiles and move on.
btw i signed up for plus to get this deal asw, bummed but thats the gamble of bargain hunting sometimes you win sometimes you lose

  • +1

    Update on this post

    • order wasn't cancelled by seller
    • instock will be dispatch shortly.

Order issues are likely to be due to massive amounts of orders being placed all at once which is not normal and not expected by the system.

    • +6

How does it work when people paid at 10:00 got the cancellation order but those who paid at 10:05 got it through? Someone messaged it up???

      • +8

I'm sure the seller can answer how eBays entire ordering system works. Makes sense.

    • How long was the code valid for?

    • +2

      Are you affiliated?

    • +4

Ah yes…. how would they have known that setting a launch time for limited numbers of heavily discounted items would result in large number of orders being placed at once. Not like this is the first day of deals either……

I do love a good old head in the sand negligence excuse, this is equivalent to saying we didn't know the water was going to be wet.

    • +2

How do you know this if you aren't affiliated?

  • +1

    Ridiculous.

    Received an "Order confirmation, thanks!"

    Subsequently a "Payment failed"

  • My friend whos order also got cancelled checking with ebay and they are advising that there was a technical issue from ebay. this is the reply he got from ebay
" I have checked bad found there is ongoing issue on site and our team is working on it to fix the issue however you can repurchase the item with Voucher code the SAVEBF"

    • That SAVEBF only gives $50 off

      • +2

lol ye, he told them to f off
