@shxhshzhz: Oh, it does. Please review the previous comments. Everyone is shocked how and why the delivery times have changed. You are accusing eBay for stuff up, but as soon as you put that promo code in the system, everything changed. It is not eBay's fault. There are always some loops in the system and some sellers are aware of that and know how to use that.

    • Unlucky dude as I signed up for Ebay plus this morning then added to cart, checked the Ozbargain website and it had gone live.
Went back put in the code and ordered and confirmation came back at the same time 10:02, hasn't been cancelled and showing as confirmed and ready for delivery in Jan though!
Site is showing 658 sold in last 24 hours so they must of had a decent amount of stock?

      • Yeah I noticed 80ish sold before the sale. I did the same, added to cart with free delivery. Soon as I entered the code it says seller changed the details and I just hit continue anyways and realized I got charged to delivery fee. Ah well

        • +3

Contact ebay. Tell them ebay plus affords you free express delivery from ebay plus sellers. Regardless of the what went thru. They will refund the $15 (they did for me).

      • -1

My order shows up under the purchases area of Ebay, and checking the "payment failed" sub section. My order time is 10:01. My payment was via an Ebay Giftcard.

Ebay confirmed the issue wasn't with payments, but with stock levels. There was no stock at the time of my order.

So it's really strange to me, how my order was one minute earlier than yours, yet you were able to get stock allocated to your order.

However, having it delivered in January wasn't what I would have expected either, and I'd be annoyed if that turns out to be true.

  • Got one with PayPal pay in 4. Ordered around 10.02 am.

  • Ordered at 10:00 and secured mine. I knew it would be sold out in seconds, saw the postage cost and just copped it without even checking the was other options. Delivery date was a suprise, I hope they improve on that.

  • +3

Did not enter the competition as I know this will run out of stock in seconds.. However turn out drama..
Wonder how Ebay can survive if they continue to treat customers like that..

    • +1

Exactly. I don't think Amazon would even do something like this, but if they did stuff up that badly you'd be compensated.

  • +16

Holyyyyyyy moleeyyyyyyyyyyyy people have been whining about this all day?!? Don't get me wrong - I feel for you guys, but at the end of the day, its a phone and its not really worth $697. I feel like people think they missed out on a $500 saving when in reality, you can get them right now in lots of places for under $350 so at most you missed out on saving $150?

Really not worth all the dramatics and hysteria

    • +8

I agree 100%. But you underestimate how petty ozbargainers are.

For anyone who truly wants the phone $350 is still a great price. As you said, it sucks to miss out on a $200 deal but no one is buying this shit for $700 lol.

    • +2

Exactly! This community has become a bunch of kids pretending to be adults. Its funny that another 4 pages managed to be filled after I wrote my part in the morning. Still sulking at it into Friday night.

    • +3

You don't understand. I went all the way down to the warehouse, it took me three hours. I had a big fight with the foreman…

    • It's weird how we put so much effort into chasing discounts when the real treasure is the whining, drama and hysterics we experience along the way.

  • +1

No one thanking OP for this insane deal that he’s organised?

    • +1

I did. Managed to get one straight away, i was curious why it was $214 instead of $200, then found cheeky delivery automatically selected with code, and changed it to standard one.

      • Thank you. The amount of self centred people on here is frustrating.

        • I did not get this unfortunately due to the payment error message as well. From the beginning, for such an insane deal, I knew it wouldnt be easy to get one anyway.

However thanks for organising this. I dont know how you did it but hopefully this experience will not deter you from arranging another one in the future.

          Cheers mate

        • +2

I’d say entitled rather than self centred. Seems to me there must have been like 30-50k daily users coming to the site everyday looking for deals, many of them benefit from the deals posted here, but only a very small percentage of them upvote the deal and bother to comment at all. And many of them would be quick to complain loudly if things didn’t go their way.

I’d suggest you not to be bothered by that. Your deal is already one of the most popular here, and hundreds have upvoted the deal to approve or support and/or thank you. I know I’m one of them.

          • +1

            @GreenRomeo: Thank you.

quick to complain loudly if things didn’t go their way.

            Very true

        • The amount of self centred people on here is frustrating.

SELF-interest: maybe same trait drive ALL human action, with some demonstrate it without any consideration for others…true-SELF is reveal in time of crisis 🤔

Maybe you'll consider adding a caveat next time ?

  • Phone shipped. Aus tracking provided. It would appear delivery will not be late Jan 25.

  • +1

    my order has been shipped

    • did U pay the extra 15 dollars for postage?

      • +1

nope I changed it to free shipping and paid with gift card.

  • -1

Why this phone is so expensive compared to G84? I could not see any serious differences, RAM and capacity is similar as well and G84 is available for $280ish on sales.

    • It's better in every way. Ram and storage capacity aren't the only things in a phone.

      • Oh right. You mean this one has more buttons?

        • The era of those extra customisable shortcut button phones is over unfortunately

          • @shxhshzhz: Iphone just added it lol
At the expense of the silence switch though, the fools.

            • @crentist: Upgrade in a way, downgrade in another. The switch was very convenient.

    • +6

Why the Edge 50 Neo is better:
      - Supports 10 more LTE bands, 3 more 5G NR bands
      - Supports eSIM
      - Is IP68 resistant vs IP54
      - Has a much brighter display (3000 nits vs 1300), supports LTPO for dynamic refresh rate, HDR and a higher PPI of 460 vs 405
      - Has promised 5 Android upgrades from 14 to 19, where as G84 only promised from 13 > 14
      - Has a 3x optical zoom lens
      - Captures 4K video as opposed to 1080p
      - Has 68W and 15W wireless charging vs 30W charging

The only benefit the G84 is microSD and 3.5mm jack. So there is quite a lot of difference.

  • +2

    unobtainium

    • +3

To clarify, are we talking about the "problem with payment" orders? Are those to be fulfilled?

    • -1

Wait, really? I paid with gift card straight away… Literally no reason as to why they could cancel… But they did

    • +2

Has anyone had any luck with eBay support?

Their response has been the following. Unsuccessful in reviving the order.

I have checked and I can see that while you were paying for the item, the available stock got sold and the quantity is 0. Due to rush in members purchasing the item, the quantity was quickly sold and hence the Payment was not successful.

please be informed that there are many other buyers who have also placed the order earlier when on stock. So as all the orders were placed at the same time so some payment got declined once the item went to 0 quantity.

I request you to kindly check with the seller as the seller is already cancelled from eBay

So kindly contact the seller as we are unable to contact from our end

They will be able to help you if they have confirmed and as for the order it is already cancel from here so please reach out to the seller if they can help you re-order

      Please contact seller

      • Please contact the seller and they will be able to guide you further on how they will fulfill the order which is cancelled

      • +2

Yeah got the same response. Textbook cut and paste!

      • +1

"I request you to kindly check with the seller as the seller is already cancelled from eBay

So kindly contact the seller as we are unable to contact from our end"

        LOL Wut?

  • +4

i regret not buying the pixel 8a on launch for $350 Jb deal that was a real fkn bargain..

  • +1

But,but, but……I got a sales order number from eBay, then the buggers cancelled it.
Not salty with you OP, it’s a monumental stuff up by eBay though

  • +6

Update 29/11 6:46PM: Most orders should be fulfilled by the seller by Monday, not January.

    • +5

Do these orders include ones that received:
      - "Order confirmed, thanks!"
      - A subsequent "Payment failed"

      • If the payment failed, you never paid so how do you expect seller yo honour them lol

        • +4

I received an order confirmation and an incorrect payment failed error. Like most of the comments in here. OP posted saying cancelled orders will be fulfilled.

    • so what do we do, just wait or?

purchased a spot on at 10am Sydney time after, even received an email that the payment did not get through?

    • +1

      Cheers for the deal.

Mine's been already shipped through Aus Post and I should get it by Tuesday.

  • Update 29/11 6:09PM (version 2): All successfully processed orders will be fulfilled, confirmed from seller. Try to get eBay to review the cancellation reasons. Provide as much info as possible to eBay when messaging eBay.

Payment failed errors can only be handled by eBay.

I'm sharing whatever information I can get but I am not the seller so I don't know everything.

    • anyone got luck with this? myself paid with paypal then cancelled; please share thanks

      • No luck here either, generic ran out of items on the deal message. I don't understand how they can show me in the app 'order confirmed' then just do a 180 via email 2-3 mins later.

    • +2

Ebay support said: "I am afraid that is not the official communication done either by eBay or by the seller.

I wish to confirm that only the successfully paid orders would be fulfilled by the seller."

      • +3

Another thing that eBay mentioned is that the promo code was not one of theirs, it was seller initiated. Thus they cannot endorse it. Seems weird, but I think it’s true

        • That'd explain my query last night about where the Coupon code would appear on eBay

Seems it was only going to be published in this Thread on Ozbargain

But wouldnt eBay need to know about the code and the terms to enable the reduction on the price - or is that able to be done soley by the Seller's own eBay site tools?

      • What was the "gift" exactly

        • -2

I guess im getting downvoted because others couldnt get any compensation. Like I said sorry to the others but I guess I got lucky and had the right support member to talk to. I feel bad for everyone that got screwed by this deal, I did too initially. In the end something good came out of it for me.

Ive got the chat with them, posted to my email. Maybe if you guys spoke to them nicely and sincerely you might get something too?

          https://ibb.co/VNkzgFH

  • +1

We already did. They said not enough stock to fulfil order at 10:00am + 20 seconds. However, people ordering 3 to 4 mins later seemed to have got fulfilled

  • +1

just got off the chat with ebay.

the seller has no visibility on cancelled orders, so they can't review the orders themselves.

ebay's hands are tied as per alextmb's comment.

    • +2

ebay's hands are tied as per alextmb's comment.

Ebay knows very well what happened. Their hands are not 'tied'. They just don't want deal with the fallout.

  • +1

    Bottom line,

Is it a eBay Australia stuff up ?
    Or
    Sydneymobiles eBay store stuff up?

I would like some clear insight on this bargain of the century fiasco.
I know some people were successful checking out, but i have feeling that would be the minority.

Say 40 orders were allocated for $200 deal & the remaining stock back to $699. That may be why 6 hundred something units was ordered & from those massive influx of orders, just 1-40 units maximum was allowed to buy at the $200 flat promo price.

The rest got the unsuccessful payment notice few minutes after order confirmation email/notice.

But in the end of the day we are talking about a mobile phone afterall, maybe we might get lucky next time.

But the execution was done very poorly by eBay Aus or Sydneymobiles store or both parties amateur moment when they have been in this business at least 20 years.

Keep hunting for ripper deals everyone.

    • +13

It's almost certainly an eBay stuff up.

Just from the looks of everything, there was some problem with the payment processing, which after ~5 minutes caused many orders to timeout and just get cancelled, and their item allocations to get put back on the product page, allowing others to snap up the deal even though they were much later to submit their orders.

The problem was that 1) most people didn't realise their order was cancelled until too late, and 2) they should have been given a chance to re-process the order if they had a allocation in the first place. There really shouldn't be a reason for someone to submit an order at 10:11 and be successful, while someone who ordered within seconds of the deal going live missed out. It's one thing to miss out on a deal that you just weren't fast enough, but to miss out on something due to an issue you couldn't really foresee really just sucks.

The only way the seller could be responsible would be if it's something they changed triggered the processing failure, but that's not really something they could have known even if that was the reason.

Anyway, I guess I'm waiting for the next once in a decade deal… Cyber Monday perhaps?

      • +2

Sorry, this response is too reasonable. You're supposed to include the ACCC hotline and also tell people who to yell at

  • -1

    Is 70 negs a record?

    • +4
      • +1

oh man I remember that haha. Staff keeping stock behind the counter for themselves was gold too lol.

  • -5

wow just got notification that its out for delivery.

    • -3

Seems I am really rubbing into some people’s wound, lol

      • I managed to buy this casually on my 25mbps connection. Some got it, some didn't. I'm not complaining, I'll be getting the phone by 22 Jan. This kinda was a stuff up by eBay, nothing to do with anyone's internet connection I guess. Thank you to OP for a great deal.

    • +4

What an ignorant response. There was an issue with eBay, causing people who got an order confirmation in app to get a payment issue email a few minutes later. Nothing we can do but hope it goes on sale again on a platform that has stable infrastructure.

      • -5

Go grab a beer mate. It is sarcasm to the hysterias.

  • +3

for those who got the deal but was charged $15 shipping cost, ask ebay support to get it back. The process is easy, just take sometime waiting, easy to do while browsing ozbargain for other deals :D

    • i'm ok with it, it was still a bargain at $215

    • Was this meant to have eBay Plus free shipping?

      • One of the perks of eBay Plus is free express domestic postage to metro areas on all eBay Plus items. This was an eBay Plus seller/item so as long you're in a "metro" area, I would expect free express shipping.

        • Thanks - got a refund from eBay support yesterday

  • +6

I bought one last week from JB for $348. Very nice phone that is nice and light, and easy to hold with one hand. I am happy with the price I paid because it represents good value for money when you consider the specs. I know that it nibbles and bites at the psyche of any true OzBargainer on missing out on such a great deal, but I would still recommend this as a buy at $348, and if it goes even lower over the rest of the Black Friday/Cyber Monday period then even more so.

  • Paid for express and already got it

  • -3

🚨 I placed an order through your bungled deal. I paid for express shipping, but the phone hasnt shipped yet. I'm starting to get a little worried, as I was hoping to have it in time for my upcoming trip to the moon. I understand that things can get hectic, especially when you're dealing with a high volume of orders, but I would really appreciate it if you could give my order a little extra attention.

    Service Price
    Express Parcel Delivery $14.99

    Listing states:

    • Fast Dispatch On All Items
    • Same Business Day Dispatch

🏃 I'll be waiting by the mailbox.

  • +1

Lol I'm late to the party I guess.

I had the phone in my cart ready to go at 10am, used the right code, took me to PayPal, selected pay on 4 and then took me back to my cart saying the sale couldn't go thru because there was no quantity left to sell.

As I was at work I couldn't follow up on it.

But the next morning I noticed PayPal is still sending the 1st payment instalment to the seller (it says pending on the PayPal app).

Contaced PayPal via their bot who suggested I lodge a dispute. When I did so it took me to a screen that said if the sale didn't go through I would be refunded in 72 hrs. I really hope this happens because when I reached out to the seller they did not respond (maybe it was Saturday?).

So I thank OP for putting the deal in Oz bargain but I'm disappointed with the experience. I can only hope eBay or the seller or PayPal can do better next time.

As for me, we'll, I guess I'll wait for the next best deal for this phone.

    • Similar thing happened to me, was deducted $200 from my bank account, only to say ‘payment failed’ yet I’m still $200 short…no messages returned from seller either. I’m sure we’ll get our money back just an unfortunate experience

      • I hope we get our money back without a hassle.

  • Strange how Sydney Mobiles eBay store now have these in stock selling at $447 ($397 with coupon).
Must have just received a new shipment in the couple of days.

    • +1

Wouldnt this classify as Bait and Switch?

    • +4

They likely only assigned a certain amount of stock to the listing but had more stock on hand, it's not like you have to assign your total stock to an eBay listing or go to jail. Lol

  • In real world terms, how much better is this than a S21 FE?

    • You want to buy s21! This upcoming January, they will launch s25. Don't buy old phones especially if it is a "fan edition aka 'fe'".

      • +2

I never said I was buying and S21 - I already own one.

  • Shocked Pikachu face, good advertising ploy or not I guess. Couldn't non rookie ozbargainers see this was a fizzer from the get go? Probably 1 in 200 chance of getting one, $150 of retail price, surprised it cracked 500+ upvotes.

The phone is pretty solid so far (got through another deal), charge every 2 days with the 80% battery saver feature on. Wireless charging works well, haven't tried e-sim yet.

  • +2

My order has been shipped, though Aus post tracking has it still has not gone through.

  • +1

Just received shipping notification, order has been shipped.

  • +2

for those that managed to pick this up for $200, good stuff, its so worth the money. the phone isnt too bad.

  • Guess I didn't have to wait til Jan 7th. got the shipping tracking as well

    • Did you pay extra for express shipping?

      • no just got the free shipping

    • Just got a shipping update email saying it will be expected by Jan 22nd. I hope that is not the case.

      • Nevermind, got a tracking update. Looks like it's coming tomorrow via express.

  • Any rugged case recommendation for this phone ?
