Having problem to use those Ultimate GCs. Just got declined from Boost juice in-store using Ultimate Teens. That was pretty embarrassing. Then, I tried to add the physical GC to both Google Pay and Apple Pay, didn't work.

Enquiry sent but I don't expect them anything. I'll try using them online.

    • I can no longer add any ultimate gift cards to my Apple wallet anymore. No one has been able to provide a solution. Both apple support and Ultumate Giff card support are useless.

      • I didn't know you could add Ultimate gift card to your Apply account and use it as cash everywhere. Is it true? I thought it can only be spent at the dedicated stores mentioned.

    • +11

If your Ultimate gift card had sufficient balance when you attempted the transaction, my bet is that the Boost Juice location you were at updated/replaced the EFTPOS terminal without telling Blackhawk Network (the operator of the Ultimate gift card scheme). From what I gather, Blackhawk Network looks for unique identifiers reported by the EFTPOS terminal to determine whether you are trying to transact at a participating retailer. If a Boost Juice EFTPOS terminal is updated/replaced and Blackhawk Network does not recognise the new unique identifiers, they will decline the transaction. I wonder whether your gift card would have worked at another EFTPOS terminal at the same Boost Juice location.

This has happened before with other participating retailers, and sending an enquiry to Blackhawk Network is the right thing to do, but who knows how long it will take to fix this (if it does get fixed).

Btw, I am doubtful that Ultimate gift cards actually work on the Boost app, but it is always worth a shot.

Thanks for your advice. I totally agree with you

    • Today, it didn’t work in boost juice for me.

Does anyone know if we'll be seeing 15% off gift cards at all this year?

  • How many Pocket Money accounts can one have, with one phone number?

  • +1

Does anyone know if you can exchange multiple TCN cards into a single gift card on their website? I want to buy $3k worth of cards to spend at JB, but don’t particularly want to bring in 30+ cards to use in store.

    • +5

The last 3 occasions I used TCN I could barely exchange one TCN card for a voucher cause their website redemption page is always broken. Keep having to email them to get a direct redemption link.

JB are usually pretty happy to do 20+ cards, just go in the morning/midday on a weekday so its not a busy time. Exchanging the cards 1:1 for vouchers already saves a lot of time for the staff since it's just scan and you don't have to input PIN and wait for authorisation.

      • Thanks really appreciate it :)

Newbie question, but what are the fixed values of ultimate gift cards? As the variable one is excluded.

    • +2

I think they come in $100 denominations

    • +1

Fixed denomination Ultimate gift cards sold at BIG W are available in $30, $50 and $100 denominations, but not all Ultimate gift cards are sold in these denominations. For example:

      • Ultimate Home gift cards should only be sold in $50 and $100 denominations.

      • Ultimate Students gift cards should only be sold in $30 and $50 denominations.

  • +1

    Looks like the ultimate deal.

  • Does anyone know if we can convert this into Officeworks egift card? As I was having issue last time paying with this at OW, because they dont accept splitting payment with ultimate GC.

    • I had no problems using both Student and Everyone to make a small purchase. I was able to use 1 gift card and paid rest with debit card instore

Is it possible to use multiple ultimate cards at Ikea online in a single transaction? Anyone tried?

    • +1

If you have a look at the FAQ page linked in the deal description, there is a FAQ that addresses your question.

      In short:

      • You cannot redeem any Ultimate gift cards on the IKEA website, because IKEA does not accept them as a payment method online. (You can only use them in-store or exchange them through the Ultimate gift card website for digital IKEA gift cards.)

      • Someone previously said they redeemed 188 IKEA gift cards in online transaction, but some other people have talked about running into random errors when trying to redeem multiple IKEA gift cards online.

      • -1

"You can only use them in-store or exchange them through the Ultimate gift card website for digital IKEA gift cards."

Do you know if this can combine multiple Ultimate GCs into one big Ikea GC?

        • +1

The Ultimate gift card exchange portal should only let you exchange one Ultimate gift card at a time. That means:

          • You can exchange one Ultimate gift card for one IKEA gift card.

          • You can exchange one Ultimate gift card for multiple IKEA gift cards (or multiple IKEA and JB Hi-Fi gift cards, as an example).

          • You cannot consolidate multiple Ultimate gift cards into one IKEA gift card.

The only way you can attempt to consolidate multiple Ultimate gift cards into one IKEA gift card is at an IKEA store (and I have no idea whether IKEA staff will let you do this).

@WookieMonster: Thanks. I'm planning to get a big bunch of PAX wardrobes with the upcoming 15% deal. I might have to plan online, then bring the design code in-store and pay (with GCs) in-store? Has anyone done this before?

      • +1

I used 14 $50 GCs from IKEA a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't aware that self-checkout has to be done by staff, but he was polite enough to let me swipe 14 cards.

  • what does it mean if a store is in bold?

Timezone is popular again? Interesting times

        • The double credits deals (e.g. this one) are reasonably popular on OzBargain, so I thought it would be a good idea to highlight Timezone in these tables.

Is pocket money like a debit card? Does that mean I get 15% off real money?

  • So you buy a gift card for 100$ and it has 110$ value?

    • +4

      No.

For Ultimate gift cards, if you scan a $100 gift card, you will only need to pay $90.

For Apple / Uber gift cards, if you scan your Everyday Rewards card and a $100 gift card, you will need to pay $100, you will earn 2000 Everyday Rewards points (equivalent to $10 in Everyday Rewards Dollars or 1000 Qantas points).

For the Pocket Money gift cards, if you scan the gift card and load $75 on it, you will need to pay $75 + a $5.95 purchase fee. You will need to claim the 15% cashback separately by filling out a claim form (but the claim form appears to not exist at the moment).

    • +1

Big W has had +10% value offers before, but this one is 10% off which is better.

      +10% value => cost 100 / value 110 = 0.909 (9.1% off)
      10% off => cost 90 / value 100 = 0.9 (10% off)

  • I am not getting 10% off during checkout when adding the ultimate cards (Adding the $100 and $150 gift cards). Is the deal live yet?

    • In store only

      • Thank you

  • +5

Thanks OP. The usual "mafia" were out in force this morning in Melbourne holding dozens and dishing them out to friends turning up every few minutes. But I managed to get 7 X $100.

Could've got 10, but didn't want to hoard them unnecessarily unlike others. Got a purchase in mind this week.

    • Was it QV?
I was planning to get some tonight but it might be too late…?

      • Yes. Unless they restock, not sure I'd bother.

        • +1

Managed to buy 6x$50 after fortress meetup tonight

  • Can i use the Ultimate giftcards online at JB?

    • +1

Yes, you can redeem them at the regular JB Hi-Fi website (jbhifi.com.au), because the Ultimate gift card says you can. The FAQ page linked in the deal description has a FAQ that specifically addresses your question (and it highlights the limitations you should be aware of).

One thing I will point out is that Ultimate gift cards probably do not work on the various JB Hi-Fi commercial portals (e.g. JB Hi-Fi Business, JB Hi-Fi Solutions).

  • Are Birthday, Celebrate and Everyone Identical? And they would be the pick of the bunch correct?

    • +1

The Birthday, Celebrate, Just For You and Thank You gift cards are identical. They are not identical to the Everyone gift card.

Those five gift cards are probably the most comprehensive gift cards in the Ultimate gift card family, but whether they are the pick of the bunch depends on the participating retailers you are interested in. For example, if you are looking for a gift card that can be used at Schnitz, Xbox, Xbox Game Pass or yd, those five gift cards are useless, because they do not feature those participating retailers.

      • Thanks, was wondering which one to get, good to know these are good choices.
Just for curiosity I compared to see the differences between "Just for you" and "Everyone" gift card.

Random Is there a way to convert these gift card so that i can use them at the post office to pay bill ? I mean I am sure the whole point of these gift card is to prevent something like that.

        • +1

As if anyone would post up how to do that on a public forum.

  • Does anyone know if you can use BigW gift card to checkout?

    • I have tried with WISH cards before - that doesn't work.

  • No pocket money in QV

  • Does anyone know if the 20x EDR points stack with the Everyday Extra subscription?

  • Are we able to merge 12 x $100 Ultimate Everyone Giftcard? or Has anyone tried to purchase using 12 Giftcard at Officeworks?

    • +1

Blackhawk Network will not let you merge multiple Ultimate gift cards into one. Whether you can merge multiple Ultimate gift cards into one retailer-specific gift card is up to that participating retailer.

If you have a look at the related FAQ for Officeworks (which is linked in the deal description), you will see that someone a few weeks ago redeemed 37 Ultimate gift cards in one in-store transaction at Officeworks.

      • +1

Thanks for the response. Ultimate giftcard offered to merge all 12 card as one off thing but have to wait for 3-5 business days. I guess I will call into my nearest officeworks and see if they will let me use my 12 gift card or I will wait for Ultimate gift card team to merge them all. :)

        • You are lucky, because when I asked the Blackhawk Network / Ultimate gift card customer service team a while ago about merging gift cards, they flat out said no! (Hence my skepticism.)

          • +1

@WookieMonster: I think that's the case because the first customer service representative was new and seemed confused and promised to merge everything for me. However, when I was transferred to another representative, they explained that they typically don’t offer that but would make an exception since the first representative had promised it

        • +1

A few months ago i used about 20 cards at Officeworks to buy a phone. Staff had no issues doing it :)

    • i used 25 cards a couple days back for an iphone purchase.

  • Can you use category grocery gift card to pay?

    • No.

      • BIG W should be assigned MCC 5331 (Variety Stores), which is not one of the officially permitted MCCs listed on the Category Choice website for this gift card.

      • I tried to use a Category Choice Groceries gift card in-store at BIG W not long ago, but it was declined with response code 01 (Contact Bank), and the gift card had sufficient balance. It worked fine at Woolworths just now though.

  • What's the highest Pocket Money denomination? And can you use that to then pay for the Ultimate card?

    • There is only one denomination sold at BIG W: a $25-$75 variable load denomination with a $5.95 purchase fee.

I have never heard any reports of BIG W automatically rejecting a DigitalCash card when you are wanting to purchase an Ultimate gift card.

      • Hmm so potentially $5.30 off $75 equating to about 7.1%. $30 + $50 Ultimate cards should be good then?

        • +2

Actually, you should get $12 “cashback” (i.e. a $12 bonus Pocket Money gift card) on a $75 Pocket Money gift card, because in past “cashback” offers (e.g. this one from August 2024), MicroGifts rounded the “cashback” up to the next whole dollar. If that happens again for this deal, it will slightly change your calculations.

Ultimate gift cards are not sold in a $75 fixed denomination, but you can do split payments when purchasing gift cards at BIG W (even at a self checkout, just like Woolworths).

          • @WookieMonster: How does MicroGifts check whether you're eligible for cashback if the form doesn't ask you to submit your Big W receipt?

Do they match the mobile number with the one attached to your Everyday Rewards account?

            • +6

@CVonC: No. This deal does not require an Everyday Rewards card. I purchased one during the August 2024 deal and did not scan an Everyday Rewards card during the transaction, but I still received the bonus gift card. There is also no mention in the catalogue of needing to use an Everyday Rewards card for the current deal.

MicroGifts should have an easy time figuring out whether you are eligible, because:

              • The claim form requires you to provide your name, mobile number and email address of your MicroGifts account.
              • The claim form basically tells you to add your Pocket Money gift card to your MicroGifts account prior to submitting the claim.

When MicroGifts look at your account, they would be able to see the Pocket Money gift cards linked to your account, and they should be able to see information on when and where each of these gift cards were purchased, because MicroGifts should be able to access the gift card activation system for Pocket Money gift cards. If they see a Pocket Money gift card linked to your account that was purchased during the promotional period at BIG W, that should be sufficient for them to deem you eligible for "cashback".

              • +1

@WookieMonster: Thanks ever as always Wookie. I scanned my Everyday Rewards just out of habit and was wondering. Planning to buy 2 of these with 2 different numbers/MicroGifts accounts.

                • +1

@CVonC: scan EDR in habit … to trigger bug
                  I got 76 points this time, worth 40c :)

                  • @test8888: This means the loaded value is eligible for EDR pts, but not the purchase fee.

              • @WookieMonster: How long need to wait for the bonus arrival

                • @bluestick: The cashback claim page says:

All claims are to be submitted by December 11, 2024.

Bonus gifts cards will be sent by email within 14 days of final claim submission date.

In other words, you definitely will not receive the bonus gift card on or before 11 Dec. You should receive the bonus gift card between 12 Dec and 25 Dec.

  • How do the Big W self serve checkouts feel about split payments for gift cards?
