15% off TCN Good Food, Pamper, Active, Shop, Cinema and Choice Gift Cards (Excl. Variable Load) @ Coles (In-Store Only)

3190

Full credit to GCDB

Next week's upcoming Coles gift card deal! Someone did ask about 15% off TCN gift cards.

Limit 5 Gift Cards per customer. Offer valid only in store at Coles Supermarkets (excludes Coles Online, Coles Express and purchases via giftcards.com.au or coles.scanshoppay.com.au), subject to store availability. Excludes TCN Choice Variable Load Gift Cards. Excludes all other TCN Gift Cards not listed above. Whilst stocks last, no rainchecks. Offer valid from 20/11/24 to 26/11/24. Gift Cards can't be used to purchase other Gift Cards at Coles. Refer to individual gift card for terms and conditions.

The best card is TCN Shop, for 15% off Uber/Uber Eats, however Village Roadshow Theme Parks is listed on the "Choice" card, and given theme park tickets are rarely on sale, 15% off is pretty good.

  • For the TCN Good Food gift card, is that you can use it at any restaurant? Thx

    • If I recall correctly, some restaurant terminals did not work with this particular card.

    • Also, is this the one where you can only use by EFTPOS swipe or is it one you can add to mobile wallet?

    • best ones are restaurant choice. I like when you get a discount on those with variable load.

      • +2

Yes agreed. $500 is so convenient to use.

      • Unfortunately it is not for this deal, I bought 2 $500 TCN choice at Coles then forgot to check the amount. Ended up bought the gift card without any discount and cant even return or exchange.
        BEWARE!!!

    • -1

Will it be available to use at coles or woolworths?

      • ? This is for restaurants etc

    • Like restaurant on uber you mean?

  • +15

Thanks OP. Will wait 15% for something can be used for apple/JB/OW though.

    • +3

If you buying a computer, might be worth checking the apple on campus price and combine with woolies current offer on gift cards. Might work out cheaper than 15% plus you get to customise your laptop if you were considering that.
      https://www.apple.com/au_edu_5000447/shop/buy-mac/imac

      • Or maybe they want to combine AOC with 15% :/

        • But they were happy with jb and OW discounted card too so 15% off RRP seems to be their goal here.
And also it isn’t like 15% off apple gift cards comes every other week. Might need to buy a computer/ipad before we see that again if ever.

  • +1

Been a couple years since bought TCN ones. I seem to remember depending on version they had JB, Good Guys and Officeworks. Looks like they are no longer included?

    • +3

They still have those, just not these specific cards

      • Which ones do have good guys?

  • +2

    Any EB games 10-15%?

  • +9

Would have been great if they had JB and Officeworks as well. Hard sell without them.

    • Since when have they not participated in TCN? I wasn't aware of that.

      • Has been off for a few months already.

  • +2

Does rebel usually allow split payment if i need to pay with 2-3 cards?

    • +1

      it normally does (instore purchase)

  • Damn, bought $2k worth of TCN cards using last month's 20x EDR Points.

    • Which ones

  • Are the TCN active variable load or just in 50/100 denominations?

    • +2

I checked two Coles stores today, and both only had $50 and $100 fixed denomination TCN Active gift cards.

I have never seen a variable load TCN Active gift card stocked at Coles (and it does not matter too much, considering the variable load denomination is excluded from this deal anyway).

  • Thanks, I am in dire need of some discount Uber Cash.

  • +16

A reminder that any Uber(Eats) orders in the previous 30 days can have their payment method changed.

    • +1

      Huh? Would you mind elaborating?

      • +6

If you made a purchase on Uber within the last 30 days in a credit card. Via support you can request that be changed to your Uber wallet and a refund will go to your credit card.

        • Woah, cool. I didn’t know that. Thanks!

        • I’ve done it on the app, no support needed. Change payment type or something.

          • @jaypeee: I thought that option had been removed. Maybe because I was using the Uber app for an Uber Eats order…

            • @sween64: Oh ok, haven’t done it in prob a year

    • Hey @sween64 - this applies to Uber eats only, or Uber as well?

      • +2

        Both

        • Oh wow that's really good. Thanks for sharing that insight, appreciate it!

  • +2

I'd prefer Cafe Choice over Good Food as it's more wisely accepted so stressless when paying.

    • +2

Cafe and restaurant choice is good and can have ones up to $500

But TCN restaurant is the best with more MCC's but only up to $100

      • +1

They used to have the $200 for TCN Restaurant, but those look to be discontinued.

    • +1

Yes, much prefer the Cafe and Restaurant Choice cards.

  • -1

Just bought like 3k worth from woolworths with the 20x edr today, I need nano texture glass display and can’t find any other retailer doing it except apple directly. So was better to buy apple gift cards directly from woolies.

    • -1

      Whats the 20x EDR?

    • +1

Thanks for flagging. I'm wanting the nano texture MBP too - surprised that JB don't have it as a SKU.

      • Yeah nano texture alone is worth it. Surprised no-one else has it. It’s night & day compared to the glossy display.

  • I think you save $10 buying the Village Roadshow passes online (yearly) but @$219 a pop you still save overall $20+ buying these at the gates

  • +4

    Without it including EB/ JB/ GG/ OW - it’s a hard pass.

  • does 'movie world' under tcn choice suggest you can use the gc to buy stuff at the park? or is it just for admission?

    • +1
    • +1

In my experience with the choice card last year once it is exchanged online it is a Village Theme Parks card that can be used inside the park on food/merchandise*.

      • You have a long gift card number that would need to be manually entered at point of sale, to save staff some time/effort I put this into Stocard so it could be scanned.

Bring back the 15% off Home or For him cards

  • +1

Dang going to have to load up! Wish it was available today

  • TCN Good Food

Can I use it at bennelong?

  • -1

How can I use shopback to get the extra % off if buying gift cards in person at Coles? My card is linked to shopback ?

  • I was wanting to buy these for use at Rebel. Can I buy multiple tcn cards and combine them into one rebel card?

    • +4

You cannot do this on the online exchange portal on the TCN website. That portal will only let you exchange one TCN gift card for one rebel digital gift card at a time.

You could try to do this in-person at a rebel store by using one or multiple TCN gift card(s) to purchase a rebel gift card, but keep in mind the following:

      • This is against the TCN multi-choice gift card terms and conditions (but TCN cannot really enforce this themselves when you are making a purchase at rebel).

      • I am not sure whether rebel has any specific policies saying you cannot use a TCN gift card to purchase a gift card. The only rule I can find is that you cannot use a rebel gift card to purchase a rebel gift card (which means consolidating multiple rebel gift cards into one is not possible).

      • I am not 100% sure if rebel has a hard limit to the number of payment cards (e.g. Visa cards, Mastercard cards, eftpos cards - including TCN gift cards) you can use in one in-store transaction, because there are past reports of other Super Retail Group businesses (e.g. BCF, Supercheap Auto) having a hard limit of five payment cards per in-store transaction. That means if rebel staff allow you to purchase a rebel gift card using TCN gift cards, you can probably only use five TCN gift cards in one transaction.

There appears to be no limit to the number of rebel gift cards you can use in one in-store transaction though, because the rebel payment method webpage merely says "multiple" rebel gift cards can be redeemed in one in-store transaction.

      • +2

I am not 100% sure if rebel has a hard limit to the number of payment cards (e.g. Visa cards, Mastercard cards, eftpos cards - including TCN gift cards) you can use in one in-store transaction…

I was told there is no limit when I used a combination of payment cards in-store at rebel recently.

When I rang rebel today (Sydney customer care and Perth), staff also confirmed that there is no official limit on the number of payment cards (e.g. TCN, rebel, credit cards etc.) that can be used in-store (except Afterpay).

The staff member from the Perth store thinks it's possible to combine multiple TCN gift cards to buy a rebel gift card in-store. Haven't tried though.

        • +2

Thank you both. Very helpful advice from all.

  • Can I use any of these 15% off giftcard to buy a mac Mini from the Apple Education store? Is there a way like swapping gift cards, etc?

  • Do these deals usually become active at midnight? I've got a 24 hours Coles on my drive home from work.

  • Have anyone tried using TCN Choice at Baby Bunting store?

    • +1

Since it is includes on the list, there is no reason that it wont work I guess.

    • I have and it works.

  • What's with excluding variable load?

    • Will be a popular deal, I think it probably just limits their liability. Either that or they are transitioning to stocking exclusively variable cards.

  • I am missing the %10 Coles Mastercard discount so much

  • Isn’t it still a bit risky when u can’t be 100% certain what merchant code a business is? Like I mean how can u tell if say a barber is merchant code MCC whatever? Sure I can ask my regular barber I guess if they happen to know…
Or am I just overthinking it?

    • +1

Yes there is a small risk that the merchant has not set up their payment system correctly with the right MCC, which is not common but definitely does happen. Unfortunately there is no way to know until you try to pay. Visa used to list merchants and their codes on a site but that is now gone. There is an MCC List on the Ozb Wiki but that has only the bigger stores

  • +1

Finally got our 15% off !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Can I use the TCN Good Food Gift card at Epicurean of Crown Hotel?

  • +1

@WookieMonster do you know or have heard reports whether the TCN Pamper gift card will work with dentists?

I've read that the gift card supports other "unofficial" merchant categories and was wondering whether dentists would fall under "MC 8099: Health Practitioners, Medical Services: not elsewhere classified"?

It'll be good to hear from others too that may have successfully used the TCN Pamper gift card for dentists.

    • +1

I do not recall seeing nor hearing any reports of the TCN Pamper gift card working at a dentist.

Dentists should be assigned MCC 8021 (Dentists, Orthodontists), so that is the MCC I would expect to see at a dentist. MCC 8099 is only intended for health practitioners not classified under any other existing MCC, so it would be surprising to see a dentist using MCC 8099.

    • +1

It won't, you would need the category choice one for that.

    • I would be careful with this as I think they may have changed where The Pamper card can be used. I was able to use it at my hairdressers but it would not work yesterday…tried on three cards. I will call TCN tomorrow to check but when I went to their website, they seem to only have a limited number of places near me listed…it could be that my hairdresser has changed her machine and configured it with a different code….i will check with the owner as well…

      • Please let us know.

      • You should be able to open the TCN app and look at the declined transaction and see what the merchant code is.

        • +1

You can only see the merchant code on the Android version of the TCN app. The iOS version only says PLACEHOLDER under the Category section for transactions (and it has been doing that for a couple of years for some unknown reason). Having said that, if the merchant description for the declined transaction says in the Android or iOS app Card not authorised for this terminal, it means the merchant was using a merchant code not permitted on the gift card.

Also, I suspect that if you use the physical eftpos version of the Pamper gift card, you would not be able to able to view transactions on the TCN app. I think you can only view transactions for the digital Mastercard version on the TCN app.

  • Can the restaurant one be used anywhere? It says is being phased out only what is on Blackhawk network when I search online shows American diners want to know when it is phased out and it can be used at any place like hurricanes

  • No gift cards this year for jb hifi.
    Oh well bugger.

  • How can you use to buy tickets at village roadshow ? If only $100 is max I need tickets for 4 people do they allow multiple use online ?
