Comments

  • Is Groupon still exist?

    • Of course! :-)

      • +2

Does Groupon still advertise codes with up to 'insert high amount'% off and then only give low amounts off on most deals?

  • Time to watch Gal Gadots super hit movies Snow White and 7 battalions of IDF

  • Moana | Mufasa | Wicked | Sonic the Hedgehog | Paddington in Peru | Den of Thieves 2 | Wolf Man | Azaad | Captain America | Monster Summer & more!

I think not much to be excited about ? … unfortunately
    I think Netflix killed cinemas.

It's a terrible time to be a cinema owner. Most people don't see the logic of paying money to watch a movie now, when they know they're going to be watching it at home several months later anyway on their paid for streaming service.

still this one from ShopBack is better

Bought 4 tickets then realised "Not valid for use in ACT, Victoria or Tasmania." - I'm in VIC.

    (mod: removed private selling)

You were scammed. If you used a credit card, contact your bank for a charge back.

      • I did use a credit card. What would I say though?

Give them a call, tell them exactly what you've found out. Sold a non-existent product that isn't usable. They may tell you to try to sort it with the vendor first, an annoying run around but I'd guess they'll help you out straight up.

"This eVoucher will expire on 30/04/2025. Not valid for advance ticket sales and on sessions after 31/03/2025."

Hmmm… what's the deal with the second date here? That's today.

  • +2

EXCLUDING VICTORIA!!! Because we don’t haven’t event cinemas (lame)

  • +1

Not so fine print dates stated confirm this is a blatant scam regardless of location.

Don't those pricks (cinemas) charge you to redeem vouchers as well, so any savings just get chewed up in fees again anyway

    • No, the cinemas do not charge you to redeem vouchers. You just come to the cinema and use the vouchers to purchase the tickets. Can be done at the ticket machines.

      • -2

If you redeem the vouchers online they do. You know, like any sane person has been doing for years.

        • -1

I guess, I have been insane for years by going to the cinema without booking online thus saving myself tens of $.

    • Our cinema operators are obligated to give film studios a 50% cut of movie ticket sales, and the booking fee is a way of clawing back some of that revenue since that's not subject to the 50% take.

Personally I think the big US film studios are rich enough already (Moana 2, Inside Out 2 and Deadpool 3 all did over $US1bn in ticket sales each for Disney for example), while our mostly locally owned cinema chains are struggling, so I'm not going to give them too much flak for trying to divert more dollars away from US corporates and into local pockets.

    It's cheaper via Shopback

  • I am really disappointed with Groupon.
They used to be good and helpful. Not anymore.
They sent me an email with the code for $20 off for any purchase of $21 or over. I tried to use it but it doesn't work on anything at all.
It has been about 2 weeks of correspondence with their customer service without any result. They offered me a code giving 10% which is a joke.

  • The expiration date: 30/04/2025…..

    LOL. NO

  • RACQ and Shopback are both cheaper.
