Full credit to GCDB

Next week's upcoming Coles gift card deal! Someone did ask about 15% off TCN gift cards.

Limit 5 Gift Cards per customer. Offer valid only in store at Coles Supermarkets (excludes Coles Online, Coles Express and purchases via giftcards.com.au or coles.scanshoppay.com.au), subject to store availability. Excludes TCN Choice Variable Load Gift Cards. Excludes all other TCN Gift Cards not listed above. Whilst stocks last, no raincheck. Offer valid from 20/11/24 to 26/11/24. Gift Cards can't be used to purchase other Gift Cards at Coles. Refer to individual gift card for terms and conditions.

The best card is TCN Shop, for 15% off Uber/Uber Eats, however Village Roadshow Theme Parks is listed on the "Choice" card, and given theme park tickets are rarely on sale, 15% off is pretty good.

        • I have used 3 previously in the one transaction, I don't believe there is a limit.

  • Do these have paywave? Or you need to enter it in manually?

    • +2

All the gift cards in this deal are physical gift cards that run on the eftpos network. To use them in-store at a merchant, you would need to tell the merchant you want to pay via eftpos, swipe the physical gift card on the EFTPOS terminal, select Savings and then enter the PIN.

Having said that, if you purchase a TCN Cinema or Pamper gift card, you can exchange the physical gift card for the digital Mastercard version that can be stored on Apple Pay, Google Wallet or Samsung Wallet. More information on this can be found in the relevant FAQ in the FAQ page listed in the deal description.

  • How many TCN cards can I use in 1 Kogan transaction??

    • +1

Strictly speaking, you cannot use the TCN Shop gift cards in this deal directly on the Kogan website, because the TCN Shop gift card in this deal is a physical eftpos gift card that does not support online transactions.

Having said that, you can go to the TCN website and exchange a TCN Shop gift card for a digital Kogan gift card. The TCN website says you can redeem an unlimited number of Kogan gift cards in one online transaction. From what I gather, Kogan gift cards function very similarly to Amazon gift cards (i.e. you can redeem multiple gift cards onto your account and use the cumulative gift card credit to pay for an eligible order).

      • because the TCN Shop gift card in this deal is a physical eftpos gift card that does not support online transactions.

How do you use it for Uber then?

        • You need to go to the TCN website and exchange the full or partial balance of your TCN gift card for a digital Uber gift card.

    • Yup I did this last time, like what wookiem surmised it works the same or very similar to Amazon - I went to the TCN website and converted the TCN gift cards to a Kogan vouchers, and redeemed the codes on Kogan, and the funds were added to my Kogan account as credit, and I could spend it on any combination of items or number of transactions freely.

  • Does anyone know if it's possible to use the Good Food card with Eatclub? I'm assuming no, since it's a physical gift card so it can't be used digitally?

  • Is it a limit of 5 gift cards per customer, or per customer per day?

    • +4

Actually, Coles should stock the following denominations (and I am standing in front of a Coles gift card display as I write this comment):

      • TCN Active: $50, $100
      • TCN Choice: $50, $100, $20-$500 (but this $20-$500 card is excluded from this deal)
      • TCN Shop: $50, $100
      • TCN Cinema: $30, $50
      • TCN Pamper: $50, $100
      • TCN Good Food: $50, $100, $200

Whether staff will let you purchase more than five gift cards in one visit is up to whoever is serving you.

      • +1

Thanks Wookie, fingers crossed. I'm after the TCN Choice x $200 - 5 will be enough!

Says TCN Choice comes in $200 also.

        • Save some wookie for the rest of us brah

        • Ended up having to get 17 x $100

  • Wait how does uber work with these cards, does it become a normal gift card voucher you add to your account or do you need to use it as a payment method like a card?

    • +1

You need to go to the TCN website and exchange the full or partial balance of your TCN gift card for a digital Uber gift card. Instructions on how to do this can be found in the Gift Card FAQs wiki.

Once you receive your digital Uber gift card, you can add that to your Uber account balance.

      • +1

        Ah interesting, thanks!

      • +1

Thanks. The website is not intuitive. You’re instructions are great.

Once swapped the Uber gift card took about 5 minutes to come through.

  • +1

I completely forgot about this, got to the door to my Coles just before 7am when they open and man, the amount of cheap idiots who have no dignity. They pushed through others to get to the gift cards first and one guy even knocked over an elderly lady in the fruit section as he tried to get around the line of people quickly.

    What losers

    • +1

You completely forgot but you were also there?

      • +5

I go to the gym at 6am every day. At 7am on my way back to the car, I pick up whatever groceries I need from Coles. Not that I owed you an explanation but hope it made you feel better Queen Steuart

        • +1

Oh well, I hope you got some nice fruit when you got back up 😎

          • +1

@King Steuart: I did thx mate! Haha. Sorry also about the Queen Steuart barb. LOL

It did remind me my wife wanted a mango so was actually handy! Haha

    • makes a great video

should record and upload it haha

  • Will the TCN good food card work with fast food retailers such as Mcdonlds, KFC , Hungary jacks and any other restaurants?

    • +1

      No fast food

  • I just bought $1000 worth and no discount. Lady is trying to work it out

    • +2

Just read can't do the variable

      • rookie mistake

        hope you didn't buy them

        • First time getting invovled in the gift card game 😂. And yes i did but they refunded me. Even told me if i wanted to buy more then the 5 limit i could😍

          • @Jimjim5: REFUNDED on a gift card?? that's a first

            • @Poor Ass: Well i got lucky then i guess

              • @Jimjim5: Very

                Super lucky

Some staff will just tell ya to piss off or call the card company

  • Is there any activation fee ?

  • Went into Coles before work, saw everything was gone except the variable loads haha. I'll try again tonight if they restock.

    • Don't think they ever restock. The Gift card discounts are sort of a sham as they only intentionally stock limited GC's and even if they have tons available at the back they won't restock it.

  • What's everyone planning to buy with these?
No TGG / JB on any card

    • Buy the wrong card with no discount. It happens at every store.

      • +1

A lesson everyone learns once lol

    • I got five $100 cards to get the Garmin Forerunner 955 for $499 from Rebel.

  • Grabbed $250 worth of the Choice for gifts, got some babies on the way. Plenty of stock at my local, though I didn't look for $200 cards.

  • I was only allowed to buy $50 denominations today (5 of), not allowed to buy their $100 denomination cards.

    • I was able to buy the $100 Cards. What issue did you face?

  • Plenty at CS square Vic

  • Has anyone used the Good Food card at Panda Hot Pot in Melbourne parhaps?

    • +1

assuming this is the place you mean, it's on the official list so it should be okay

      • +1

Thanks @lachlantula. I did see the place listed on that site. Just worried they could still refuse to take the card. Have had issues in the past with some restaurants in SA.

    • +1

it will work at all places where the EFTPOS machine has 5812 as the MCC

I've had restaurants that were put as fast food 5814 and didn't work and also had fast food places that was considered restaurants 5812 and did work

      • It's all good as I used the card last night at Panda Hot Pot, but thanks for the explanation of the codes as i still have some credit on one of the cards I need to use.

        • nice

you don't need to say anything just say you are paying by EFTPOS they won't ask what are you paying with

      • I am curious @Poor Ass which fast food places worked for you?

        • +2

Guzman but if you need to split payment they only let you do Card (to use up the remaining small balance of a good food card or digital card) and Cash

KFC but only if you are paying over the counter it will show up as 5812 Collins Foods instead you can split as many cards as you want

But if you use the KFC app or KFC kiosk it will show up as 5814 and you can't use the Good Food card

          • @Poor Ass: Thank you! I will give it a try myself.

            • +1

@Chatgpttrue: as far as I know

HJ for 5814 and KFC 5812 are the best places to use up small balances

some more businesses are nice about it but if they have surcharge you just need to work it back e.g. if you got $2 left on a card and their surcharge is 1.2% you need to calculate $2 / 1.012 = $1.98 (always round up to the nearest cent never round down)

some places do the surcharge at the end and some do on each payment just need to know what the go is first

              • @Poor Ass: I find McDonald's are terrible for small balances. If the gift card does not cover the full value of the purchase you have to firstly pay with exact cash (deducting the balance of the gift card) and then you can use the remaining balance on the gift card to pay for the item 🙄

                • @Chatgpttrue: yeah that's why I don't go Maccas to use up last bits of balances

besides everyone that saves money uses the app and you can only use card on that

  • Ample stock at Vic Gardens, Richmond.

  • I have a birthday coming up at TOKO restaurant. Can I use TCN Good Food to pay for $2,000 bill? Is it too risky? Just worry it won't work and I stuck with all the gift cards.

    • 'toko' isn't on the official list, use at your own peril

    • Too risky. Good Food GC's are a highly risky proposition even if the restaurant is listed on their website. There has been numerous instances of the restaurant not accepting the GC and at other times the redemption failing due to some or the other issues.

    • Digital cards are 10% off atm (thanks @Poor Ass)

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/878231

They can come in $500 denominations and can be used at any 5812 restuarants

  • Just picked up 5 x $100 of the SHOP cards from Coles for $425. I tried two stores, but they did not have the variable amount cards - only the fixed $50 or $100 denominations. Interestingly they had the variable amount in the Choice variety - but this is explicitly excluded anyway.

  • TCN Shop doesn’t list Uber Eats on the gift packaging, should be okay right? Is Uber a new addition to that card?

    • +1

Yes - just converted mine just to Uber Eats - you just click the Uber Eats icon from https://thecardnetwork.com.au/pages/the-shop-card, and then choose to convert the card denomination to a digital voucher code. They then email you a code which you can input in to the Uber Eats app.

    • +3

Uber / Uber Eats was added to the TCN Shop gift card on 03 July 2024. There is a very good chance the gift card you were looking at was manufactured before this date.

As per this FAQ, you should not rely on the packaging for the current list of participating retailers, because the TCN gift card terms and conditions implies that the only place with the correct list of participating retailers is the TCN website:

      1. This Card is an eftpos prepaid gift card that can be used for electronic transactions, to purchase goods and services at participating retailers listed on The Card Network website.
      • I purchased SHOP cards with barcode 7 99366 48658 9 in $100 denominations with no mention of Uber Eats on them and was able to convert successfully. Do it online as per above.

The card numbers for mine all start with 50212510284016

      • +1

I was using the Shop gift card today at Sheridan outlet which was not advertised on the card although I checked online and it was included and it worked. Another customer before me was using a gift card (unsure which one) with Sheridan Outlet written on the card but not working. Typical scenario here

  • Is the pamper card still working at shopback? anyone tried?

    • +1

I tried this morning and it didn’t work

      • for the healthy beauty swap card?

        • Yes, shopback might have blocked TCN cards not sure if it's just me.

    • It does appear they have now been restricted from ShopBack purchases.

  • Can I use multiple TCN Active for 99bike online if I were to purchase something over $200 value? I believe I may be able to use multiple if I go to the store, but the closest store is like 200km away from me. Thank you.

    • No. You can exchange for 99b gift card, but you can only use one gift card per online transaction.

      • Thanks. I believe the exchange is to be done in store only?

        • +1

You can go to the TCN website and request to exchange a TCN Active gift card for a digital 99 Bikes gift card. Instructions on how to do this are here.

If you instead go to a physical 99 Bikes store with a stack of TCN Active gift cards, you should be able to redeem them all in one transaction. The OzBargain record is 53.

  • Is it possible to use the good food card at restaurants that aren't on the website? As long as the restaurant is set up to be MCC 5812 it's all good?

    • that's my experience yes and I churn through them

      • Any major restaurants you used to go and use these GiftCard?

        • all of them

  • +1

I'm an idiot and got the wrong giftcard type that wasn't in the deal and I can't return them! FML!

    • +2

      sad I know

I think it will happen to everyone at least once

    • They refunded me

  • Plenty of $100 TCN Choice gift cards left at Coles Flemington Showgrounds.
Perfect timing for Baby Bunting dropping the price of the Graphene car seat to $459.
The 15% off brings it down to $390.15.

    • Do you know many you can use in one transaction?

      • many as you want

I've used about 4 different payments in the past

      • I don't know the upper limit.
I redeemed 5 of the gift cards.
The sales assistant helping me was aware of the discounted gift cards and expecting lots of people to use them.

    • ya good to buy if you need it

after few years they are worth nothing and all yucky haha

  • +1

Pleasantly surprised to find plenty of $100s this morning

    • Westlakes store had no promo signs out. A small sign saying promo cards are kept at the front counter now.

  • +2

For those who wondering, you can use Vanilla MasterCard from Woolworths to buy these cards. I just tried and succeeded.

  • I just bought 4 resturant ones. I went to the website and there is only one restaurant listed here in the Gold Coast… ?

    • I can use the good food one for many restaurants not listed on their website. I guess you can try it first at a restaurant and see how it goes.

  • No JB , no deal
