      It should.

      The only time I have heard of a BIG W checkout automatically rejecting a Coles Mastercard gift card was when I tried to use one to pay for an Activ Visa gift card at the start of this year. (I got the Cancelled - Items Not Allowed error.)

          AMEX should be fine. I see no reason for BIG W to block AMEX credit cards for purchases of gift cards.

    Guys I'm a bit thick. I went to the Ultimate gift card page and tried adding a $150 gift card, but there was no discount. How do I get 10% off gift cards for EB Games? It's on the participated retailers. Looking at making a purchase there for $1-2k.

    edit: Just saw it's in-store at BigW only.

    Also what does it mean by "(excluding variable load)" ? Is it only the gift card denominations on the shelves at BigW?

      If you are wondering why the large table in the deal description includes links to the Ultimate gift card website, it is so you can see how each participating retailer accepts Ultimate gift cards. For example, Officeworks accepts Ultimate gift cards in-store and online, but does not allow you to exchange an Ultimate gift card for a digital Officeworks gift card on the Ultimate gift card exchange portal.

      "excluding variable load" means that you will not get a 10% discount on the denomination where you choose the amount to load onto the gift card at the checkout. For example, Ultimate Kids gift cards should be sold in a $50-$500 variable load denomination at BIG W, and when you scan this gift card at a BIG W checkout, the checkout will ask you the amount you want to load (between $50 and $500). The only type of Ultimate Kids gift cards that are included in this deal are the ones with a fixed denomination; for example, there should be Ultimate Kids gift cards sold at BIG W in fixed $30 and $50 denominations.

      Whem you trade in onlune thr funds come back to you in thr form of payment method. So if you pay on GC your refunds will be apple credit. Unsure how it works in store.

      With the Uber gift card promotion, you will earn 20 Everyday Rewards points for every $1 you spend on the gift card. If you purchase a $100 Uber gift card through the promotion, you will get 2000 Everyday Rewards points.

      As an aside, if you prefer an upfront discount instead of Everyday Rewards points, you have two options:

      • You can purchase a fixed denomination Ultimate gift card at 10% off through the current Ultimate gift card promotion at BIG W, then go to the Ultimate gift card exchange portal and exchange for an Uber (or Uber Eats) gift card. Just make sure the Ultimate gift card you purchase has Uber (or Uber Eats) listed as a participating retailer.

      • You can purchase a TCN Shop gift card at 15% off through the upcoming Coles deal, then go to the TCN gift card exchange portal and exchange for an Uber (or Uber Eats) gift card.

    Just exchanged a $100 Ultimate gift card for an Anaconda e-Gift card, but it's shown as invalid at Anaconda. Called Ultimate and they couldn't do anything about it, as "the exchange has been successful". Will wait for Anaconda's solution, if at all, before taking further actions, but I'll steer clear from Ultimate in the future.

      Not sure if it’s still within 24h after you exchanged the gift card, sometimes the gift card takes a while to ‘activate’. Otherwise it should be an ultimate gift card service issue as they are the one who is selling the card to you. Good luck.

          I just left a BIG W store, and the fixed-value $30 and $50 Ultimate Kids gift cards scanned at the discounted price.

      I strongly suspect BIG W does not stock them.

      I have checked three BIG W stores during this deal and could not see any. I also had a mate check a few other stores interstate of me and they could not see any either.

        It also could be that they were an older generation of the Ultimate giftcards that they forgot to discount as mentioned below. Big W doesn't discount as often as the supermarkets so they might not know what they are doing. I bought a $100 Ultimate Home card today and it was discounted correctly.

    Totally confused here. There is a 'One4all' Ultimate GC and then there is the regular Ultimate GC. What is the difference between them? I accidently bought the regular Ultimate GC for Kids and did not get the 10% discount.

      There are actually three different "generations" (for a lack of a better term) of Ultimate (Visa) gift cards.

      They all function the same (i.e. they all work at the same participating retailers listed on the Ultimate (Visa) gift cards website), except I think Blackhawk Network (the Ultimate gift card scheme owner) uses different stock barcodes on each generation. Considering the stock barcodes should be different, I think BIG W uses different six-digit PLU (product look-up) codes for the different generations, and therefore they would need to apply the 10% discount in their system to each of these PLU codes.

      I scanned $30 and $50 Ultimate Kids gift cards (generation 2) at BIG W yesterday and they came up at full price. I also scanned $50 Ultimate Beauty & Spa, Birthday, Celebrate, Just For You and Thank You gift cards yesterday, and those all scanned at the discounted price, which shows that BIG W is intending to discount all fixed denomination Ultimate gift cards, not just the ones pictured in the catalogue. I suspect someone at BIG W has forgotten to have the 10% discount apply to Ultimate Kids (and apparently also Ultimate Her) gift cards, so if I were you, I would complain to BIG W.

          Hmmmm I am not sure what would happen if you went in-store, because:

          • You may get a staff member tell you "but the discount was only for the gift cards shown in the catalogue".1

          • You may get a staff member tell you "refunds for purchases of gift cards are not possible" (which I believe is not legal, because it implies that you can never get a refund, even when - for example - there has been a violation of Australian Consumer Law).

          • I am not entirely sure if BIG W's checkout system will allow staff (even a store manager or duty manager) to do a partial refund for the purchase of a gift card. I know that Woolworths' checkout system will allow a full refund of the purchase of a gift card, but Coles' checkout system will not this.

          I think you are better off first trying your luck with the BIG W General Enquiries hotline, as they may be able organise something over the phone (e.g. email you a small Everyday WISH gift card as an apology, send a note to the store to refund you the amount you were overcharged), or they may be able to advise you what to do next when you go back to the store.

          1. I think this is incorrect, because (1) I have seen discounts applied to Ultimate gift cards not pictured in the catalogue, and (2) the catalogue says it is for the Ultimate gift card range. ↩

      Menulog only accepts Ultimate gift cards online. That means you need to redeem the Ultimate gift card like any other Visa card when paying for your Menulog order.1

      I do not use Menulog, but I believe there is an option to use Apple Pay or Google Wallet as a payment method on Menulog? If so, if your Ultimate gift card is stored on Apple Pay or Google Wallet, you can instead choose Apple Pay or Google Wallet as a payment method on Menulog and then choose to charge your order to your Ultimate gift card that way.
