After a few days of negotiation with AliExpress I've managed to get the successor to the previously popular Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2023 down to a good price for those after a new tablet with good specs. Unfortunately I've been unable to get a deal on the Matte display version, as stock is low across the board. Alternatively you can get the 8GB/256GB variant for US$244.14 (~A$371.65) and the 12GB/256GB variant for US$269.19 (~A$409.79).

The main improvements over the original is the newer and faster flagship MediaTek Dimensity 8300 CPU that blows the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 out of the water making it far more suitable for gaming, a brighter 12.7" 600 nits display (was 400 nits), more future Android updates (currently ships with Android 14), 45W fast charging (was 20W), the option of 12GB RAM and Bluetooth 5.3.

Other features include ZUI 16 (Android 14), 12.7" 144Hz 2944x1840 LCD display with 600nits brightness, Widevine L1 DRM, 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.1 storage with microSD support, 8GB or 12GB RAM, 10200mAh battery with 45W fast charging, 4 JBL Speakers with Dolby Atmos, 2 inbuilt mics, 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, fingerprint reader, WiFi 6 ax, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, USB-C 3.2 port with 4K@60Hz video out and pogo pins for a keyboard.

  • For the 8GB RAM variants apply the coupons 7QETXD and OZAF40
  • For the 12GB RAM variant apply the coupons 7QETXD and OZAF65 Mod Update: code OZAF65 has expired.

Then download Google Play from the Application Center or sideload an apk yourself.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

    @CrashOveride @liveish @Ohaidere @dwdw6122 @hen dawg

This was the best I could do and sadly no Matte version. It seems most sellers are sold out or don't stock it.

(sorry if I forgot to tag anyone else)

    • Btw what is the matte version, thanks for the tag

      • Matte screen I gather.

      • +4

The matte display has an anti-glare coating so there's less reflections and less fingerprints. It's not going to be too different than a normal screen in direct sunlight and you do lose a bit of the colours.

        • Thanks mate, now to find a case :)

    • +2

You're amazing for doing this! Thanks. I wasn't interested in matte screen anyway.
My Lenovo Tab P11 feels pretty sluggish these days

      • When did you get that from? I'm looking at the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad 2024 for my kids

        • Had it since May 22, (checked my Ali history) US$190. Tablets have improved nicely since then for similar money. That pad you mention looks great value for a kid

    • US $178 delivered with seller "Lenovo Thinkpad Store" on Ali Express

      • +1

Are you sure it's the same product? There is a Xiaoxin Pad Plus with a matte display and it's not the same product. Base model is Xiaoxin Pad, then Xiaoxin Pad Plus for midrange and Xiaoxin Pad Pro for high end.

        • +1

It's the plus. Thanks for the quick clarification. Was able to cancel my order and pick up this one :)

  • Thanks Clear…

  • +1

The specs are almost perfect except for the screen… I just love the OLED screen on my 2023 version… that being said, I may just pick this one up too. Thanks OP!

    • +2

2022* had the OLED. My always unpopular opinion is that OLED is overrated and you can get some pretty good non-OLED displays now.

      • I cant even watch anything on my non-oled tablet

        • I don't think Specsavers will save you from that :P

          • +7

@Clear: An OLED screen will. I can't believe people call OLEds 'overrated'. You could get good non-OLED screens a decade ago, nothing's changed 'now'. Blacks still terrible.

            • +2

@nikoris: How dare someone have a different opinion on their screen preferences.

              • +14

@Clear: I respect your opinion, i just dont value it.

                • +2

@nikoris: No OLED deals for you then.

                  • @Clear: Any OLED deals for me, please?

                    • +1

@wisdomtooth: I won't have much time to look for deals before the sale ends.

      • Is there anything on the 2023 one that's been "downgraded" on this 2025 one then?

      • Name them?

  • +3

Any good 8 inch tablet? 12.7 inch will kill me if I drop it while lying on the bed.

    • Are you willing to spend more than this?

      • +3

Would you be able to get a better price for the y700 2025? I could only get it down to US $382/$440 for the 12gb/16gb versions

        • I haven't seen anything cheaper yet.

        • +1

Where can I find Y700 at that price?i am interested

          • @mazx: Use code Y70025120 and AU1125 at 70mai Goldway The 16gb requires the $100 off $599 which expires at 7pm if it's still available to collect on your account.

            • @quill: Doesn't work.
"Sorry, the coupon code you entered is based on a first come first served basis and has been been used up by other shoppers"

              Thanks though

            • @quill: Thanks but unfortunately AU1125 not available best there is AU1140 brings it to USD$436.99 inc tax.

        • How did you get that price for the latest model?

    • Lenovo y700 2023 is pretty good.

  • Thank I nabbed one. I accepted I couldn't get a 2022 OLED again more. $338.44 AUD with coins.

    • +1

Yeah unfortunately it looks like Lenovo aren't going to make another 11inch OLED tablet :(

      • Can't be helped still decent to get it around the same price.

  • OZAF40 = AU1120, use whichever for any items over AU$150.00. But be careful, as what I wanted got only more expensive than was 2 weeks ago with a default sale coupon.

  • Hmm, would the coupon be better than the various cashbacks on offer?

I'm seeing 15% and close at sb etc.

    • +1

Cashback will track at 0% since this isn't affiliated. Cashback in general will work with coupons when affiliated.

      • Mate, we gotta get a lenovo tablet with coupon + affiliated cashback! 🙏

      • Fair enough.. copped another Clear device - Cheers.

  • +4

Please bring OLED back. I agree the OLED screen isn't that bright and not comparable with fancier OLED panels. But it's still good for night time viewing.

    • The old OLED version is still super bright indoors, I have it at 25% brightness or less.

  • I'm wanting to markup PDFs with a tablet whilst out in the field/on construction sites - used an iPad today (not sure which model) but it worked pretty well. Any android based systems likely to give a similar/better experience? The viewing/marking up of PDFs (And then saving/emailing) will be 90% of its use…..

    • +1

Samsung tablets, they come with a pen

    • +2

      Stick with ipad

The 8300 CPU in this tablet is similar to an Apple M1 chip. An Android tablet that isn't a flagship will be a lot slower.

The pdf software is not as optimised on Android.

Why spend $1000+ on a Samsung flagship when you can just get an ipad which has better software, more performance, more accessories/screen protectors etc.

You can also claim it on tax, and in 2 years sell it and get most of your money back for an upgrade. You will lose hundreds of $ more selling a used Samsung

'The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.' - Benjamin Franklin

  • Do you think we can get something similar and cheaper during the BF ?

    • +2

      Clear negotiated this deal.

  • where do i put the coupon code

  • ZUI 16 has widevine L1 already? Netflix on my older model xiaoxin 12.7" was downgraded to Widevine L3 after it updated to ZUII 16

  • I bought the Redmi pad pro 256gb 8gb… for $400 exactly after cashback, is this better?

  • Is this a good enough deal for me to impulse buy?

  • After a few days of negotiation with AliExpress

Negotiated with the seller or Ali's rep?

    • +1

      Alibaba directly.

      • I ordered from Alibaba before. But this is AliExpress. Unless I miss something.

        • +7

Alibaba staff run AliExpress. I spoke to team members directly.

          • @Clear: Buy some BABA on Hang Seng and ADR for earnings to pay for this lol

  • Getting $425AUD for the 12/256 variant with the posted codes. Am I doing anything wrong?

    • +4

If AliExpress is set to AUD the rate will be out. I've provided information about exchange rates in the deal.

      • Cheers mate, missed that part. Bought one

  • +1

Thank you Clear you're the best

  • What do these compare too when it comes to Samsung and Apple tablets?

    • About 1/2 to 1/3 of the price

      • i meant spec wise, like a 10th gen ipad or a tab s8

  • apparently the xin series without the xiao are the budget version

  • Anyone find a decent case for this version? I was only able to find case for the 2023 version.

    • I happened to get the same tablet last week, as long as the camera is the same, it seems to still fit. I got a cheap one off Amazon that says the previous model number.

  • Grabbed 12gb version thanks

  • Any knock-off Apple Ipad Pro-style cases for these? I don't like the kickstand cases that are common for Android.

Thanks for negotiating this deal Clear.

    • Like a folio case?

      • I think they call it the magic keyboard case? But yes, it's closes like a folio case.

        • Ah ok, Lenovo only make folio cases if that's what you want.

  • Thanks op picked up the 12gb

I was looking last night at 7pm and the older model seemed to sell out more quickly.

I couldn't figure it out myself on how to get through best price. Thanks again!

    • Were you able to apply the 2nd code?

      • I believe so. I changed the currency to USD, then applied both codes, just under $410 AUD.

I think it all expired shortly after unfortunately

  • +1

(Great deal, thank you!) I can't get both discounts. 7QETXD gives the following error message "Sorry, another shopper just collected these coupon codes. However, you can still enjoy other great deals on AliExpress."? Not sure what I'm doing wrong

    • +1

      Yeah me too

  • +1

    7QETXD not working..?

  • can anyone say if the pen they offer is the best to get for this tablet?

edit: no worries, all 12g gone anyway

  • This appears to be the Chinese ROM version. May have access to the Google store without some work.

    • +4

Already covered in the deal 😉

    • +1

I have the 2023 model of this tab running China ROM. It's a simple task to enable Google Play store.

      • OK. I have the 2021 Pro/OLED version. It came with a Chinese ROM. Had to change a firmware setting so that it would identiy as a P11 Pro rather than a Xiaoxin Pro which only then allowed me to install the Global ROM. It wasn't a trivial process. Not sure if they are makng it easier to install and ripun Google apps now. Great tablet though!

        • +1

why would you need global ROM its literally 2 buttons to turn on google services

          • @Freestyle: Mine gave me a bunch of hiccups on the Chinese ROM. The option to turn on Google Services was not available on my device.
Google Playstore wouldn't install, Netflix wouldn't install and a bunch of others. I did manage to sideload a bunch of things but they wouldn't update automatically so I had to manually update each app. Once the firmware setting was changed it functioned as a Lenovo Tab Pro.
This was a different model back in 2021 so things may have changed since.

  • Any other deals for this floating around?

I see a few other sellers offering similar prices but low sales numbers, so not too keen on biting the bullet on something around $400. Looking for 12GB 128/256GB variant only :)

  • Should I get this or Samsung tab s8?

  • +1

Good luck if it arrives DOA/faulty

Youll spend next 3 months chasing a refund and doing stupid shit to "prove its faulty" like recording videos etc.

Never buying lenovo off ali again!

    • +1

Sounds like you had experience. But I generally agree not to buy high value items off Aliexpress. I had DOA WD SN740 SSD before

    • Should have gone down the PayPal dispute or chargeback path maybe

  • Is it really expired ?
