  • Nice, I was looking to grab some. Wondering if there will be any good black friday deals but I kinda don't see it coming

  • +3

    99 was the ATL

  • This is cheaper than the recent Amazon Prime Days!

  • +2

Got mine $96.05 all up with cashback & rewards points through everyday market. Could’ve been $88.60 if it was through the 35% cashback deal rather than 30%.. so yeah fair bit to go

    • How does this work?

      • +4

Buy through woolworths everyday market during cashback, eg. at the moment there's a 35% cashback through [TopCashback] AU(https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/875539)

Plus Everyday Rewards had 1500 bonus points for minimum $100 spend at Everyday Market when I bought it worth $8.25.

If you get Airtags now, they're $149 sold through Woolworths Everyday Market via MyDeal here

Will end up being $96.85 after cashback. You just have to wait for the money to come back to you that's all…

  • I'm not particularly impressed with airtags tbh they are good but they take ages to connect and often just won't connect with the precision finding feature at all or at least until i'm standing right in front of it.

If you need to get some, i'd wait for the ebay plus black friday deal which i got mine for just over $100 afaik but here's hoping they update them with the U2 chip soon

    • I’m surprised they have introduced a second form factor. I’m in the market for a couple of credit card sized trackers. One for my wallet and one for my passport. Looking at a KeySmart.

      • It's because Apple is massively overstocked of these with warehouses loaded for years. They don't want to introduce a new model which will have a new form until they clear these. It's possible they'll do a clearance but I wouldn't hold my breath.

        • +2

Apple can’t conveniently lose them …

        • Did they over estimate their popularity?

  • I like the idea of these tags, but when the item you're tagging is worth less than the tag…

    • +1

Well the whole idea is that the item you’re tagging plus AirTag won’t be lost so cost is irrelevant as ideally you won’t loss either AirTag or the item

    • +1

      What are you tagging?

I've got one in every car, kids laptop bags (speakers removed), my work toolbag, and inside some of my high values home tools if they're ever stolen, I can trace them.

      • +1

wife's keys, wife's wallet, wife's head, my steam deck

      • Why’d you take the speaker out?

        • So thieves can't take the airtag out and ditch it while they take the goods with them.

  • Are these the best option for tracking luggage when travelling domestic or o/s

    • I would say not the best value. I'm using Atuvos or you can go Yipoyilo for $10. These tags are arguably better for luggage because you can power them down when you're not in-transit.

    • +1

Yes. The apple ones are the only ones that work widely and not reliant on Bluetooth range. So if your luggage goes to another country, you'll likely see them in the find my device app.

The google find my device enabled ones are meant to work the same but are not yet widely found by other devices. They need to fix that.

All other ones rely on you being near the tags to find them or other people installing the same app which is rare to non existent.

      • +1

I have non-Apple branded ones that are fully Find My compliant. But they're not yet able to access the Ultra Wideband technology in U1-equipped iPhones so can't do precision finding, which perhaps isn't needed for luggage anyway.

        • Did not know those existed.

          • @Herbse: Via Amazon: Atuvos, eufy, Yipoyilo, Tersely to name a few. I gather they can also be sourced from AliExpress. They integrate with iOS the same way as AirTags, just way cheaper. Added value with physical power buttons, lanyard holes and they're available in other form factors (e.g. credit card for wallets).

            • @sumyungguy: Can you please provide a link to the ones you have used before that you are fond of?

              • @adn: Atuvos 4-pack $63 I got mine in May for $22.50, credit to @TooSerious2 who posted a pricing error

  • yall reckon black friday would have this for $100?

  • Used these when we travelled in Europe. It was nice to sit on the plane and know your luggage was collocated. It can take a little while for connection when you get to the remote end and luggage is being offloaded. We had them in the travel packs and the day packs. They are also good to navigate back to your accomodation. Just find where your packs are. We also use “what three words” for accomodation navigation. However Venice is a tad dodgy with gps tracking.

I have the Apple Watch and Apple phone. I kept using the ping mechanism on the watch to ensure I still had my phone. Hit the button just before you get off any form of transport.

    • collocated

I do not think that word means what you think it means.

      • +1

Fair enough. I meant basically in the same location.

    • Isn't it easier just to star/heart your accomodation name or address in Google Maps to navigate back?

      • If we remember before we leave the place we use “what three words”. However, if we don’t remember to star it the tags are always active.

  • -1

They are surprisingly poor to connect to and hate the fact they aren’t rechargeable

  • What battery does it take?

    • +1

      CR2032

      • Thanks

  • What is the best alternative for Google Pixel users? I have an iPhone sitting around at home but would rather not have to take it with me when I travel
