I bought airtags at a similar price a couple of years ago but I have since discovered generic Chinese made ones from AliExpress which can be bought for $5 to 10 each.
They work the same, add to Apple Find My app. In some ways better since you can view the battery indication in the app.

yea, got the point about straight discounts but this deal was not disclosed last friday, so just bought it first at that time

@bohn: No way to verify as I haven’t been keeping track over the years but at a conservative estimate I’ve claimed at least 10k from my old days where I had uncontrollable camera GAS, and at least 2k between my steam deck, iPad Pro, surface laptop 3, galaxy s21 ultra, s23 ultra and surface pro 3

I have the related Coles MC with price protection which has slightly different conditions, but I think my lifetime limit is $50k, and I track all my claims and only up to about $8.5k.
(my conditions are I get 24 months instead of 12 months on 28D, but can only compare against the same retailer I purchased from instead of any, and $600 max per item instead of $1000)
I actually used to have the 28D but for a short while the Coles card was objectively better so I cancelled the 28D, then 28D improved the insurance.
Still waiting for a day where they either cancel it prematurely or offer a once off payout to stop using it - surely there can't be that many paying premiums making it worth it.

unfortunately, the $2.50 bonus any purchase doesn't start until 5pm, I was afraid this would be over by then.I had to pay the $5 ebay plus sub though, no more ebay plus sign on bonus from what I can tell.
