I have been using ipad heavily for 12 years for reading papers, blogs, youtube, and other media consumption, note taking, etc. I got this m2 model with edu free pencil offer in jan.
I would get 11th gen by price beating costco at OW (for around 540) over this unless i want AI features. If you want a pencil, just get $10 ones from ae or amazon, which i find surprisingly good enough for basic note taking, and pdf annotations.true. Have no idea why and how one can fully unlock M3/M2 potential using iPad, and not Macbook
I've thought the same thing, but my base iPad 8th gen is very slow on the latest OS, even from a clean install. Having the M series would see it remain usable for a lot longer I would think.

I'm torn between the iPad Air M2 and the regular iPad (A16) that was just released.
I'm coming from an iPad mini (5th Generation) from 2019 which is now ridiculously slow on iOS 18.
I'm not a power user in the slightest, but would like a device that will stand the test of time.
Does anytone have any thoughts on whether spending the extra for the M2 device is worth it? I should say that I am not at all worried about Apple Intelligence at all.
