man that's like a freaking month away!! and they are already have pre black friday deals.

        • +2

Yeah, it keeps getting earlier. I just had a look and this is the 9th Black Friday deal for this year so far.

This time last year (25/10/23), we only had 3 Black Friday deals.

        • +2

I have found the best deals in the first 2 weeks of November over the last 3 years for items I was watching… No point in waiting until actual Friday 29th

    • Christmas stuff is on sale too. Advent calendars, etc. everywhere at the moment

  • How are these for a TV? Or will a soundbar be better?

    • Could you provide more information? What soundbar are you comparing? Are you just going to be watching TV?

    • The Edifers will likely sound better in a nearfield environment, but a soundbar is likely better suited for use with a TV.

They will probably outperform most similarly priced soundbars for mids and highs. Personally I'd need to pair these with a subwoofer for home media usage, a sealed 4" woofer would not cut it for me

These are great, But i went with the next model up and got the Bluetooth function as it works better for me. Im very impressed with this brand so far though!

  • +2

I have a pair of these & think they perform fine… I'm no audiofile though… Just an old guy who needs sound

  • Was looking for a cheap soundbar for my TV, would these work well?

    • +2

      No

    • +4

Technically they'd work if your TV has an analogue audio output. But they're not really intended for that use.

I'd rather have the convenience features of a soundbar (auto-off, HDMI ARC, and/or remote control), even if the audio quality isn't as good as these speakers. At the end of the day it'll still be an improvement over your TV's built-in speakers.

      • Fair point. I’ll keep an eye out for soundbar deals then

        • Or just decent home theatre speakers. Most soundbars are pretty lame as they are constrained by size

Edit: I have bookshelf speakers and a separate 12" subwoofer - it was trivial to plug into the headphone port of my TCL TV and sounds fantastic. Cost me about $150 on FB marketplace all up

      • You would prefer a $99 soundbar?

Got these yesterday for an electronic drum kit, they have pretty good base so would be better than monitors for a soundbar.

It won’t have the HDMI integrated remote functions though.

  • appears all the range is discounted too

Just keep in mind these are meant to be desktop studio monitors. They are designed to be used up close and to have a flat sound profile.

They aren't going to fill a room or sound big and boomy.

  • Would these work well as PC speakers with maybe a Fosi Audio K5 or something?

    • no need for dac, wouldn't hurt to have one though

  • I was umming a couple of months ago over these, but bought monitors 3x the price. No regrets, MR4's are what they are - for the money they're unreal.

  • Have the black ones on the Kanto SP9 stands - really love them.

  • This or Edifier R1280Ts? or R1280DB Studio 2.0?
