HEDD TYPE 07 MK2 Studio Monitor - Black (Single) $1,729 Delivered / SYD C&C / SYD In-Store @ Sounds Easy

30

Fantastic value. These were normally sold by Store DJ / Mannys for around their RRP of $3K+.
I purchsed a pair from Sore DJ several years ago with a targeted discount and they have been fantastic. They have some unique characteristics such as ability to convert them to closed box, nice highs from AMT tweeters, digital AES/EBU connections, artificial delays between highs and lows, they measure great as well.
I am using them with HEDD Sub 12 as a nice budget (opposed to Type 20 or 30) wide frequency range set up.

  • Wow, price for one..says they are $1,999.

No doubt top notch, still going with my Yamaha HS80M and HS8 sub, cheap and cheerful but still nice for listening and good detail. Haven't felt the need to upgrade really but there are sure better stuff around.

I think room treatment would make a bigger difference for most people than upgrading past a certain point, but hard dropping coin on that, haha.

    • Yamahas are a very popular budget choice. They are getting a little dated now.

      • Yeah that's true, at the time they were only $880 a pair including some really good ultimate stands.

Guess I'd look at Neumann or something (for a desktop bit small for room).

Plenty of ideas from Darko audio videos but most are passive (and expensive). It still goes great with Volumio - RME ADI-2 - balanced XLR out.

  • +1

My favourite speakers for studios are still the Neumann KH120, cleanest sound I could find.

    Decent price.

    • Yes, KH120 are a golden standard, but 5" could be a bit small. Directly competes with a much cheaper HEDD Type 05.

  • I'll keep my 5" beat up Cheap Sony speakers from an OLD cheap failed stereo a friend left me thanks.
