                • @AusNugz: They did had option for static IP but now been removed.

            • @AusNugz: they removed the ability to pay for it, it was only available for 1 week.

          • @youknow: referring to buddy. ABB will allow you to opt out

I personally haven't had a issue with SuperLoop so no real reason for me to jump ship.

  • -1

I'm very happy with Buddy. Does not feel any difference for normal internet activities. But it looks like Superloop does not like you to do BitTorrent since the speed are throttled while I can get full speed with Buddy.

    • +4

I max out my Superloop connection when torrenting, even when on speed boost

    • Are you set up correctly? i.e. port forwarding? I haven't had an issue with any ISP in Australia.

  • Tried to charge my card for $99. So I am not sure If code works

  • +9

Be aware you also need to give Superloop 30 days notice to cancel, or you will be billed another month. Have to time your cancellation carefully.

    • +1
    • Are they enforcing this now? I've left superloop twice before with no notice and have been fine.

      • +1

Yes. Happened to me just last week. Online chat refused to cancel the additional bill and aggressively & repeatedly referred to their 30 day policy. Emailed their finance dept who then removed the bill by applying "credit". Still a shitty and time consuming experience.

        • did you swap provider and got billed by both providers?
could you please share the email address? looking to cancel with them this week

    • +1

Just a cash grab from them. NBN don't charge them anything once someone leaves. It's a reflection what the company stands for.

    • +1

This happened to me, I raised it with Superloop, and they didn't budge. My loss.
But, I will never be with Superloop again. :)

  • I entered "FLASH" and placed order, then I received an email for the receipt of $99

    • +2

when your invoice is generated it will show $95, dont worry

      • Okay. Thanks. :)

  • Thanks I have signed up, entered the promo code but the email receipt still said $99. This the same for everyone else?

    • when your invoice is generated it will show $95, dont worry

  • +1

Not sure it's good news or bad news. My current service was cancelled, as I authorised Superloop to cancel it, but the new one from Superloop isn't active yet, and I'm working… it's 12:46 AM, not sure if anyone will active the new one for me.

    • was you current service PPPoE or IPoE, Superloop is DHCP by default so if you have come from a provider that requires a username and password you will need to change it. Also check that they have not changed the port in your wall.

      • It's automatically working now after 15 mins. I didn't do anything. But I'm now with superloop, my property is HFC, not sure if it can go up to 1000 Mbps? I tested it as just 105 Mbps.

        • -2

depends on your hardware, cabling etc. you probably eligible for free FTTP upgrade

        • HFC doesn't get FTTP upgrades.

I would recommend you directly test with the HFC box with an ethernet cable to your PC. Unplug it for two minutes and then boot it up with the ethernet cable plugged in already. If you aren't getting speeds close to 1000, call them (good luck)

But if you are getting these speeds, it's your hardware for sure.

        • Any HFC property can get 1000/50. Not all routers can handle Gigabit. What router do you have?

          • @Twix: I’m running an AX86U Pro - what would be the real world wi fi speed I can expect on the 1000/50 I’ve signed up for?

            • +1

              @cheaponos: RT-AX86U pro can do 500Mbps to 1000Mbps over 5GHz Wi-Fi.

          • @Twix: HFC Blackbox —> Netcomm NF18MESH —> Deco M5

I'm using Wifi from Deco M5.
Speed test from Deco app is fine, it's showing 800 Mbps. But the connection via Wifi is just around 100Mbps, there was once it's up to 200 Mbps. As specs, it should be up to 1000 Mbps via 5Ghz.

Note: I will stay just next to the Deco M5.

            • @Taron: You can plugin the Deco to the HFC NTD. Why are you using the NetComm NF18MESH?

              You won't get 1000Mbps with the Deco M5 5GHz Wi-Fi.

              Deco M5 Wi-Fi 5GHz = up to around 500Mbps.
              Deco M5 Ethernet = around 850Mbps.

  • +1

https://www.speedtest.net/result/16868295007 Pretty consistent speeds. This is over a mesh Wi-Fi specifically Deco X68. Never go under 800, throughout all day with 20+ devices connected.

Everyones experience may be different however…

Was in the market around a year ago for a new ISP. The superloop reviews were good. Switched from Aussie where I had no issues. Immediately began to have issues. Drop outs poor speeds etc. Performed troubleshooting rang support multiple times over about 3 weeks.

Was told (after going through the usual troubleshooting triage that I had already tried) that the issue was my router… (a unifi set up that had previously been faultless) and that I should use whatever they were flogging at the time(I think eeros).

I immediately (quite literally) switched to another provider. Problems instantly went away. When I churn next month it won't be to superloop.

    TLDR.

If it works their prices are good.

If it doesn't their call centre staff are useless.

    • Call centre use to be amazing when it was in Aus, now overseas its like pulling teeth. Fortunately my service has always been good

  • Tempting since I’ve just passed my 6 month promo - but I’ve got a couple of referral discounts added too

  • +2

Terrible ISP. I thought that bargain would be worth it - that it would be hard to screw up provision of FTTN or FTTP (a family member), but they found a way.

Poor tools, can't detect anything, terrible support process. I know the technical details and how to navigate support but they are awful.

  • +4

Don't forget the 30 day notice to disconnect rule
    They will inforce it

    • What if you churn over the port?

  • +2

Avoid these guys! Was with them and I had lots of issues. They wouldn’t honour referrals, they charged me for cancelling without notifying them 30 days prior, and I had lots of dropouts and issues.

Now with BUDDY Telco and they have been awesome, great app, never have dropouts and I pay $89 a month for 1000/50

    • How did you get $89. The website states $99

      • Hey, I think when I joined they had a promo for 12 months at $89 then reverts back to $99. Maybe they don’t have it anymore?

        • Buddy was $89/m for 3 months (deal has expired) and is $99/m ongoing.

  • +1

LeapTel is offering $89 for 12 months

AGL screwed up my provisioning when I signed up to $84 for 6 month (failed port???). Then they tried to put the blame on me and offer me their new price of $99 for 6 months. They wouldn't budge and found LeapTel to be the cheapest.

No issues with LeapTel. Hit and miss for different people I guess.

    • +1

The problem with Leaptel, is they're a small company trying to be big but not investing in their network and upstream providers, they just stuck with GSL so all their eggs are in one basket and have no real control over their network, however superloop own their network and same with aussie broadband but aussie broadband for example has multiple fall back up link. I've also heard reports they don't honour their pricing some have said

      • Leaptel just signed a $4.5m VNNI backhaul deal with Superloop for 3 years.

        • -2

Leaptel will be bought out by superloop, chris and matt have been wanting this for a while

        • -2

are you a fan boy or girl of Leaptel? judging by all your posts looks like you work for them lol

          • @memez: No I'm not associated with any ISP and I've never worked for any ISP. I don't even use Leaptel as my ISP.

The Leaptel and Superloop deal was posted a couple days ago on Superloop's blog and other tech sites.

  • how is superloop compared to Optus NBN?

    • -2

same but superloop have slightly better support

      • Lol no they dont.

    • I tried to match this deal via optus chat but had no luck.

  • Anuone able to share what their wifi modem router is to achieve these speed? I cant hit more than 95/45 with my hfc

    • WIFI, you would need at least wifi 6 and devices compatible doing wifi 6 or be cabled into any modern modem.

  • I am with Exetel, can I sign up with Superloop now and get them to activate the service after 30 days because I have to give exetel 30 day notice.

    • yes you can, just set the connection date for later or ring the retention team and they will let you go now, same company, ive had experience with this.

  • Im planning to change to Leaptel 1000/50 plan, currently with Telstra 100/20 plan and getting ripped off. Would it be okay to keep using the Telstra smart modem gen 2 I got when I switch? I've bought a Mercusys AC1900 Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi 6 System to cover my wifi as the modem has terrible range. Would getting a ASUS RT-AX3000P router be more beneficial? It's currently selling for $128 on amazon. I do have FTTP BTW.

    • One of the Mercusys has a built-in router. Plugin one of the Mercusys to the nbn NTD box and configure the Mercusys.

You don't need the Telstra SMG2. You don't need to purchase an Asus router unless you want to swap the Mercusys for an Asus mesh setup.

      • Im planning to change in about 10 days when just before my Telstra bill is up. Should I let them know beforehand or just change to Leaptel? And should I change the Telstra modem out with the Mercusys now or wait till I change over to Leaptel? I just received the Mercusys from Amazon just now lol. Sorry for all the noob questions I know jack all about this and thanks for answering.

        • Swap to Leaptel and cancel Telstra after Leaptel is up and running. It doesn't make a difference when you setup the Mercusys router.

  • As a current Superloop customer, I wouldn't. (I need to churn ASAP.)

    • I think people need to advise their setups because not all setups are equal and most that have problem are the ones that don't have FTTP and average hardware.

      • +1

Fair call, but my problems are more the poor customer service, badly designed website and app, finicky billing/service issues (e.g., once had a direct debit fail just one time; got a $10 charge, and service immediately restricted without any communication of the latter).

Download speeds and streaming have mostly been okay.

    • +1

yeah this works too. i did the same

  • What's peoples experience for people in WA been like?

Paying $119 with leaptel for 250/21 FTTP, might consider changing

    • +1

The worst customer service experience ever.

    • I used them a lot of times before, I generally churn every 6 months. They have been good for me, but granted I have FTTP so less issues in general. We are also a household that only use the internet to stream shows and nothing too intense.

  • +2

Another voice suggesting people steer clear of Superloop - they used to be good but they’ve gone to shit since the buyout.

Support sucks if you need it, network is appreciably worse than it used to be (at least where I am).

And - unlike almost every other RSP, you now have to give them 30 days notice to cancel/churn (or fight with the aforementioned shit support about it), which is a real pain when trying to churn away.

They used to be in my regular churn cycle of RSPs, but not anymore.

    • Are you on FTTP?

      • Yep, FTTP in Melbourne.

  • more telecom with CBA yello is best value IMO - 40% off

    • not everyone is with CBA lol

  • This or leaptel for 89?

  • If I want to switch from Leaptel, do I just sign up with this deal & it will port across, or do I also have to cancel with leaptel & sync up switch over date. I have FTTP

    • save your money, Leaptel has slow international speeds. Better off with BuddyTelco, if you want local support it uses Aussie Broadband network

  • +1

Currently paying $109/month for the same thing with Superloop, called up the cancellations line and referenced this. Managed to get $10/month off for the next 12 months, really should just move back to More Telecom but I'm lazy and Superloop has really good speeds, so going to keep paying the lazy tax.

    • this is pretty standard 12 month offering, you just ask for it

  • +1

For those who use TopCashback, the cashback has increased to $100 on this plan and it stacks with the FLASH sale:

    • +1

thanks for this, i rang superloop and they made the difference up :P haha. Got to give it to the retention team pretty good

  • Anyone know if the referral code stacks with the Flash sale and TopCashback?

    • no

  • They have not applied flash code for my order.
