          • @life is suffering: So then the comment made by @OZsince2018 "Yes. Thats correct. $300 GC with the phone will be on top of the $1200 voucher, but you cannot use the $300 GC to reduce or pay the for the phone." is incorrect then.

            • @Mani88: The 1500 off replaces the 1200 gift card. In their system it generates a 1500 gift card when you get the contract with the s24 Ultra, without the phone it generates the 1200 gift card.

The 300 dollar gift card is independent and comes as offer with the phone. But I think that offer ended today?

    • I don’t think you can as $1500 off and $300 bonus GC promotion expires today.

      • Ahhh I see, that would make sense. Thanks!

How long do you have to be away to be a new customer?
I ported out 2 weeks ago.

  • Sorry if this has been asked and answered before, but is the coverage and speed on a JB mobile plan that same as being with telstra, or is it given a lower priority such as Woolworths on the Optus network etc etc.

    • +1

It's the same as being with Telstra 👍

  • Can I order a new number or I need a current non-Telstra number? And after first month, we can pay less than $800 to cancel it by calling Telstra. So, Telstra won't know how much gift card we get and the repayment fee will only be depending on the CIS page. Is my understanding correct?

  • Can anyone help me , if i want to buy 16 pro and trade in with my 15 pro and use this deals

I want to get the lowest possible price.

    • +1

not worth to trade 15pro for 16pro, just keep your cash

    • Yes, trade the phone first and you will get Jb gift card straight away. Use that + $1200 giftcard + pay reminder using additional gift card

      • Yes, what’s the point of upgrading from a 15 pro? I have a 14 pro which I’m keeping for at least another year. Usually I pass down anyway to family and only thinking of upgrading as kid has iPhone 11 (which isn’t getting iOS 19.). So more of a safety upgrade
        .

So we can pay cancellation on this plan on day 1 of sign up and pocket the $1200 gift card, right?

    • Read the thread. Question has been answered a few times.

  • +2

I used the similar deal $99 per month for $1200 giftcard. Bought iphone 16 pro - paid $1200 using the giftcard received in this deal, paid $99 for the mobile using credit card and rest using ultimate him gift card bought from coles.
So, Your net discount for any model could be $1200 - $800 JB HiFi charge back - $89 = $311
If you get lucky you may only have to pay $766 as the chargeback is calculated prorata based and you may even attempt to get $89 back if you cancel the number straight away.
So your net discount if you get lucky $1200 -$766 =$434.00

  • +1

Would I need a SIM before getting this deal, or can they just give me a new one?

    • They can give you a new one, with a new number.

  • Sorry not sure if this has been asked.

When you call you to cancel how do you port your number out to another carrier? I don’t want to stay on the Telstra plan.

  • Does anyone know , if I go to Jbhifi today around 6 pm I can still get this deal
89$ plan with the 1200$ gift card .
I am working till 1800 so I will not get chance and I can see they’re open till 9pm . If this deal is only for today then I hope I can get .

    • It's all day, so you should be good if your local JB has later open hours.

      • It's Thursday so should be open till late?

        • Checked website for local store hours and mine is open till 9pm.

  • If planning to get iphone 16 with this, use TCN gift cards from woolworths for additional 10% off on the phone for the reminder amount

    • -2

      What's the question?
You'd use the $1200 GC to buy at JB hi-fi, and pay the remainder however you like.

      • It's a comment for someone who is planning to buy phone for additional savings. Did you see a question mark there ?

        • Pretty poorly worded, I didn't see a full stop either. Sounded like a question.

          Don't care lol

    • @saving king : What is TCN gift card ?

  • How many people have taken the gift card and cancelled their phone plan?

    • +3

I’ll do a quick headcount and report back with the numbers.

    • atleast 3

    • I did it when i purchased the s24 ultra deal that included $1700 GC offset against the cost of the phone and an additional $300 GC. The cancellation fee was $766.

      • +1

Pretty good deal, kept the s24 ultra, couldn't be bothered waiting for the 9 Pro.

Prefer pixel overall but have it set up much the same.

  • +2

Looks like the Good Guys has the same deal

    • Can anyone confirm that the Good Guys has the same CIS and voucher repayment fee?

  • Can you use the voucher to Pay JB for the monthly sim? Either monthly or upfront?

Because then this works out to be $39/ month correct?

    • You can’t, it’s billed via Telstra and you can’t pay using JB GC

  • +1

    Gift card expires 2/10/2024?

    • +1

      JB Giftcards don't expire

  • +1

I've got exactly this plan and be aware hotspotting gets throttled very quickly.

Ive found that I can use a VPN on the phone that masks it and works as intended.

Customer support is terrible fyi, the cell tower was down in my area and thier only solution was to restart the phone hahaha jokers

    • What do they throttle it to? What if I use a 4G/5G modem-router?

      • +1

throttling is the unsung (not even mentioed in the small print) and it affects apple phones and some andriods that report all data traffic info back to the carrrier. They know this is the case so to not effect the NBN and someone torrenting they THROTTLE it. So normal speeds might be 100mbs but throttled its often 2-5mbs and you notice it when it kicks in. No real ryme nor reason ever given on any of the three providers that implament some sort of network managment of data by 'proitising' some over others. Drop a sim from a tablet into a modem and b-mark them and see for yourself!

        • Correct, significant speed difference from the phone directly and hotspotting.

Its not the phone as Ive tried Apple, Samsung and Huawei, no difference, throttling is definitely occuring

        • It seems like there's a secret barrier to prevent mobile data and these SIMs being used as an alternative to NBN.

          • @inherentchoice: Is it the Australian Government who put this rule in place?

            • @SirFrankGrimes: Yes I blame Kevin 07 for starting all the mess and waste.

Pretty sure NBN Co already got in trouble for anti competitive practices before.

    • Could you please provide some instructions on "use a VPN on the phone"?
      Thank you.

      • Download a vpn app on your phone, then hotspot as usual

        • Does the vpn on your phone has to be connected to some country?

  • This deal says limit 3 per person, does it mean I can sign up 3 times under my name, and get $3600 JBHifi Gift Card? Thank you

  • +2

Theyve changed their CIS online saying:

"The $1200 JB Hi-Fi Gift Card will replace the value of the Voucher stated in the Critical Information Summary."

    Be careful guys.

    • +1

Yep. What is stopping JB from cancelling the gift card?

      • +2

Ozbargained is enevitable. All gravy tains end except for corporate welfare.

    • Yep just saw this on good guys as well. Seems to infer they will charge back the value they give.

    • +1

As I read that term in the CIS, replacing the value of the Voucher is not replacing the value of the Voucher Replacement Fee. These are two separate and defined terms.

Edit: Next minute, OzB brings class action against JB.

      • +1

Until you get to a customer service agent and they work their voodoo.

    • +3

That has been always mentioned in the last few deals but never gets updated in the CIS

You can always request a copy to be printed or shown to you before signing and confirm that you see the cancellation cost of $800

      • +1

This is probably the comment I was looking for assurance that I didn’t first consider. Legend!

      • Bro, you have the patience of a saint. It frightens me the amount of people on here who can’t read a contract properly. I guess that’s how JB/Telstra make their money from these deals.

        • 🙃
I was actually gonna smash my head in every time I see the same questions being asked lol

  • +1

Is this a good deal to get if one is waiting for the upcoming pixel 9 pro (not fold or XL) and then use the $1200 off the outright cost, or do people think wait for a specific pixel deal?

    • +1

You can double up on whatever deal they will have. This deal gives you a GC you can use to pay for whatever the cash amount is on the pixel.

    • Exactly the question I was about to ask.

  • nice, love this promotion.

  • Hmmm, I am going to take a couple of hours off from work to make a trip to JB to get this deal!

  • +5

Thanks OP, just signed up for it and got the gift card!

    • So same cancellation fees apply as per previous deals?

      • +4

Yes, it’s still the same. I was handed the CIS showing $800 termination fee

  • How does the data sharing work, exactly? Is it something I could put on OzBargain Classifieds for example?

    • How lol

    • The plans have to be ALL on JBHIFI or GoogGuys, they dont bundle over to other Telstra offerings as they are operating as VirtualNetworks and just use T$ for billing and services. So yeah you want to pick up the $ for everyones phone on your account, bundle away but id go V$ then as 5 services gets a 20% plan discount off the top of whatever deal they offer and they will price match if you call them! Plus bundling is easier, the discounts nicer and they have $79/600gb $1200 off an iPhoneXX for 36 months ($64 each for 600gb after 20% and just get some $20/30gb $16 after discount ea to get to the 5 devices and bundle all the data! Put a sim in a tablet, sim in a modem from marketplace and stop paying for NBN)

      • What?

  • Wow, just paid off $766 for S24U deal yesterday, now this deal come again.

    • This one doesn't include a handset lol.
PS. My payment came out too, all squared away and got a refund on the $99 a while ago too.

    • Do you pay this to Telstra or Jb..?

  • +1

Has anyone been successful in the past with an on the day port-out and port-in?

    • You can just make a new number and then merge the number that you want from your old plan later.

      • +1

Earlier comments mentioned that this cant be done anymore

        • Shouldn't be an issue to just port in same day then. I don't see why not.

          • @dongltron: I ported from Boost to Optus last night, then back to Telstra/JB this afternoon.

  • Be aware when attempting to cancel, Telstra/JB has stepped up their game; they will charge you the pro rata of the gift card value if canceled earlier.

    • +1

Yeah, this isn't exactly a great deal if you're planning to just cancel regardless. I personally will actually be keeping the plan. $10 off and $1200 in gift cards? Yes please.

    • How do you mean? So it’s not just $800?

    • +1

Incorrect, earlier comment above has confirmed that the cancellation fee is $800
