  • Will be interested if they include international calling

    • Same here Roger , I was thinking to get add on on top so the plan will be from 89$ to 99$

  • HOTSPOTTING: There are a few reports in this thread that JB Hi-Fi severely throttles the data speed when hotspotting. Is this the experience of everyone here who does a lot of hotspotting? I use hotspotting all day on Amaysim and previously on Telstra and there has been no problem with them. What's the point of offering 300gb if you can't use your phone's hotspot feature?

am i getting this right? for $800 you get a new phone and $1200 worth of gc?

    • Wrong. No phone included. You only make $400 if you cancel the plan . If you need the data then keep plan and buy new phone with $1200 voucher. You're just paying it off over time. Or just keep the phone and Sim you have and stop spending money haha.

      Nothing is free

  • How long does the sign up process take? I’ll only be able to make it to a store at 8.30pm - longer than 30 mins?

    • Mine took just under 30min. You should be fine assuming there’s a store rep who knows what they’re doing.

Who else has paid an ETC at $799 this deal or last? I have never been asked for $767 that 95% people are referring to

    • I just cancelled and was quoted $799.92. It should be the same figure for everybody. I'll have to check my invoice when it comes and see how much they are asking.

      • Interested to hear if you get charged/refunded the $89 first month cost.

        • No they just refused to refund $89. I don't get getting charged a higher termination fee.

          • @unity1: I don't get it either
however I have had the first months charge removed.
Give it a day or 2 to then see your results

            • @lyychee: It would be good it that happened. I'll have to wait and see. So was the chage just removed or did you ask for it to be removed?

    • Mine is $766.59

      • How is yours 766 compared to others paying 800?

    • I cancelled this morning and was asked 766 AUD.

    • Tried, got quoted $766.59

So basically we paid $855.59 (766.59+89) for $1200 JB GC.

      ~28.7% off.

It took me anout 30 mins including the gift card pickup, credit check and esim transfer from physical sim

  • if I port out of my number on day 1 of the deal is that the same as cancelling? or, do I have to call up Telstra to cancel?

    • you can ask Telstra online chat to cancel

    • Wouldn't it make sense not to sign up with your number to begin with? Just sign up with a new number.

  • Succeed to go through the early termination. And that 766.59 fee can be paid by Vanilla Visa by multiple instalments.

    • How did you cancel the sim?

      • Use My Telstra app, find Get help-Chat now, and just start the chat say I want an early termination for 24 months JB HiFi plan

        • And that 766.59 fee can be paid by Vanilla Visa by multiple instalments.

like via online chat or you can go to a website and type in the amount each time?

          • @Poor Ass: All can be done on My Telstra app. Just be quick when you pay using gift cards, I've used several then it started to decline my payment.

            • @Meteor Anarcom: well I think after 2or3 it will decline for fraud but next day should be ok

what amounts did you pay in and different cards? how many?

              • @Poor Ass: I tried to use up few remaining bucks on multiple cards, 4 or 5 cards. I guess it just triggered some risk alerts automatically

    • Is there any offer on vanilla visa? I saw it some where but Dont remember where I noticed that 10% off

      • last week in Coles VIC/TAS

    • Wait you can pay by instalments ?

    • Did you pay straight away? They said it's auto payment in 10 days. And there is no option to pay now

      • I use My Telstra app on an Android phone. You can click "View details and pay" , then "Pay now", and you will see there's an option of "Pay an instalment", if you are using the app.

If you have already tried that, then it might be some privileges for exsiting Telstra customer? I have no idea if you don't have this option in the app.

        • After cancel you paid yourself on app by split ? Cuz i asked to customer service they said that there is no split payment 😓

          • @Partypants: I think they meant something like afterpay or zip. I asked that but they didn't answer, they just told me an invoice would be issued. Then I found that straight away

            • @Meteor Anarcom: I just did cheer! But customer service said that i have to repay value my jb gift care. Can ignore that saying ?

              • @Partypants: That was that $767 for. This is the repayment fee for the plan. It normally is $800 but JB Hi-Fi is doing promotion for $400 more. You may check CIS page to confirm that. I checked that when I signed in store

  • Has anyone signed up multi numbers? Says max 3 per customer.

    • You can if you want, but be mindful it might hurt your credit ranking. I booked and cancelled twice today.

    • Doing it now . Buying iPhone for $1934 16 pro max 256gb
Or thinking actual cost is just under $1300 ^^

      • Mate you did it twice and both with 89 AUD first month fee waived?

      • I thought pro max was $2147?

        • I got lucky with the rep offering a better then rrp

          • @Splashtash: That's great. Are you able to share the store you went to ? Or proof of purchase ? I am planning on getting 1 today.
            Thanks in advance

      • @Splashtash keen to get one as well at that price. Mind pm receipt to price match pretty pleaseee.

      • Appreciate if you could pm the receipt mate.

Should i go to JB hi-fi in store this deal or can i do online ?

    • -1

      can you read

      • Oops sorry. It says "in-store" 😂 one more question. I don't have to buy new phone for this? I can join the plan with my old phone ?

        • can spend the gift card whenever you want, jb cards dont expire iirc. You can use any phone you like :)

          • @sonson99: Oh i see ! I can just join mobile plan and get gift card! I'm gonna buy camera :)

  • Oof, credit check denied. Oh well, my own fault. Done this 'get the plan, cancel the plan' dance a few times before, I guess this is karma.

    • +1

How would that effect your credit? Must be something else going on surely

      • Apparently doing this multiple times affects your credit review. Or they just won't sign you up on a new plan knowing that you've cancelled a few times the similar contacts.

        • Yup. That, a couple credit card applications, and I moved to Brisbane, all within a 3 month period. A combination of all those factors, I'd say.

      • that, a couple credit card applications, and I moved to Brisbane, all within a 3 month period. A combination of all those factors, I'd say.

      • But when I ran the Equifax, the Telstra cancellation never showed. Must be a Telstra thing

My credit score is still showing as excellent despite cancelling many times in the past

        • Mine too. I also churn credit cards.

    • Lol. I suppose in a few months you will be good again fingers crossed.

  • Signed up and received the $1200 gc but was not charged upfront the $89 fee.
Cancelled the plan 1.5 hours later in Telstra shop and cancellation fee was told will be ~$800 and will be deducted from bank account.

    • +1

interesting, i guess they didnt start your plan when you signed up at jb, so you ended up paying full voucher fee.

thank the jb staff who saved you an extra $34

    • Can you cancel through the app?

      • Yes

      • The app doesn't show my new service sadly. And their chat seems to be backlogged…no surprise 🫢

        • Is it JB Mobile app?

    • What excuse did you give when you cancelled?

      • Just jump on the app. They don't need to know, I think last time I jhust said I want to cancel.

        • Wow that’s fantastic! I might just do that. Thanks!

      • +1

        My dog is sick

        • I think I’ll just stick with app cancellation

        • +2

I was asked for a reason and said it's a personal reason. She moved on without an issue but I wish I had mentioned my sick dogs vet bill

  • Does any one know about this mobile plan to join with passport? They care which visa i hold ?

    • As long as you money in the bank

      • Good to know thanks :)

    • Credit check, I don't think you need the passport. I can't recall last time, I think I gave my license.

      • I only have passport and my bank debt card.. can i join it?

        • Don’t have international licences ?

        • You need various forms of ID to make the pointq.
Those two are fine, just don't know if you need to be a resident or not.

  • does anyone have any links that says $89 can be refunded if not satisfied with the service?

    • There is no such thing?

  • +1

I Went on to cancel the service. I was told the voucher value of 799.99 I had to pay back. They have not charged me for the first month yet, so they cannot pro-rata it.

    • Correct but you keep the $1200 voucher

    • So what's the go with the first month, do you pay $89 when it's eventually due?

      • I hope they will not charge me the first month's bill now.

  • +1

I been told can't get the 1st monthly fees refunded

Not all the OZer are the same
    Lol

  • Is there a way to get a discount on telstra bill, cashback, gift card?

  • Hi, sorry if this is a dumb question but I have just went to the store ASAP after seeing this deal without reading much and was able to sign up twice and got 2x $1200 gift card voucher. My question is what’s my next step now ? Do I have to contact specifically JB HI FI mobile or My Telstra to cancel ? I messaged JB hi fi and was told I will be charged $766.59 x 2 to cancel both my plans. Should I proceed ? Also how do I claim back the $89 upfront fee ? Thank you in advanced

    • Either of them. Try to get the $89 back but last I wasn’t successful

      • Thank you ! Also did you cancel your plan or you don’t cancel until they say they will refund the first month at the same time?

        • First time I just cancelled. I didn’t know I could get first month back. So when I went back they refused.

    • Did you sign up twice at the same time?

      • Yep the guy that was helping me out was super cool and even asked if I wanted to proceed with the 3rd one 😂 I’m planning to get iPhone 16 pro max so I said no more than enough

        • If Telstra decides to refund the up-front fees I will be saving $868 ($434x2) for 16 pro max. If not $622 ($311x2) which is still a bargain.
