  • Took advantage of this offer in Brisbane.

    • Got the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra midnight blue (512GB), price beat MegaBuy via JB phone sales, down to $1508.64 (from $1799).
    • Signed up to JB $89 in-store as a new service, was told I would have to pay $767 + $800 if I cancelled early. Said I'd stick with it (lol); I knew better…
    • Paid the $89 initial service payment (first month of Telstra service)
    • Got $1200 gift card manually generated in-store because of an issue with their automated system (fully assigned to physical store card) which I then used to purchase the phone, paying the remaining $309 cash.
    • Was offered a $226 Extra Care - Repair Cover (5 yrs) and took it up. Paid via Zip (gives me option to cancel). Don't know if this was a smart idea or not…at less than $50 a yr for my first (smart) flip phone it seemed beneficial. Hope it's not sketchy as some 3rd party warranties are. anyone care to comment/had any experience with this service?
    • Left store with new SIM, number, JB receipt; handset arriving soon. Total out-of-pocket spend today - $309 + $89 = $398

~sunset/sunrise montage, it is now today~

    • Jumped on to Telstra chat via website. Requested cancellation of the service. Was quoted $766.59 total, proceeded.
    • Asked about the $89, rep said he "was sorry" but it couldn't be refunded. I typed the Telco Konami code (T I O) and all of a sudden, the $89 was waived to be refunded within 5 days (cancellation still pending). So it IS possible to get it reversed.

    • Total Outlay - $766.59 + $309 + $226 = $1,301.59 for a Razr 50 Ultra flip phone w/ 512GB storage and warranty coverage to Oct 2029. Could be $1,075.59 w/o the extended warranty.

Anyone found a similarly good handset deal to this? Not trying to phallus measure, more keen to see what other handset deals outside the S24 Ultra there could be had…

Didn’t understand how you got it refunded? What code was that b

      • +1

        lol same

        • TIO is the telecommunications industry ombudsman, basically they threatened to get them involved if they didn't refund.

          • @theguyrules: Thanks ! Yeah that always works

          • +1

@theguyrules: Didn't threaten, just mentioned pro-rata refund is in their guidelines, and hey! Things happen. Now I gotta figure out what to do with this horse's head…

            • @juicebox12: Do you have a link for that? Would be handy to have to dispute the charge if it comes up on my bill.

              • @unity1: I can DM you the chat transcript if you like?

Or possibly anonymise it and post it here…

                • @juicebox12: I should be ok thank you. It may possibly help others.

  • What phones everyone end up getting?

    • Saving it for something next year

  • Did anyone get an invoice for the $766 cancellation fee?

    • Everyone

      • +1

Ok I just received it as well

        • I’ve got the invoice, but I don’t see anywhere I can actually pay it.

          • @winteroce: Direct debit
This Invoice is scheduled to be paid by your nominated payment method on XX/10/2024.
Alternatively, you can login and pay the invoice through jbmobile.jbhifi.com.au/payments on or before the due date.

This is at the bottom of the invoice

            • @PR0r: Yeah I see that part - it's just when I log on, there's actually no option at all anywhere for me to pay it before the direct debit due date, which is odd.

              • @winteroce: why are you rushing to pay it early?

              • @winteroce: Yeah after cancelling it you can't see anything to do with the account. Just wait for the direct debit.

  • Someone pm me if this pops up again. My store always has over an hour wait and couldn’t get served :-(

    • Just as well. I’ve got dramas with my activation - still shows as in progress so I can’t cancel my decide! Been 2 days!!

  • Hot darn. Should have snagged this. Will wait again for the same deal. Current spot doesn't have internet hooked up and only NBN is available. Will need to pinch this next time.

  • Does anyone have any idea at all how to know if there's a deal that the handset is $0 on $99 plan for example?

It was paid off fully with a $1799 gift card/voucher but the deal wasn't published/printed anywhere, wouldn't know unless you've been told by someone and asked in store about that specific deal.

Like there was the Samsung Flip 6 256GB? Coz there's nowhere mention on the website or on their postpaid mobile phone plans.

    • Visit their store daily and check?

      • -1

Would you visit their store DAILY and ask? Have no idea what are these deals so secretive, don't they want to make sales, profit? Not even their chat online knows the deals, say to go to the store, weird.

        • +1

You’re the one wanting to know so you should do the legwork.

        • You have to go in anyway to sign up for the plan.

    • I’m here now and the best deal is 1100 gv on 99$ plan

      • Thanks for letting me know, yeah i checked today also, will wait for another deal.

If anyone purchased this deal and cancelled, I suggest checking your telstra account for points. The money we all spent to cancel, I forgot the exact amount but roughly $760, gets converted into telstra points (~7600 points). I purchased a $10 Amazon gift card for 6000 points.

      • +1

I've been a boost customer for about 6 months and somehow needed a telstra account for that. Hopefully you get the points too!

      • Out of curiosity, have you been emailed an invoice for the $766.59, and have you paid it?

I paid the invoice rather than waiting for it to be processed automatically after a couple of weeks

    • You dont get any

      • I wonder why I did

  • Hi guys, Telstra said would refund my $89 but still no refund. Do you know how long it will take? Thanks

    • Takes patience for the refund to come through.

  • Ok so in the end it all worked out. Applied for one connection - got the GV no dramas.
    Got charged $89.
5 days later service was still not active in system so could not cancel.
Finally showed up as complete and proceeded to cancel via telstra app.
No drama with agent they mentioned 766.59 charge. I said ok and proceed
They then asked if any other issues - I said I paid $89 and didn’t have service for 5 days, so they said they would work to get it refunded.

    A few moments later…..

It was done, saw a refund note on my jbhifi app.
Also see the 766.59$ invoice in my telstra app.

Assume it will go to my cc on file and vice versa.

So 1200 - 767 =433 freebie hack. Works will as I just ordered ps5 pro with the GV.

    Nice find OP

    • Did you see the $89 go back on your credit card?

      • Not yet but was issued a refund notice for the card.

      • Update - got the refund of 89$

        • Did it show up on your credit card all three refunds?

          • @nightelves: not sure of 3 but yes the refund for the 1st month $89 showed up on my card.
