    • at the stored i ordered he mentioned that they do got the stock at the back, just that they can't release it today.

    • Yeah I just called Helensvale store here on the GC. She said stock is out the back and waiting to be receipted before SMS will go out to the customers. No early release this time around. Tomorrow it is

  • +2

Another conflicting information - as soon as I submitted the complaint, JB team called me and said the order was submitted correctly (they’re blaming on the Telstra IT)

    I’m in a for ride

    • +2

May be they are doing this on purpose to hold you accountable for posting this deal that will result in JB losing their share of the GC after all the cancellations 😅

  • Signed up today with no issues, took about half an hour, telco sales was able to knock another $40 off the price of the 256gb Hazel.

  • May I know what devices everyone is upgrading from to the Pixel 9 Pro XL?

    • +1

      Honor Magic4 Pro
Great phone, but lots of software bugs that I can't seem to iron out, no matter how many times I do a factory reset.

      • Nice. I'd persoanlly hate to be stuck with software bugs these days…

        • yep nobody has time to deal with bugs. these companies are giants. the least they could do is test throughly before release.

      Oppo Find X2 Pro here

      • +2

Nice! Find X2 Pro was the best Android I've ever used, pretty sure it will feel like a great upgrade for you. I am on the Find X5 Pro, but I am still unsure whether I should pull the trigger. I might wait for the smaller 9 Pro and see.

        • Obviously up to you, but I wouldn't. Find X5 Pro is a great phone from what I read.
Maybe wait for the Pixel 10 with the custom chip.

        • +1

yeah it's reached end of life with security updates so i've had to somewhat reluctantly upgrade!

    • +1

No upgrade. Just buying as a 2nd phone in addition to iPhone 14 Pro Max.

      • Similar. But iPhone 15 Pro Max.

    • Pixel 3XL

    • samsung fold 5, the fun over with the folded phone

    • Not really an upgrade because I'm using an S24U

      • +1

        more like a sideway move.

        • Yep. Coming from the iphone 15prm and then the S24U, I didn’t expect any significant hardware upgrades, but more improvements on the software side. I found myself loving the S24 Ultra for its ability to transcribe old voice recordings to text, allowing me to summarize tens of hours of training and learning into a single page. The phone saved me heaps of time. Now, I’m hoping the Call Note feature works as advertised because I make tons of important calls and my goldfish brain can’t even remember what I had for brekkie

          • @trantonz: TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if call notes is a US only feature.
I use skvalex call recorder and that works really well.

    • Pixel 6, I thought it was time. My Android journey so far = Nexus 4 -> Pixel XL -> 4XL -> 6.
And I'm an absolute savage on my batteries >_<

Great phone but it's already old enough to go to primary school…

    • Pixel 6

    • Huawei p30 pro. Phone is still rock solid but unfortunately stuck in Android 10 and Teams and other work related softwares are not supported anymore and hence the upgrade.

    • S20FE 5G. I was a bit reluctant to upgrade as the s20fe is enough of a phone for me but this pixel deal was too good to pass up.

    • OnePlus 7T Chinese version on OOS11.

I really like the software and hey maybe 12 fixes some issues and has codes for volte but I've been a very good boy by having this thing for 5 years so I'm treating myself.

    • Pixel 3 XL. Bit of a jump for me.

      • That's a 6-year-old phone. The longest I did was 4 years..you gonna enjoy the new phone when you get it today then!

        • I sure will. I set myself a target since the 6 came out that I would get a new pixel when I could get one for $700 (same as I got my Pixel 3 for). It just never happened and I never adjusted my price for inflation. Finally decided I might as well just get a new phone rather than an outdated model for a similar price to this deal. My smartphone journey has been iPhone 3, Samsung Galaxy s3, Nexus 5, Pixel 3XL, now Pixel 9 Pro XL. So I don't upgrade very often!

  • Got the sms jb won't let go early

    • Does this mean SMS says order will be ready for collection tomorrow?

    • +1

      what sms?

      • +1

        From: JB Hi-Fi
Hi <name>, 12345-67 will be ready for collection Thursday 22/08/2024! Please bring your receipt and physical photo ID with you when you come in to collect

    • +1

That's weird because everytime I got the sms that means they have the order in the cupboard wrapped up ready to go.

You should try going to the store or call them up because even though it says "ready for collection tomorrow" it doesn't mean it's not there yet. The sms afaik is the last step in their preparing for collection process.

      • This is different as it is pre-order.

        • Yep. All pre-order for me has been that way.
The sms means the order is in the click and collect cupboard, wrapped up, and waiting for collection.

          • @trantonz: Don’t worry you will get a similar SMS tomorrow then once your order is all wrapped and ready to be collected 👍🏻

          • +1

@trantonz: It's not them to decide when to release the product. They have guideline from Google they have to follow.

      • Mate, even if it is there, they are bot giving those today as the release date is tomorrow. At some stores, phones were there when we pre-ordered but couldn’t be given.

      • Did call told me they wouldn't let it go

    • What day did you order?
I popped down to my local store in VIC at lunch. He was also turning away 3 people who had all ordered before the 15th.
I ordered on the 16th and just ran my luck.

      Zero movement D:

  • My order is still in progress? Anyone else got a same problem?

    • 👋

      • Which half is BG? Is it the JB order or the Telstra order?

        • JB won’t release the voucher to me until the Telstra (JB plan) turns to complete

          • +2

@BargainsGrabber: I had a different experience as soon as the SIM is activated they processed the voucher for me, the JB plan was activated almost 24 hours later when I checked in the JB mobile app

            • @sirbangforbuck: I also had this experience: paid the $99 got an e-sim card and instantly the Giftcard ($1700 not the 350)

    • Mine is still in progress 😞, however I made my purchase yesterday around 5pm

    • I already have a number with jb/telstra and the plan's pay date is at the end of august.
i signed up to a new number and is still not activated, but when i logged in to JB hifi mobile it says payment is due at the end of August.
Will see what they say tomorrow

  • Has anyone preordered and contacted JB about changing to a different storage size and getting a refund of the difference? Wondering if this is a possibility.

  • +1

Thanks BG, just signed up at my local JB. Whole process take less than 10 mins as i used to have a Telstra account. They are not sure if i will get the phone tomorrow as they had a lot of sales of this phone.

  • Heads up - it’s in the latest catalogue from JB

$1000 off any Pixel 9, should be able to stack with the pre order bonus (can’t confirm but the bonus ends on 25/8)

ETC will be $550 for the $79 plan over 24 months

    • What's ETC and is that with the same plan?

      • +3

Early termination charge (sorry i keep referring to it as ETC (Optus term) but rather should be the maximum voucher repayment fee (Telstra term))

It’s on the $79 plan promo

Out of pocket should be: $1349 - $1000 + $75 + ~$527 (pro rata from $550 as first month has been paid) - $250 (pre order bonus - can’t confirm if it stacks) = ~$699 for the Pixel 9

I took the $250 calculation as the face value but ofc it’s worth lesser as we can easily obtain them at 10% off

        • +1

Nice breakdown, thanks for the reply 👍

        • I have no idea how this works. How did you get to the voucher repayment being $550? From conditions it looks like it would be $1000/24 x 23 which is $958.
I am obviously missing something and I would like to know what it is if you can explain.

          • @Flyerone: It’s mentioned in the CIS under Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee and there are 11 pages of it in this discussion on this deal

            • -4

@BargainsGrabber: The CIS direct from the deal says this:

              Voucher Repayment Fee

6.2 If you received a JB Hi-Fi Voucher when you purchased your Mobile Service and you cancel
that Mobile Service within any applicable Voucher Term, you must pay us the outstanding
amounts for the JB Hi-Fi Voucher you received for the cancelled Mobile Service (the Voucher
              Repayment Fee).
6.3 The Voucher Repayment Fee is a pro-rata amount, equal to the total amount of the base
Voucher divided by 24 and multiplied by the months (or part months) remaining in your
Voucher Term. For example, if received a voucher with a 24-month Voucher Term, then in:
              (a) Month 1: You will need to repay 23/24 of the Voucher you received;
              (b) Month 12: You will need to repay 11/24 of the Voucher you received; and
              (c) Month 23: You will need to repay 1/24 of the Voucher you received.

I'll go look elsewhere I guess.

              • @Flyerone: Read the 15 pages on this deal lol
Someone has already cancelled theirs and only charged for $766.59

              • @Flyerone: Well if you're not gonna read thru the discussions and the updates provided by the others regarding the cancellation fees ..I guess you don't deserve the deal :/

              • +1

@Flyerone: I've already cancelled mine. $766.59 confirmed by chat, will be taken out of my account in 10 days.

The terms you refer to strengthen the case for the $766.59 cancellation if you read words exactly as they're written in a legal sense and not with a logical sense.

It is very deliberately worded to allow people who will read it looking for 'loopholes' a cheap cancellation fee, whilst muddying the water to dissuade people who use common logic. I think JB are aware people can do this, and don't seem to care, as this isn't the first, second or even third time they've run a similar promo (they've done it for iPhone, Galaxy Z 6 Flip/Fold and the new iPads from immediate recollection and people were cancelling those for the Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee ($800 for $99 plan phone, $500 for mobile broadband tablet plan pro-rated) successfully).

After waffling on about outstanding amounts in 6.2, it immediately contradicts itself saying you have to pay THE Voucher Repayment Fee (which is the official term Telstra's CIS uses), and when you look at the the CIS you sign when you sign up, it has a Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee stated very clearly at $800 pro-rated (they even highlighted it in highlighter on my paper).

6.3 then goes on and deliberately uses the word 'base'. Base voucher in this case is $800 because that's what Telstra give JB Hi-Fi on these plans (I was told this by the employee). The store can then make up an additional discount via voucher which is funded by the store/manufacturer, or a mix of both. You're only ever legally on the hook for Telstra's portion ($800 on the $99 plan).

If JB was to somehow claw back the rest, it would be illegal. Besides, there's no system for them to do so anyway as Telstra think your voucher was $800.

TL;DR: No matter the voucher amount given to the customer, Telstra fund and can only see $800 of it, and that's all you're ever on the hook for because that's what's on the contract you signed.

    • Not as good

    • Pre order bonus ends tonight

      • +2

Not according to the product page

Get a bonus $250 JB Hi-Fi gift card when you pre-order or buy a Google Pixel 9 by 25/8/24!*

        • Ohk. Didn’t know its 25/8/24. I thought it ends with the release of phone on 22nd because technically after tonight it won’t be a pre-order 🙂

    • Also trade in to get an extra $800 off, say for ordering Fold, not sure will apply for XL too?
Some people got stacked with trade in, would be better deal than this one?

  • Rolling the dice that the 9 Pro will be offered with a similar deal

    • Patiently waiting here. The latest JB catalogue doesn't have it. Hopefully the next one will.

      • P9P is scheduled for release in October-November in Australia.

        • Ah okay, thought it would be coming in Sept. All good, patiently waiting still. Thanks for the info.

        • Is there any source for this? I'm too waiting. But if its Oct-Nov works for me as leaving the country in Dec.

          • +1

@starburstyellow: Read it on Techradar. While world release will be on 9 September, Australian is delayed for some reason.

  • Completed my order within 15 minutes at an Adelaide store. Was instantly activated and I can pick it up first thing tomorrow with the gift card. I didn't even think to use the gift card for the $350, is that what everyone else has done?

    • Don't think $350 gift card can be used with pre order of the phone.

      • No as its given when you collect the phone not when you pre order.

        • I am thinking of asking if I can use the gift card to upgrade my phone for the 128gb to the 256gb. It would just be a return and purchase.

          • @BargainBenno: Interested to see how you get on with this, I also ordered the 128gb. Thinking I should have gone with the 256b :/

            • @ozstig: Yeah I went with the 256GB only because the hazel didn't come in 128

          • @BargainBenno: Thats what my plan is too to upgrade from 256GB to 512GB.

          • @BargainBenno: I don’t see any reason for JB to object or not do this as this will for additional sale for them.

  • The latest promo for JB Hifi x Telstra just came out for the P9 Pro XL
1200 off on the $79 plan (End 1st Step)
1500 off on the $99 plan (End 28 Aug)

The $350 Bonus GC still applies tho till 25th Aug

Definitely not as good as the pre-order of 1700 off on the $99 plan :(

    • $200 less value

      • $1200 off with a 24 month $79 plan is very close to the same as $1700 off the $99 plan, but with less monthly data. But is practically the same if you simply don't need the data

    • With the '1200 off on the $79 plan (End 1st Step)' offer, does it give you $700 JB gift card as well? It's showing up on this page - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/pages/upfront-mobile-plans.

      • No, it’s either $1200 or $700

        • +1

Ah, I see. That makes sense, as the pre-order deals on the Pro XL have finished. Thanks!

  • Anyone being told not to come in tomorrow?

I called up today to double check I could come down at open for pick up and was told NO, and to call back in a few days for a stock update 🫤

    • Which city / store? Apparently we need to wait for SMS confirmation.

      • Armadale Perth

        • I received an SMS yesterday from the Malaga store saying my order will be ready to collect today. When did you order?

          • @bonezAU: 9am Monday

            • @zacsg1: That sucks, try calling the store. Sounds like they might not have enough stock? I'm going to pick mine up at about 11am, not from Armadale though.

              • @bonezAU: I rolled the dice and went for open, got a great staff member who sorted everything out for me and I got my phone and gift card in under 20 minutes.

                • +1

@zacsg1: sounds like you got an unhappy camper on the phone when you called.
