        • no sms so far. Myaree WA

  • Was told in store that the Pixel pro comes with one year free subscription to Gemini with 1tb online storage. Or is that Gemini Advanced with 2tb? Also Google is spruiking their satellite SOS emergency service free for two years with this phone or is that only for USA?

    • +1

      Gemini Advanced with 2tb
      You get this

I haven't heard anything about the SOS thing as yet.

  • But…what if you cancel several times?
Would you get black listed somehow?

    • Yes. Happened with me 2 years ago when I cancelled 2-3 times, and wasn’t able to subscribe for about 6 months.
But OP has done this more often than me lately and was still able to subscribe. So it s a hit and miss.

      • Thanks

Got a text ready for pick up!

    • Which store? I thought all JB stores open by 9am

      • +2

You can only pick up when the store is open which is 9am

    • Was the SMS sent to the new number you signed up - or the old number you have?

      • +1

Should be received on the number that you gave them while placing the order for the phone. Doesn’t have to be the new number under this plan.

      • I kept my number so…

    • +1

still no text here 😔 I might just go try my luck

      • +1

        Same here

      • Please let us know how you go and which JB you go to.

        • I ordered mine from Preston Home Centre should've went to Northland they already have it in stock :(
I called them just now and were told the stock is coming in today and they are open till 9PM so I should get a text later in the day

    • +1

Was yours stuck in "in progress" before you got the sms?

  • +2

Just picked up my pre-order from JB Broadmeadows - all went smoothly.

I didn't receive a text, but I called the store and was advised my order was ready for pickup. Might be worth calling up your store for any other eager beavers out there.

$350 physical gift card issued on pickup. I also asked whether this could be used to upgrade to a higher storage model but was told that this would be treated as a cancelled pre-order, thus revoking entitlement to the gift-card.

    • Did you get a tax invoice? Yet to pick mine up.

      • No tax invoice. Just a copy of the packing slip and pickup confirmation.

  • I just picked mine up at Macquarie Park. Didn’t receive the ‘ready text’ and so it took them half an hour to sort everything out.

  • what is the latest deal now? I was going to store today but the deal has been marked as expired?

      • OP, did your order went through in the end?
Any updates on whether JB can still fulfill your order with the messed up telstra registration?

        • Still no update to the shitty Telstra mucked up, that means JB can’t process my pre order request

    • The latest promo for JB Hifi x Telstra just came out for the P9 Pro XL
1200 off on the $79 plan (End 1st Step)
1500 off on the $99 plan (End 28 Aug)

The $350 Bonus GC still applies tho till 25th Aug

Definitely not as good as the pre-order of $1700

      • so basically $200 expensive :(

        • You can try your luck if you're planning to get the 256GB model
If the staff at JB can give u a deal, they might match the price with the 128GB model. Someone got this deal during the pre-order stage.
This will net you around $150 of savings today, ie, only $50 more expensive than the expired deal.
          However, as usual, YMMV.

      • how much is ETC on $79 plan?

  • +2

Reviews are out. Seems like a very incremental upgrade from pixel 8 pro. I'm wondering what trade in value would be down the line as I'm keen on the Oppo Find X8 when it launches

    • The biggest upgrade shouldn't be one with fixed thermals.
      But I'm very excited nevertheless.

    • I'm coming from an Samsung S21 so I think it'll be a good upgrade for the money.

    • For $2000 I would say yes, but for $900 after gift card for the 256gb I think it's good!

      • +1

agreed. I wouldn't have chosen the pixel as my first choice (I'm upgrading from a 5 year old Honor phone which is still solid) but a flagship at $900 is hard to pass on.

  • Just received txt, ready for collection :)

    • Was yours stuck in "in progress" before you got the sms?

      • To be honest I didn't check. I ordered it late yesterday with new physical sim. Seemed to be smooth transaction.

  • +2

Didn’t receive any SMS. Just called my store and its ready for collection. Going to pick it now.

    • Did the same after seeing your comment. Thanks.

  • So no tax invoice and hence not able to claim GST ?

    • They legally have to provide you with one. I just looked at the receipt they gave me when I placed the pre-order and at the top it says TAX INVOICE followed by an ABN, but nowhere on the receipt does it list the GST amount.

That's shady. Ask in store when you go to collect…

      • There should be a tax invoice somewhere. I'm not sure if everyone had same experience but when I purchased mine they gave me a $1700 gift card then sent me a link to my email whilst instore and completed purchase online using the $1700 gift card and credit card or paypal etc for the balance. There should be a tax invoice that has the $1847 as full amount paid.

        • I was given nothing other than a SIM card and sent to the register. The staff there scratched the code off a physical gift card for the $1700 and processed that through the till. I then paid the outstanding balance with another JB gift card that I had.

As mentioned, there's no GST amount on my 'tax invoice', so I'll be asking when I go and collect it later this morning.

          • @bonezAU: sorry whats important about having GST on the invoice?

            • +2

@JDGads: TRS or maybe claiming GST for business expense. Don't worry if you aren't doing any of that.

    • +4

Just ask for it when you pickup. It's JB Hifi not JB from FB.

    • Just collected and can see GST component of $167.91 mentioned .

    • +3

You can get one if you ask.

      Here's mine: https://d.pr/i/2JyQMy

      • Good to hear. I'll be sure to grab one to Salary Sacrafice.

      • My original thermal paper invoice was a purchase order only and didn't list a date or GST. I asked the store for a proper receipt today, they sent me a garbled digital receipt with severe formatting issues that make it unreadable and still doesn't list a date or GST, I emailed them again this afternoon and they then gave me a dated today invoice that was legible but for $0 item and $0 GST.

None of the three they gave me mention my IMEI number.

        Gave up.

Doesn't really matter for me. I really just wanted a digital copy for handset warranty if needed and I suppose they provided that.

  • +1

Received the ready text and picked mine up. The lady serving me said "first Pixel out the door!" excitedly to some bloke that cared less than her. I did need to remind her of the $350 gift voucher. Have not cancelled the new sim yet

Nice upgrade from my old Poco F2!

    • Which model you got? Just called my local jb, the porcelain 256gb not yet arrive today. He mentioned it I'll get a text.

  • Anyone picked one up in Adelaide City store yet? I called them but they said to wait for a text, but I'm not sure if I've given them my current number or the new number as a contact.

    • For anyone wondering, yes they do have them in. Didn't get a text so just popped in at lunch time.

  • Just picked up from Jbhifi Melbourne Elizabeth st. No need to wait for sms. Got $350 gift card and in the invoice GST component of $167.91 is mentioned. So all good until now..

  • +9

Collected the phone and $350 JB GC.

Wasn't sure if I needed to put the SIM (new number) given by JB in it or not. Did it anyway.

Chatted with Telstra rep via JB app (on my primary/existing number) and cancelled the plan.

Was told I'll receive invoice for $766.59 via email and I'll have 10 days to pay.

Pixel 9 Pro XL 256 GB for a net $768.12!

That's a great deal, thanks OP.

    • How are you mathing that?

766.59+99+297=1162.59-350GC=$812.59 for the 256 XL model.

Did you get a discount on the RRP from your rep? If so, spewing I didn't ask but still a great deal.

      • +1

        I used 15% GC for paying $297 when I pre-ordered.

        • +3

          This guy bargains.

      • +1

Not all rep will lower the price. I tried yesterday on both 128 and 256gb but no luck. They really dont need to as there was 3 other people behind me wanting to buy the same phone deal.

    • did they try to offer you some reductions of monthly fee to keep you in the plan?

  • +1

Just picked up my 256GB Hazel from Chatswood

I didn't get the SMS yet but it seems it doesn't matter if they have stock.

    Thanks OP!

  • Its paid to call them. I pro-ordered mine last minutes yesterday. Called them just then and they said will start preparing my order and i can come in now to pick it up.

  • Picked my Obsidian XL 256GB from Colonnades SA.

No text, call or email at all on either number. Just went and it was in the pickup cage.

There were only 3 Pixel phones including mine in the pickup cage at 10:30. Wonder if I had low volume at my store? She, nor her co-worker at the counter knew the process for processing the gift card and needed to call for help so I was the first one to pick mine up.

Weird. Thought this'd have gone bananas regardless of the so-called 'loophole'.

    • +1

not an Apple product so the fanfare isn't there

  • -2

Has anyone cancelled the telstra plan and how much do you have to pay ??

  • -5

Has anyone cancelled the telstra plan and know whether it's $800 or $1700?

  • Did anyone else misplace their receipt?

    • I collected my phone w/o the receipt. Just had to show the ID and verify my phone number. I did have it at home but forgot to take it along.

  • +3

PSA for anyone claiming under TRS. You need your full name or passport number printed on the invoice for purchases more than $1000. Ask JB to include it.

    • Yes it is included…

  • do we cancel via chat on JB HIFI app? going to pick up phone now

    • Yes I just cancelled mine through JB app and will be charged ETC of $799.92.
(I wasn't charged $99 for the first month.)

      • did they try to offer you something to keep you in the plan?

        • +1

No just a reason for leaving.
I said over my budget. Simple.

          • @posthex: I will keep the plan just wonder if anyone has a success reducing the monthly fee.

            • @jimwh: You just signed up for a $99 plan, what are you expecting?

              • @bonezAU: I remember in the past people can get a $10 off or some discount (surely for HN/optus) wonder if can do the same.

                • @jimwh: If you’re referring to the $10 port in credit per month for 12 months, they have stopped doing that iirc

                  • @BargainsGrabber: OK. Yes that is the one I was talking about. Shame it is no longer available.

      • How did you manage that?

        • You mean not paying the $99?
When I signed up my plan stated $0 to pay today and $99 due on September 5.
Not sure if others were charged $99 on sign up?

          • +2

@posthex: Nice. Yep, the $99 was charged pretty much straight away for me.

          • @posthex: Do you have an active like with Telstra currently?

    • Yep - worked for me took about 5 minutes

  • +2

just picked up mine from JB Osborne Park. No text just rocked up on my way to work. Also, manager said $350 voucher can't be used on Pixel Phones storage upgrade. I didn't get into further discussion. got mine and walked away. Cheers

Edit: and successfully cancelled via JB app chat with 766.59 to pay. Time to set up the phone now.

  • +1

    Hi All,
Who ever received the device, can you confirm if you got 1year Google one and Gemini subscription during or after activation? On speaking to Google support they said it's only available for Pixel purchase through Google store which I find odd.

    Thanks

    • If you look up the Pixel phone on the JB website, the 4th picture shows the Gemini Advanced plan free for 1 year. I'm currently on a family plan so I will need to 'redeem' mine through a 2nd Google account. Just need to figure out how now… phone is still setting itself up.

      • Just open Gemini App and go through subscription process. It will automatically show that you are eligible for 12 months free subscription. Just did mine.

        • +2

Open the Google One app and follow the prompts.

I just opened the Gemini app, tapped the icon in the top right and then "Try Gemini Advanced"

It comes up with a screen saying "Checking your eligibility" and then it said I was eligible. Print underneath says "With your Pixel 9 Pro, you get 12 months at $0, then $32.99 per month".

          Tap "Start trial".

It said something in the fine print about it not being available to Google One family subscribers, I currently have a 100GB plan which is family but I had no issues activating the 1 year of Gemini Advanced, it said "You now have 2TB of storage".

edit: Hmm, now I got an email saying my yearly 100GB plan has been cancelled and replaced with "Google One AI Premium (2 TB) (Google One)
Monthly Subscription ‐ Active immediately "

I hope this doesn't prevent my wife's phone from being able to upload to Google Photos :/
No mention of a refund for the unused portion of my 100GB plan either.

          • @bonezAU: All my family sharing still seems to be in tact, hopefully it'll keep working as before.

    • +1

In the Gemini app click upgrade, it will check your eligibility and offer you one year free.
