    Waste of money.

    • Waste of time.

      • waste of phone

    • G'day Mr. iSheep!

  • +2

Is this a knee jerk reaction to cutting off all the sensors citizen's 3G phones?

    • +2

Absolutely, but even $296 is a steep price for some. They should have partnered with someone like Motorola to offer sub-$100 5G phones.

      • Not to mention, why is it taxpayer money that is spent on fixing the mistakes and badly managed rollout of the 5G switch being done by the private telcos!?

And what about those who aren't senior citizens?

        • +1

One mistake can't be fixed by another one, therefore I still think it's a good thing to look after our senior citizens.

I'm just debating that the taxpayer money could have been spent more rationally without subsidising Samsung's overpriced phones if the aim was to enable access to "education, banks, government portals".

  • / thieves lol. LMAO

Isn't it weird that the wealthiest generation is getting benefits and discounts because of their age?

    • +1

Yeah, it's almost like they worked their asses off for 50 years to get the things they wanted in life and are now in retirement, some surviving on only a pension. How dare they!

      • If they worked their asses off for 50 years they would not have spent their entire working lives building assets on top of deficit spending & inflation.

Current generations are expected to live off super, so now we get to pay for both our retirement & theirs, while also eating the consequences of the massive gov debt they will pass on as they swan off to be job creator heroes in hell.

The current retirement age batch are the first generation to leave the next measurably worse off. Cheerleading for their choices when it comes to the economy is masochism.

    • +7

Not everyone in that generation is wealthy mate.
Just like how not everyone in our generation is wealthy. Which is why I'm on ozBee cos I"m broke AF! 😁

    • What kind of stupid sweeping statement is this? LOL

      • -1

        It's a question not a statement.

        • It's a rhetorical question, which, in case you need it explained to you, means you are making a point (i.e. a statement) and is not borne out of curiosity, nor a desire to understand.

If I am wrong, then feel free to correct me and let us all know what exactly you were being inquisitive about.

    • Boomers ought to only have a corded landline phone?

  • If you are not glued to the Samsung One UI ecosystem, I would recommend waiting for a deal on the Motorolo Edge 50. Great phone and was recently on special for $350.

    • Does that equal to The A55?
IMO, I think seniors are more biased towards the big brand names because of their so called 'after-sales' support.

      • Very clean UI on Moto,

  • you should have someone who holds an NSW Seniors Card or Senior Savers Card.

What a weird claim to make!

I know no Seniors in NSW.
As I live in a different State.
Even if I did, they likely would wisely not want to share their personal data.

*Use of someone else's personal information without consent is Identity fraud.
    So seek their permission first.

    • Huh? The blurb says "you should have someone", not "you should have someone's card". You can just ask your old man to buy the phone and gift it to you.

      • Huh? That's not what I wrote!
Just a reminder to get permission first!

You can just ask your old man

Having an "old man" does not make them necessarily eligible for a Seniors Card nor that they live in NSW to qualify!!

    • The post says it's for NSW.
Hence, it's implied that it doesn't apply to you as you don't live in NSW.

Similarly, it's implied that you ask someone who you know. It's common sense and common courtesy!😊

      • NSW Seniors Card - General Terms and Conditions:
"You must not allow any other person to use your NSW Seniors Card or NSW Senior Savers Card. If you do both you and they may be committing a criminal offence."

        • -1

Yep. That's the NSW Seniors Card - General Terms and Conditions.
Nothing to do with this deal.

          • -1

            @Lord Ra:

Nothing to do with this deal.

What? Do you understand your Deal??
(Which is good - EXCEPT encouraging people to possible risk others Seniors / Senior Savers Card benefits.)

Those cards are necessary to get this Deal:
"NSW Seniors Card and Senior Savers Card holders can save a minimum of 15% off on selected Galaxy favourites"

Anyone using another's Govt issued card to gain a benefit - is governed by NSW Govt - with possible penalties.

Loss of use of the card can mean loss of many benefits by the card holder!!

Something to be considered by the Card holder.
