Terrible value given the annual fee.

    • can ask for half refund

      • how to?

        • just ask. I have always got refunds from citi and nab

@ozbargainerlife1: i have been hearing a lot + my self as well that NAB has stopped giving annual fee refunds

            • @clayaa: just closed Citi/Virgin 2 weeks ago for me and my wife. Got the pro-rata fee back for 10 months.

            • @clayaa: I just received a prorated refund this month on a Citi card.

While I agree that the annual fee is really high, why does that make it terrible value? I only ask as a single classic rewards trip to Sydney from Melbourne is 8000 points. So I believe this deal would get me 9 return flights.

Even with the taxes involved, surely that volume of flights would be cheaper than the annual fee.

No negativity here, just curious to know your logic.

Whilst I chose Sydney and Melbourne, I presume any classic rewards flights would return equal or better value for this number of points.

      • I did this post a few months back breaking down the points per dollar spent on fees.
This works out to be 200 points per dollar of fees. Unsure if any of those cards are still out there, they most likely are, but 90% of them were better value.
And you've got to spend $7,500 in TWO months…. Horrendous value IMO, but may be suitable for high income earners.

        • I will take a read.

        • And you've got to spend $7,500 in TWO months

That's what stood out to me the most as well, huge minimum spend required.

  • Wtf $749 !

First class / Business flight for $749 + taxes. Bargain!

Sorry OP, but there's better value out there… this was the first one I checked… Westpac Altitude Qantas Black Credit Card
90,000 Qantas points for $150 (reduced) first year +$75 Altitude Qantas Program Fee.
400 points per dollar of fees paid VS 200 points for this. And you have 4 months to spend $6k vs 2 months and $7.5k for this.

Yours doesn't have $450 of free lounge access, nor the free 4th night. Whilst I get its all about peoples needs, your card is good for pure points, this Citi one is a good offer to those that use it.

I had the old version of this card. Used lounges 30+ times in a year for two. Considering its $45 per use per person, I got $2700 of value (false as would buy a sub with PPass and pay $450) and also used all four nights free as well, getting me another $1230 of value.

Points = 1c value. So $1500 points, $450 membership loungers, $1230 of free nights in hotels and $100 limo my card had = $3280 value for $749 $4.37 per dollar invested
Yours gets $900 for $225 = $4 per dollar invested

      • I think the paid PP membership is US$469, and doesn’t include guests - the one that comes with this card includes a guest as well.

        • Ah, so even mor value. More like $5.40 return per dollar spent.

    • what about points per credit check?

  • You also get $10 back every month if you spend over $40 on an Uber

    • Does anyone actually getting $10 back for uber I never got one in 60 days at least

  • I have this card, and it's great value if you have the free Citi Payall, otherwise less desirable without.

    • Whats city Payall

      • +1

A city where you pay all

    • How to have that free City Payall? Is it from corporate?

      • You had to set it up before a certain date.

Also, this card is great value if you exploit priority pass (hint: get free food at your arrival destination as well as when leaving) and 4th night free.

        • This card is great for FIFO people tho

          • @drhip: You usually have access to some semblance of a lounge if you are fifo

    • there is a 0.95% fee tho. Not as high as cash advance but still a fee there. Do you actually have a workaround that prevents yourself from incurring the 0.95% fee?

      • That fee is new. If you set up a reoccurring one before they implemented it, it would be free.

        • Ahh I was citi user until they got bought by NAB in Australia. Didnt know about this Payall. Would have go with it if I knew, to accumulate points easily.
